A trip back in time before the internet, iPhones and rubbish social media destroyed our simple lives. Please God send me back to these much happier days
I have to laugh, the Mavis's went to my high school. Even after they left, the librarian there (a nice old guy) would put posters up for their gigs on the notice board just outside the library!
I had the biggest crush on Matt when I was in high school back in the 90’s…this song and this band gives me warm, fuzzy, nostalgic feelings…The Mavis’s and Recovery ❤❤❤❤. All of us teenagers of the 90’s (full of angst) were so lucky…brilliant music…no censorship…no toxic social media…good times ❤️❤️❤️
One of my Dad's favourite songs ever and he was 40 when it was released. Me, I was only 3. Listened to it after months again and still one of the best songs ever to be recorded and I still love it so much
That was probably a little unfair, this song is ok. As far as being derivative goes, the part that severely irritates me personally is the ELO style elements of the production. Calling pop music derivative is actually rather trite and meaningless because it all is. That accusation could be leveled at literally any pop artist or song.
My dad must've heard this on the radio in his ute, because when he was home later that day, he couldn't stop whistling the tune to it and it drove my stepmum nuts. I asked him what the name of the song and band was, then I searched this up on UA-cam not very long after and now I like the song Thanks, Dad. Love ya
Heard this in my local supermarket today it was halfway through the song and frantically thinking what's the name of this fucking group i just remembered it before the song finished. Haven't heard this in 20 years or so such a fucking fantastic song and i did have a tear by the end of it. That's why im here
Love this song, it washes me away to a time where life, love, emotion was still new and powerful. This band gave my mate and me free tickets to see them open for Bush when they were supporting Bush for their Melbourne (or Aussie) leg. I never met them, my mate knew them somehow and I lucked out as a massive Bush fan back then. I as in a bad place back then and I was so lucky that a thousand kind/selfless acts came my way some by chance and some intentionally by friends. All together they saved my life, and sadly I never got to thank many of those people. That was one of a few trips around Australia mates financed to help me. Reflecting now, i can't believe how lucky I was to always have amazing people around me. People far better than I deserved.
Why not! Great that people helped you. I don't know how you can say that anyone deserves anything really, circumstances are such powerful currents in people's lives
@Dion Campbell Thx for the reply! I think I agree that no one "deserves anything. I changed way I framed my life after I turned 30. From feeling sad that I was one of the unluckiest 10% of Aussies TO how lucky I am to have been born in Australia and in current time. Healthcare, safe living, clean water, healthy food, opportunity etc. Now I always count my blessings most when sh!t goes wrong
Wow a lot of people read my ranting comment. Cheers, I added I was just writing to myself lol. UA-cam's comments have gotten so bad - Full of spam - Hard to navigate to interesting comments - Not used anywhere near as much anymore. So 44 up-votes on a long diatribe is like getting 300 up-votes back 10yrs ago
MrbrightsideWill this song and Lever are my absolute favourites (still to this day) I still have this debt album by the Mavis’s and I hope when my time comes (I have terminal appendix cancer) that someone in my family keeps my CDs
I love it at 3:30 when they're doing the Mama Mia bit and he starts to crackup. He's probably thinking "I can't believe the director has got us doing that Abba thing!"
Finally! - After looking for this song for some 20 years, I found it (I discovered their old cd laying around my house) - I'm 36 now, but even when I hummed this tune, or had a crack the lyrics, no one knew what I was talking about. This was a real gem when it came out and I was a kid - I really liked it! Great to hear it again... Another great, relativly unknown aussie band, from back in the day aussies would produce some great music.
I always remembered this song as an 8 year old cos I would sing the chorus to myself & their coloured contacts in this video. Now I'm friggin 31 & it makes me feel old haha.
What a fantastic pop song, one that gets you feeling okay about yourself! The Mavis's remind me a little bit of The Eurogliders, both great combinations of men & women in the band & they genuinely looked like they were having fun making great music!
Becky had a custom t-shirt store on Chapel Street, which I used to frequent to get shirts for my own gigs. I enjoyed our chats, bought an awesome Ozzy tee and got to know Becky and the Bullets from there.
I remember this song back in the day I really liked it , I was having a coffee with a mate in St.Kilda one night and saw the lead singing walking up a street .
Great story , Yeah I couldn't agree with you more , the 90's was such a great era for music so many different bands and amazing songs that I feel will never hear again . This group was awesome .
Love this song - have for many a year, but never knew the group or the title until I googled "it'"s driving me crazy" the other day lol The song has had a LOT of airplay on the radio here in Bunbury WA over recent weeks - also great that Beki is on here replying to some of the comments :)
love this song , my cousin has a hair salon that specializes in alterative hair styles like punk and she did their hair , just a bit of a brag on her behalf
OMG OMG i cant thank you enough, ive literally been looking for this for years, ive had some of the video and sound in my head for years and years no exaggeration its felt like forever!! i cant believe ive found this THANK YOU SO MUCH
Gee..memories..saw these guys at Sydney Myer Music Bowl... how i long for those days again!!! No social distancing...no masks...just smiles...drinks...and great sunny days!! 🤗
I feel very fortunate to have grown up in that time - was a great time in itself for music but we also had the best of the 70s and 80s to enjoy at our fingertips with the advent of the internet as a delivery mechanism. The future is looking pretty bleak at the moment - rise of the hard right all over the world, little girls getting blown up at arianna grande concerts, no hope of owning a home, trump and kim shaking their dicks at each other, automation about to eat up all the jobs and the embargo on autonomous robot soldiers is going to expire in
I was in Melbourne when this song was popular. I was driving my first (used) car with some friends and enjoying this song very much while driving around even with a lousy piece of hifi. This really brings back memories... One of the sweet ones. Many thanks for sharing this Matthew Knight! :-)

That is so nice 😊
That is fanTAStic!!!!!!!!!!! I had a crush on Matt when I was fifteen, saw them at the Kylie concert, wow, it was sensational!!!

LOVE this song❤
Theres so much in it👏

💕🙏✨🎶
I'm 66 and don't mind them myself . My daughter used to go and watch them back in the recovery days . That's how I found out about them 🙂
Such a great Aussie track, always makes me feel! Can’t believe it never became an international smash hit!
One of Australias greatest ever songs. A classic!
Get a grip, it is a winning piece of very slight, extremely derivative and disposable crap.
why is it derivative crap? what are they copying??
who are they imitating??
why is it disposable crap?
+Martin Cee me thinks James R is an imbecile
he must be too dumb to
give reasons why it crap

You can thank all those people by helping others in similar situations. It’s how abundance spreads throughout the universe.
