    I'd really love to see an eventual video of all the power banks directly compared on if they can support a UPS-like operation.
    It's not their primary use, true. But they look good as on-the-go external batteries for something like a sub 65w mini-PC. You're one of the only people that went over data crucially noting that some of the USB ports will reset if another port has a change.

    I really want someone to open up this power bank. I just received mine and was surprised to see the 3950mAh*7. I would think that means that it does not use 6 2170 cells like the 737. The past Anker power banks I’ve used have had pretty accurate representations of how the cells are positioned in the pack in marketing material compared to teardown videos, and the Anker 250W battery is the first to showcase pouch styled cells in the marketing material that I know of. This would seem like the first time Anker didn’t use cylindrical cells which I presume is for better volumetric density.
    Thanks for this amazing and thorough test. It did almost reach the claimed 240W for 2 USB C ports. I wished you went ahead and added a USB A device just to max it out because using all 3 ports is when Anker claims 250W. I did figure out how to turn off that USB A output by putting it on the base and pressing and holding the side button. Can’t figure out how to turn it off without the dock😅.

    Anker 27650 user here.
    I found some qwerks with this power bank.
    92% efficiency (92.1wh leeched out) at 94 watts of power. I ran my macbook at max performance for the whole time.
    You do NOT require PD 3.1 to reach the dual port 170 watts of charging claim! If you have a Wotobeus 200w or charger, or a UGREEN 200w or 300w charger, or Anker 240w charger, or any other multi port charger that has two 100w ports that CAN OPERATE AT FULL SPEED SIMULTANEOUSLY, you can reach the 170w claim.
    Once opening, the battery percentage is inaccurate. Please allow it to charge for at least 4 hours at 100 watts or more for the first time.

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  7 місяців тому

      Mine is still extremely inaccurate after many charges and discharges, that part is not good. I didn't try the multiport thing, I actually don't get it or care about it either. They really should have enabled EPR 180W charging if they wanted faster charging but nope, cheap and again not good on a top dollar power bank.

    After using it for a few weeks I will say this is by far my favorite bank to use. I have a bunch of oppo/oneplus devices that use Supervooc (proprietary charging tech) and this is the only battery I’ve seen that does the full 65w that US supervooc allows. Also the app (while questionable) is undeniably a great feature. Minimal battery drain (according to Anker it’s .12mw per hour or so because it uses BT LE)….don’t know if it’s accurate but my favorite feature is a find my battery feature. Anker definitely hit a home run too.
    Also it’ll fast charge with huawei, ROG 80w, QC5, and most other fast charge standards as well from what I’ve seen (a bit of a tech hoarder here)

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  4 місяці тому

      ha, yeah, I'm a lab equipment hoarder but also acquire too much tech, so much I made a channel out of it. Thanks for the reporting on devices and uses for this though. I don't have any Vooc or related devices to test with so I always skip that part. I think the ZMI no20 also has this feature but you have to use the 'special' USB A to C cable that comes with the power bank.

    • @jimwaldsmit7983
      @jimwaldsmit7983 4 місяці тому +2

      @@AllThingsOnePlace technically speaking supervooc as a charging standard is better than PPS, QC5, and Samsung fast charge just due to the way Chinese manufacturers like oppo, huawei, OP, Vivo design their phones. Unlike with most devices that use one continuous battery cell most of the Chinese phones use dual cell so they can charge 2x+ as fast (120w or higher in some cases) and because it’s two cells they actually age slower than a single cell battery (oneplus rates around 1600 cycles) and they seem to charge at full speed even with screen on (thermal limitations apply). Tested the 250w with oppo, huawei, vivo, oneplus, and a few others. I can confirm that power IQ 2 usb A will supply faster charging than usb c on the same battery….averaging 18-28w for usb c vs 40-65w on usb A. Not sure what Anker is doing but it’s working. Just a little bit of information I felt would be useful

    Do you do a rated capacity test? Many of the powerbanks has this listed in specs. I think I saw the UGreen with 14500mAh. This seems to done at 5V so seems like a good real world test to test useable battery capacity and dc dc converter efficiency before bms switches off. This would be relatively easy standardised test to do on all powerbanks. Great test you have to done show UGreen doesnt stand up to high discharge rates. Keep up the good work.

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  2 місяці тому +1

      Everyone does it differently. The voltage would only be part of the equation. I don't only use the 5V setting test since it's unfair to some and would make others look great. What I do instead is a full load and a partial load test on larger power banks, and the 5V or 9V test on a smaller power bank representing a typical phone as the load. It is a time balance thing too. I'd do more testing but spending days testing power banks for a couple extra data points that will only give you a small amount more information does not seem a worth while trade off.

    I have been waiting for this review! Anker states this bank supports dual input charging up to 170W on their website: "170W Fast USB-C Recharge: Recharge your power bank at lightning speed with the convenience of dual USB-C ports, allowing you to fully replenish it in just 37 minutes." I did not see that tested nor it mentioned in one way or another. Can you test that capability?
    I love my two Anker 737 banks(got 1 for free). With the MASSIVE battery(99.6Wh) in my Apple MBP 16" M2 Max, the additional capacity of this new bank calls to me. Is it worth it? Sounds like the 737 has more accurate display information(100% actually means 100%?), but you mentioned this new one does 140 power delivery MUCH better than the 737. What does that mean exactly?

    • @TheStopwatchGod

      The Anker 737 requires a break after discharging the entire battery at 140W. AllThingsOnePlace said during the 140W discharge test he had to wait for 1 hour before the powerbank would let him charge it again.
      The Prime 27,650mAh powerbank, however needs no such break. It can output 140W and recharge at 140W all day long with no overheat

      you just need some multiport 200w+ charger to get this to work. Ugreen nexode 200w and 300w will work with this. Wotobeus 200w charger will also do the trick.
      you could also hog up two wall outlets and then plug two 100w PD 3.0 chargers with two 5 amp cables and it will also work. It'll just split the charge 20v 4.25a + 20v 4.25a

    I purchased the Anker one with a huge sale. I confess I did not need it (I’m generally rarely out of juice) but I was curious to have the shiny gadget. I also purchased the base station on sale which makes also it a fun gadget (the base is also a power hub so it was not that a bad deal even if it does not negotiate well with some things). The pair looks cool and I was surprised that the magnet was so strong.
    The battery does feel and looks great. It works also very well at 100w without much heat.
    However do we really need all these fancy display and BT features ? I doubt it and they are more potential points of failure.

    The Anker power bank displayed violates transport by air. Anker tries to hide the fact that it is below the 100Wh permitted to travel on an aircraft at 4:48 by listing it as 99.54Wh; however, the capacity (27,650mah) exceeds what is permitted on passenger aircraft (27,027mah). When looking further, it is 7 smaller batteries with capacity of 3,950mah each @ 25.2V. As a whole, this power bank have a Watt Hour rating of 696.78Wh, which is nearly 7 times higher than what is permitted on a passenger aircraft. Additionally, this battery comes with a UN3480 warning which in detail according to the IATA, it is forbidden from travel on passenger aircraft

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  4 місяці тому +1

      Although Anker certainly played with the numbers to put it 'under' 100 wh, the requirements are actually none of the above, it is the amount of lithium metal present in the battery, which can be explosive, and is extremely difficult to measure when in a battery. So, the limits on the FAA and IATA are based around rated Wh limits. They do not state mAh limits since they don't mean anything and may relate to the battery capacity but don't tell you the actual battery capacity. They also allow up to 160 Wh batteries with permission. Also, no, the pack is not nearly 700 Wh.

      @ajb627871 4 місяці тому +1

      @@AllThingsOnePlace They’re 7 batteries in the pack, each with 99.54Wh. If you use a MaH to Wh calculator and measure 3,950MaH at 25.2V, it will come out to 99.54Wh.
      3,950MaH x Nunber of Batteries in Pack (7) = 27,650Mah
      99.54Wh x Number of Batteries in Pack (7) = 696.78Wh (Combined)

    • @childone4315
      @childone4315 4 місяці тому

      sorry to interrupt. its actually easier to calculate the total Wh when you calculate the Wh for each lithium battery, 3.6v x 3950mAh (that is 14,220mWh) and then you multiply by 7. so 14,220mWh x 7 batteries = 99,540mWh or 99.54Wh@@ajb627871

      That seems like a lot for a camera. If you are really trying to do a long time lapse you are going to need to get that connected to the mains, 30 watts times 24 hours is 720 watt hours, these power banks are more like 70 watt hours, so you aren't going to get far. I use my gopro for time lapses all the time, it runs for a day off the anker prime with plenty of time to spare, it has an internal battery so I swap power banks if needed, but yeah it's a gopro not a big camera.

    It appears the Anker Prime powerbanks are good looking, but so so technically. However, for simple charging of an iPhone 15 Pro Max, will they serve such a purpose or would you recommend something different? Cost isn’t the issue for me I just want it to work quickly and effectively.

      The Prime 250W is a good power bank if you want a lot of energy. The zmi has been all over with me and held up so far. It's a bit big and heavy but I just see that as a challenge. These both have plenty of power for an iPhone and will be efficient and cool at those power levels.

    They seem to think that getting 100s of watts from things this size without any "external dissipation" is achievable in a sealed plastic case.

      I have no idea but hyperjuice was early to this mess with 200W power banks that all had to be pulled off the market because they overheat and now everyone else is doing it. All the tiny power adapters also suffer this problem.

    I have the ugreen powerbank, the c2 and A port stopped working😢 any idea why that would happen

      During my testing the top of the power bank gets quite hot and seeing as though it shuts off at only 50 watts out, I think it overheats and in time I expect this could cause early failure.

    Ugreen released an upgraded version of this powerbank that supports PD 3.1 on USB-C and claims to have 140W output on that one... I wonder if anything else changes, e.g. efficiency

    any testing on the 170w dual port recharge on anker one? they say it recharge from 0 to 100% in 37 minute

    • @AllThingsOnePlace
      @AllThingsOnePlace  7 місяців тому +1

      No I didn't test that, only 140W. It might get to 100% on screen in that time but that's not even close to done charging when it says 100%, so there's that. I'd expect it to be a little faster than the 140W charging but there's other issues with that mode on the electronics side that will limit the capabilities.

      I think it's the same as the zmi one just rebranded.
