Noise reduction!!?? Where has this vid been my whole life! Thank you Sir. I dragged my VT40+ out tonight and had completely forgot so much about it. You are a star!!
Thanks.Much appreciated. I've just ordered the VOX Valvetronix VT40X with a Footswitch. It arrives next week. I also use the Boss BD2 Booster and RC1 Looper pedals which I will front end in to this amp. I particularly like the CLEAN, CHORUS, TREMOLO and REVERB effects that you show cased. I'm a Blues guitarist playing a LP59 (P90s), so I will set up the Footswitch with some of the Blues presets using those preferred effects/tones. Thanks again for your hands-on navigation of the VOX VT40X programs. It certainly offers a banquet of sound. You're geting some very nice tones.
Great review and in depth overview of the functions. I've had the VT80+ for a few months now and still find something that I didn't know before. Some would say it's a little to complicated to understand (including me !) But your review has helped immensely. Thank you 😊
Managed to get a VT40+ locally second hand for $100- with a Yamaha Pacifica (a Bargain in Australia). It did not come with Manual/Instructions but came with the Vox VFS5 Footswitch. Thankyou So Much for your Excellent Comprehensive Tutorial and Demo (Nice Playing). Awesome work. Very Helpful. I Now know I got an Awesome Amplifier with so many options and Realise how much of a Bargain I got. Thanks again.
I just picked up a used VT20+. Had the 30w version years ago, but had to go through the different brands and price phase. Thanks for the tutorial, picked up a couple pointers I didn't know about!
Thanks for this! Best tutorial, you made things alot clearer. I have the Vox Valvetronix pro 150. VTX150 It has the very same control panel and knobs , and has 4 amp models for each model instead of 3. After green, red & yellow there is a blue led color for the 4th... So it has 44 amp models. It has a EL84 large tube in it instead of a 12ax7. It's unpopular and a limited edition with no tutorials online. But since it has the very same control panel ,functions, knobs and works exactly the same, your tutorial is just what i was looking for. Thanks very much for this, everything is alot clearer now and i enjoy this amp even more!
Thanks for making this video...I have a Vox AD60VT (pre Vietnam) and have no user manual, and none seem posted online- without software BS they want to put on my computer. But your video helps me grasp what my amp does, so again thanks. By the way, I put this amp in series with a Marshall code 50...Combined they make a killer wall of sound...very close to a true stack. Marshall is set clean, as output from Vox has effects. To connect the two I just ran another guitar chord from Vox output to Marshall input, no box required although we had one to test, didn't need it. Of course this provides 2- 12 inch speakers...lots of sound. Alone, neither the Vox nor the Marshall were killer, but combined they make magic.
Interesting. for an overdrive sound, guess you drive both the amps? have to right, otherwise there be a drive combined with a clean.. and Im glad this video was of help!

But, I put a lil' home studio together during the pandemic lockdown - I have bought specific guitars for their studio sounds, and amps too, now, as I close up on the last few axes. Last month I bought the baby Orange Crush12 - cool little thing! - Orange ticked off my list. Fender I have in spades. This, is my expression of Vox - It is purely to record with in a pretty sophisticated home-studio. And, so far so good.... Bless you and yours - am subscribed to this wonderfully authentic lil' channel... brilliant stuff. (Edit!) - Marshall something, and a hollow-body guitar of some description, IDEALLY with soap-bar P-90 style pickups (though that ain't imperative) - and I'm done... wish-List fulfilled! Este excelente video informativo ...podrían editarlo en castellano .???.. yo tengo un amplificador igual con el pedal de pie VFS 5 . POR FAVOR ! Muchas gracias !
I’ve had one of these for about 12 years, since they were first introduced. I like to use it as a standard style amp, as the presets are too processed for me. I used it for small gigs, but it worked well miked into a big PA for an outdoor concert we played at. Built like a little tank too! The power attenuator actually works great too. All in all it’s a good, inexpensive little modeler.
@@URBANBEATSACADEMY I bought one anyhow, I love it and so do my neighbours as prior to the Vox I was using my 1979 WEM Dominator MKII which is far too powerful for using at home

This system has 99 preset modes, from which 66 are described in the Owner's Manual. But for 33 preset modes I could not find any description anywhere. Not in the documentation, not in the reviews and not here in the videos. I understand there are 33 amp models, which are described on pages 22 to 25 in the Owner's Manual. These 33 preset modes correspond with preset mode switch "green" / "basic". There are also 33 typical presets for famous hit songs, which are described on page 35 in the Owner's Manual. These 33 preset modes correspond with the preset mode switch "red" / "song". However, what is left are the 33 preset modes for "orange" / "effect". I would like to have a description of these preset modes too, but I cannot find it anywhere. These missing 33 "effect" presets are for the above mentioned 33 amp models, but with added effects. The added effects however seem random to me; there is no description and no logic. Can someone help me filling the gaps?
this is a quick start tutorial, that talks about the layout panels. An elaborate of the presets video is coming up, sub to this channel and keep tab mate
It shows you how to make your own sounds but can I put the presets on the pedal?? while playing I want all the sounds on the floor if I can. I am trying to store UK metal at the moment and I can't do it ?? thanks heaps I really appreciate it x
One more thing. Mine developed this weird habit where every so often the bass dropped out and there was a volume drop. I tried researching this but found nothing and even replaced the tube. But I think it’s just static building up, and if you quickly plug in and out a normal guitar cable into the input if fixes it. Hopefully this saves you some frustration.
whow have to go to the gym but enjoying this. Il watch it in 90 mins hahaha. I am really hoping you explain how to use the pedal VFs5 with it cause I have no time on stage to turn around and alter the amp. I have the 20 and 40 and 2 marshalls. These amps rip...blew me away even when I took the 20 to a gig. Havent used my new 40 yet thats why I am watching this. I have learnt about 3 things and only watch the first 8.37 seconds.....xx
I haven't used the foot pedal so cant comment on that, and yes I have used vt40 on stage and it sounds good, for the lead boost, I just a pick harder and max up the volume
Yes, the aux input is just for that ! volume on the phones out can be controlled in the device its input to (amp, audio card, powered speakers etc), or use a headphone that has volume controls
Great demo and hugely useful as I just picked up a second hand one of these. However, I still don't quite understand what the 'power level' knob does exactly - does it affect the tone or is it just another volume knob? Googled, but no one really gets into. Any thoughts?
Mick, the Power knob 'adds' the tube analogue thickness to the sound signal at the last stage. Lowering it completely will shut off the signal, increasing it will add the tube effect and keeping it low with the volume knob high will give you the solid state bite to your sound, hope that helps
Hello, I have pedal (boss metalzone) and when i put to clean for use my pedal the clean is not clean (like no effect) should i leave it in bypass mode or ? Thanks !
Great video! I’ve used the 40+ as my practice amp for many years (I’ve since moved onto the Spark amp and mustang micro). It’s a great little modeling amp. Does it sound as good as a true tube amp? No, but works great for practicing. I didn’t like most of the presets but it starts to sound better with some experimentation. I found the noise gate annoying and creates a “snare hiss” sound but when disengaged it sounds much better. I also replaced the stock speaker with another 10inch used speaker with a bigger magnet and that helped. I bought this used and don’t regret it, but it will take some time to dial in your sound.
How do you turn down the volume on every patch? When I used the foot switch every time I'm playing the clean sound then change to distortion sound. It was very loud. I want to make it balance. Switching to every patch. Thanks
If you are referring to preset patches, easiest method is to save both the presets as user patches as I have described and then calibrate the volume levels prior to your playing
hi Steve great tutorial mate, just acquired one of these, came across the Vox Tone room editor and there are some great features on there where you can add different amps effects, artist patches etc, i have downloaded the app but cannot connect the 40+ all other VT models are accepted, it appears that you have to have usb or bluetooth to connect, the 40+ doesn't have either so is there anyway i can connect the 40+, be much obliged for any help on this matter, best regards
