Great room! I use a coffee shop bag for trash. Additionally, it is lined with a plastic shipping envelope to help avoid anything leaking out of the paper (like ink)! I too have thought about changing, but this works. :) Trash to treasure. Ok, so maybe trash to trash! hahahha. Thanks for sharing your space with us.
Great tip! I haven’t had leaks yet but it has definitely crossed my mind!
This was so fun to see how you have everything organized! I love your stack of Alex drawers! I want that! Knowing me those drawers would be packed full, I was surprised to see some empty spaces! 😂
LOL I know, I was actually surprised I didn’t fill them right away. I am thinking I can move my die-cuts over there so they’re all together.
COMMENT … May I suggest that where you currently have your GO-TO SCRAP STASH (o.d. 33:07) seems to EXACTLY FILL YOUR NEED?!? Sometimes we get encumbered with The I D E A L of the perfect craft room, or are so intimidated by visual cacophony, that we forget that WHAT W O R K S is what’s N E E D E D ! Perhaps, if the look of your scrap box is off putting to you, try slipping your clear bin into a shallow opaque box, like those sold for gift boxing blouses, etc.? Your scraps will still be readily accessible, but disguised. 😉👍
Another great idea. I actually figured out a scrap solution that works for me now. 😊 The bin was just too big and I was finding I wasn’t grabbing it from the closet. I now use sturdy envelopes that are out by my full sheets of cardstock and am reaching for them more. I did just a short video on it. ua-cam.com/video/d_B1AZ5J7Ks/v-deo.html
COMMENT… At o.d. 32:30 you show a STACK of PHOTO KEEPER BOXES, but earlier you showed ephemera in several different places, seemingly in random . Why not use that stack - in THAT place - to store your ephemera, etc.??
That’s a good thought, thanks! I will consider it. I have done more organizing of my ephemera since this video and still have more to do.
Thank you for sharing! Absolutely beautiful and organized. What colour is on your walls now? And what’s the name of your new swatch you would like to paint? Love both colours. Thanks!
Hi Anita! I am not exactly sure what the color is now because the walls were this color when we moved in. But the closest match I found on my Sherwin-Williams paint swatches is Rain. And I don’t know the new color because I had them color match something I had! It’s more blue and a little brighter. I am sorry I’m not much help! 😂
Sooooo many nice little nuggets of information and INSPIRATION. I'm hoping to have my lights hung by next month (birthday "gift"...lol). I LOVE how you took the Tim Holtz DO containers and removed the lid...mind blown!!!
Glad it was helpful! I am so excited for you to get your lights hung...it's a game changer!! Just be sure to measure, LOL!
Why on earth did IKEA make all the Alex drawers different heights!?!?! It makes me bonkers too.
I know, right?!!
Can you please tell me where you got the Spectrum Noir Tri-Blend marker swatch sheet. Also, thank you so much for the tour. So many great ideas that I hope to duplicate!
Thank you! It was created by a fellow Maker Christine Kaye in a private group - so I cannot share her file. But there’s a different free swatch sheet on spectrum noir’s website!
This is a really relaxing and soothing tour, you sound like wonderful person. Enjoyed this immensely, am just starting to put together a small craft room in a small extra bedroom, thank you!
Glad you enjoyed! That is awesome…have fun setting it up! You’ll go thru a lot of versions I’m sure 😊 Mine is still often evolving.
You did such a fantastic and thoughtful job explaining everything. Nicely done, my friend! I love that deep desk and all the other special custom woodwork Chris made for you. I tidied up my craft room as I watched your video of your beautiful craft space - you inspire me, Jayma! ❤
Thanks so much! ❤️❤️❤️
Love the tour! This is how I discovered your channel and I’m obsessed 😍 I do have a question about the salt cellar you use to keep you stamp. I currently have a container but the shammy gets stinky if I leave it in it. Is it the same with the salt cellar or is there something special about it that makes it not smell?
I have not had a problem with it getting stinky. Maybe because it’s not totally airtight. It definitely loses some moisture each day even when closed but I can keep using it for over a week. By the end it is not very wet but I make it work 😂 If I don’t close it all the way it dries out faster. Awww yay! That would be my guess. I mean, it’s not really great-smelling but definitely not stinky. I think I’ve been using this same cellar for 3 years and have not washed it!
I like your glitter inker drawers are they from Michaels. Did you ever paint the kallax white to match the rest of your beautiful room 🙂
I got them from Hobby Lobby I think..Looooooong time ago. They don’t carry them now but they are Totally Tiffany. I don’t want to bother painting the kallax because they will be replaced at some point. Not worth the hassle to me. 😂
Hi I was hoping you could give me the link to your studio lights you have hung from the ceiling. Many thanks
Yep! Here you go!
Studio Lights (1 or 2 light options): amzn.to/3lCMneb
Ceiling Mounts for Lighting: amzn.to/3nkjns7
wrt photo papers, if you like the semi-gloss, you can also look for the 'satin finish'. The terms are interchangeable. Love your room; lots of neat things I can use!
Oh that is good to know, thanks!
Hi! Did you make/design your spectrum noir swatch sheet or did you purchase that from CTMH? I saw Erin Jacobsen’ craft room tour and she had a different size/ configuration. If you made yours, did you use White Daisy card stock to get the true representation of the colors? Love CTMH and your (and Erin’s) layouts and ideas!
Thanks so much! This swatch chart was designed by another Maker who shared it with me. And yes, I printed it on white daisy cardstock. I believe Erin has the one from SpectumNoir’s website. If you google it I’m sure you can find it pretty quickly!
@@JaymaMalme Thank you so much for your speedy reply! Looking forward to see what you share next.
Great craft room and tour. You described everything in terms anyone could understand. Great ideas!
Thank you so much! I hope it gave you some inspiration 😊
Hi Jayma Can you please let me know what kind of glue you used you apply the magnetic sheets and what is the MDF? Thank you very much Carolyn Taylor
Hi Carolyn, I really can’t remember what glue I used. It may have been wood glue. I think I painted it on thin so you wouldn’t see the beads of glue thru the magnets. MDF is like plywood except made of composite so it’s smooth.
Thank you so much 🙂@@JaymaMalme
It was so fun seeing your crafty space where all of your amazing layouts are created. I picked up some great ideas! That will be so nice when your husband converts the closet to a custom built in unit! I love your wall color choice you shared with us on the paint swatch, that’s going to look awesome.
Thank you! Now I just need the energy to paint 😆
What magnet sheets do you use to fill your thin cut envelopes?
Hi Shannon! I use the magnets that CTMH’s Thin Cuts come on, and cut them down to size.
Please tell me the colour paint used on your walls in the craft room?
I wish I could tell you! It was here when we moved in and I don’t have it.
Your husband didn't need to build a table top or legs. They have all of that at Ikea. Very nice craft room. I loved watching it. Thank you for sharing.
Thank you! Believe me, I looked at Ikea’s table tops. They are not nearly as deep or long as I wanted. I wanted it to be one piece so it had to be custom. He loved having a project and it was cheaper to do it this way than buy something. The legs were scraps, so why buy them when we have them?
And, how lovely that your husband was involved in something near and dear to your heart.
Hi Jayma, thank you for a great video. Love the filming set up.I may try one like it. I’m using a ring light set up that works but takes up floor spa e….which you know is prime real estate!
Glad it was helpful! Yes, it does! I have a ring light I used to use but found it left too much glare. Now I use it for when I am showing my face on camera since it’s portable.
Wonderful lighting ideas. Thanks!
Love the color of paint on the walls. What color is it?
Thanks! I actually don’t know because it was on the walls when we moved in and we don’t have the paint can. The closest I found with paint swatches is Sherwin Williams Rain.
Pretty name
Beautiful room J. If you are not reaqdy for built ins in your closet have you considered painting you expedit white. There is a lovely paint called Fusion mineral paint. A light sand of the black and it would likely cover in 1 coat. Thanks for sharing your beautiful space ❤❤❤
That’s an interesting idea! Thank you ❤️
Good morning, Jayma. Your hubby and mine would get along fine. I usually approach Bob with an idea then ask what he has in his scrap pile we can use. He built a riser (similar to the one for your slim cabinet) to bring my two 2-drawer filing cabinets up to the height of the book shelf unit they would be paired with.
Great organization with room to move. You have room for an island... just saying LOL Creative Blessings!
Thanks for your kind words. That’s awesome that he loves projects for your craft room too. My hubby is always looking for an excuse to play in his workshop like I look for an excuse to play in my craft room 😂 Ah I know…I really would love an island! I was thinking of that as a possibility when we do built-ins where the closet is. But I also REALLY love being under the big window with natural light. I will play with the placement when I redo things down the road for sure.
Have you used your foil transfer kit yet?
I have. I don’t use it very often though.
Wow, you’re amazingly organized! THankYou you for sharing your inspirational tips!!!
Thanks so much! 😊 Hope it gives you some ideas!
Not supposed to store the distress inks on there side like that
Actually Tim has said it doesn’t matter how you store them. The tins they’re in are made for those inks.
I like your tip to take the top off the Distress containers! I may try that! You have a beautiful space. Those windows are so great for natural lighting!
Thanks so much! 😊 It makes it so much easier!
Girrrrrl, how many trimmers do you have? 😂 I jest, but I have seven so I can totally relate!
Hahahaha I know, it’s a little ridiculous. And I want the new TH one 😂
Are your Alex drawers hooked together or just stacked together?
They are just stacked!
@@JaymaMalme Thank you
Very inspiring tour!
How do you keep your annual albums to 1 book? I have 3 full albums per year typically 🤦♀️😅
LOL probably because they aren’t done yet 😂 I have 2 albums for 2020 because I did a lot of scrapping for that year. I have a feeling the others will expand too! But also, I typically add a lot of photos to my pages.
Thank you for sharing! Envious of your space and organization (and of course all your "stuff"). I love the use of the jewelry boxes! I save them them too, now I may have a use for them.
It felt so good to put them all to good use! I hope it works for you!
Enjoyed the tour and got a lot of ideas - Thank you! In the closet - with the mailing supplies - you mentioned a 'file' box - I can't find it on the list you have posted - where did you buy that? Thanks.
Hello! I'm trying to find which file boxes you mean. The ones I have. my catalogs in? Those are from Ikea.
Love your craft room. Where did you find the versa mats.
Thank you! They were from Close to my Heart, which is now out of business. Stampin’ Up is going to be carrying many items similar to what CTMH did, so hopefully they’ll get Versamats in the future. They are awesome!
@@JaymaMalme Thank you
Hi Jayma! Beautiful room. I don't remember seeing...where do you storge your re-inker bottles? Thanks.
Good question! They are in the little Totally Tiffany drawers where my glitter and paints are. In the black Kallax in the closet. Darn I should have pointed those out!
Good idea to have a kids craft cabinet. I just had my LO so once she gets older, I intend to make a space in my craft room for her!
It it SO nice to be able yo say “you can use anything in here!” 😂 Congrats on your LO!
What mount are you using?
An Arkon mount.
I love your craft space! Where did you find the small folding table you keep folded up next to your desk?
Thanks so much! It’s from Walmart - they still have it!
How do you manage to only have 1 scrapbook per year? I’m impressed and an over-scrapper so I end up with wayyyy too many albums each year!
Haha well I think first, because none of them are finished! But I also don’t want a million scrapbooks because they take up so much space. I usually do layouts with lots of photos on them. I do have two 2020 albums (6 months in each) and will probably end up with 2 albums for some others. I scrap totally out of order.
Your craftroom is amazing! I love the Alex drawers and your desk! Maybe add a curtain to your wardrobe and you can close it up when it gives you anxiety.
Thank you! I may do that…I was thinking it may get annoying bc I get in there often but I can always leave it open I suppose!
Great ideas; your hubby is talented and nice he can make things work for you. Love some of your ideas. Thanks for being so thorough with your sharing.
Thank you so much!
If you go ahead & hang a curtain across the units, then you should think about the curtain itself, whether you would like to have it plain or patterned or whether you would like to design your own pattern & create a patchwork finish by gluing fabric onto the curtain. Or you could have a lovely photo of each one of your children on each side & when together they are clapping hands!! Something unique, that makes you smile as you sit in there crafting!!
Great suggestions, thank you, Louise.
Beautiful Craft Room! Where did you get the sparkle wall art and that beautiful floral picture?
Thank you! They are from Hobby Lobby. I checked and unfortunately they are no longer available 😞
Jayma- You mentioned some items that you had to sell, I have some stamps sets from other companies that I am trying to sell. Any suggestions on selling your old items?
Hi Laura, What a lot of people do is join buy/sell FB groups. The ones I know of are mostly CTMH, is that was you have to sell or is it other brands? Ebay is another option but not worth selling just 1 stamp set here and there, more helpful if you can sell a whole lot together. They take a large fee. I used to do that but find it's not worth it anymore. I personally sell thru a "stash sale" group I created for my customers and friends and do a FB Live sale every so often. It's been a couple of years since I did one.
Awesome craftroom and ideas! Thanks for sharing. 😊
Thanks, I’m glad you enjoyed! I love seeing other people’s crafty spaces…like yours!! ❤️
Thank you for sharing your craft room set up - I also watched Erin's - loving the magnetic boards for your dies!
Thank you!
Your craft room is so pretty; it's clean and organized. Looks like such an inviting space to work in. Thank you for the ideas for storage and decor! :) Kari
Thank you so much! It's definitely my happy place 😊
Gorgeous crafting area! Definitely heading to Lowe’s!! Thank you for the detailed tour. ❤
You are so welcome! Have fun! I had a hard time finding as many as I needed at one store so check online first - it will tell you the store’s inventory so you don’t make an unnecessary trip! You can also order them online.
Awesome craft room! You‘ve done a great job of organizing!
Thank you so much! I love organizing almost as much as crafting 😂
You have a very functional craft room Jayma. I love that you have bits and bobs of storage as we all do. I am loving all the craft room tours of the team, some ideas for my very small space with overflow when necessary, to the 3mt long kitchen bench!
Thank you so much! I agree, it's so fun to see how different everyone's spaces are and take little bits and pieces from each person's ideas! No matter what the space, you CAN be creative and produce beautiful artwork ❤
I just love your videos! You totally inspire me to be a better scrapper! Love your craft room!!
Awwww, thanks so much for the sweet note 😍 I am so happy to hear that.
Thanks for the paper storage idea! How often does ctmh change the colors?
Not more than once per year, with the change of the Core catalog in Aug or Sept. Last year there were 6 new colors (and 6 retired).
Great idea for taking the lids off the distress oxide bins and repurposing the lids.
Thanks, makes it so much easier!
Thank you for sharing your room and tips. This was so helpful!
Glad it was helpful!
My first thought is, I’m really jealous! And so happy for you. I do need some shelves in my closet. My first question for you, how do you pack your ink pads, brushes, dies, paper and other items to go to a weekend retreat? How do you know where to find a stamp set with a bird, a border, a journal box or something specific? Do you use a system like Evernote, one note, or color my life?
What a beautifully organized space. I hope you have many hours of joy creating there. Thank you for sharing!
That is a great question, and could be a whole other video how I pack. LOL. I'll add that to my idea list. I usually toss my blending brushes into zip-top bags. Super fancy. I put my SpectrumNoir markers into a zippered pouch from Thirty-One. I put my ink pads and stamps in these: jaymamalme.closetomyheart.com/Retail/Product.aspx?ItemID=10661&ci=10092
And as far as finding stamps, I am in the process of cataloging my stamps and dies into Evernote. I like to think I know what I have in my head, and for the most part I do and until I started using Evernote that's how I found what I wanted. But Evernote will definitely help because I know there are stamps I forget about! I do try to flip thru my bins from time to time to remind me of what I have and usually something will inspire me and I'll want to use it RIGHT NOW! 😂
Great walk through! I love how you have organized your stamps in the grey bins.
Thanks so much!
Your room is beautiful and functional, best of both worlds! I do have a question. What envelopes do you use to store your dies? Thank you for sharing your wonderful storage ideas. 😊
Hi Kim, thanks so much! 💗 Here’s what I use. They aren’t perfect but they’re inexpensive and so far so good!
- Square: amzn.to/3K3mzBe
- Rectangle: amzn.to/3K5JYBZ
@@JaymaMalme Thank you so much. ❤️
Holes in ceiling: use a bit of plain white toothpaste to fill the holes (its a renters trick!!)
That’s a great tip!
Your room is fantastic and so organized. Enjoyed your tour.
Thank you so much! I’m so glad ❤️
Thanks for the great tour. I really enjoyed seeing your room and how you organize. ❤
Yay! I am glad you enjoyed. Thank you!
Do you have a link for the Lowes storage for your stamps?
Teresa, here it is. Sorry I forgot that link! www.lowes.com/pd/Herringbone-7-13-in-W-x-5-5-in-H-x-10-69-in-D-Gray-Fabric-Bin/1000146043

You are so welcome! I am glad you enjoyed!
Thanks for the tour. I would like to do something with my closet too.
I went back and forth for a while bc it’s nice to have a closet. But the current spot is hard to work with. Hope you get yours done!
Do you happen to know the name of the current paint color on your walls?
I don’t. I wish I did so I could paint the spackled areas!
Nice spae and great organization tufs 💜🦋
Thank you! 🤗
Awesome craft room!! I love craft room video tours.
Thank you! 😊 I love watching them too!
Awesome space with great organization ideas!
Thanks so much!
Great Craft room. Thanks for sharing
Thank you! 💕
My desk setup is similar and I hang my heat gun from a command hook on the inside leg space of my desk. It’s handy and does t get in the way
Oh that is a GREAT
idea!! Totally doing that, thanks!!
@@JaymaMalme yeah works out great. I got the idea watching another video like yours haha.
@@partialartsblackbelt8384 I love how we all get ideas from each other! I have gotten many ideas from watching other videos too.
Thanks for the tour. Great ideas
You are so welcome! Glad you liked it.
Your craft room looks like such a fun and relaxing place to go to create. I absolutely love how peaceful all of the elements in your room make me feel. Your husband has done such a great job of creating really great storage solutions for your supplies.
Thank you so much!
Where do 6ou live
Hi Kathy, I’m in Colorado.
It was great to see your space!
Thank you! Wish we could craft together again!
Nice video! Curious what phone mount are you using?
Thanks! I use an Arkon.
There are so many good ideas in this video! My favorite, though, might be your mug warmers. I can’t believe I don’t have one! My craft room is on the second floor of our house away from the kitchen. It would be amazing to have one. Thanks for the inspiration!
Ooooh you’ve gotta get one! It’s a game-changer!!!
