@@NeostormXLMAX Absolutely. Though I feel like Larian had to learn a bit more from mistakes they made in their older games, but damn, did they learn well and made some incredible improvements to already pretty good games. I'm so looking forward to the full release of BG3, even though I think that nothing they do will ever top the experience that Divinity II gave me.
It's so endearing to see Amir be so flustered and nervous about the launch, considering that this is their fourth game. Shows how much love and care Supergiant put into every single release. Excellent video as always, Noclip, and as for Hades, it's my GOTY :)
Every studio (big and small) have people who are deeply invested and nervous about launching a game, no matter how professional (like Supergiant) they might be. It's incredible exiting and nerve-wracking to put something out in to the void and wait, if the void cares.
As someone who works in games, this is 100% what happens for every launch. It's always nerve wracking to release a game into the world and see how people respond to it. About a week later the post-launch blues hit!
@@MagusakaJanus Unless the post-launch scramble to release a hotfix its first. The blues come in two parts - the first after initial release and the second when you move away from the project for good.
@@prcr364 What I said is true. This game is made by a game journalist, and you know how they operate. They are part of the same clique that made this video... which implicitly promotes the game itself. There is no meritocracy. You better have some important friends and be politically aligned with these people if you want them to notice you. They are evil.
This entire series was Incredible. The narrative, the openness of the studio, the production quality, the whole shebang. But I think my favorite part of the whole thing was seeing how Darren Korb’s facial hair was going to change from interview to interview.
Being an indie studio isn't a statement about the size of a the studio but about how it treats its people and community. Stay an indie studio forever guys and we will always support you. Just keep making what you love no matter what the trends want .
Its isn't a statement about the size the studio because it just isn't. Indie is independant. Its a binary quality that describes whether or not the game is self published. The size of the studio is a completely different metric independent of independence. Some indie studios are AAA.
@@Wylie288 Indie and AAA are nebulous terms with no consistent usage, and thus no consistent definition. We can state what the "correct" one is all day but they're useless outside of what OP said
@@NoConsequenc3 That isn't true. They have meanings. Our community being a bunch of illiterate morons doesn't change that. They are not even gaming terms. AAA is a term that describes a certain budget in ALL of the enteratinment industry. Its a spectrum of money. Independant vs Published is a separate binary quality for ALL of the entertainment industry. Only gamers get these things wrong. That doesn't make them "nebulous". That make you a fucking idiot.
I'm so happy for Greg. He went from being a game reviewer on GameSpot to a writer at a new company, Supergiant Games. Back then they were working on Bastion. Their first title. That game was critically adored and praised. And look at him now. Creative Director of Supergiant Games where they have been releasing hit after hit. I'm happy for his journey in life and the successes he has attained.
Btw, for anyone wondering since I was just researching this a week or two ago. The sound tiles in the game studio are BAUX Acoustic Wood Wool hexagon tiles. Not a sponsor or even own the product, just was staring at the tiles wondering why they looked familiar lol.
This is probably the actual greatest video game story of all time. I'm so happy for all the humans involved in the game, this doc series, and people like me who just played and enjoyed Hades.
Honestly, the biggest challenge this studio is going to have for any future releases is managing expectations for both its fans but especially its staff. Take your time, do what you need to do and stay grounded and best of luck! If anyone ever questions if games are art I'll point to this game and they will agree. I still listen to Out of Taterus and God of the Dead several times a week and planning to do a Zagreus cosplay when that becomes possible again and if I can get rid of this corona 1 keg belly xD
The game along with the 6-part documentary is the complete package. The documentary has perfectly complemented the game. Hope you guys keep being part of such great projects in the future, as this is a great one for the CV.
I played it before Hades and you can really tell a lot of the inspiration for Hades came from Pyre. Despite Hades being their absolute best game, Pyre holds a very special place in my heart
It's good but it's just a flavor of the month kind of game. The presentation is good but it's just any other indie roguelite game out there. Wonderfully executed but also nothing new.
they do have a merch store on their official website! i think they're mostly selling the music track CDs and some posters and shirts, but i agree the coasters NEED to happen
It's touching and funny to watch this play by play, to see them stressed and fretting about it.... and sitting in feb 2021 and knowing "hey, this was THE game of the year. y'all did it. it's gonna be okay."
I haven't even watched the video yet and I'm so excited. I'm over 170 hours into Hades and I'm still coming across unique dialogue and still need to finish up a few upgrades. Certainly the best game I played last year and thank you to NoClip for making me interested in this amazing game I would have over looked without this amazing series.
this is a telling response. nowadays some games are straightup created to be goty games and they don't even hit the mark often but bc of their hype they are hamfisted into being nominated anyway
"What is ...Eurogamer? Essential? Do they give numbers?" Loved that. Who are these arcane scribes from across the sea? Essential? Who cares, I WANT MY NUMBER!
Not to be a downer, but that part was a sobering reminder for me that reviews and awards DO matter. Hell, the people who make these games gain not an insignificant amount of validation from it. They even skipped straight to the score! This is why it's important for us as audiences to patronize only the reviewers and award shows that give games a fair shake - no more, no less. Because they do have power, and it's up to us to keep them on their toes and make sure that they wield that power properly.
@@iatwiatw They were looking at reviews for a game they'd just spent hundreds upon hundreds of hour pouring their hearts, souls, blood, sweat and tears into making. I only just started watching this series this past weekend, and was delighted to see the last episode was just added yesterday. Phenomenal series, and great insight into Supergiant's process. I've not yet gotten to play Hades, but it's definitely at the top of my list now.
This game is more fun the Witcher 3 and Mass Effect 2, my previous GOAT games. I didn’t have to make myself take breaks from those games. My gf has to pull me away from Hades
Watching these talented, hard-working, dedicated creatives respond to the positive reception to their work is like therapeutic. I'm so happy for them. They deserve it, Hades is incredible.
@@Cosmitzian Absolutely. It's a shame, because some really good people have been putting an insane amount of work into this game, but the work and release policies crunched the game and exploited the programmers and designers so much that the game came out as a bugged, unfinished mess.
I will always have immense respect for the dev team at cdpr for the work and passion they put into their games, but holy shit is the management team there a complete disaster. They took some of the best artists in the industry and pushed em way passed their limits in the name of greed and hype. It truly showed with the release of cyberpunk, which could've easily been an 8 or 8.5 out of 10 for me if it weren't completely broken. Hopefully they pull a no mans sky and keep working to improve the game while learning from their mistakes, because the studio really does have a ton of potential.

I know what he's talking about though. I really enjoyed the first 4 seasons of game of thrones but I don't go back and rewatch because the ending ruined it. Same for Lost, and a few other things, it just kind of feels pointless if you don't have a good ending to look forward to.

@@joscelinvoronoy7100 larian studios and super giant games are the best studio in the decade

Yeah, I wish my boss was a bit more like that haha.

After watching this final episode it has become clear to me none of this would have happened without the efforts of Haku

That Amir fellah is a straight-up role model.
This team just seem so authentic, well-intentioned, good people. And they're talented and hard-working to boot. They deserve all the success and more
This entire series was Incredible.
I'm so happy for all the humans involved in the game, this doc series, and people like me who just played and enjoyed Hades.
the humans are great no doubt but let's give a shoutout to haku and amir's dog for moral support + cerberus noises :D
Incredible series for an incredible game
Thanks so much for watching!

I'm playing that next then
I played it before Hades and you can really tell a lot of the inspiration for Hades came from Pyre. Despite Hades being their absolute best game, Pyre holds a very special place in my heart
absolutely everyone please play pyre. it's such a unique and beautiful game
Pyre is a great game. It's one of the few games I tell people seeing it is not the same as playing it.
It's good but it's just a flavor of the month kind of game. The presentation is good but it's just any other indie roguelite game out there. Wonderfully executed but also nothing new.

this is a telling response. nowadays some games are straightup created to be goty games and they don't even hit the mark often but bc of their hype they are hamfisted into being nominated anyway
I mean, TLOU2 knew full well what they were doing and they got all of those awards, so their Oscar bait worked.

"What is ...Eurogamer? Essential? Do they give numbers?"
Loved that.
