This whole video is still great, but I love the quote “We’re gonna have some of it all,” especially when used as an exclamation as if it’s not true for literally everyone.
"I started a forum in 2003 on perpetual motion. The discussion broke down into physics arguments which show no signs of stopping." -ripped off from XKCD, one of the best webcomics of all time
there were two perpetual motion machine in this video one involving science while other involving these collegehumor guys from going rich, to going broke, to rich again :p
My brain screams "Regular Motion Machine" at least once a month. When I die and they do the autopsy they'll find I don't actually have a brain, just a tape recorder playing audio from College Humor and Homestar Runner.
For some reason I come back to this video every month, and I even bookmark it. It's become my monthly ritual... But it's still fun to watch, like a... perpetual motion machine!
The problem is that a perpetual motion machine isn't free energy, only free energy storage. It doesn't get faster, it STAYS THE SAME. Just had to get that out of my system.
Tomaten Sosse the main axle along which the dolphins spin also rubs against the main... thing (so technical). So it would also eventually stop just from normal friction. Also there's no gravity in space, so probably not.
TheNiggBucket the amount of gravity in space is so miniscule that iut has no effect, unless you get close enough to planets or any other extraterrestrial bodies
The gravity is what makes planets orbit the sun. Gravity's effect in space is just the same as the effect in our atmosphere. It's all a matter of distance and mass.
I completely agree with what your saying, i'm studying electromagnetism right now. The thing is where do electrons get there energy to spin without slowing down, when we speak of magnet lossing energy, its the domain orientation that effects the field strength as they don't cancel out when facing parallel in the the same direction. But those fields are still there, the electron is still spinning producing a magnetic field, we know it still spins, if it didn't chaos would exist.

It's still not on Kickstarter, race ya to it!
That's the point, it was better than the not a motion machine
This whole video is still great, but I love the quote “We’re gonna have some of it all,” especially when used as an exclamation as if it’s not true for literally everyone.

The arguments showed no signs of stopping? Perpetual Motion Machine!
If the forum keeps producing debates about perpetual motion machines, then it’s a perpetual perpetual motion machine machine.
I actually really enjoyed that

Your mom should have her own sitcom.

Best collegehumor season.
Such a great sketch, and such a wonderful message for the kids:
the real perpetual motion machine were all the friends we made along the way.
This is one of CH's best videos
It’s funny because even if you had a perpetual motion machine, you wouldn’t be able siphon energy of it without killing the perpetual motion.

well, that escalated quickly
Man, that's like my favorite CollegeHumor sketch. So wholesome. So uncontroversial. Really can't say anything bad aboud it.
Perhaps the real perpetual motion machines were the grandmas we sold along the way?
college humor all nighter sketches are some of the best
Dolphins... Willies... Anybody?

TotalWeirdo Orca, yeah, but it still reminded me of it.

Why CH stopped doing these, I'll never know :(
I love how when Murph calls his mom, it's someone else's left hand holding the phone to his right ear.
NOT A MOTION MACHINE!
It's really old sketch, but I regularly pay my re-visit. It's just really wholesome and good!

No, and nor was this cake liying either.
+i8plumcake although, a perpetual motion machine is technically impossible

Long story, here's why:
Such... Such a good skit. One of the best
Since when did looking at comments on UA-cam give me a lesson in physics.
This is still one of my favorite sketches of all time.
when CH was still entertaining and not some buzzfeed clone
Agreed! I'm starting to think they stopped doing the hardly working and all nighter series because the new cast couldn't come up with anything good.
One of my all time favorite sketches.
The machine stops moving due to air resistance, right? So in a vacuum would it work forever until it breaks? What about in space?
Tomaten Sosse the main axle along which the dolphins spin also rubs against the main... thing (so technical). So it would also eventually stop just from normal friction. Also there's no gravity in space, so probably not.
okay Thanks :)
Aymbaut Of course there is gravity in space. What the hell?
TheNiggBucket the amount of gravity in space is so miniscule that iut has no effect, unless you get close enough to planets or any other extraterrestrial bodies
The gravity is what makes planets orbit the sun. Gravity's effect in space is just the same as the effect in our atmosphere. It's all a matter of distance and mass.
