I've loved this masterpiece from Christine McVie for more than 40 years and Eva Cassidy's version only added to that love. I never would have believed a non vocal version can do this gem justice until I watched this. What a talent Mark is. Delicate, sensitive and completely true to the essence of the tune in his interpretation. He avoided showing his mastery of his instrument to simply show off but allowed his soul to deliver the notes from his guitar that capture the beauty of the melody. Simply gorgeous. He deserves a million times more views than he has garnered so far.

Two of my favourite songs by anyone, are Christine McVie’s Songbird and Wild Horses by Keef and Mick (particularly the acoustic version). I’ve been hooked on covers for a while now. That led me to Mark Allen playing Wild Horses. After playing it over and over and over etc...... I subscribed and searched for others. Enter Songbird and some Mark Knopfler and others. I watch and listen regularly. Mark Allen is my favourite street musician. I used to travel from Canada to the UK every year or two. If I’d know about this man in Cardiff, I would have made the trip from the south just to see him play in the street. Just great.

I met Mark yesterday at the Upton Blues Festival busking on the main street. Yes he sounds this good in real life and draws quite a crowd. He lives quite a long way away from Cardiff so don't expect to see him there every day. Best to try to get to Upton Blues Festival if you want to track him down. Beautifully music with so much feel. 👌👍👍👍👍
