Thanks Steven. I didn't realize, until I was editing, that even my breathing changed, which you could see. So glad it worked. ha, ha... and great to hear I've been able to pass along some knowledge. Thanks again for the comment, see you soon!
I have just started watching your videos and absolutely love them! Funny thing is, I am doing almost the exact same build! 66 GTO with a butler 428 and tko 600! You are very informative and have been extremely helpful! Keep up the good work!
Thanks Jeremy! That's great to hear I've been able to provide some education. Which is my intent. Now that I'll be driving more, I have to figure out how to make my driving videos more "Entertaining" than Informative. Ha, ha... Not to worry though, I have several more projects to do on "Green Envy". Can't wait to see your build!
Just found your channel from a Global West add. I am installing GW on my 65 442, so very interested in your car. Great that you are sharing all that you have done. I will looking at the previous videos for tips!! One thing, the instructions I got with my TKO said to free wheel the transmission in each gear for break in. It seemed like it was for 15 minutes of run time on the hoist going thru the gears. I haven't done it yet. I installed my TKO 10 yrs ago and got side tracked. Video's like yours are an inspiration!! Thanks for going to all the effort to get this documented!! Congrats on getting it running and sorted out!! Looking forward to more vids from you!!
Thanks Mr. Gadgets! Welcome to the channel... First I'm hearing of "free wheeling the gears". I did NOT do that. I do know you have to spend time down shifting, and coasting in gear, under load... that gets the front and back side of each gear some wear. Hope that makes sense. Thanks again for your positive comments... glad to help, and let us know if you have any questions... see you soon!
Great video love how you go over everything!! what i do and i guss everbody has there way but instead of using a screw driver i do just like you did but i use the distributor and rotate a little untill i get it lined up. Another great video! best on UA-cam by far thanks for all of them keep them coming! Oh i for got and i just mark the top of the wire and mark the distributor.
Glad to see it finally running, looking forward to seeing that trunk cam viewpoint cruise. A viewpoint like that with a GTO would definitely be awesome.
@@FastMonty Also, you might notice that I've been experimenting with different things as well. Recently I figured out how to do a video via illusion style. What I do is I take a picture of a car, and then I can use that picture for the video after I clean it up and insert an alpha into the pic.
@@FastMonty Definitely helps since I don't have access to any of those cars, all I have to do is find one and snap a pic, most often one at a car lot. Those video's are to hopefully provide the viewer with some sort of variety to watch and hopefully they'll watch it.
Fantastic work Mr Monty. believe me I know the feeling of being nervous when it comes to fired up the engine for the first time needless to say you have an awesome set up there and have done a great job congratulations enjoy that beast
Just started watching your videos. Great job and informative. About to drop a new 427 SBC into my 67 Camaro with a Tremec 5 speed. Finishing up my AC install. I can’t wait to get the engine installed and running.
Thanks Greg! Yeah, got some gremlins to work out, as usual. But, overall very happy with the new Tremec, and the fact the engine works. lol Thanks for all of your support, since almost day one... See you soon!
I'm a recent subscriber, first time commenter! Your is an excellent video series which I will use this winter when I replace the Muncie in my '68 Camaro. Be careful with the billet distributor clamp you used. I had one on my small block and it would loosen up over time. I went to a chrome played stock piece.
Thanks David, and welcome to the channel. Great tip about the distributor clamp! I'll keep an eye on it. Or, might just put the stock one back on. If you ever have any questions, let us know... we're all here to help. See ya!
Hey brother congratulations the GTO sounds awesome I know you have to feel proud of yourself this month I also finish restoring my 69 Firebird and was able to hit the road great job
Thanks Luis! Yeah, pretty awesome feeling getting out on the road again. As you know.... congrats on your build, as well! More projects to come... see ya!
Nice work all the way through. Since I’m doing a conversion from Silver Sport I watched all your Tremec videos since I have to do the same things you did and some (mine is an auto). It started with me just wanting to do a cheap motor swap. Car is a small block and I don’t have time to do a full tear down an upgrade to big block. So I pulled the motor and it was a month out from Sunmit so I figured I do a cheap rear disc brake upgrade. Then I figured might as well do suspension since motor is out. Then thought, I’ve always wanted a manual, so bought the kit from Silver Sport. Then I figured I’d do a rearend so I put a moser rearend with 3.91’s since I’m putting in the 6 speed. Motor is taking longer than expected so I’m kind of at a stand still. So I’ve got my own adventure going on and hopefully will get it wrapped up this year. Great job.
Thanks SJ... love that story... I originally wanted our family mechanic to rebuild the motor, put modern brakes on it, and add some paint. Ha! Six years later, I did a frame off rebuild. That's how this hobby goes... thanks for hanging out, and can't wait to see your ride!
Congratulations! Been following you pretty much the whole way. At least you can still drive it, most of our cars are parked for the winter up here in the frozen tundra of Minnesota. Salt+Classic=Bad
Hey Monty, I just subscribed to your channel. Your GTO sounds insane and looks even more insane! I love that color green and it looks great. I'm in the process of ripping down the top end of my Trans Am currently, it's a 1969 engine with "62" heads. I bought this engine complete back in 1991 and I have no build sheet on the guts of it but it does go good. Currently it has an Edelbrock intake and a Holley 750 Dbl pumper carb. My buddy gave me a 1969 stock spread bore intake in mint condition and I'm going to port and polish it. I'm going to run a stage 2 Q-jet carb on it as I want it for a daily driver. The 750 Holley is way too much carb for it. Stay tuned I will most def have a few questions for you buddy...lol
Hey Dave, Welcome to the family! Thanks for the compliments... yeah, sounds like a de-tune would make it easier to drive. Good luck, and of course, ask away! See ya!
Great question Craig! Yeah, it's clearly a roller. No need for 20 minutes of 2000 RPM break in for flat tappets. Welcome to the Channel, and hope to see you around more.
Great question! Two reasons... one, it's more expensive. Two, it's huge. There was a possibility that the TKO would fit without tunnel modifications. The T56 would absolutely require tunnel mods. Good news is I still have the final drive ratio that a T56 has, and the torque of my motor doesn't care in between 4th and 5th gear. :) Keep up the great questions!
Love this real world stuff man. So much better than tv shows. Thanks!!
Great! I figured I'd show new builders what it's like... Hope it helps!
Awesome man, congrats. She sounds beautiful!
Thanks Brother! Still gotta work out some gremlins, but great to be back driving again.
Great job! i know that nervous feeling on a fresh build start up.. you have done a good job and we have all learned something along the way..
Thanks Steven. I didn't realize, until I was editing, that even my breathing changed, which you could see. So glad it worked. ha, ha... and great to hear I've been able to pass along some knowledge. Thanks again for the comment, see you soon!
Beautiful Car Monty ! what are you running for an Exhaust ? Sounds Great 👍
Thanks! It's currently a 2.5" Magnaflow system. Might be upgrading to 3" eventually.

The more you drive the car the more the fitech learns your driving style.
Great video on set up
In tank pump is the way to lower noisey fuel pump
Agreed, and agreed... but, I think this comment should be on the FiTech first fire. :) Thanks!

Mike that sounds awesome, what size pushrods did you end up using?
Thanks, Bill! They're 9.050"
How come you didn’t go with a Tremec 6 spd?
