My sister (Jillian) saw it first in the 80s before I came along. I watched it in the 90s. Right now......it's not on tv anymore since time passed. I watched "Gumby: The Movie" when I was little. It was pretty good.
Carson Rensch I watched it in the early 2000's when I was in, I think, kindergarten (I'm 17 now). I've only seen snipits of "Gumby: The Movie," but never actually seen the whole thing.
You get it! I always thought this was an LSD inspired animation, even the music is psychedelic...I watched this right before I started smoking weed in the early 70's
Sounds like at 1:26 pokey exclaims "damn!" when gumby got down to eating over half his peanut butter sandwich. Like censorship required for it to sound more like "man!" than otherwise. Artfully Slick voice work there (and pun not intended Mr. Art C)!
I wish I'd seen it when I was a young kid, myself. I've seen some episodes at an older age and enjoyed them. It's just too bad we don't see much like this now; nowadays, we mostly get stuff like the Teen Titans acting like goofballs, ducks shaking their butts at the camera, butts bouncing around, and other gross jokes! XP
It's the Gumby version of the 1937 Warner Bros. cartoon "Pigs is Pigs!" This is another sign on how Art Clokey wasn't involved much with the late 1960s Gumby episodes, with characters acting really out-of-character at times (like here, with Gumby suddenly being obsessed with eating.)
Art Clokey pretty much was in Asia and studying Eastern Asian religions. Art Clokey pretty much wasn't in the later episodes of "Davey & Goliath", another claymation show he also created. It's ironic that the creator of a Christian children's show happened to be a Zen Buddhist. No surprise that Art Clokey prefers Gumby over Davey & Goliath any day.
+Hailey Shannon And reused by Stanley Kubrick in 1971 in the horror classic "A Clockwork Orange", the first SK film made by the Looney Tunes studio, Warner Bros.! Nice to hear the original background music. Gumby is proof that "real boys" DO like ponies!
Expect in the end, Gumby decided to skips dinner after that horrible nightmare he had after mooching off. While in "Pigs Is Pigs", Piggy completely forgot his horrible nightmare and have breakfast in the end. This version have more of a moral in the end.
Unlike in the Warner Bros. cartoon, "Pigs Is Pigs", the character, Piggy who is pretty much of a negative stereotype of a pig of being a greedy and selfish glutton still eats after his nightmare.
in '68 I was 5 yrs old and it was strange , you didn't want it to be because pokey was neat and gumby was all right but even at 5 the imaginary things they would go in to were nothing like what our imaginations would have done . I never stuck it out through each story , definitely creepy . Johnny quest was the shit you just knew hadgi was gonna have to save their ass and you trusted in that " sim sim sala bim" or " bandit! get back in the boat before you get eaten " or whatever . and his scared little ass would come hauling ass around the corner until he had enough people around him to act like badass . makes me laugh even now . and johnnys dad was always a little to busy , just like your own dad was but you made the best of it and cherished the precious few minutes you did get to be part of a whole . being near your dad and just loving him .
In Gumby's nightmare- Pokey reminds me of 3 people 1)Freddy Krueger 2)Arthur Slugworth 3)Francis's friend who stole Pee Wee's bike in -Pee Wee's big adventure.. I mean a little bit of each character right..
Yeah. A reversed centaur. A head of a horse and a body of a man. Mr. Stuff is also like Freddy Kruger in a form of human-horse hybrid wearing a chef's hat.
Are you serious?....of course we did....and we turned out just fine....scary as it may seem....lol......but of course, I was only 5 at the time......however, I will admit....it did disturb me on some level...but in a 'sensible' way....'gluttony' was clearly a bad idea....and it stuck....for all the right reasons....cheers!
Yeah. And while it would scare today's kids, I doubt the kids of the 1960s were horrified since they knew it was pretend (plus it was teaching a lesson).
I literally have not seen this since the 80’s!!! 😂 This is the best laugh I’ve had in years!!! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
I remember this episode from a VHS tape I always watched when I was younger!!^.^ One of my favorite shows growing up!!
My sister and I love that show when we were little
Carson Rensch It's SOOO GOOD!!!

there is gonna be a gumby reboot!
I've always loved Pokey's voice! Nice job, Art Clokey!
Also, who else wants back when shows and movies weren't afraid of originality?
I used to love watching this as a kid. Now, it seems horrifying.
Take a look at Davey & Goliath, absolutely bone chilling.
🤣
It definitely taught Gumby his lesson though. You get greedy, you end up having nightmares!
it scared me as a kid, i think it gave me derealization lol.
Nah if you want actual horrifying look up how Gumby and Pokey look in the upcoming 2d animated kids show.
My God I loved this gumpy when I was child . This was my favorite . Remembered my child hood how beautiful days
You mean "Gumby", not "Gumpy".
I’m only the larvae of a tadpole in a pond, and I LOVE Gumby.

Gumby after smoking pot
You get it! I always thought this was an LSD inspired animation, even the music is psychedelic...I watched this right before I started smoking weed in the early 70's

@@josephesposito3499lmao
Did David Lynch watch this when he was young
He would've been 22 years old, but the question is still valid.
He actually has said that he did
hello from film twitter
Gumby sure was out of character here, being obsessed with eating. It's like the Gumby version of the 1937 Warner Bros. cartoon "Pigs is Pigs!"
That Gumby you like is going to come back in style.
what the fuck does that mean?
I loved Gumby (character) and his voice. It’s so cute and innocent. 🥺
GEEE Sorry Ma... I thought you said just leave 1...😁😆😅🤣
LMAOOOOOOOOOOO
At least Gumby learned a valuable lesson from all this. You get greedy, you end up having nightmares!
Did Pokey just say damn?! lol
He said "Ahem", as a way of getting Gumby's attention.
😂😂😂
I was looking for this comment before I did it myself 🤣🤣🤣🤣 I rewound it a few times to make sure
Yeah he's like Damn, Son
Devouring my samich
No, he was clearing his throat to get Gumby's attention. He was mad because Gumby was eating his sandwich.
Sounds like at 1:26 pokey exclaims "damn!" when gumby got down to eating over half his peanut butter sandwich. Like censorship required for it to sound more like "man!" than otherwise. Artfully Slick voice work there (and pun not intended Mr. Art C)!
SwarthySkinnedOne He said, "Ahem!"
+Nicoletta Bates

Gumby had the munchies from smoking too much weed.
YUP. Very psychedelic inspired animation

I loved this show when I was little

I always thought it was just Gumby being a hungry teenager
This was based off an old Looney Tunes cartoon called"Pigs is Pigs"
+Hailey Shannon And reused by Stanley Kubrick in 1971 in the horror classic "A Clockwork Orange", the first SK film made by the Looney Tunes studio, Warner Bros.!
Nice to hear the original background music.
Gumby is proof that "real boys"

Steve Carras Are you suggesting Gumby's a brony? XD
Expect in the end, Gumby decided to skips dinner after that horrible nightmare he had after mooching off. While in "Pigs Is Pigs", Piggy completely forgot his horrible nightmare and have breakfast in the end. This version have more of a moral in the end.
No..:)
makes sense, the creator of Gumby is a big time christian
The “slap “ sound the ice cream made when it hit his face 😂😂😂
Why is it so horrific lol
Iike when Homer eats all the donuts in the world lol 😂 ❤

I'm here because of the New edition movie 😂😂😂😂 I wanted to see what Bobby was talkin about
This is where greed gets the better of us. Remember that next time, Gumby.
Norma MacMillan did the voice of Gumby, Casper the Ghost and Davey from Davey & Goliath. Her daughter played Nellie Olson on Little House.
This is my introduction video to Gumby
My favorite episode.
One of my favorite episodes.
So in the end Gumby just fills up on junk food and doesn't eat his dinner. Great moral, well done
Unlike in the Warner Bros. cartoon, "Pigs Is Pigs", the character, Piggy who is pretty much of a negative stereotype of a pig of being a greedy and selfish glutton still eats after his nightmare.

James belushi called Arnold schwarzenegger gumby in the 1989 movie Red heat. I came to find out about gumby. I like him.
Gumby let his appetite get the better of him.
I expected Gumby to have a adult voice
Who else made There selves a peanut butter sandwich? Lol I did!
I eat those all the time!
Got milk?
this did scared me as a kid
That dilemma reminds me of myself when I get into Debra Carpenter's food and drinks. :-(
My dad died while this on the TV lol
Gumby was on that good good
Mr. Stuff who looks like an evil part-human version of Pokey is almost likes the original Freddy Krueger.
Nightmare of elm street came out in the 80s so what a prediction
SNL brought me here
I want everything in his dream!
Supersized!
I’m gonna watch SML because This is scaring Gumby
In Gumby's nightmare-
Pokey reminds me of 3 people
1)Freddy Krueger
2)Arthur Slugworth
3)Francis's friend who stole Pee Wee's bike in -Pee Wee's big adventure.. I mean a little bit of each character right..
and Maybe Audrey II from Little Shop of Horrors.
Gumby was rather out of character in this one, with him eating a lot...
By right, Pokey eats more than Gumby does.

Gumby’s nightmare
Mr. Stuff kinda reminds me of the first boss from Zelda 2... Does anyone else see what I mean?
Yeah. A reversed centaur. A head of a horse and a body of a man. Mr. Stuff is also like Freddy Kruger in a form of human-horse hybrid wearing a chef's hat.
I think Mr Stuff is turned on by Gumby's situation...
Your a gumby lover too? 😍
Verde Reina.
50 shades of clay

The Simpsons copied this in one of their Halloween specials.
True, they could have got the idea from pigs is pigs as well.
Yes they did.
Why is gumby doing all this
At least it's not too graphic
Where's my grub, jon?

children's shows were way better then .Agree
Yeah. And while it would scare today's kids, I doubt the kids of the 1960s were horrified since they knew it was pretend (plus it was teaching a lesson).
Pokey as Mr. Stuff in Gumby's nightmare is almost likes the original Freddy Kruger.
