Fabulous superfast road bike, even now !! What an era we lived through late 90s into 2000's.... wish we could do it all over again 😢 .

The 99 R1 was my first big bike and first bike bought from new. What a feeling that day was picking it up.

Ditto but with a 99 R6 in blue, still my only new bike. Such a rush being on the buzz bike of the time.

I've still got mine, 1999 4xv traded my FZR 1000 for it in 2003.
Put Renthal Superbike bars on it 3 years ago.
It still rips my arms off. And handles sublimely.
So happy days basically! Good channel buddy 👍

@@LambChopRides Might be something to do with that era? In terms of great styling, comfort, storage space (admittedly smallish, but it does exist!), etc. it reminds me of my Fireblade 954 which I still have, and never really want to get rid of.

@@Ukmongoose3 I have thought about selling it, I'm I my 70s, and, although not as uncomfortable as many sports oriented bikes, it isn't the most comfortable at my time of life. But every time I think about it, I can't go through with it 🤣 But you're right, I know that if I did ever sell it, it would be a huge regret! Thanks for the reminder!

Had a brand new one in blue, 1999 model, wished I never sold it, the engine in this bike was the best engine I have ever experienced and I’m 69. Had many cars, scooters and motorcycles over the years, this engine trumped the lot, it was so tractable and smooth, you could accelerate from 1500 - 2000revs in top gear, all the way up to top speed, fantastic bike, sold mine with only 4000 miles on the clock.

I don't know why you didn't just cut the plugs off completely and then solder the wires. Yes I would have done what you did it figure out which wires you need to joint or cut. Because that's a lot easier doing them with the plugs in place but at least you have the correct wires go to which wire to start the bike. Cut the complete plug off and just solder the correct wires to each other. But hay ho everyone has there own way of doing things. The mean thing is you have fucked off that alarm now so happy days mate. 🤔👏👏👏

I have a cunning plan: buy £5,000 worth of tickets.. (or £1 if it still has that screen on it) 😊

Bought a bike with an alarm fitted in 2004. Won’t do that again.

Those fasteners were on my 4xv also in blue so id assume they are standard fitment as mine was completely standard like yours. They are called dzus fasteners. Dont forget to service the exup valve as they can stick and have no power.

I was fascinated by the r1 until I rode one. Underwhelming.. Same as a Gixxer, anything but the blue.
