That's my hometown bro so proud.. Ngurnit mt.poi largest facerock mountain in Africa
Epic mate, I`ve not missed one episode, well done and thank you for existing
Great adventures. Such videos are rare for Kenya. Not too many venture extreme. Kudos! Such videos tell me how far EV's are, only good for urban.
Great stuff there in Northern Kenya. Very remote there in Turkana all alone.
That's the way to live, I'm inspired. the world is yours we are simply helping you live in it
I went through that road..from loiyangani to Ethiopia, with land rover 110 series,it was rough and tough
Must have been quite the adventure hey?
Saw you on Cody’s channel and have to say I subscribed I’m pumped to catch up on all your vids
Awesome trip Dan and thank you for sharing...as always really enjoyed your video and adventure
A remarkable drive within a remarkable journey.
Brings back some great memories! Cool to see you camped next to the mountain the day before getting to Turkana...I put that spot in ioverlander a few years ago!
That's awesome!
Wonderful presentation..💯😎 I was glued all the way.. Keep it up, thank you for visiting Kenya. Karibu tena.👍
I'm from Codys channel too. You are a very Brave soul! VERY INTERESTING. Thank you!
Watched your interview with Wranglerstar. Liked what I saw and subbed. Take care
Dang, crazy going 3 days and not seeing anyone. Thanks for the update.
So Enjoyable as usual. Great vid. Steve
What a beautiful adventure! through something to let you know Lucy is found in a place called
Hadar, in North-Eastern part of Ethiopia.
Interesting video. Your photography is gorgeous. Thanks for sharing.
Subscribed,,,,Nice shots...love from Kenya
I'm here because of Mr. WRANGLERSTAR, subbed!
Just discovered your channel this is so so beautiful. Thank you.
Another amazing video
Wow. Good on you. Glad you made it.
Here from Wranglestar.... Love the channel... You'll be at 100k in no time! ☺
I saw your site a couple of yrs., ago & absolutely loved it & your build!!!! Later I forgot the name of your channel...I've been looking for it ever since, even asking other jeep utubers if they knew the one they built the three modular box units, to no avail. I got on @ saw in mix flip site ( overland expo 2019 10th anniversary sneak peak ) he was filming & from a distance I saw the back of your jeep with two exposed boxes...I took magnifying glass & saw your utube name!!!! I am delighted!!! Thank you for the most wonderful jeep build I've ever seen!!! Believe me , in trying to find your site again I've checked thousands & yours is hands down the very best!!! Safe travels !!!!
Thanks Pamela! If you have any questions about the whole build or the trip, just let me know! If you want to see it in person, I'll be at a bunch of 4x4 / Jeep and Overland shows across North America this summer. Full list is here : theroadchoseme.com/touring-overland-shows-in-2019
Could you show us now what is packed where & anything you've got rid of & things you've replaced them with since your wonderful trips started, since space is a premium....it's important to learn from the best the dos & don't of what needed, wanted, & what wasn't . Also could you film your camp set up & use from beginning to end...what & how this works? I thank you for all the videos !!!!
Hi Pamela, Absolutely, I will film all of that! .. just give me some time to finish editing the videos from Africa, then I'll get onto some "re-cap" type stuff. Thanks for the input!
I Thank you!!! Seeing what to pack & where. Seeing a demonstrated set up , showing how you live in it ..from setting up the jeep, cooking, lounging in it during storms etc., showering, sleeping & breaking up camp. The thorough walk thru of water filling tank, the contents of the box system. I am so looking forward to this all !!
I will do it Pamela, I promise.
Epic vlog,I have to start from 1 cant get enough of it
Roughly 500 miles with a 21 gallon fuel tank and 12 gallon reserve... the minute you said you started back-tracking, I started getting nervous watching! Awesome video as always.
I share same feelings
haha, me too! I had less than 20 miles of range left when I eventually found guys selling gas out of containers - there was no "station" where I thought there was in Southern Ethiopia
@@TheRoadChoseMe are you still over there?
Lucky you didn't run into any local Rebels
@@The-realnews rebels don't attack foreigners. They only attack locals who are fighting for the common interest.
All the best, I hope you have a safe journey and hope that you get it fixed easily. Regards
All I can say is wow!
Top rate, mate! True wilderness travel.
Small Correction: Lucy's remains are found in Afar Ethiopia not in Kenya. The one found near Turkana is called: Turkana boy.
Stunning
Wow. Quite spectacular.
Great to meet you Dan . Coming over from Cody's place to support you
Great adventure. Can't wait for the book that I assume is to come.
Absolutely. The photography coffee table book is out now on Amazon. The written book is in the works, but it's going to take some time. I have a lot of stories to tell, and I want to do Africa justice.
You're living my dream! Love your videos!
Rio Verde Westward Overland no he’s living my dream!
Simply amazing.
These are awesome
Great videos
Love this Expedition NEXT Time pass by my Store for Your Desert Footwear
I’d love to see a new updated video on your Jeep setup and how you made it all work. Like show us how it looks when you’re going to sleep, how it looks when you’re cooking, etc
Absolutely, I'll do a bunch of videos like that and "What worked, what didn't work" when I'm done editing and uploading all the Africa vids!
@@TheRoadChoseMe I would be happy joining you,am from Kenya
Very beautiful view...

Cheers!
Just saw the "Left" sign on your dash :) Clever reminder to keep left
Awesome!
You deserve a “key to the city of Africa”
What a great ambassador for travel you are with these stories you’re sharing.
I’ve really enjoyed watching and learning.
Food- you certainly could spin off a series mainly around your diet and interesting food interactions with locals.
Nothing like smiles and good food to break down a communication barrier!
Wow, thank you
Welcome back come again. If you need company & guide next time we can always get in touch
Karibu kenya safiri salama
Sheesh you made me worried there for a second!
Wah! Man you are daring! I got so nervous about you gas! Was like watching a scary movie! You are amazing
I was too!
I hope you have good time greeting from Ethiopia 💚💛❤
Woooow…… abit scary but looks fun too. I think I can do this too
AWESOME
Cody recommended you, glad he did, 👍 from new sub.
Great stuff keep it up but I wish it wasn't sped up so I can see the magical scenes to my satisfaction
My partner and a couple of his colleagues were hired as drivers/guides were hired to drive a filming crew around in this area. It was very tiring and exhausting but also dangerous as there are bandits is that area. Glad to see you arrived safely
Cool!
the road itself is a adventure
New subscriber here from Wranglerstars channel
Jeez! Takes some guts
My God you are sooo caregious💪👍
Its a great video but oh my gosh I don't think I will ever tried this its crazy to be alone out there
Turkana my home town🏠🏢
well come.
It's amazing how you did that in a jeep, you need to market. It
It’s funny I only found him Bc we just past him down the road going through Virginia
Buddy, Lucy was Found in Ethiopia, not Kenya :) The park is trying to cash in on that tourist money because Lucy or DINKINESH, in Ethiopian, is from East Africa--Nice Vlog nonetheless ! ETHIOPIA IS IN East Africa so you know.... Driving on Left/Right Side doesn't mean East or North Africa :)
At the start of the video you can actually see the curve of the earth.such a great thing to have "genuine" NASA and scientist
Nice
Another WS delivery 📦
Wait a minute I had to stop the video and ask a question, you had driven three days and have not a single person? My goodness and all alone. I wanna take this trip when I come to Africa. I will be driving a defender 110
Oh that was an amazing route mate! We were anxious too, watching these remote stretches and we wondered what you can really do if something goes very wrong. Your little Jeep rules 👍 Thanks for sharing!
Did you eventually face any problems with the differential?
Amazing trip! I keep viewing your videos through the different countries (am from Uganda). Are there videos of modification of the car? What's your fuel tank capacity?
I'm happy you're enjoing it! I can carry about 130l of petrol, for a range of roughly 900km on decent roads.. maybe 600km on really bad roads.
Videos of the Jeep build are here: ua-cam.com/video/4sLy5NEr-Hg/v-deo.html
Lucy is in Afar region of Ethiopia but I hope you made to kobi fora along the loyangalani
You are too brave to be all alone I envy that and also fear it 😂
Hi Dan, cool, unbelievable how remote certain locations are, did you manage to fix the oil leak?
Not yet. I'm keeping an eye on it, have to come up with a plan - either dig in and replace the axle seal, or add a "quick fix" that's like an outer axle seal. Not sure yet.
Awesome, awesome! This should make a good commercial for Jeep. I wonder if you had extra fuel tanks on the Jeep. Was the vehicle reinforced for the trip?
Extra tank on the back - video of using it here ua-cam.com/video/anjAoYw8BLM/v-deo.html
Jeep wasn't reinforced in any way.
Brother where did you get the africa hood decal. My best friend is from Africa, Zambia and hes even looking to make his jeep apart of his mother land.
I don't want this to end :(
Great ! I heard there are bandits there.
lucey's remains are found in Hadar, Ethiopia
Hi ave seen alot of your videos.
Please tell me how much was the road toll of in Ethiopia from Kenya and Egypt from Ethiopia.
I would like to go home from Britain to Kenya, but I will take the car by ferry to Egypt as I dont have Visa for France and Spain.advise me coz next year around March,I would like to drive home, then advise me of the kind of budget.
Am a tour guide in Kenya and I worked for G Adventures doing overland from Kenya to capetown n back
How much field didi you use from Nairobi
🔥🔥🔥
You know the car to pick for this kind of adventure
I did this route with Toyota Fortuner 1GR FE. It was fun. Ethiopia is part of East Africa, not North Africa. Great Content
Hi, planning a trip up to lake turkana in September and would like to follow a similar track. Where did you turn off the main highway (the one headed to Marsabit)?
I bought fuel here (www.ioverlander.com/places/75038-desert-oil), then went West... stay south west as long as you can, I wild camped basically here (the mountains) - www.ioverlander.com/places/75039-sandy-freecamping-spot
Amazing! I'd be nervous too. Did you take that route for the adventure of it, or to avoid something dangerous?
A bit of both actually. The main road between Kenya and Ethiopia was essentially a war zone in the weeks leading up to my crossing, so I wanted to avoid it at all costs.
The Road Chose Me War zone? Really?
@@jeffchurum1431 there's usually bandits and warring communities in those parts. I was actually worried that he might drive into bandit area like Kapedo.
Which one is the best SUV 4X4 to use in circumnavigation? Toyota Land Cruiser, Toyota Land Cruiser (PRADO) Jeep,Landrover or Toyota Fortuner?
i bet the wildlife there is awesome
There was almost none. It's extremely barren
I would like to accompany you all the way towards the middle east it is my wish to go to qatar
