- Teamsters President Sean O’Brien is facing internal backlash after the union's national leadership opted not to endorse Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign. Former Teamsters President Jim Hoffa criticized O’Brien’s decision on Thursday, calling it a “failure of leadership,” marking the first time in nearly three decades that the union has chosen not to back a presidential candidate.
“This week, the International Brotherhood of Teamsters Union (IBT) made a choice to not endorse a candidate in the presidential race between Vice President Kamala Harris and former President Donald Trump,” Hoffa wrote in a statement. “This is a critical error and frankly, a failure of leadership by Sean O’Brien. This election is too important for our union to not do its duty. We must take a stand for working Americans.”

@@Zetirix They did get their sick days though, without a strike. The member did ratify the tentative so he strong armed both sides while saving the supply chain. I do agree though that it should be been handled better but slowing down a crawling supply chain could have had a strong impact on our recovery after CV19.

I was at the Taj when he did that!! Only one contractor got all of their money because they put a lien against his property and he couldn't open the Taj until the lien was lifted!! All other contractors had to settle for pennies on the dollar or NOT get paid at all and went out of business!

The Teamsters membership demo is 60% white, and 60% male. There is a faction within union membership that doesn’t like the demographics of the coming decades that they will not be the majority. There is also a faction of union members that have issues with non white and non male supervision or leadership.
