- Have a dead Lithium Ion battery that doesn't work? It might be in Deep Sleep. Find out how to bring it back to life.
Cellphone Battery. I should note that this is not testing the charge under load and therefore not an accurate reading of a batteries current charge. - Навчання та стиль
THIS IS SO LEGIT. I GOT MY OLD CHERRY MOBILE PHONE TO WORK, AND IT’S BEEN STAGNANT FOR LIKE 6 YEARS NOW WO
Super fantastic tutorial. We were able to bring a many-years dead LG phone battery back to life. As a note, I didn't have the battery-specific charger so had to wing it with the phone adapter (connected the usb end to phone adapter and then onto outlet). Still did the trick.
Really great explanation for the wire connections also. Thanks a ton!
I just did this on an old phone that's been in the drawer for ages and wouldn't charge, (my son broke his new phone and I'm not ready to buy another one) it worked brilliantly and the phone is now almost fully charged. Money saved - I love that. Thank you so much!
+Caroline Tyler Thanks I am glad to hear!
I just found out batteries can go into a deep sleep if stored to long. Thanks for sharing how to wake them up.
Important: This worked for my phone, which was in a deep sleep even though it turned out it was not empty. Phone would not turn on nor charge. We followed the exact procedure, found that the battery showed around 3V and figured, oh no, the problem must lie with the phone. But we continued anyway, just as described in the video. The phone turned on, charged a bit more and is now working again as before! Thank you!!!
I rediscovered an HTC phone I stopped using around 2016. Plugged it in for the first time in six years, and the screen would cycle from the dead battery icon, to charging, to shutting off. That's what brought me here.
But, after about 15-20 minutes plugged into a standard charger, the phone is now charging. The battery is obviously wrecked, because it reached 52% in about six minutes. I haven't tried turning it on just yet, and my gut tells me I won't make it to the lock screen.
But wish me luck.
A lot has changed since I tossed it in a box and forgot. The data I left on this phone meant nothing at the time, but it would be such a blessing if I could see it again today.
Wow! Thank you so much. I thought my battery was flat out dead. Your advice worked and my phone is charging once again. Thank you, thank you, thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to make and post this helpful video.
Thank you so much for this. My battery completely discharged today when I was a couple of hours from home and I put my phone on the charger for an hour when I got home - nope, wouldn't charge & phone wouldn't turn on & I even left my phone on charge for over an hour - nope, STILL not charging & again, phone wouldn't turn on. Did exactly as your video suggested and voila, my battery is now charging. I am so happy and I am very, very grateful that you posted this solution. AWESOME!!
I just did this to my husbands phone and it worked wonders! Thank you so much! It took a couple of reboots while charging to get the phone to fully function, then left it to charge to 100% it is now working perfectly and is holding a charge.
Almost 7 years later and this just helped me revive a discharged battery!
THIS ACTUALLY WORKED!!! Kept the wires on the battery for like 30s and then it started charging!!!
I found my old phone batteries, perfect for my new projects. Thanks to you I managed to save those that were dead! Thanks man! :)
Hi James, Just recovered the battery from my TwoNav Delta GPS (BL-5C). Many, many TKS for sharing, RGDS Bro.

Very nice.. although you may have the words: “minutes” & ... “seconds” mixed up bro lol.
Great work nonetheless
Works like a charm , thanks mate !
You are the best teacher out there. This trick works like magic, thank you for sharing. God bless you
2:24 are you hungry man...? lol
fariz ascariz lol I was!
thanks to you, i revive my dead / dead sleep battery. i used 18650 battery only for 5 minutes. however, when i reconnect the battery to my phone, it just charging at 0%. better than before i did it. the phone just blinking red charging. now i trying to repeat the same process but wait much longer. hope it works. good guide man..
Worked like a charm, thanks for the info, saved me money on a new battery.
Thank you so much man!!! I had forgot my phone in the car for a night and the battery had died, no life left and I tried this method and the battery came back to life!! :) I was about to head out to buy a new phone since mine is so old anyways, but now I can save up some more money before that thanks to this! Awesome!
...wut? How old is your phone? When the phone shows 0%, the battery should still be around 3.3-3.6v. If your phone is discharging the battery enough to trigger protection, then something is wrong or you're running custom firmware and your battery parameters need tweaking.
@@zp944 Yeah it was my old Samsung SII phone, really ancient.. xD But it had a problem with not holding up battery life after charge, I googled that it might have had something to do with usage of the flashlight function in it, overheating some part, but I have no idea myself really... But I've used this method with other devices that had "dead" batteries too. :)
@@LUNARIAproject I got my phone from 2017 to turn on just by leaving it on the charger. Took 15-20 mins, but it worked.
I can get a good 20-30 minutes of life in airplane mode before it powers off without warning
Great job James, thanks alot!
OMG!! It actually worked. Thanks a ton, I was in need of a spare phone and my note was just sitting for 3 years. This method revived it again. Amazing. Thanks again. Dude you're a God of electronics.
Worked like a charm... Thank you.
Thanks a lot mate! Works like a charm!!!!
excellent tutorial I have been wondering about this for some time thanks
This video was very useful! Thank you!
Thank you so much bro. I got my digital cam back to life after around 6 years...... life saver :)
That's awesome thanks for commenting!
@@jemmrich bro my battery is tablet pouch battery how to do with that
Worked like a charm. Thanks!
Just revived my old Galaxy S3 with this trick. Thank you so much!
Thanks man. Got my S4 battery back to charging state. Used a 5V wall wart, and stripped the wires. Held the wires to the phone for about 30 secs, then checked the voltage. It was about 2.8V. But battery failed to charge at this level. Held the wires again to battery, for about 1 min, and tested. Voltage was now 3.0. Battery then started to charge on charger. Waiting to see results after a few hours charging.
Awesome! Report back how it went!
Charged to 100%, and depleting like normal while using phone. Great.
Thanks for the video!
You should be EXTREMELY careful when doing this. If the battery starts to get warm at all, IMMEDIATELY pull those wires off! The proper charging voltage for most Li-Ion batteries will never be more than 4.2v, and exceeding this (5v from the USB cable) can cause the battery to thermal run-away (explode).
Usb is not exactly 5 volts with just the black and red wire when you add the data wires that is when they start to give 5 volts i did real world tests i usually get around 3.4 - 4 volts so it is fine
Your right in most situations but thats what you want to happen.
if your battery is not charging from the recommend volts. your going to have to try this. this is how you wake a dead battery. there is nothing to loose if the battery is already dead.
Does the USB have to be working
@@jakepaulers8717 Yes ...you are Dead Right on this.........You Have Nothing to Lose When You are DEAD !!! Not LOOSE ?!
Have you tried this before?
Works for me. Thank you for sharing this..
Brilliant! Would this approach work with a Lithium-ion battery for my Powakaddy golf trolley which seems defunct and wont take a charge? Many thanks Ian
thanks brother this idea has worked and you have saved my money for new battery
I have a dead battery lying around, haven't used it in years. I hope I'll be able to bring it back to life again. 😊✌️ Thanks dude.
Cool good luck! Report back on your result!
@@jemmrich yeah, sure! 👍✌️
Thank you. This worked quick for me 🙏🏾
I can't thank you enough dude. I fixed my iPad 1 that had a dead battery. I can't believe this scctualy works
Wow you got this to work on an iPad battery? Interesting, glad I was able to help!
Jake Taylor yeah I had to use a 12v charger that came with the iPad cause it requires a bit more power
Shocked my self a lil bit but thank youuu so much this worked
God Bless You man!! Thank you so much!
quick story: The USB port in my cellphone got overloaded while charging in a car. But I didnt know that at that point. So eventually the battery went out. I turned it on over and over again until it was dead (didnt know better). I bought a new battery - phone went on, no charging until that battery was dead too. Ok, so it had to be the usb port - I then bought a new port, build it in, put the battery in, still no charge. After research I tried to put one battery in the refrigerator for 12 hours. Back in the phone - still no charge. It was hopeless. Then I stumbled across this jump-start video and IT WORKED! Its charging again. I´m so happy! I essentially bought a phone back to life that had a busted usb port and a dead battery because of it, what a thriller \o/
That's awesome I'm glad it helped you!
You are amazing, THANK YOU!
I tried for 15sec and it didnt work, then I tried for 2min and exactly like your video the battery came back to life :D
That's awesome thanks for sharing your success!

Thanks it really work for me.
you can use also your old charger for this operation . simply cut the connector pin and get wire for use .
Thank you James👌
Thank you very much
Wiorked perfectly ....thanks for help
Is that Anker charger any good? I have a dead ZTE from a phone I bought at a yard sale and right now I have one of those oLight USB lithium ion chargers and a set of jumper leads connected to the battery and it is charging. I jumped mine with 3 volts as to not overload it.
I like anker but it seems they don't sell phone batteries any more. I still use it though even after all this time. I actually have 3 of them for my old phones I still use. Slowly converting to USB-c though.
@@jemmrich do they still have that charger because Amazon doesn't?
You are the best, thank you... subscribed!❤️
Thanks Man, It really helped!!
OMG It really worked!!
Thank you so much
Thank you very much! I recover an old S2 Plus battery :D
Fixed my battery with this instruction!
thank you for sharing this video, it was very helpful as I revived my battery on phone!
Great to hear, glad it was helpful!
Hi,
I have an old HP laptop battery. It was completely drained when I left it on the shelf for 3 years. I used it previously for 4, so it is 7 years. I checked the voltage it is (6 cell 18650, 2 each.) So 1 parallel cell is dead, but the other 2 are showing around 3.9V. I'm very surprised. I'm guessing they're in deep sleep mode.
Can these cells be recharged?
Even after all these years?
Thanks!
Works for me, Thank you for sharing
thanks man its work!!! u saved my money from new battery!! thanks a lot
Eric garden batteries
You are a simply legend
Woowww my old phone battery worked....thank you ..you earned 1 subscriber and liker
Jimmy
Hi! Does the USB cable need to be working as well?
100% working!!!!! Thanks!!!!👍👍👍👍
When you line up the red wire with the positive and the black wire with the negative on the battery, are your fingers making direct contact with the wires themselves? Is there no danger of electric shock here?
cool video man! thanks for sharing
Staggered this actually worked! Got an old uk 2004 SPV C500 booting up because of this!!
Thanks for commenting, glad it worked!
Thank you so much!
Thanks so so much mate 😍❤️😍
Hey I just want to ask...my another phone of year 2011 is Samsung GT's and this 2016 is is very fine, battery's fine but I forgot to charge it for almost 1 month and it is not opening even the battery bar when u connect the charger
Hey is it safe to use hand to change battery?.. My phone not switched on since 1year now.. My device is lava iris atom 2 and when I'm charging it show only lava logo and then battery picture and then it shut down black screen I tried to power on but it's not on please help me what I do?? I really appreciate :)
U ARE A GOD. I just saved 2 phones with this thank you so much!!!!!!!!!
Congrats that's awesome to hear!
@@jemmrich I think both of them have just died after I tried to turn them on...
@@Ilegator gah that's annoying but this happens. It's the battery not holding enough charge or is just completely dead. Maybe try charging it for a little longer.
@@jemmrich okay, it was only one of them that died. I think the other one wasn't charging properly because I wasn't using a Samsung charger.
The one that died was a Samsung Galaxy S2 which I thought was soo cool. I had charged the battery manually to 60% (with your method), but it was taking so many amps (2,5 or so).
Then, I turned it on and worked properly until it froze and turned off.
Now when I connect the battery it gets a bit hot on some area of the motherboard.
Do you have any idea what might be wrong with it?
Thanks for everything.
@@Ilegator batteries do get hot when they are going through cycles and it's good to keep an eye on them especially as they age. But I would always lean on the side the battery being an issue than the phone itself. It really depends on the state/age of the battery. This method is really just to get it up and running *temporarily*. I know for my original Samsung note the battery dies so fast and actually needs a jump again using this method which is a huge pain. I have seen very cheap and affordable replacement batteries online either through amazon but other battery-only specific companies so it might be worth looking into if you need to get the phone running again. I bought 2 batteries for $25 for my note 1. Sometimes the battery is just dead.
really helpful man thx .. its just like jump starting a car
Thank you so much for the video. My GoPro WiFi remote shows 100% but never switches on once disconnected from charger. But the battery is inside and cannot be removed ( i aint an expert ) . Please advise. Thanks
I tried this method for days now with my LG Ultimate 2 that sat in my drawer for a long time, and it won't charge regardless of what I do. I put this battery up to 3.90 volts and it won't work regardless of what I do. I have a universal charger like you do. I even went the extra mile and bought a wireless charging pad and receiver, with another battery. At least that responds to something. But it lights up as 0% and cuts off. Won't even charge it. Is there a specific voltage it needs to be in order to make it start charging? I basically used every option up and this tutorial was my last hope.
Totally works ...Thanks! I didn't have wire cutters so I used an X-Acto knife =)
thank you sir..it worked for my phone
this worked!!! thanks so much!! :)
Does it work for batteries for old Kindle models? I will check and give feedback.
Seriously, thank you
If you are worried about the 5V being too much, you can add a diode to form a 0.7V drop.
Would it also work with 3.7V battery? Or it's better to use the other pair of wires from the USB cable? (3.3V)
my android is charging but no power is getting into the battery hope this will help
Thanks man!!!!!!!! I dont need to buy new battery thank you so much!!!!
thankyou so much sir it worked :) :) :) Thanks alot my prayers and best wishes with you
Can you do this to a battery tat isn't in deep sleep, but just doesn't hold a charge well?
Thanks sir!! It appears to have worked!!!!!
Thank dude.. it really work for my camera battery it start working... thank you so much.....
Will definitely try
Wow! You are great.its works.thanks a lots.
I used a 5.2 V to revive a 7.2 V lion battery. I charged with the wires just 30 seconds and it worked!
would that work with psp battery?
and does it require certain charger?
THANK YOU! SO SO MUCH! GOD BLESS TYOU!
totaly worked i love u man
Why can't the charger charge it when inserted into it? Wouldn't the charger be the same as using two wires?
Noice. But as you've done it, did you feel any shock from the 5v passing through the wires or is it just nothing? Because im going to do this to revive my battery
Nope no shock
@@jemmrich oof Thank you!
Does it work on LI-80B Camera Battery?
