There is another hydro electric dam in Oregon city from 125yrs ago (still functional but on the 3rd generation and rebuild), and one at white river falls (in Oregon) from 125yrs ago. A critical thinker might question the lack of progress in the realm of turbine technology and the whole climate change narrative and seeming lack of options for power production. On a completely different subject computers that weren't even a thought 125yrs ago went from being as large as that old power plant you were in in hood river to fitting in your back pocket.

We've been up to the OC falls a couple times but I didn't know it was still operational. I've never been to the White River falls area. We've driven by countless times going to Bend or Lake Billy Chinook.
I worked for a power company for a few years and found it fascinating how the hydro turbines work, optimal water depth/pressure and trying to manage the run of river flow among other factors. It's definitely a complex issue. 😀

@@AnchorSwing it’s still operational and from the oregon city side you can see the rusting spouts of the 13 original turbines (for now, it was purchased and is being slowly demoed) the active turbine (the 3rd gen) is just one large turbine and is operated from and on the west lynn side. They re-enforce the wooden outskirts after every winter with fresh panels and are currently working on one of the water bags that is used to damn the primary pressure points for the water. It was the first place in the world where hydro-electric energy was harnessed and sent 20miles down stream to power the city of Portland 125yrs ago. Also the second largest waterfall (by volume) after Niagara in N America. I live in Oregon city and moved here to urbex the old paper mill and falls. (Power Point) 🤔

@@AnchorSwing Also the first Masonic lodge this side of the Mississippi and the whole town is covered in Masonic and “ODD FELLOW” buildings and symbology (if you know what to look for)
