Usually even if my post office skips a scan, it gets scanned along the line at a regional facility or something.
I’m returning to reselling after a break and there’s no way I’d have next day shipping. Most of the time I ship next day but with MS & ADHD the grace 3 day shipping provides is necessary
In our business shipping is number one so new employee is trained to pull products and ship them out! We want no negative comments or returns. After shipping is stocking shelves, tracking inventory she needs to be able to find it in a flash to ship it out. This is where the money is made, plus it takes stress off you know your weakness, so hire someone. You know your strengths work there! And your rating will grow, and you will feel much better. You’re not great at this! You want to turn it off, a good employee can run it while you’re away and the money she makes or saves you will pay for her wages.
I would agree. Shipping every day should be the first thing completed. Make a schedule of your day Dave. Make a list on your garage wall. I think it would help you a lot. You got this! Lol

Sales have been doing pretty good for me, especially media. I have been selling DVDs and blu-rays almost every other day especially box sets. When I first started, I had two-day shipping but currently do one day shipping without any issues. My Mercari is on 3-day shipping.
I mentioned when you first asked and stick to the theory of commission to Mikey. It promotes both quality and efficiency.

Don't turn your store off, just extend your shipping dates, that way it gives you more time to ship it and not get dinged, and it won't slow your momentum down because your store's not closed, I like your ADHD, makes me feel normal
Yes…what she said. When you schedule your time away you have the option to continue letting people purchase items. It just lets the purchaser know that it may not ship until 3 days after your return date.
I had my first sales for the new year starting on the 14th of the month! It was slow but has been picking up!
Another suggestion for doing eBay listings is to make some listing templates. (They have apparently changed how that is done, but if you type "selling templates" in help, eBay tells you how to do it.) Then use that template to list the rest of your comics, just changing the pertinent parts like title, year, etc. You sell a lot of plush so you could do a plush template. The lighthouses would have been another. You would need to change condition description to allow for different defects. You could also do sell similar off one item if you're listing a few of the same items instead of making a template.
@@WellnessWizdom There is more to a listing than just the description. There are item specifics, shipping costs, condition, photos, etc.
16:13 I was told that there is a way to do one day shipping but stretch it out by saying if they order after say 12:00 noon it’s next day, or something like that. Hubby dont do it either as we, like you, don’t want the STRESS!

Resellers who feel superior because they have an extra badge next to their name need to get a life. It is in no way a reflection of your ability and success as a reseller.

Your main focus is clearly content and this makes up for slow sales. When I tried growing my YT channel my sales suffered big time, that is why I always focus on reselling first and sprinkle in the content when I have time, oh yeah I don't have time. lol. Don't stress, just document and keep it going.
You never leave usps with out a receipt or your shipping manifest sheet scanned recieved, Rule #1 with any shipping service. And it doesnt matter what the workers say or want, you are the customer. If they hassle you talk to that office's Post Master, if you dontbget what you want, Email the next one up the ladder.
He is not there when they are scanned. He puts them in a huge cart.
Before I lost my leg I was running the ebay store for a relatively large business and was making $10 an hour, had it been $20 I likely would have gone back there instead of out on my own.
@@MainlineFlippers This was also a set my own schedule part time job that was before the pandemic came along and seriously boosted low end wages. I think the same place now starts the lowest employees at $15 now.

I do 2-day shipping because I also don’t want that pressure. However, I actually ship most things same day or next day, so my customers get it faster than expected. So I have gotten great feedback for fast shipping. To stop cancelling orders, offer buyers another option, or do they prefer to cancel? That way you are trying to satisfy them, and if they chose to cancel you can say buyer requested to cancel.
Great videos man, I always enjoy the content. Unsolicited advice, you need someone to do your shipping, not your listings. Late shipping will kill your business far quicker than slow listing... Nice numbers for the year, congrats!
The post office does mess up on scanning the packages. Make a complaint on the USPS website and give the tracking #. The post office can search it and most times can claim and show that the package was really delivered.

I’m top rated plus seller and I take off Tuesday and Thursday shipping. And I have done that for years. And it still works for me. I only ship Monday Wednesday and Friday

I think Mercari can be very confusing. I ship my items from my email notifications. To me it’s to hard to navigate Mercari’s site.
Dave, I just looked at the three listings you put on eBay on 1/15. Why is the postage cost different on two listings and why is one an auction? Is it because you did a sell similar from someone else's listing? If you do that, I hope you're checking to see if the selling format and shipping cost is what you want.

My son does one day shipping but he sells Basketball cards and he works from home. I sell and mine is four day only because of my husband’s health and his appointment. No one complains about it. So I think whatever works for you.
You can do one day shipping and set your cut off time. We do same day shipping, but have our cut off at 8am CST, which relives a lot of that pressure and keeps us with our Top Rated Plus rating which you do get a small discount on final value fees (1% I think).
i do same day, best for customer, but i have cutoff at 7am anything after that technically can go out next day.
Unfortunately negative comments can mess with a person for sure. Try not to pay too much attention though. The comments that really matter are those that are uplifting and constructive in a kind and respectful way. Those of us that have been with you for a while, that know you a bit, and actually appreciate your content wouldn't talk to you like that. We know you love your family and didn't mean anything by what you said about your nephew. Thanks for putting out content even when you are so busy!
My local post office is horrible at scanning in my Mercari packages. Especially lately with the holidays. But I’ve not had a single “lost” order that didn’t update when it actually delivered! And I got paid after they rated.
Like 95% of the time I can do one day shipping but I have my account set to two day handling. Just in case I can't get an order out the next day, I'm covered.

Okay so I too do 1 day shipping, I am in the Boonedocks of Extreme North central Pa. I honestly drive 12 miles to my local post office if needed! I guess you have to decide what’s important to you as a seller! I know I appreciate every sale and yes I too am a top rated seller! Maybe improvise a little Dave, maybe get those sales ready and have your helper drop off at the Post office?! Just a suggestion! Btw MERCARI has ALWAYS STATED the buyer can get a refund until you as a seller Mail that order. Fair, maybe not but has been what they have stated since Day 1. Like others here I love and adore the family, videos etc. so just giving advice from a little seller compared to you!!

I used to work for a small business that did more than half of their business on ebay and etsy. The owner did all the listings because it never made sense financially for her to have someone else do it. She had a couple of us stock inventory and do shipping for her.
Blockity, block, block, block. Some people will be harshly negative no matter what you do. Please try not to pay attention to them. They could have expressed themselves without negativity and name calling if they wanted. Block them. The important people (like Mikey!) know all the positive truths about who you really are.
Buyer can cancel an order anytime on Mercari. Even if it’s on its way and scanned. I had soooo many issues with that site.
I fell below standard because I have 14 canceled orders. In reality 7 of the 14 were customer did not receive their items. 6 of them where on one order which was local pick-up and I was unable to connect the customer so I gave them a refund. I notified eBay and infromed them of the error which they said they could not do anything about the issue. Yet they are going to put restrictions on my account because of my low performance.

I do one-day shipping. I schedule a pick-up, and my mail carrier scans all packages when she picks them up. She gets a commission for scheduled pick-up and said those small cents add up. We have a good relationship and work great.
One-day handling (next-business-day) shipping is pretty good for me. If the buyer pays before midnight, I ship the next day. So, if they pay on Monday at 11:59pm, I ship on Tuesday morning. If they pay after midnight, I ship on Wednesday.
What I want to know is if Mercari offers the scan form. I couldn't find it and it'd be useful if I could print the form.

I have Top Rated Plus and the one day shipping handling time really isnt that bad because it only counts for business days (Monday- Friday) you are able to use the cut-off time to your advantage to drag it out to basically be 2 day handling time. As a full-time seller I feel I pay eBay enough money between my store fees and all the other fees that I try to take advantage of any little break they will give me so I do it for the 10% off the final value fees which doesn't sounds like a lot but it adds up throughout the year! Maybe try it out and see how it goes for a month or so and if it doesn't work out you can always go back.
How in the world do you ship an item that sells minutes before the Post Office closes? Do you live next door to a UPS office? I sure don't. My P.O. is like most, with an hour shut down in middle of day, and closes at 5. I travel a lot and many Offices close early on Wed. and close at 4 or 4:30. How do you ship the same day? I just don't understand it. 10% of the fees just doesn't seem like enough to forego thrifting, or eating out or grocery shopping or watching sporting events, to be available to ship on time. How do you do it? Are you a one person shop? How much did you earn in 2023 with this status? I ship within one day or selling, but, not the same day. I could not imagine that. You ake it sound like you take 48 hours to ship, and still maintain the discount??
One day shipping means 24 hours… not same day.

Sales are ok, selling more on Mercari right now. When I ship an item thru Mercari, I go into the app and tell them it’s shipped.

As a previous business owner(2) for 30 years, I completely understood your stance on trying to verify Mikey's place in your business. To many dang snowflakes in the world today.
You’re paying Mikey “family” wages! People need to understand that. If you start someone out at $10 an hour, you are PAYING THEM TO TRAIN them on something they can use the rest of their life!! Give an increase per hour as they learn each thing, listing, shipping, ect ect. But again… Mikey is family and nobody wants to take advantage of family. Well, MOST FAMILIES DONT! 😂 I unfortunately didn’t come from a family like that. I admire you for not being like that!!!!!
I just don't understand why some viewers watch a reseller that drives them nuts and triggers them to be rude and critical of a reseller trying his best. I just don't get it. If you don't like a reseller and obviously don't respect them, don't watch, unless that is your perverse pleasure.
I really really believe people are just getting more hip to finding the item themselves for just as cheap as the people who source them. A lot of this stuff is out in the wild just waiting to be found resellers have more stuff that just doesn't sell than what actually sells and more money gets tied up in inventory than what is in ones bank account. Reselling nowadays is a lot harder with all these platforms emerging and everyone wanting to be some sort of a reseller, most of it is just reseller to reseller now, it's crazy.
I personally wouldn't talk about bad comments especially as a UA-camr.. it just shows you care too much about the comments and viewers are just going to do it more
It may help you if you make a list of things you need to do that day. Put it on a sticky note and keep on computer or whatever works. I find it helpful. Can even star the priority items or put in priority order.

Mercari organizes the sold items by the date it was posted. It is extremely annoying but I hope this helps.
I do one day shipping. Just today with the weekend and the holiday, I’ve had 2 messages about when the item will be shipped. Next business day shipping really impresses the buyer. Most of my feedback is about how quickly they received the item. You are now running a real full-time business so you should work your vacations around your business not the other way around. Now you have someone you can train to come in and ship for you too! Level up!
It is very hard to do one day shipping as a UA-cam seller as you want to record the sales and you usually need at least 2 days worth to have something to record in the first place.

I have 3 day handling listed. Sell on tuesday and it will ship either wed or thursday. I have 3 day handling time listed, which seems to be pretty normal among sellers with youtube channels. Nothing can ever truly ship same day because my wife takes the packages with her when she leaves every morning. The only complaints I ever get about shipping times are almost always someone who orders something on friday when monday is a holiday.
I'm top rated plus and a single.mom with 40 hour work weeks. Guess it's my I never want to be broke or struggle that keeps me motivated

Didn't you do most if not all of your listings when you were doing eBay part time? Why don't you try to at least do a set number of listings yourself every day (even if just five or ten)? It would probably boost traffic to your store and maybe sales too. A question regarding your employee--are you putting the prices on the listings he drafts for you? Just curious.
I have 1 day shipping and I’m top rated plus, but I don’t have the volume of sales you have, I’m sure when I do grow and have more sales I would be so stressed out to continue 1 day shipping. I would like to think my top rated plus “title” is because I sell good products, I package it with care, clothes are steamed clean, hard goods are clean. I would rather have more sales then a titles

Top Rated Plus is to risky in my opinion you do get lower fees but I still don't think its worth the hassle
Dave, I don't know what the 'D' word is, but you didn't deserve that. There are a few suggestions on here about having Mikey do the shipping. That is straightforward and not subjective to cost. Whereas listing is very subjective. You are the expert on pricing; you know what you paid and are very fast at looking up comps.

Why do people leave comments like "don't listen to you, you're not top rated". Do they listen to you just to catch you saying something wrong, that's just weird. They don't have to watch or listen to you. You show reality being a reseller, I don't know how you do all that you are doing.

Whenever you hire an employee/contractor you're gonna loose money for the first month or so. That's just how it goes util they get trained and learn your systems. Don't worry about the comments tho, keyboard warriors look for any & every opportunity to hate 💯
My website has been ok, but I also sell on a few third-party marketplaces which have been slow. I believe people are looking for the best price now. I am happy considering how bad the economy is overall right now. I believe it will pick up some soon with people getting tax refunds back and then I expect a huge drop for summer. I pray I am wrong but, I guess we will see.

Sadly Dave you have to adjust from a part time seller to a full time seller and that transition can be difficult. Learn from your mistakes and most important don't let it consume who you are!
Dave funny you made this video cause I had watched the video, read the comments like I always do and thought I must of missed something you said. I rewatched and thought, that's not at all the point Dave was making about hiring his employee and the comments were misdirected. I think it was your comment on not being cost effective and you never finished your thought. I started watching your channel cause you aren't perfect and you are willing to show us while you are learning. Like you said you are going through the process of becoming a successful seller and we get to watch. Unfortunately that comes with judgement and you are great at weeding through the criticism and taking what you like and leaving the rest. Forward march!❤

Funny how differently people perceive things. I didn’t get any hint of what people are complaining about you and Mikey comments. I did get that you might have some concerns regarding listing and determine price to list based on comps. I would have a hesitation with that, personally.
