A little suggestion for improving results. Change drivers several times during the test in order to avoid the driver bias and also change cars positions on highway (or keep a safer distance) to avoid aerodynamic biased results
Perfect test, thank you boys, you will always please me, I am your big fan. I keep my fingers crossed and wish a lot of energy for more perfect videos. Greetings from Slovakia Current owner: Toyota RAV4 AWD hybrid (2021) and Ford Ranger 2.2 TDCi (2015)
The Mazda was on front, so you have to consider that this SUV takes the whole air pressure and will have bigger consumption, if the Mazda was as second car, than you could expect much better result. Ive made with my Mazda cx 5 with I-loop 2,5 L/194 HP yesterday 5L/100 km behind a Truck with arround 90km/h for arround 30 km highway and 15 km city. You can drive it really cheap, but only when you are under 110-120 km/h, than with constant speed the engine shuts 2 cylinders and you will lower the consumption.
Love the test , but on road test was not good ( driving the cars behind each other will limit air drag , first car will have most air resistance so it will take more fuel) other than that the off road was great 👍🏼
Pleasantly surprised about the Mazda CX-5. It is going to be my next car. I've watched this great video as a reassurance of my choice. I wonder what the updated 2022 model consumption would be as in this video, the 2017 model was used. Great video !!
Considering there are lots of UA-cam channels that do fuel consumption tests, but there are very few channels that arrange large scale off-road testing, I think you should keep your focus on the latter. Btw, really waiting for the next video with a bunch of different Land Rovers!
The best channel to show the actual capabilities of vehicles, really thank you for this effort, and I hope to make a comparison between ( xterra vs everest vs montero sport vs mux vs fortuner).
Cx5 surprised the crap out of me, it's 2017 car still out performing the RAV4. I thought my 2024 CX wasn't fuel efficient, but I'm now happy after viewing this video. Thanks a ton
I just bought a 2024 Chevy Equinox... THANK YOU for this video, I did noticed this past month that my boy chugs gas like a bigger boy, but the torque it showed in this video, makes it worth it...!!!
Suggestion, don't drive too close to the car ahead. It has been tested by MythBusters that following near the car ahead could increase fuel economy up to 45%
we saw the best in off road was the Hyundai Tucson, it seems the electronic traction control was superior if difficult terrain, by the other hand the equinox seems better devolpment in off road because te driver use momentum for cruise the difficult terrain. congratulations for your good job making so interesting videos. Regards
Would be interesting to see fi you can get a newer mazda with the designated offroad mode. It's made a world of difference in every video I've seen of the Mazda.
A suggestion would be to increase the engine noise for more immersion . Amidst the voice and bgm the engine noise is barely audible . It used to be better in ur older videos so it would be nice if u reverted back!
Weigh the cars before and after the test (after fill up) to get a more accurate fuel consumption result. If a car weighs more than before the test, it means you put more gas after the test than before the test and you have to adjust your calculations accordingly. The same goes if a car weighs less after the test than before the test. It means you put less gas after the test than before the test and you have to adjust your calculations accordingly.
Wow!! It's a comparison of the century...... I especially like the work of tcs in rock and dirt mode of RAV4 which eliminate wheel spin..... I would love you to compare the Ford Everest or Ford ranger with 3.2litre 5 cylinder and another one with 2.0litre biturbo 4 cylinder diesel engine to see the difference in fuel economy of similar cars but different engine
I like this tests a lot, great video as always. I wonder how the CX-50 would perform on this test, considering is a "more focused" off road version of the CX5. Cheers from Panama.
I tend to think that if the test was about fuel consumption, it was not necessary to do the off-road test since some cars will use lots of fuel due to their non off-road capabilities hence the results being biased..
As CX-5 owner, I must highly appreciate to the engineers in Mazda for inventing such a wonderful ICE system : SKYACTIV. I haven't tried off road track with my car, I hope its 194HP & 253Nm Torque can help to conquer difficult tracks.
Lol,love from Canada, picked my chevy equinox 2.0T AWD midnight edition in late 2019s, when I bought the chevy, the only competitor was Mazda CX5 2.5 for the excellent handling,RAV 4 was never an option.
Please allow for considerable distance between vehicles while driving on the highway. It's not only unfair for gas consumption estimates but also very dangerous in case of an accident. The following vehicles don't have room to suddenly stop or avoid a rear end collision with each other.
Hello I think the main idea of the test is good. But I have a few observations. First, when rolling on the highway, distance between cars should be longer to avoid wind resistance being broken from the car in front to the following car. Less resistance, less gas consumption. Second, of road should be measure without measuring gas (i did not understand if actually it was).
They never tested the off-road version of the CX-5. Also, Mazda states the CX-5 is not meant for serious off-road operation. The newer CX-50 with off-road software apparently is the best they offer now, but they never tested it. Amazing to me is the Mazda with only a 6 speed automatic and technology dating back to 2012 still got the best gas consumption of these four cars. Sometimes old tech with an engine is the most economical apparently.
A little suggestion for improving results. Change drivers several times during the test in order to avoid the driver bias and also change cars positions on highway (or keep a safer distance) to avoid aerodynamic biased results
#Racing #SlipStream #Drafting
Not what I was expecting in these tests, but these are the more practical tests when considering purchasing an SUV, especially for off-roading
Absolutely loved this! Best off-road channel imo !! Thank you team SUV battle :)
I love this new format. You guys deserve more sub
Very good collaboration and demonstration of vehicles. You guys have a great format. Bravo 👏
Good format, but flawed when it comes to fuel economy testing. These guys obviously never raced seriously or hyper-miled.
I was good on the fuel economy rankings, but definitely got a surprise on the off-road segment 👍🏻
Have you been on this channel previously?
@@SUVBattle Yes, I've watched most of your videos, if not all, and my dream car is the Nissan Patrol 👌
I really like these kind of videos, i like to see cars getting pushed to their limits especially these mini suv or cross over, I'm a fan of this video
Thanx for watching and stay tuned for more! ;-)
@@SUVBattle i sure will
I've been waiting for this amazing video
Seriously, Hyundai is underrated. It's such a good car. Bigups to this video, very informative. Thank you
it was my dream car❤

Amazing test! Waiting for a new cx5 test!

Is there a speed Mazda shuts 3 cylinders down and transforms into a motorbike?)
Love the test , but on road test was not good ( driving the cars behind each other will limit air drag , first car will have most air resistance so it will take more fuel) other than that the off road was great 👍🏼

Great video. I loved it.
The Toyota disappointed me and the Hyundai surprised me.
Keep it up guys!
fantastic this is the best review. please keep it up. the tests u did were fantastic. thank u
I just bought a 23 CX-5 and I’m obsessed!!!
I’m glad you are enjoying it . I just think the cx5 needs a 7 or 8 speed transmission for better fuel economy .
Best unbiased review I've ever seen.... Great work 👏👏
Considering there are lots of UA-cam channels that do fuel consumption tests, but there are very few channels that arrange large scale off-road testing, I think you should keep your focus on the latter. Btw, really waiting for the next video with a bunch of different Land Rovers!

Anyone who drives Mazdas know how amazingly fuel efficient they are.
Yes sir.

Amazing Video. Would be awesome if you could put a 2021 CX-5 instead of this 2017 one.
Yes... and from 2021 Mazda CX5 has off road mode button... a big diference in offroading....

Man,this is so technical!!!!!best ever,brillant
Nicely done. This just goes to show that the most popular small suvs are not suvs. I would take the chevy for its power and acceleration.
Love this channel
I like this tests a lot, great video as always. I wonder how the CX-50 would perform on this test, considering is a "more focused" off road version of the CX5. Cheers from Panama.
A 2021 Mazda CX 5 would do better than the 2017 Mazda CX 5 they have in this. Idk why they put a 2017 Mazda going against 2021 cars here.
I think cx 50 is for us market for now. To my understanding this video was recorded in Kazakhstan.
Amazing video... i dont understand why you don't have millions of views
I was expecting the vehicles that are 2021 model to be more fuel efficient but the CX-5 surprised me the most
I have the 2.5 AWD and it is nowhere that thirsty and i’m not a patient driver. they must have been hitting these cars hard.
grat test, we waiting for another one !
Amazing comparison.
Would love to see it with more vehicles like the Honda Cr-V, Nissan Rogue etc

Mazda cx5 2022 has a nice trail mode...
Good video and information, thanks
This video was great!
The next video will be SAVAGE !
What is your favorite car from the next video?
@@SUVBattle Good evening Sir, definitely the new Defender.
But I'm eager to see how the Toyota 76 performed against the very advanced Land Rovers.
I have always liked the cx5 you only drifting me further into it more
Well there was certain upgrade in Hyundai tucson as compared to previous versions
Beautiful video! Got my subscription! 🇺🇦 🇰🇿✌️

CX-5 2017 vs 2021 other models 😐 and the newer Cx5 models have an off - road mode that is shown in other reviews like CarQuestion and TFL
The most detailed comparison so far

How about frequent overheating, is it a true story for CX-5?
@@cgenpro175 Not at all, in tropical country like where I live, temperature is often 35 degree C above but never experience that so far.

Would have liked to see how the Subaru Forester compares.

Dude nice new camera and editing
Mega useful video!
Love Mazda CX5!
Tucson easily beats out the rest
very reasonable comparison and fair. But it would be more clear to understand if tire dynamic radius was shown.

Test the new 2022 Mitsubishi Outlander against the new Tuscon, Sportage and other competitors and do an Off-road test too
hello, it hould so nice and helpful to have such a comparaison with toyota RAV4 AWD, vs RAV4 AWD trail, vs RAV4 plug-in.
It’s interesting to see the differences of these vehicles.
Every car in that lineup can make those obstacles easy if you know how to drive and take the best angles.
Considering the Mazda's four years older than the rest I'm actually super impressed.
Where is ssangyong actyon sports. ssangyong rexton 2021 ssangyong musso grand/Khan 2021?
2022 Mazda CX-5 should have off road mode. Did the vehicle in the video have it?
No the one in the video was a 2017
Best off road review ever. Auto makers should subscribe to this channel to know actual real world behaviors/performance of their products.
Would like to see same test done with Audi, BMW and mercedes thanks for really good show
I saw that Touareg in the background :)
This is not fair to Mazda CX5 !
Mazda is the only 2017... From 2021 Mazda CX5 has off road mode !!! A biiiiiig diference....

Why is 2017 Mazda CX5 in this going against 2021 Toyota, Hyundai and Chevrolet. If you cant have 2020 or 21 Mazda in this why you even putting it in.
very good test
maybe you can try the a forester and a outback vs other suvs, regards
good test, i like ..
tks for equinox
