@@dpcater 1500 isn't totally crazy, but all depends on weight as you say. Also, 1500W randomly on the watt bike (that's stationary and you don't have to worry about crashing the thing) and doing 1500W at the end of half an hour of hard riding (actually did it twice) are very different things

That’s very inspiring! I am a 61 year old cyclist, and I’ve never raced, but quite honestly, this whole process (from couch to today) is really giving me motivation to try race once in a while. Great job and it was truly fun to watch this whole series of videos leading up to today.

Enjoy the ride EJ. I still remember my first public cat, and Cat V race wins from the early 90s (first-year the UCSF introduced the Cat V), and they are fond memories that I've carried into my 50s. I also continue some friendships I made with my former team members and even still ride with a few. None of us had power meters, GPS computers, digital cameras, etc. in the 90s and only have our minds to hold these memories; you'll be able to relive this moment and many more others with your friends and possibly children when you're in your 50s.

That surge to 1k watts at 7:50 pretty quickly brought EJ’s HR up almost 20bpm though he basically coasted afterwards - crazy!
I swear this is better than watching the Tour de France maybe even the Tour of Flanders and almost as good as watching WVA and MDP race cyclocross.
