Halfmoon Gulch trail near Leadville, CO

- Halfmoon Gulch was my favorite trail, of the four we did, during our Leadville trip. It might even be my favorite trail that we have done to date. It had it all. It had water crossings, including a couple that would be much tougher in the spring time with snow melt and it being much deeper. It had views similar to Tincup. It was between two 14ers, Mt. Massive and Mt. Elbert, which the latter is the tallest peak in Colorado. It had a few small, fun obstacles. It even had an old mine site too. It is definitely worth checking out!

good video
Thanks for watching!
I was there last year too. I seem to remember the creek crossing at the North Halfmoon trailhead was totally washed out
It wasn't washed out when we were there in mid-August. It might have been the water crossing on 110J though. We didn't venture down there but I have watched some videos that it appears washed out. Thanks for the comment!
Nice! Was there myself in Early August! Also saw a Mule deer near that same spot.
Thank you! Looking forward to visiting that area again!
lol.. you caught the creek at a nice low spot. usually it swallows jeeps.
I have a stock 2ng gen Taco with KO2s, do you think it’s doable for this truck? Based on video I’d say yes, but I thought I’d ask…
Most likely, yes. The later in the season the less water is flowing, depth is less. We went in August and it wasn't bad. Thanks for the comment!
Hello does this trail take you up to champion mill??
The gate was closed when we went so I'm not sure if you can drive to it normally. Thanks for the comment!
Could you give directions to get to TH from Leadville, please? Looks like a fun, beautiful trail! Thank you!
@@dirtroadfamilyadventures the mill is in private hands and visiting it is trespassing.
@@trschreck Appreciate the info. We didn't stop and kept going but I have edited my comment so thank you!
