You guys need to R&D this platform heavy! No one else is exploring this platform and i truthfully believe it can be a competitor with evos,subies,hondas due to the 4 cyl mutuality. They are light than its big brother chassis and engine wise and it does come AWD so...I honestly think with the right parts and tuning you can push impressive numbers. At the end of the day it is just a smaller B58...

The DP, IntakeManifold, IM450 turbo, and the Port Injection Kit. I’m just having issues since my vehicle is newer with a lock on the DME. ECU-Tek cannot tune my car. Some platforms don’t support b48’s and misinformation upon misinformation. I have literally been going in circles for about 6 months with my parts just gathering dust (Except for the DP, the sound was worth the little CEL light on the dash LOL.) The car does bog down a little at various speeds tho.

Musa and I were actually just talking about this--I feel that in the near future, because of so much regulation/soulless-ness (EVERYTHING will be made by robots, EVERYTHING will need to abide by the same rules, EVERYTHING will be so monitored that modifications of any kind will be next to impossible, EVERYTHING will be made illegal... etc etc etc), the nostalgia wave is what's coming. People are going to crave a more raw, more organic, more connected, less refined feel to their cars, and the only way to do that will be to go back in time with what you buy... I'll definitely see if Musa can comment on this too to see if he can offer any workaround suggestions... 🙂
i think it's truly amazing you got that amount power out of the B46! However as long time BMW fanatic I'd never move away from the 6 cylinder power plant this is what sets BMW's apart from the rest, it's not only about speed and horse power the smooth acceleration and sound is what does it for me..
For me its about that initial throttle tip in that you can only get from a 6 cylinder. I'm sure the hybrid assist fills that gap on the 330e but didn't get a chance to try that out.

ive began collecting all my parts for the forged im500 build man, your videos have been the reason ive decided to do it, taking my b48A to a forged b48B (compression drop to 330i) rods, bearings pistons etc, will be alot of fun thanks to you :D
İn my country because of the excessive taxes BMW offers b48 1.6 liter 170hp 250 nm torque. İt's power increases after stage one soft mod 250 hp 350 nm torque. Ur doing outstanding job after modding 4 cylinder Bmw which figures m4 performance. Superb .

I'll see if Musa and I can talk on-channel about it more, but we literally just spoke about how 2020 is basically the end of the line for the "ease" factor in making a stock BMW fun. Locked ECUs (no more tuning)/insane emissions requirements (forced features like auto start-stop=you'll never be able to hear your engine idle anymore), etc... It's all, unfortunately, headed in that direction... Keeping that gem will be one of the best possible decisions you can make! 👍🏻😁

Hey Musa! I’ve been following your channel a while. I am also a Canadian and made my way into the US (Pennsylvania) . I was always a e36, e34 and e46 owner , both 4 and 6 cyl , and when it came time to buy a car, I ordered a 2024 230i, m sport and dynamic handling. Now I’ve done a jb4, will go for a catless downpipe, intake, and custom tune. I wish the car had more power up top and maybe I wish for a m240i but I think you shouldn’t just abandon the b48.. you should continue refining it. It’s a unique engine that has a place for tuners.. don’t just replace it with a b58. Cheers and thanks for your work
I have an almost identical spec 330 I just got used with 20k miles. Looking to upgrade it but going to stay with 93 pump gas since that’s all I have access too. Would love to see a lot more content with the car and how you like the m sport brakes and LSD and stock car itself and then content and pricing on the mods you did. Love to see some recognition for this car. These go for 30k with low miles and have all the technology and looks and comfort and super capable b48!!
Yeah crazy bang for your buck if you want modern features on the cheap. M Sport brakes are pretty good, they can handle the 500 HP pretty adequately. LSD was a bit of a must given the torque this thing makes, I also heard the axles are stronger when you get the LSD. IPOS blew their stock axles on similar power with the sock diff and axles, they have a 2021 Supra 2.0L.
@@VehicularDIY Actually you already should have put bigger brakes on, with the 2l engine. Having over 400hp with the stock 330i brakes is a little scatchy. I guess the 374mm M Sport brakes should fit without a problem. And they are not crazy expensive. (At least not in Germany 😁)
This is gonna be so good. I got the MSport 2018 330ix and my build is basically what you taught on this channel. I laughed when you brought out the B58 cuz my motto was if I do blow my b48 Ima put in a 58 haha
As a g20 330 owner I’ve been following this from the beginning waiting for an update I’m glad to see it’s taking it and I’m gonna go down this path myself but on the stock turbo I’m also ripping mounts every oil change pretty much I’ve tested BFI ones and they are way to harsh I’m gonna try out a set of inserts on the next set of mounts to see if it helps
@@VehicularDIY You are correct they fit perfectly I gave the inserts a try you can’t take take the 30i mounts apart without breaking the seal so I bought a set of M340i mounts after seeing this comment and the inserts fit them It’s a two-piece insert with only one piece in. There’s almost no vibration and it actually daily useable with both parts in its bad only at idle w a/c but still way better than BFI mounts now all that’s left is to see how long it lasts as this is the 6th set of mounts in 38k
I had to replace my motor mounts as well at 40k miles. Now I have a minor seep on vcg and leaking front main seal- getting them both replaced tomorrow then I go in with port injection
Apparently, these engine mounts are prone to failure even on stock engines/tunes. They give out around the 40k mile mark (unsurprisingly around the time that most people's warranties are up lol) and even after replacement, they don't stand up well to the b48 4-cyl. Have already gone through a set and I am just barely crossing the 50k mark. Someone gave a recommendation to use aluminum inserts on the eBay engine mounts. I believe they're from Vargas Turbo Technology and are a bit pricey, but for 400-500+ whp goals, I would give this a consideration. Already ordered mine and don't want to ever really worry about these mounts giving out anytime soon.

You can solve the issues with comfort mode in the tuning. That turbo should be easy to get stock like driveability from. But I suppose it doesn't matter any more!
@@VehicularDIY oh my B 58 I did the transmission tune after watching Kearns video and I swear to you it’s night and day with comfort mode mode now is awesome. Hell I don’t even need to go to sport mode most times, but if you do go past a certain percentage, it all automatically goes into sport mode now.
The power delivery I don't like with the 330i . I prefer being able to cruise around 2K rpm and having the instant, linear, and smooth, response. WIth the 330i B48 I just haven't been able to get that, no matter what configuration I've tried. My car will power/torque on a dyno but is really disappointing daily driving - unless you are revving beyond 3k, you are not going anywhere.. I remember my Audi A4 had only around 285whp and was a blast in daily driving, even when you weren't pushing the car hard - much smoother and quicker off the line, and just slightly tipping in the throttle, you feel instant power - for example a pull from 1800 to 2200 rpm. In contrast, the 330i has to spike to 3K if you want to get anywhere quick. I don't know if this has something to do with the low 'load' the car is sensing or perhaps low manifold pressure (pre-boost) which makes my car less responsive. Sport+ is to 'heavy' feeling - always feels like you are always in a low gear. In my car (stage 2), the closest I can get to having relaxed, low end, response , comes with using a throttle booster with a very aggressive setting and setting Comfort+ mode. I really wish there was a solution to this.

Because they are transverse how much of this can transfer to b48Es? I saw ur comment about the dct in m135i being weaker, but technically u could use some of these mods for a 2020+ b48e?

I see you have an older DME as well. Would this work? I have a G23 420i (end 2023) already with the new dashboard in it. If an old DME would work (pre 06/2020) i would defo try it.

Is it a 4 cylinder? Because that sounds like the B38 3 cylinder at only 1.6L displacement.

Nice update! Ill be following your build on my 230i xDrive eventually, but all i want is 380-400hp and reliability.
You should be able to get that on just the turbo upgrade and down pipe on pump gas.

You can tune the transmission as well. There are a few garages that do it.

You can solve the issues with comfort mode in the tuning. That turbo should be easy to get stock like driveability from. But I suppose it doesn't matter any more!

@@VehicularDIY oh my B 58 I did the transmission tune after watching Kearns video and I swear to you it’s night and day with comfort mode mode now is awesome. Hell I don’t even need to go to sport mode most times, but if you do go past a certain percentage, it all automatically goes into sport mode now.

Have you tuned the car yet? Maybe what it needs is a tune to help dial in the power with the upgraded turbo ?
The power delivery I don't like with the 330i . I prefer being able to cruise around 2K rpm and having the instant, linear, and smooth, response. WIth the 330i B48 I just haven't been able to get that, no matter what configuration I've tried. My car will power/torque on a dyno but is really disappointing daily driving - unless you are revving beyond 3k, you are not going anywhere.. I remember my Audi A4 had only around 285whp and was a blast in daily driving, even when you weren't pushing the car hard - much smoother and quicker off the line, and just slightly tipping in the throttle, you feel instant power - for example a pull from 1800 to 2200 rpm. In contrast, the 330i has to spike to 3K if you want to get anywhere quick. I don't know if this has something to do with the low 'load' the car is sensing or perhaps low manifold pressure (pre-boost) which makes my car less responsive. Sport+ is to 'heavy' feeling - always feels like you are always in a low gear. In my car (stage 2), the closest I can get to having relaxed, low end, response , comes with using a throttle booster with a very aggressive setting and setting Comfort+ mode. I really wish there was a solution to this.
BMW has nowadays the best and robust 4 cylinder engine worldwide.

I wouldn’t even blame the additional power, the motor mounts have been a known weak point for a while.
Look into sprint booster to help your throttle issues.. help me big time

Yeah the xDrive cars are pretty stout but can't say with certainty that the differentials would like it.

Because they are transverse how much of this can transfer to b48Es? I saw ur comment about the dct in m135i being weaker, but technically u could use some of these mods for a 2020+ b48e?

Yeah up until 650 WTQ, I might get the new spool stage 2 upgrade if we push the torque high enough.

I see you have an older DME as well. Would this work? I have a G23 420i (end 2023) already with the new dashboard in it. If an old DME would work (pre 06/2020) i would defo try it.
