Metallica's prime as a live band simply.. james prime was at 1998-2001 lars was still good jason is a better live player than rob, and burton only played 4 albums.. simply metallica at their prime..

Malik Alzaabi Yeah i also love james 1998, 1999 and early 2000 voice but after that his voice got weak again. And i think it's also more like this: 1989 to 1993 are james best screaming/raspy vocals. And 1998 to 1999 are james best clean vocals with a better technique, he still had his old voice in those years but he didn't use it that much anymore. My favorite vocal years by james are 1989, 1991(1992), 1996 and 1999. Yes it's not one vocal year but james was at his best in the 90s and i can't really choose. But of course! it's also about opinions but mostly if you ask a metallica fan or just a metalhead "what is the best vocal year by james?" or "when was james at his best?" They mostly answer with 1991, 1992 and 1993 (black album vocals) Tbh his voice here kinda sucks actually but i still like it you know. I like his voice here better than his voice now
