It’s amazing how detailed ankle joint movements are, especially when you don’t usually think about it during everyday activities like walking or running. The GIFs and images Dr. Goodin uses really helped me understand this better as a visual learner. I also appreciate how footwear technology has advanced to support the foot
Walking, running, standing, jumping, whatever it might be is so natural you don't think twice about how truly complex the foot actually is. Great break down of the foot joint movements!
I liked how Dr Goodin used the images on the presentation to explain where everything is located and how it all contributed to each other, this helped me understand more about each movement the foot is capable of.
I think it is so cool how certain joint movements like knee flexion have such a significant effect on the ROM of certain positions like dorsiflexion. It was awesome to see the complexity of the ankle and I think it is so crazy that it is able to bear so much weight!
Honestly the ankle is one of my favorite joints to learn about for the body since there's so many interesting ways it adapts to how we move on a daily basis! Great video summarizing the joint movements!
I find the GIFs of the movements very helpful as well as when Dr. Goodin uses images to describe what he is explaining. It is very helpful as a visual learner.
Taking care of your feet is so crucial to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. The joint movements covered in this video gave me a great idea of what to take extra care of when focusing around the foot and ankle
I always appreciate that you draw on the images to show us exactly where everything is. I also liked that you talked about common injuries like plantar fasciitis and ankle sprains.
Dr. Goodin, the way you described how our joint movements work allowed me to understand the depth of complication that is involved even in an exercise, such as running. I appreciate the way you described the motions.
This video taught me how common plantar fasciitis is and helped me understand the function of plantar fascia. Again it was helpful that Dr. Goodin brought in a real life example to his video to help me understand how the foot functions.
I like how Dr. Goodin includes illustrations of each joint's plane of motion and range of degrees of movement as well as animations of each joint movement.
Showing the gifs at the end is a great way to really cement the actions of the foot into my brain. I especially appreciated the pronation and supination ones as those are little less intuitive to understand.
When fully understanding and breaking down the foot, it makes me realize and appreciate how technology in footwear has really developed over the years. From inserting a carbon plate to help with generating force to fully customizing shoes to the individuals foot.
I liked all of the demonstrations of the movements. I normally struggle with picturing the movements at the ankle and foot, so it was nice to see them all back to back.
This felt like a nice throwback to care and prevention when you included the different pathologies that can occur at the foot and ankle joint. The GIFs you include are always helpful since they provide a visual example of the joint movements.
So cool how dynamic the joints at the foot are and how things like knee flexion or extension can effect them. Also really liked learning some of the pathologies that can occur at the foot and ankle and why they may occur!
I was really glad that you explained pronation and supination of the foot. It is so complicated and a movement that we don't think to describe too often.
This video really helped me visualize everything better because of the way you go over everything in a way that's easy to follow along and all the pictures included!
I have learned so much about the ankle and ankle sprains in my care and prevention class. This video was helpful to understand the anatomy of the ankle at a more thorough level.
This video was very helpful for me! I really like how there were multiple slides with visuals because it helps me follow along through the video. I also liked how there were videos of the movements and not just pictures. Watching them just helps me grasp the concepts much better.
It’s crazy how complex the foot is! So many things go into the simplest movements that are essential to daily living, I’m glad to be learning about all of it!
It’s neat how much physics plays into our body and our body movements. I loved the dorsiflexion hack (roll out on foam roller or ball and allowing tension to release and then retest). Plantar Fasciitis is something I’ve had to deal with due to ramping up intensity too quickly so I loved how that was mentioned in this video.
I love learning about the joints because they are simple and complex all in one. I was able to understand better the difference between inversion and eversion. Thank you.
The images always really grasp the information he is trying to tell us and make it super easy to follow. Especially the gifs of showing the movements are great to see.
The complexity of the ankle is amazing. I enjoyed hearing about all of the moving parts, specifically the rotation of the fibula during dorsiflexion and plantarflexion.
I really enjoyed learning about the ankle joint, I had ankle reconstruction surgery years ago so it was fascinating to dive into the anatomy of this joint! The GIF's were also super helpful as well!
My mom had plantar fasciitis for a long time when I was growing up so it was really interesting to learn more about it. Thanks for making such a straightforward video
The complexity of the foot and ankle joints is fascinating. The explanation behind different joint movements is also helpful. It is interesting how supination and pronation consist of multiple movements.
I think having some knowledge of this from anatomy definitely helps but I like how in-depth this video gets and going through with the diagrams as you show like the ankle sprains really helps to see exactly where the injury occurs and what ligament it might be. Those really aren't things you are thinking about when the injury occurs but I feel like knowing about them can really give you more of a therapist pov.
It helped when you highlighted where the ligaments are in the foot because they were hard to pinpoint and it was also helpful to hear to explain the actions and give examples for better understanding of the topic
I frequently watch videos about ankle sprains (mechanisms and explanation of damage to ligaments) because I've sprained my ankle a few times in the past and also because it is probably the most common injury that occurs in the NBA. This video expanded my knowledge even more about this injury!
i found the videos of the foot movements to be really helpful in understanding what the words + actions actually look like. The actions on the foot are always confusing to me, so those were very beneficial
I didn't realize the ankle only dorsiflexes 15 to 20 degrees, I always thought it was more. Dr. Goodin did a good job of explaining all the details from the joints to the arches.
How you broke down the movements of each joint made it easier to understand and comprehend. I also found it interesting how pronating and supinating is involved in other movements.
The most interesting part to me was the explanation of pronation vs supination. I did not know how complex each movement was, and this video helped give me a better understanding of all the movements that make up pronation and supination.
I have sprained my ankle numerous times in the past and found that working with restricting bands really improved the strength of my ankle as well as its laxity.
I love how you used the real life example of your wifes experience in overtraining leading to plantar fascitis. Its also very inspiring to hear that she healed and is running faster than ever!
Mentioning the difference between a straight or bent knee during dorsi-flexion was very helpful! Foam rolling to release tension in the gastrocnemius is quite the task
This video gave a great explanation of the joint movements of the ankle and foot. Not only do the explanations help, but the videos within the video that actually demonstrate the joint action.
I knew eversion sprains were less common, but I did not know that part of it was due to the fibular head extending so far distally. I like how you elaborated on the arches storing elastic energy. Glad to hear your wife is running faster than ever!
I always think the video demo of the joint movement is very helpful! I also did not realise how many joints the foot and ankle has, all of which have a different way of articulating. I found this video to be very informative!
This was a great review of foot and ankle joints. I like that you talked about plantar fasciitis as this is so much more common than I realized it was.
I really enjoyed this video it was super cool to see how detailed the ankle joint is because when we are using our ankle we don’t really think it’s that complicated.
I appreciate your video! I am currently in anatomy and we never went over the ankle joints in this much depth before. Your information on the arches and ligaments of the foot were all new to me. Very interesting info!
Wow! The foot is so complex! All the intrinsic movements the foot can make is very interesting. The different types of ankles sprains were interesting to learn about too.
I really like how detailed this video was and how you described the connection of the bones in relation to the foot/ankle. I have had so many ankle sprains over my life and I can definently see the differences in the way I walk, run, etc compared to my friends who have had none or very little
After watching this lecture video on the joint movements of the ankle and foot, I found the information regarding foot arches to be very important and interesting. Due to the variety of arch height between the lateral longitudinal arch and medial longitudinal arch, this is the most dependent variable for foot and ankle stability.
I liked learning about the different arches, I never dove too deep into the anatomy of the foot and ankle with the anatomy course I took so this was very helpful!
This video was a great video to learn the joint movements of the foot and ankle. I remember learning that planterflexion is the movement of the foot downwards because it is towards the "plants" on the ground versus dorsiflexion is the foot moving upwards which would be towards the dorsal fin of an animal
It's crazy to know how the foot is so complex and i never thought it would be, but I like how you break down the movements of the ankle joint and pointed out the fun fact of pronouncing ginglymus-type joint!
It was very interesting to look at the ankle joint and the range from dorsiflexion to neutral to plantar flexion. Thanks for such an educational video!
