Testing the new Yonex VCore 97 and 100, which should you choose?

- I first picked the new Yonex ezone when it came out and now I'm thinking I found AN EVEN BETTER racket: the new Vcore 97. I'm using the Yonex Regis Comfort at 50lbs to compare both rackets.
It feels super smooth and soft, something that I like. Remember, all reviews are very subjective. The VCore 97 is also forgiving yet powerful, the 100 helps even more with off center hits.
I really thought I had found my dream racket with the ezone but I might have to have a VCore in my bag as well!

This was the first time watching one of your reviews. Thank you so much for providing concise, no nonsense, get to the point analysis of each racket under review.
Thank you for the very insightful video. I demoed a few racquets and ending up choosing the Vcore Pro 97. The demo process for me was very challenging because I felt I was mixing up my game style versus the player I wanted to be. When I decided to take the plunge and make the purchase, I took the VCP97 home, it felt different to the demo racquet. It took me a few sessions, change of string, etc to get it right. Now, I'm in love with it. I too am a single handed backhand (a righty) who loves to volley so this racquet really suited my game. But I did feel I really had to commit to the strokes. No shortcuts with technique or footwork otherwise this racquet will expose your flaws. More so with this racquet than other racquets. I had to make a slight adjustment to my forehand but I reckon it is more to do with my shortcomings. It really requires full flowing strokes.
Great stuff. Keep up the awesome work. A
PS: You have such a beautiful single handed backhand. In tennis, it is just so awesome to watch :)
Dear Meike, I recently found your channel very impressive. Your tips are useful, effective and honest than most.
Happy to hear that! I like to say what I see :-)
Happy you’ve finally tried those Vcore Pro’s! As a former pro player, they are more control. Now as a teacher, being softer, they will save your shoulder, add more pleasure to hours on court! Thank you for the review! 🙂
You're welcome and yes, I'm looking forward to teaching with that racket.
Hello Meike, so do I. Enjoy! 🙂
I'm 62 years old, baseliner 3,5 player. Ezone 98 or vcore pro 100, better for me ? Thank's
Hello Soebagio Atmodjo,
I suggest you try both. They are different in the feel, not only the size and make your choice. Depending on what you are looking for FORCE or TOUCH. ENJOY 🙂!
Nice video! I’m currently using Blade 98 v7 and it’s been great. After coming across this video I am super interested to try the VCORE Pro 97. Have you had experience playing with Wilson Blade ?
When accepting i am not good enough and too old to use my Vcore 95 I tried both the Vcore 97 and Ezone 98, I went for the Ezone becasue it was more forgiving and better on serves. The 97 however does have wonderful feel but it really needs complete swings and very good footwork and some added weight to 12 O'clock position to allow plough through agains heavy balls and flat serves. Both great racquets but the 97 is harder to use.
Thanks for sharing your test results.
Hi Meike - What about Vcore pro 330g? As you are a former WTA player does the heavier racket appeal more?_ more stable- more plowthrough?
If I were to compete I'd play with a heavier racket for sure. But since I only teach I need to save my arm a lot more so the lighter rackets help with that.
hi, great video, im following you now. i played a lot of tennis in my 13-18 with my beloved wilson kfactor 6.1 95 332g, then i stop playing. but i came back 1 year ago, im 35 now and im triying to compete again. would you recommend this vcore 97 310g or the 330g? Thanks
Du kannst richtig gut Schlägerreviews machen!
I know that the 97 Is better for the one handed backhand as it is faster through the air. But, does this vcore pro 100 work as well specially if I slice alot. I also hit with topspin and flat in my backhand but use a lot of offensive slice. Then as I said I hit with topspin with my forehand. So I have to sunm all of the factors and the bigger sweet spot of the 100 that is good in some way-more hitting zone and spin.
Yes the way you describe it, the 100 makes sense for uou
Hey, I'm beggin/interm player and I'm considering switch my Head Radical MP to Ezone 100 or Vcore pro 100. I'm struggling with 98sq racquets. Do you recommend those yonex to my level?
Yes, absolutely. The Vcore is a little more forgiving I feel and a little softer.
Hi! Any suggestion about the lighter version of Ezone 98 - 285 g for recreational player? I'm thinking to switch to Yonex from Babolat Pure Strike Team, I would like to try smaller head size for my one handed backhand. Babolat is also a stiff frame. I'm thinking also about Yonex Vcore Pro 97L - 290 grams. Any thoughts? Thanks for any advice ;)
Both ezone and Vcore 97 are great rackets. I probably love the most for my backhand. But you can’t go wrong with either
I am 53 years old Asian at 4.0, currently play the Head Prestige S (99 sq inches at 297g) which is a soft racket with less arm issues, but I really have to swing out every shot for power. I have hit the VCore 100 (Red color 2022 version, update from the Angelique Kerber endorsed version) and feel that it is a crispier racket. My peers have had arm issues with older EZone DR98. I wonder if you can describe how each of the 3 series would suit guys who are past 50 years old.
I really don't think it has much to do with age. Tennis elbow is most likely due to faulty technique and muscles and tendons that have to work in ways they shouldn't and then even the racket can help.
Does Yonex grips are bigger than average? I’m 4 1/2”, but I was told to decrease one size with this brand.
I don't think so. I feel they're the same as all standardized grips.
Hi Meike, what is the main difference between EZone 98 and VCore Pro 97. Both are great rackets in my opinion. Thanks for your feedback. Greetings from Germany
I feel I would probably use the VCore Pro if I were still competing. It feels like I get a little bit more pop on the ball. For teaching I use the Ezone a bit more often because it feels more comfortable and just a touch more forgiving.
@@MeikeBabelTennis Thanks Meike. Highly appreciate your feedback. Wishing a Happy New Year 2023.
@@MeikeBabelTennis Hi Meike, which of these two plays more relaxed ? Thanks.
With these rackets does the rexis work better than polyester? You hit flat or with topspin?
I think strings are so much individual preference. I do hit with a good amount of topspin.
Pretending I didn’t see this. I have an ezone 98 and a Prince Phantom Pro 100. Can barely tell the difference between those. Gotta learn how to better use those. If they break, I’ll cross that bridge then.
Cheers!
Which strings do you prefer and what tension?
I love the Rexis Comfort and depending on season I'm between 50-54 lbs
Does this string grab the ball to generate topspin?
In Europe the New Vcore pro came out before the Ezone 2022
I didn't know that. I wonder why they flipped it in the US
Are these 2022 versions, thus newer than the Ezone models?
Yes, they just came out a few months after the ezones
Do you prefer the newer 97 D over the older 97 HD?
I just switched to the 97 Vcore Pro, no D, and really love it
It all comes down to personal taste. But, I personally far preferred the older HD over the D version. Since I found the HD to be more flexible and have a much better feel and also a thinner beam. The HD was stiffer and hard for me to generate any spin.
Hi Meike, very nice video. I am in between VCore Pro 97 and Vcore 95. I am a one handed backhander . They both play very similar . What would you recommend from your experience? Thanks and best wishes from Germany.
I haven't played with the 95 so a little hard to say. I think the better player you are you can handle the smaller racket head sizes better. You can swing faster with the smaller racket head but you might give up some forgiveness. These days it's all about having the racket help my arm so I tend to a bigger racket but found the Vcore Pro 97 really smooth.
@@MeikeBabelTennis Thanks Meike. I will practice tomorrow with the 95 and the pro 97. Let’s see which one fits better.
Now I have tested vcore pro 97, 100 and vcore 95. I will go with vcore pro 97. very maneuverable and easy power with 16/19 string than vcore 95 16/20. 97 is perfect for my one handed backhand.
Which one you prefer ezone or vcore as you tried both?
I'm actually switching back and forth between them bc I can't decide which one I like better!
@@MeikeBabelTennis thanks
So 97 or 100? Which vcore pro did you choose
The 97, feels to me that it has the same stability and comfort as the 100 but a smidgen faster to maneuver
"Butter!"
Haha, it's a German thing to say "butter weich" - butter soft :-)
@@MeikeBabelTennis that was my first take at the racket too!
Does the vcore pro 100 give good topspin,? How does it compare with the extreme tour that I use? How would it do with black code, hyper g or poly tour spin? I hit with a lot of topspin and slice.
I found the Vcore Pro 100 to have low-medium level of topspin; a good deal less than both the Ezone 100 and Vcore 100.
It's there with the Vcore Pro but you have to work for it; if topspin is a mainstay of your game I'd say the Vcore Pro 100 is not what you're looking for. imo.
I’m thinking either Ezone 100 or Vcore pro 100. I find Ezone tad too much power and Vcore pro tad not enough power ☺️
Fair enough! That's when you can maybe find the middle ground with the strings. I find the Yonex Polytour Pro to be really powerful so maybe pair that with the Vcore. To tone it down a tad for the ezone, use the Yonex Rexis speed or comfort. I use the Rexis comfort no matter what bc I love a soft strings to help my arm.
@@MeikeBabelTennis 💪 💨
@Cameron yes, I felt the same. To me, the latest Ezone 100 has plenty of power and more easy spin than previous generations, but that's not my kind of game. I very nearly bought the Vocre Pro 100 but for me (decent intermediate) it was just a little underpowered as well. After demoing many racquets, I ended up with a different brand (Head Speed). Good luck!
Your backhand reminds me of Federer. Rexis not Regis strings.
oopsies, thanks for catching that
@@MeikeBabelTennis It seems like some one-handers only follow through so far on the drive. I think there are some lady Spaniards or Italians that allow more follow through, at the cost of more motion and less recovery time. I have 2HBH. Do Stan and Richard G. have a longer follow through? As a 2HBH’er, I hit one handed for simple drives and slices because the 2HBH is overkill sometimes and constrains the body as well. Against heavy serves and hitting down the line, it can help for stability to have two. Even with two hands, Berrettini failed the Nadal backhand test. No wonder Fed had mixed results in the test, on various surfaces. But Fed has numerous backhands - they’re all one-handed, but the similarities end there. Most players are made to pay for returning the ball to his side of the court, period.
Serves?
I don't serve anymore due to shoulder issues so no testing for serves for me.
Would you recommend the 97 or the 100 if I’m a person that hits with a lot of topspin?
I use a one handed backhand mostly slice but sine topspin. With the forehand I hit with powerful topspin drives. I’m an advanced player and tennis instructor.
I’m an advanced player but prefer the bigger sweet spot. Casper Rudd for example is a pro player that prefers 100 inch frame.
Which one gives more topspin capacity?
Which one is better for modern topspin strokes?
I drive the ball with heavy topspin but I’m looking for a more control racket with comfort. I have a tender arm.
