I have this show on an old videotape. I believe I recorded it in 1984. Freddie Starr is a great singer, when he let's himself sing properly. Of course he started out as a singer back in Liverpool.
This song is so very very beautiful. Don Mclean wrote/sang it, excellent. Freddie Starr is an excellent talent, one of those artists that can do everything. Acting great, singing great, soft, dramatic, comic. He's got the whole spectra and he can change it rapidly, now thats talent, rare talent.
The first time i saw freddie was in '76 .. Winter Gardens .. Blackpool :) .. From that night on .. and i was 13 yrs old .. you have been forever emblazoned on my mind fred .. and i have seen many of your shows since ... Keep 'em laughing fred :):):)
when he did an audience with 'freddie starr'......now that was funny. loved his performance with the jordinaires. does a great elvis, fantastic voice!!!
Thank you so much Fred. Many years you have entertained us. Sure, your off the wall and crazy, but that is good; for we all need to relax. I don't know where you are. Long live Freddie Starr.
What a lovely man, pissed meself laffin' at this guy for decades, lord knows he's had his ups & downs, but blessed with it to make us all laugh our tits off forever....!!
elvis did make comments concerning freddie, they had met each other approx.3 times in usa.he also sang in front of elvis with elvis's group.freddie has also sang in america at the hilton appearing on the same bill as englebert humperdink.
No, Elvis hadn't voiced his comments about Freddie. Freddie was little known outside the UK. Elvis enjoyed watching Monty Python films (which had done well in the US.) And thought impressions of him were a compliment, so he would have enjoyed Freddie Starr. I have fond memories growing up and watching Freddie. I have this clip on an old VHS tape - somewhere in my attic. Brilliant clip!
wow i didnt know he had sucha fantastic voice !!plus i didnt know he had died ???!! he was so talented !!plus he should have been at top of charts with that voice !!
Starr is completely Looney Toons! He has a GREAT voice. Does he ever just sing a song straight out? I mean, this guy has the pipes to really sing. Still, he IS funnier than hell.
Freddie always struck me as a tragic and conflicted man, im sure he so desperately wanted to be taking seriously as a singer, but had trouble shedding parts of his accent, and that must have frustrated him alot. Plus being a silly bugger, people always just expected him to be funny and if he just tried to sing a song, people might give him shit for it.
Brilliant. I remember him doing this. It made me cry with laughter then and it still does now. Thank you Freddie
Freddie you were the man, many tears of laughter watching you in action
More pure comic Genius from the amazing Freddy Starr

'This was the best of Freddie. So full of expectations, that the BBC destroyed by their domination of Television in the UK."

@TheJayo1971 Freddie Garity was old parrot face and played along with the dreamers.
Freddie and the Dreamers and he was born in Manchester.
@TheJayo1971 Freddie Garrity was actually the lead singer with Freddie And The Dreamers, a totally different person.

@TheJayo1971 ...er... wasn't he called Frederick Fowel??
What happened to this man, such a talent
Without doubt Freddie's best routine.... I much prefer it when he sings in this voice rather than than as Elvis.
innocent till proven guilty
@snoopy45 Both wrong..it was Freddie Powell
@TheJayo1971
I thought that was Freddie from Freddie and the Dreamers mate?
Freddie is on tour, Lichfield tonight,
Try Pausing it and letting it all load before you watch it
Starr is completely Looney Toons! He has a GREAT voice. Does he ever just sing a song straight out? I mean, this guy has the pipes to really sing. Still, he IS funnier than hell.
its from freddie starr: comedy express
You're very welcome =)
@TheJayo1971 Umm...wasn't that Freddie and the Dreamers (a 60's band)
"Parrot Face" was neither Freddie Starring nor Freddie Garrity but Freddie "Parrot Face" DAVIS.
A real clown but what a voice when he wants to use it !!!
fucking class
Nps =)
The long coat, tight trousers, boots and grimacing are all nicked from a bloke called Max Wall. He's dead though so he doesn't need the act any more.

i gree i thought he was funny...he also has a great singing voice aswell.
ROFLMAO!
that was freddie and the dreamers freddie not this freddie lol
Music and voice was perfect. Too bad it was for comedy. For me, it is the best version (if completed). Better than the Iglesias and Grobans.
Freddie Garrity? From Freddie and the Dreamers, surely?
should have been...
