  • Underrated sequel/remake of Village of the Damned didn’t get much attention in 1963, but it’s a gripping and well-made movie with plenty to say politically and allegorically. One of the better British films of a fertile period.

Portraying the children with empathy makes the film a cut above the original.

Superior to VILLAGE OF THE DAMNED as it portrays what might happen if the next evolutionary step of man were to appear. It echoes themes found in SLAN and other works, and very neatly provides a platform for future television shows such as THE TOMORROW PEOPLE (which could have borrowed more from this movie).
I was impressed not only with the movie itself, but with the titles for it - modern and unobtrusive in placement. As if they hired a real designer to place the text over the images.

For some reason..as a kid, I was more impressed with the UK versions of movies....The Creeping Unknown...X the unknown.the Brood!!This movie was one of those gems. It showed a more international bent of the children, which I enjoyed. I have it in my collection and I dust it off every once in a while to view...and I'm never disappointed. The Brits are just more thoughtful in their creepiness I guess. The black and white element adds to the effect...check it out, if you come across a copy!!!

Going from 'Village of the Damned' to 'Children of the Damned' is a bit like going from Twilight Zone episode 'To Serve Man' and Twilight Zone episode 'The Gift'. If you've seen all four you'll get it.

The Gift was about an Alien who was Peaceful, But gets killed by Fearful and Distrusting Earth People.

I like Joe's and Mick Garris' video the best, as they seem to give the most actual behind the scenes info, whereas many others just give their memories or opinions of the films they're talking about.
