What is so offensive in the title? It doesn't say the airline is terrible but it builds up to the explanation of why some people might be afraid or distrustful towards it and recommend you don't fly with it. And the video gives you the reason, and explains in the end that the standards have been improved.

Captain speak to Co pilot Flap 15°, was the Co pilot Failuring to Flap 5° Because, Flaps Blocked and Speed not responding, 240 knots=126knots. Speed wrong at GPWS Sound is realizing. What is blocked/Wrong speed.
It's a well known fact that Indonesian air safety has left a lot to be desired for years. In case you don't know - the LION AIR crash a few weeks ago is also based in Indonesia. Look what happened there. People are blaming Boeing but it's also well known that the aircraft was still flown with passengers in the knowledge the aircraft had a problem and should have been grounded until it was fixed. Be honest here..... there's 1st world aircraft maintenance and then there's 3rd world aircraft maintenance. It's not the fault of the country or the people. It's either penny pinching within the airline/company on maintenance and crew/pilot training or corrupt governments filching off the cash. Nearly all airlines operating today (if not possibly all of them) have had at least one disaster. It comes down to whether lessons are learnt or not and whether operating practises are improved. I personally would never set foot on certain airlines aircraft out of choice but none of them are the major, more well known ones. People form their own opinions of what's good and safe or not and in this case I'd agree entirely. You're entitled to your precocious opinion but don't attack others for having their own.
Whoever feels offended needs to get their priorities straight. 21 people died in this flight due to pilot error and poor safety culture. They have a right to be remembered.
They ARE remembered, because Garuda made a 5-year overhaul plan that was pushed even further by the EU after the accident. This crash was an eye opener

It was just an error, any ways if they did turn around they still might have not made it because they might have stalled if so. Im pretty sure that was the more safer way. I think many of these "pilot error" crashes have a lot to do with a false sense of security from flying for years without any incidences. They think "I've been doing this for so long and nothing's happened--I know what I'm doing."
Or plain ego. Some older people don't like being told by the younger... Good thing that these kinds of pilot got prison punishment here. Could be a lesson for other arrogant/ignorant pilots.

As far as I'm concerned, some foreigners have already put a bad stereotype on Indonesian airlines even before this video came out. Rather than getting offended or butthurt so easily, why don't we take the title as an encouragement for us to keep improving ourselves?

These crashes, as interesting as they are, are quite sad. They make you realise how selfish and negligent some pilots can be. Like I say, it's horrible, but as a pilot I aim to learn from these mistakes. I don't want these situations occurring to me in my future aviation career. Rest in peace to those involved.
Or the plane from Boeing itself. 737-400 in 2007 was due to navigational system error

In this flight, there were several professors and lecturers from my university. Three of them died because they’re too old to evacuate immediately. Until now, almost all professors and lecturers, especially from my faculty kinda avoid this airline as much as they can because of the traumatic event.
Oh, a son from another lecturer also died in this accident.
Even worse, it was caused by pilot itself. They could make thing look better
My friend was inside the plane! He lived in Jakarta and he was a student in one of famous university in Jogja UGM. After the third impact, my friend forced himself to took off the belt and opened the emergency door and he jumped off the plane during an explosion. He saw there was a lot of people inside burned alive as they didn't do anything and just sat until the plane was burned.

I remember this tragedy, I used to live in yogyakarta, there were many fire truck and ambulance the morning I went to my campus, and then i saw the news about the crash. The crash also burned my delivery packet brought within this plane cargo. And I would say as a person who used to often fly from and to yogyakarta, the adi sucipto airport runaway is indeed terrible, it is so short in length, everytime i landed there, the plane always hit a really hard brake. Not to mention the location is near train railing and high populated residence. The first time I landed in adi sucipto I was freaked out because i thought the plane fly so low above many house’s roof.
The story is very sad for many indonesian aviation lovers

9:05 changed my mood, I thought all passengers and crew died which was really sad but when I found out only 21 died it was much better than 97 and RIP to those 21 passengers

I'm Indonesian. I hope this video will serve as a lesson to all airline industry to improve operational and safety standard. Afaik Garuda as national flag carrier has improved significantly in the last decade, other budget airline should follow suit.

If my memory is right, Adisucipto airport is a military airport/base and a normal airport at once, which might explain the short runway. It’s also located in a city center (it wasn’t before, but it grew into a city basically)The government has built a bigger airport in Yogyakarta now though.

RavRazer dude really... that “mistake” could’ve been prevented if that damn pilot made a go around and tried for a safer approach. Because of him being so stubborn, ignorant, and overly-confident that he will score the landing, he got 21 people killed! Yes we make mistakes, but we can make smart choices. As a pilot, you have to be able to prioritize the safety of you and your passengers/flight crew... so don’t justify this incident by saying we all make mistakes!
RavRazer theres “making a mistake” and then there’s being a 737 captain and not noticing you are landing over 80 knots over speed and somehow after bouncing twice not going around. This guy should have never been in a cockpit.

title was fine IF THIS RELEASED AROUND 2007, but it was released on 2018, which already have big differences on safety in indonesia's aviation
also i think this is first time this channel made such title
the title was suggesting even now indonesia's airline, especially Garuda Indonesia (which was featured on video) was unsafe like that day and no improvement made during last 11 years since accident
but the fact now is garuda was rated 5 star airline, and even got several awards
whoever manage this channel, i suggest change the title that at least not the one that can leading to conclusion "Indonesia's Airline is still bad like 11 years ago"
i think no one can be happy if their nation is labeled as bad for mistakes in past that already rectified decades later, especially in aviation industries

Because the title of the video it was before was basically saying don't fly in Indonesia (it was more targeted at the people from the way it was worded) it might be that he's not a native English speaker the UA-camr who's making these videos I don't know but it might be that he just did not understand the implications of the title he had before
i don't think getting a bonus for using less fuel was the reason why he crash landed the plane he was at high steep angle nearly 100 knots more speed the plane should have been going to land at, the co-pilot should have dismissed him and done a go around
he's changed title now but he still worded it very weirdly (more like clickbate word now but better then what it was before)

I just don't understand this Captain. The cavalier manner in which he chose to make his approach; it's bizarre! Did he forget that he was responsible not only for his own life, but everyone else on board? Little doubt that the fuel bonus played a huge part in his decision to continue the landing when they were so far out of the parameters. Simply crazy; his behavior!

Basically, you can't have excessive speed when landing, because by the time you make corrections, you will run out of runway. Must have patience of an orderly procedure in everything to fly right. Nice videos.

There's no reason for disliking this video. Its good to learn from the incident nd garuda has done this.
Again 👍🏻 for THE FLIGHT CHANNEL for wonderful video. But the message that flashes in the end EVERYONE SURVIVES gives immense happiness to me. But for this particular incident 21 lost their lives. All could be saved but lack of coordination among Emergency services resulted in death of passengers.

Same, even though I'm from Jogjakarta, but now I know the reason why the plane crash.
According to this video the terrain warning sounded over 15 times; I cannot figure why this Captain decided to ignore those warnings. And what is it with Captains and First Officers no communicating with each other. Of the many videos of this nature there seems to be a running issue with the pilot and co-pilot not communicating properly. Furthermore, the F/O informed the Captain to go around; the Captain ignored him, so why didn't he take control of the aircraft. Who cares whether the Captain would be annoyed or angry. YOU HAVE LIVES IN YOUR HANDS SOCIAL GRACES GO OUT THE WINDOW TO SAVE LIVES - PILOTS HAVE A DUTY TO PROTECT THE AIRCRAFT AND ITS PASSENGERS NOT THE EGOS OF CAPTAINS.

Maybe arrogance. And in Eastern culture/religion the younger/junior usually respect the older/senior so much so that they became too scared to scold their superiors and took control. Good thing that the Captain got prison punishment, although still won't fill the loss of the grieving families. I hope after fatal pilot-error accidents like these, the pilots should be fired and never allowed to fly a plane again...
