I've tried explaining to others what the Carb Addition doctor talks about, but they hand wave and refuse to watch the videos. I haven't felt so healthy and good in more than a decade. My doctor is pleased also. Yet all people say to me is, _meh it'll come back to haunt you later_ like I can't trust either my own experience or the facts outlined by Dr. Cywes. Honestly, I'm done trying to convince people. I know what is working for me.
It’s a bit frustrating my family will not consider making changes. It would be a lot easier if they would get on board, or even realize that there are great benefits to making the changes.🤦🏻♀️

I'm post menopausal and been on Ketovore diet for about 5 months. Never went on hormones. Feeling awesome. Lipids went up, but I'm not going back on statins. Will take Niacin instead. Lost 30 lbs and 4" in the waist! Carnivore/ketovore definitely helps with hormones!
I'm 62 years old and started started a ketogenic program 4 months ago. I now weigh 170 lbs and when I wake in the morning I'm not groggy and my muscles and joints don't hurt anymore. As an avid tennis player, my game has improved mentally and physically. Recovery time is shorter and post exercise soreness is minimal. Glad to be on board with Dr. Cywes.
My neighbor is a smoker, wine and soda drinker. I was talking to her and her teen daughter this summer. Her daughter is a swimmer. The neighbor still smokes and drinks but her daughter just won her division in swimming and is going to state. She came over to thank me. She said she tried keto for a while and her skin was better, but she wasn't really sure it was keto. She went back to SAD. Her swim time dropped almost a full second. All she could think it was because of not eating sugar even though as a teen she really didn't feel a lot of physical difference. I tell you this because if your children or grandchildren are in sports. Try keto/carnivore and time yourself and then go off of it and see if your time stays the same. Also, acne. The youth don't have the issues older folks have. That comes later, but you may be able to convince the young people in your life with lack of acne and better sport times.
started keto on oct 1st, I have lost 30 LB's so far, not having back pain, my chronic cough has gone away. My right kidney no longer causes me pain, feet not swollen, I am sleeping better and feeling great.
THANKS, this perfectly explains why I had 3 muscle/ligament/joint, lower back, injuries within a month of reintroducing carbs to my diet (was injury-free for 3 years). I'm 56, 95% Carnivore, no medications and exercise at least 4x a week. No more carbs/sugars !
So true! You might also find Dr. Sally Norton's knowledge of plant defenses helpful. She explains how oxalates, can harm your body. Not all plants react the same in all people. However, some plants are low in plant defense mechanisms. I was a mind-shift for me to consider that some plants can harm the body.
I haven't had carbs or sugar for the vast majority of the last 8 months while working a construction job and I'm still kicking. My wife has gone 5 months and she feels great too.
I am 7 years without carbs from processed foods, obvious starches and the like. Keeping in mind all food has a degree of 'carbohydrate' even meat, but when it comes to carbs from the obvious like bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, grains, etc and all that type of stuff ... the body is a phenomenal machine in its function. So very glad I made the change it saved my life, extended my life for certain and offered me the choice to live better!

In terms of the fat, you are so right about our current meat-cutters. Last night I was preparing a couple of bone-in pork chops, and found myself dismayed. I memorized from some cookbook, nearly 50 years ago: “Start pork chops in a cold pan; pork will render out its own fat and cook in it.” Not these chops! The amount of fat was so minimal there was nothing to render! They almost scorched on a low-medium heat before I realized what was going on. To cook them through in my trusty cast-iron skillet, I would have had to incinerate them. So, despite the lateness of the hour, I had to preheat the oven and BAKE them (@ 325 F) for 20, 25 minutes in order to make them safe to eat. I grew up a little paranoid about pork, because my family owned a meat market, and my great-grandmother sternly warned me about parasites. I knew what trichinosis was before I could spell P-I-G. I mean, I was maybe 3, 4! I long for the days when pork could cook in its own fat.

Are you able to find fattier cuts locally? Another good, fatty cut is a pork Scotch fillet.I routinely cook (pan fry) pork with no added oil/fat, starting it on a lower heat, initially. Tonnes, as in way more than enough, of fat rends out. Best of luck ☺️!

How can that happen? Do they perhaps just eat too fast?

18:42 Muscles never run out of glycogen. Brain cells can become addicted to using sugar. Brain restricts body functions when detecting low supply. But brain can shift to burning fat. Can take 4-6 months to retrain/reprogram the entire system.

Absolutely the best conversation I've listened to for those of us who have figured out the medical institutions have failed us and we've turned to keto/carnivore. You've answered so many questions I've had in just over an hour. The only question I have is salt??? I've found if I eat at least 2000mg of salt a day I don't cramp, I'm carnivore and extremely active.
Look up the salt guy, forgot his name. There's some great info. "The Salt Fix" very cool. Do not restrict salt if you crave it. I'm on a salt kick to see if I can still drink coffee and not have ill effects. my hands are super dry and cracking, some times on or off coffee. Salty water isn't as salty as it used to taste. Carnivore or low carb helps you kick excess salt out and keep metabolism up. The range of salt and charts of cultures is very varied. Lustig showed the mortality chart and salt intake of cultures. optimal is somewhere from 1500-3000. it is not clear cut and depends on foods for sure. But way more is safe if it's doesn't taste salty to you.
Yes, don't restrict your salt. Salt has been demonized the same as cholesterol and saturated fat based on zero science. In fact, getting too little salt can create serious health issues. Dr Malcolm Kendrick, Zoe Harcombe (as the Dr. often mentions) and pretty much everyone I have come to respect for their scientific work agrees on this. 3 to 5 grams is generally the sweet spot for most people. Under 2 can be just as dangerous as too much. As Dr. Berry says, always salt to taste, your body will tell you what it needs. If you get dizzy standing up that's a great cue that you need more. If you do a search for "Dr. Berry salt" you'll find his videos cover all of this.

I work at an Amazon facility here in the states as a maintenance technician. I walk about 5 mi. a day and I push around a 300+ lb. toolbox. So I know I am getting ample exercise.
I remember the "calories in = calories out" from my physics class. That is a true equation ONLY in regard to steam-engines! When talking about human diet, or animal diet, then we deal with biochemistry. Humans, or mammals in general, are NOT steam-engines.

Same. I've been keto to almost carnivore for about a year and a half, and after quickly losing 6 lbs in the first few weeks I plateaued and have been stuck ever since. I had some improvement in some things, so I stuck with it, but never all the benefits I heard people talk about. A few weeks ago I started thinking I had the protein too high and fat too low, and heard about the stick of butter a day to increase the fat. I haven't weighed since starting it but am feeling a bit better already and am actually in real ketosis for the first time. This has really helped explain exactly what's been going on, and I'm really hoping to finally become fat adapted over the next couple of more months.

I suffer from stiffness and creaky ligaments as a result of high sugar consumption. Not anymore. I'm working desperately on going low carb, no added sugar in hope of repairing the damage. Cheering for you. You can do it. Many of us here were addicted to sugar for years. Early in keto, I discovered that the fake sugar in keto snacks triggered me to binge eat. I would literally eat until my stomach hurt and then told my self WTF is wrong with you? Once I actually stopped eating those snacks it made the difference. I eat jerky instead of sweet snacks now, or put a slice of cheese in a pan and cook it slowly until bubbly and then take it out with a spatula--or cook under the broiler on a piece of parchment paper. It gets crispy like a chip. On keto I ate celery with cream cheese a lot. It's so hard to give up sugar, but after you do you will realize it was an addiction. Treat it like an addiction.

OMG I'm so glad I came across this video. Now I know why I'm always hungry and never in ketosis on the carnivore diet, it's because I'm eating too much protein even though I eat a lot of fat. So I'm going to decrease the meat and increase the fat and see how it goes 😂
@@prestomattwine No it doesn't and that's not how you work it out when converting to a calorie value anyway which is what you base it on when eating carnivore. 1g of protein is equal to 4 calories. 1g of fat is equal to 9 calories.

the great thing about the information is that you realize you can be your own citizen scientist! do your experiment, check the outcome, adjust. It is empowering. Try going carnivore for a month, see what it does and know what to check. Go keto and see what happens, go high carb and see what happens.
That explanation of two groups fits with me, inflammation, Keto stopped my leg cramps I had for two years, lost weight but not considered overweight before and certainly not now

For me protein is absolutely needed to feel satisfied. I tried the very high fat version of carnivore and I'm hungry a lot. So I upped my protein and I feel good that way. For me 80/20 doesn't feel good. I'm glad to hear that I'm on track wjth this.
Listening to my body ALWAYS works for me. Regarding protein and fat, I typically crave fatty meat. Had duck breast for lunch and pork belly for dinner, but sometimes I will leave a little fat. I don't plan it, I can just tell when I've had enough because it's no longer appealing. The body is wise...
That is so interesting, Luann, and I am looking forward to the day when I, too, feel that confidence in the quantities of food I am eating. I have a question for Dr. Cywes, however, that I hope he or someone can & will answer: IF, as he says, when eating both protein and fat, the body basically tells us when we've eaten enough protein bcz we just can't make ourselves eat more, how can it be that many carnivores, who eat only one meal a day bcz they no longer feel hungry after that meal, end up eating way more protein than their body can handle, with much of it converted to glucose? Why do they need to break those quantities into multiple meals? Why doesn't THEIR hormone system just naturally stop them from eating more than they can handle at any time? Do they just eat too fast?

I'm quite thin and can't seem to get enough food at one sitting. If you don't get a response from the doctor, maybe ask Harry Serpanos on his fine channel. He has fewer subscribers and typically answers questions.

As for carnivores on OMAD, I have seen many, plus have seen many carnivore commenters say they are eating OMAD as well! I'm like you, however. Well, the opposite of thin, lol, but I can't eat and digest enough for my needs either in one meal. So I do 2MAD, which seems to be working well for me. I try to eat 3 meals, but am always satisfied for so long after my first meal that, by the time I'm hungry again, it's too late to fit in a third meal! So I just have a warm cup of broth for my last meal instead. Thanks again for the advice
@@cherylh4688 Interesting question. I think like learning anything, you get it wrong for a while before you get it right. Have you ever eaten so much your belly hurts? Thanksgiving dinner, maybe? Even if you are eating mostly protein, I think you can eat too much if you are not used to listening to satiety signals and are used to listening to emotional eating signals. It may take a while to learn.
@@cherylh4688 I think, many people are just so used to overriding satiety signals after decades of eating hyperpalatable foods (sweets, salty snacks, all that ultraprosessed crap), that it takes them a while to adjust. And some people just may have permanent issues with their satiety hormones, for whatever reason. I believe, I fall into that category. I can and will overeat on basically anything, if I let myself, even fatty meat. Not lean meat, admittedly. Faced with plain chicken breast without any added fat or spices even my body seems to draw a line and voluntarily stops before the pot is empty. But just adding plain butter and salt is enough for me, to start 'binging'. Not completely unreasonable amounts...but enough to not loose weight and maybe even gain. Or just feel uncomfortably stuffed, after the meal. I can also tell, that I get a blood sugar reaction from too much protein, because my body cranks up the thermostat and I literally have to take off my socks and such to not be uncomfortable. I'm not overweight or diabetic btw. But I've been on one 'diet' or another ever since I was a young teen and I've always been very physically active. I could stand to loose 10-15 pounds, though and I'll probably try a 'protein sparing modified fast' Maria Emmerich style for that. Which basically means, eating regular keto/carnivore to satiety one day and 'low carb, low fat, moderate protein' the next. To take advantage of the fact, that really just plain protein is the easiest to 'undereat' on. Edit: listened to the rest of the talk and I see, that Dr. Cywes does not believe, eating plain protein is a viable approach. I've seen quite a few women claim, that they were finally able to loose weight (without 'feeling hungry all the time') this way. When eating high protein + high fat just didn't work for them it that regard, because they would still overeat on calories in the end. Guess, you can only consider the different approaches and then try for yourself. One size does not fit all 😆
It's my understanding that the essential hormones in our body are typically delivered by the lymph system - which does not have a "pump" of its own, but depends upon muscle movement to move things through the system. This is an added reason why movement, in one form or another, is beneficial to our overall health.
It would be much appreciated and tremendously helpful if the video is divided into segments or chapters for each of the topics Dr Cywes has addressed. This would make it much easier to navigate, search or review the valuable information presented in such a long video.
Such a revolutionary concept to realize the brain is addicted to sugar and shuts down muscles to get its fix rather than the paradigm we are currently stuck in: muscles need sugar.

Mind blowing. Yes I’m looking forward to part 2. Yes I’m a recovering carbaholic now ketovore. All my meats are cooked in saturated animal fats usually beef tallow or rendered pork fat. Do no try to bend the spoon Neo…there is no spoon. There is no essential carbohydrate.
What I have found for me is to keep my ketones between one and three for optimal health. Occasionally like twice a year I'll do a fast and my ketones will go above three this is good for autophagy but if done for an extended period of time can also lead to muscle wasting. As with everything else in life, it's all about a good balance.

I do not need any science to know what is the right or the wrong diet. My daughter told me years ago and I did not listen, because who listens to a little girl... but lately my type 2 diabetes got a lot worse... like this I have just a few more years to live. I did everything my doctor told me, take my meds, eat normally (which is according to my doctor a diet high in carbs and low in saturated fat), exercise. He told me, not to worry, my pre-diabetes is WELL controlled he said. Maybe it is already a month ago... I said bullshit. I cannot walk a single flight of stairs without severe pain in my legs, I take 6 different medications, NOTHING is well controlled... I am dying. So I attempted to educate myself on the issue... I binge watched youtube... pure coincidence I watched a video which promotes KETO. It was highly scientific. Either the author is the best bullshit artist I have ever seen (it was Dr Lustig) or I am eating the wrong food all my life. Since everything I was doing apparently did not work, lets do the opposite... being fat and constantly in pain is no life anyway... might as well do an experiment which may or may not kill me a lot faster. I had my answer only a few days later, my blood sugar was down, lower than I had seen in years. So I also did the 18hr per day fasting, ate only fish, meat, eggs and cheese and I lost already 20 lbs and my blood sugar is hovering around 100 but it's a lot better than it was. Still a long way to go, but the gut is smaller too... and it has only been a month. Again, I do not need a degree in biochemistry or whatever, I believe what I see on my own body, but I still watch this video... it gives me ammo to shoot down all these charlatans who stole so many years of my life with false information. I really HATE my doctor now...
Dr. Cywes should be saying “glucagon”, not “glycogen” in multiple instances in this discussion. Glucagon is the analog to insulin. Glycogen is the stored form of glucose. 28:49 glucagon. 31:58 glucagon, not glycogen.
went on low carb diet when identified with type two diabetics four years ago. high fat med protein low sugar. 9.5 to 5.5 a12 in 3 months. no meds required. also lost 60 pounds and now ride 100 plus miles a week and am more flexible than ever.
I got to really investigate about food after being diagnosed with fatty liver. So pleased my doctor insisted on doing this fibroscan test. I’m now mostly carnivore. Now lost 12 kg / 26 lbs in the first 2 months.
Love Rob Cywes one thing I slightly disagree with is carbs are carbs all are equal. Glucose can be metabolized in the muscles brain red cells etc. All fructose has to go to the liver. If there is overload leads to a fatty liver leads to insulin resistance leads to obesity and diabetes. The Chinese were thin and healthy no diabetes on loads of rice. There are now 11% diabetics = 110 million. This is all due to refined starch addition. Sucrose = 1 glucose + 1 fructose. Please do something on this. Expert = Dr Lustig endocrinologist

Informative video! But was so geared toward athletes that it was difficult to tease out info pertinent to me. I am 65 year old female. Low carb/keto for 3 years, reversed T2, lost some weight to get to normal range. All the good stuff. Recently, like for the past 4 months, I have been experimenting with first lean protein, then BBBE (lots of fatty protein), then 80/20. My Hba1c has gone from 5.4 to 5.8 and my AM fasting numbers are 10-20 pts higher, and stay elevated all day! I am trying to figure out the best protocol to deal with this (Adaptive Glucose Sparing?). My take-away from this video is to try 20% daily cals in fatty protein (for me is 1 gram/1kg weight) - divided over 2-3 meals. I usually eat 2MAD 18:6 fasting, with an OMAD maybe 1 day a week. Minimal carbs, as usual. Start meal with fatty protein, even with a bit extra butter soluble fat to stimulate GLP-1 (insulin, satiety). I hope that the next video, and book in March, will focus on typical people and not athletes. Please let me know if I have understood this correctly.

Bro, I lost 125lbs over 2019-2021 using IF and low carb exercise everyday (walking 5 miles a day, weight training) . A1C 6.5 from a high of 11. Was doing well. Last October I was feel off IF and low carb over about a month's time. I have not been on coarse since then. Put on 50lbs over the last year. I'll get on IF for a week, then crash again. I'm a mental wreck. My addiction to the sugar/carbs is in full swing. Ok. I'm starting today. I ate breakfast (don't ask😄) I'll fast till tomorrow 3pm. Low carb forward. Thanks doc.
If I stray at all I crave like a crack addict for three days straight, It takes three days of strict carnivore to stop the cravings again hang in there you can do it.
42:02 "eat the fat that comes with the food" BIG PROBLEM! here in Aus everywhere I go to buy meat (beef) for roasting, the store butchers have cut away the natural layers of fat. We've seen this now, being done for about 18 months ... very annoying. We buy from supermarkets because it is cheaper than smaller boutique style butchers. It has become harder and harder to buy meat with all its natural fat left on! It is complete bullshit this idea that a protein's natural fat is detrimental to our health. How I wish I could knock some sense into these retailers!
So interesting… after a 44 hour fast I made a lovely plate of steak, bacon, egg & cheese. I guess it was about 90g of protein and same for fat. I got half way and felt done. 3 hours later I finished it. Looks 40-50g protein is my max for one sitting.

@@cherylh4688 I’ve always been fairly in tune with my body signals. I’ve learned to listen and pay attention to my body. But I was never really metabolically unhealthy. I lost about 20-25 lbs leaned out and limit sugary foods to the weekend and do a 24 hour fast at least once a week. Journaling helps. Write it all down, food, timing of your feast/fast windows, bowel habits, bloat gas or general malaise. When you look back you’ll be able to find your triggers or limits. Like I can do max 3/4 of cooked veg. 1/2 cup of salad. 4 donuts over the course of a whole day. But not more.

But to my surprise, after being carnivore for about 3 months, I had my first real dose of sugar recently - a delicious peach cobbler I insisted on sampling - only to find that while I handled the first half of a bowlful without a problem, when I finished the bowl an hour later, I got incredibly sick! So that was both disappointing AND reassuring, lol! But thank you so much for responding, and so quickly! Your advice is excellent and much appreciated. I can't say I'm any of those enviable things at this stage of my life, tho' I was once, in my 20s, before pregnancy, motherhood and fast food! (I'm 74 now, so I can remember the day I first heard of McDonald's, when there was only one, it sounded like a clever idea, and I was oh so curious to try it!) @@cherylh4688 OMG… this weekend I’m having Oreos & milk. I’m over the donuts. I don’t go nuts every Sunday. Usually one serving of a dessert is perfectly fine. For the eating enough aim for a range of 0.7 - 1 gram of protein per pound of your ideal weight. And make sure to get a minimum of 60g protein per day. I’m at 115 lbs now so I aim to get a min of 70g and see if I can get to 100g if I can. If you’re carnivore and not needing to balance carbs at all then you don’t have to worry about adding gobs of fat unless you’re eating lean like chicken breast, shrimp or tuna. Then you need to ensure to add enough fats. For steak just cook it in the fat of your choice add a pat of butter while it rests and you’re good.

But I'm just grateful that at this point, I can be almost as happy w a bite of butter, or at most, a little cup of sour cream or whipped cream and a sprinkle of Stevia or coconut sugar! As for the protein, while I'm still almost twice your weight, my "ideal" weight is not, and so I am striving for around 100g a day as well, split into two meals. Another indicator is how long you can go fasted and not feel any change or dips. I can't do it all the time. But every so often a two day fast. I've yet to to longer. I probably should to see. Two days no water and i felt nothing, no dips no mental or body fatigue. I exercised the usual 20-40 min, medium/low intensity. It felt as if i had eaten and drank water. no dry mouth, very weird. I mentioned it to a few people and they said, you can't do that. I said i'm here and well. This is how some can survive and some don't. Wim hoff marathon in the desert no water? that is enough proof it's a similar thing to how adapted you are.
The ketones thing is so true. I used to get a little dizzy if I hadn’t eaten for a bit. Thinking I’d like to go on a month fast or something and my body couldn’t even handle 5 hours. Now on carni, I don’t face dizziness and my body can already do, 1 meal comfortably every 22 hours, before I start getting hungry. Unfortunately I do at some point have to give up milk.
Jacqueline, I have mixed feelings about dairy too. Don’t know how I could eat even more meat, fish, and eggs, though to make up for not being able to eat cottage cheese and yogurt. I also eat cheese and a little milk in my steamed eggs. I get sick of eating meat and eggs and always working to get more protein on 2 meals a day.

Great podcast. Excellent point about how body regulates fullness and appetite way better with real food. 300g protein is about 1.2 kg of lean meat, about a 1.3 to 1.5 kg steak, 2.9-3.3 pounds depending on the amount of fat. 2100 to 3900 calories. Definitely something to spread out over at least two meals, and a few cats and dogs. lol I’m still into plants but only if high in fibre relative to carbs. Like what hunter gatherers would eat when they fail to find meat. Fermented plants like sauerkraut reduce sugars even further while retaining the fibre. Spoiled food basically. Freshly spoiled. I like the idea of high fibre on some low calorie days gatherer days, carnivore on feast days. Real meat, fish, milk, eggs are way better than protein shakes. Eat real food. Accept no substitutes.
Hey i got two questions for coach or dr cyris I kept hearing him say that when we’re keto or carnivore, our insulin is flat lined and we need to spike it with some sort of carbs to kinda wake it up every once in a while. I lost both of my parents in 2021, at 87, after the vax, but that's another story... but I understand your frustration. My dad had a heart attack in the 80's and went in for all the low fat eating that was what the medical was saying. 20 years of promise margarine and dry chicken. He got sicker and sicker. He took statins, BP but I did get him off of warfarin. I found a cardiologist who called it rat poison. Anyway, Dad mocked me when I tried to get him to eat more animal products and said, was I a doctor now? Doctors knew everything in his eyes. But he always liked steak so I made him steak when he came to visit. My mom was literally vegetarian, so no changing her mind. When Dad looked at the steak and said, but so much fat--I said live a little. You're 86 years old. If you don't want it, I'll wrap it and have it for lunch tomorrow my self. I did manage to convince him to eat eggs again. I took him studies that said eggs don't raise cholesterol. How did the appointment with Dr. C go?
Your mom’s constipation can be overcome by taking a tsp of MCT oil or olive oil at bedtime. But this is very individual. Maybe start with half a tsp. Can work up to a tablespoon gradually, but, watch out! When it comes, it will come quickly!
Is there a difference in satiety between olive oil, butter, coconut oil? Is limiting your salt intake recommendation just a way to sell more potato chips? If entering keto/carnivore increase your salt intake. Salt in your coffee. Salt in your water. Salt your food well. The transition will be much easier. You won't get hungry as fast if you are salting your fluids between meals when in k/c. Lack of salt will cause hunger. To much salt will cause thirst. My 2 cents to add to this jackpot of information.
Id like more info on the damage ive done to my body after 20 years of insulin shots in my belly. I wish i had been told to change my diet instead of being told my pancresae needed a break and then increasing insulin injects up to nearly 300 units over that time. Been nearly 0 carbs daily over the last 2 years but still hovering around 220 from 300. Doc finally tested my insulin and it was 14. Ben bikman says we should be 6 or lower. My last A1C in april this year was 6.5 after being 14 when i started zero carb woe. 20 plus years of insulin resistant and injecting more and more insulin, id like to hope i will one day have a waist under 48 inches
Karen Bole, Yes, that's true HbA1c 6.0 is good but try to get it to 5.6, it's better and means you're not diabetic, then you'd have to maintain your diet to stay at that marker. I wish you good luck on your health journey and God bless 🙏🌹

He is confirming what Dr. Barry Sears said 30 years ago when he wrote "the Zone". Recommended 5 meals a day, said you can't eat too much protein at once because liver will turn excess into glucose. The only thing is he thought meat should be lean and low fat and you add a few nuts and seeds for mono unsaturated fats so that cells can communicate with each other. If the info I saw is correct, then meat also has mono unsaturated fats, so hopefully, the meat will allow cells to communicate with each other too. I could never do one meal a day. Aajonus Vonderplaniz talks about eating every 2 hours if you are sick and trying heal.

I’m noticing that even though I’ve been doing IF for 16/8, keto and lift weights at home 4X a week, at 49 and in early menopause I’m gaining mid section and thigh weight. I even began to lessen my cardio but still I feel as though I’m climbing an uphill battle!
If you are lifting weights 4X a week, you will need to consume more protein, 1 gram for every pound of lean body weight. Also, if you are gaining unwanted weight, you should examine more closely the Total grams of carbs that you are consuming daily and reduce accordingly. There are tons of hidden sugars in processed foods as well. Make sure to read the labels on everything you buy at the grocery store. Try lengthening your fasting window to 18 or 20 hours.
I'm 76, very active, IF, and over 3 years have had to forgo all keto products first, then all home made keto baked goods and desserts, then fruits/nuts, finally vegs. Weight stall broken at last on carnivore 80% calories fat and 20% calories protein (less protein than I was eating on keto), no carb foods only incidentals from dairy. I was never able to do more fasting than about 16/8 due to frequent cravings, but fully satiated now on the 80/20 carnivore. God bless ❤️🙏❤️
I've tried explaining to others what the Carb Addition doctor talks about, but they hand wave and refuse to watch the videos. I haven't felt so healthy and good in more than a decade. My doctor is pleased also. Yet all people say to me is, _meh it'll come back to haunt you later_ like I can't trust either my own experience or the facts outlined by Dr. Cywes. Honestly, I'm done trying to convince people. I know what is working for me.

I'm post menopausal and been on Ketovore diet for about 5 months. Never went on hormones. Feeling awesome. Lipids went up, but I'm not going back on statins. Will take Niacin instead. Lost 30 lbs and 4" in the waist! Carnivore/ketovore definitely helps with hormones!

I'm 62 years old and started started a ketogenic program 4 months ago. I now weigh 170 lbs and when I wake in the morning I'm not groggy and my muscles and joints don't hurt anymore. As an avid tennis player, my game has improved mentally and physically. Recovery time is shorter and post exercise soreness is minimal. Glad to be on board with Dr. Cywes.
My neighbor is a smoker, wine and soda drinker. I was talking to her and her teen daughter this summer. Her daughter is a swimmer. The neighbor still smokes and drinks but her daughter just won her division in swimming and is going to state. She came over to thank me. She said she tried keto for a while and her skin was better, but she wasn't really sure it was keto. She went back to SAD. Her swim time dropped almost a full second. All she could think it was because of not eating sugar even though as a teen she really didn't feel a lot of physical difference.
I tell you this because if your children or grandchildren are in sports. Try keto/carnivore and time yourself and then go off of it and see if your time stays the same. Also, acne. The youth don't have the issues older folks have. That comes later, but you may be able to convince the young people in your life with lack of acne and better sport times.

So true! You might also find Dr. Sally Norton's knowledge of plant defenses helpful. She explains how oxalates, can harm your body. Not all plants react the same in all people. However, some plants are low in plant defense mechanisms. I was a mind-shift for me to consider that some plants can harm the body.

I haven't had carbs or sugar for the vast majority of the last 8 months while working a construction job and I'm still kicking. My wife has gone 5 months and she feels great too.

I am 7 years without carbs from processed foods, obvious starches and the like. Keeping in mind all food has a degree of 'carbohydrate' even meat, but when it comes to carbs from the obvious like bread, rice, pasta, potatoes, grains, etc and all that type of stuff ... the body is a phenomenal machine in its function. So very glad I made the change it saved my life, extended my life for certain and offered me the choice to live better!

In terms of the fat, you are so right about our current meat-cutters. Last night I was preparing a couple of bone-in pork chops, and found myself dismayed. I memorized from some cookbook, nearly 50 years ago: “Start pork chops in a cold pan; pork will render out its own fat and cook in it.” Not these chops! The amount of fat was so minimal there was nothing to render! They almost scorched on a low-medium heat before I realized what was going on. To cook them through in my trusty cast-iron skillet, I would have had to incinerate them. So, despite the lateness of the hour, I had to preheat the oven and BAKE them (@ 325 F) for 20, 25 minutes in order to make them safe to eat. I grew up a little paranoid about pork, because my family owned a meat market, and my great-grandmother sternly warned me about parasites. I knew what trichinosis was before I could spell P-I-G. I mean, I was maybe 3, 4!
I long for the days when pork could cook in its own fat.

Are you able to find fattier cuts locally? Another good, fatty cut is a pork Scotch fillet.I routinely cook (pan fry) pork with no added oil/fat, starting it on a lower heat, initially. Tonnes, as in way more than enough, of fat rends out. Best of luck ☺️!

If, as I think you said, our hormones will let us know when we've eaten enough but not too much protein & fat, by signalling fullness so much so that it's hard to eat more protein - so ideal protein intake is self-regulating, IOW - how does it happen that many carnivores, eating OMAD bcz they get so satiated at their first meal, still eat wayyy more protein than their body can handle at that one meal, so that the excess protein gets converted to glucose, then fat? How can that happen? Do they perhaps just eat too fast?

I went to the gym this morning and trained fasted , ate 140g of lean chicken breast and after I felt terrible compared to when I have 4 eggs after , thankyou again for all the information really helped me understand the human body

Absolutely the best conversation I've listened to for those of us who have figured out the medical institutions have failed us and we've turned to keto/carnivore. You've answered so many questions I've had in just over an hour. The only question I have is salt??? I've found if I eat at least 2000mg of salt a day I don't cramp, I'm carnivore and extremely active.
Look up the salt guy, forgot his name. There's some great info. "The Salt Fix" very cool.
Do not restrict salt if you crave it. I'm on a salt kick to see if I can still drink coffee and not have ill effects. my hands are super dry and cracking, some times on or off coffee. Salty water isn't as salty as it used to taste. Carnivore or low carb helps you kick excess salt out and keep metabolism up. The range of salt and charts of cultures is very varied. Lustig showed the mortality chart and salt intake of cultures. optimal is somewhere from 1500-3000. it is not clear cut and depends on foods for sure. But way more is safe if it's doesn't taste salty to you.

Yes, don't restrict your salt. Salt has been demonized the same as cholesterol and saturated fat based on zero science. In fact, getting too little salt can create serious health issues. Dr Malcolm Kendrick, Zoe Harcombe (as the Dr. often mentions) and pretty much everyone I have come to respect for their scientific work agrees on this. 3 to 5 grams is generally the sweet spot for most people. Under 2 can be just as dangerous as too much. As Dr. Berry says, always salt to taste, your body will tell you what it needs. If you get dizzy standing up that's a great cue that you need more. If you do a search for "Dr. Berry salt" you'll find his videos cover all of this.

Same. I've been keto to almost carnivore for about a year and a half, and after quickly losing 6 lbs in the first few weeks I plateaued and have been stuck ever since. I had some improvement in some things, so I stuck with it, but never all the benefits I heard people talk about. A few weeks ago I started thinking I had the protein too high and fat too low, and heard about the stick of butter a day to increase the fat. I haven't weighed since starting it but am feeling a bit better already and am actually in real ketosis for the first time. This has really helped explain exactly what's been going on, and I'm really hoping to finally become fat adapted over the next couple of more months.

I suffer from stiffness and creaky ligaments as a result of high sugar consumption. Not anymore. I'm working desperately on going low carb, no added sugar in hope of repairing the damage. Mind blowing, thank you. Hard to break the addiction but I'll do everything I can. Thank you so much.
Cheering for you. You can do it. Many of us here were addicted to sugar for years. Early in keto, I discovered that the fake sugar in keto snacks triggered me to binge eat. I would literally eat until my stomach hurt and then told my self WTF is wrong with you? Once I actually stopped eating those snacks it made the difference. I eat jerky instead of sweet snacks now, or put a slice of cheese in a pan and cook it slowly until bubbly and then take it out with a spatula--or cook under the broiler on a piece of parchment paper. It gets crispy like a chip. On keto I ate celery with cream cheese a lot. It's so hard to give up sugar, but after you do you will realize it was an addiction. Treat it like an addiction.

OMG I'm so glad I came across this video. Now I know why I'm always hungry and never in ketosis on the carnivore diet, it's because I'm eating too much protein even though I eat a lot of fat. So I'm going to decrease the meat and increase the fat and see how it goes 😂

@@prestomattwine No it doesn't and that's not how you work it out when converting to a calorie value anyway which is what you base it on when eating carnivore. 1g of protein is equal to 4 calories. 1g of fat is equal to 9 calories.

@@micaonyx5301 I always put a pat of butter on my ribeye, or eat it with some sardines for variety. Love bacon wrapped chicken. It's pretty much the only way I eat chicken these days.
the great thing about the information is that you realize you can be your own citizen scientist! do your experiment, check the outcome, adjust. It is empowering. Try going carnivore for a month, see what it does and know what to check. Go keto and see what happens, go high carb and see what happens.

I love both these guys.I removed carbs over 17 years ago, it’s the only thing that worked for me, past two years carnivorish, still use spices and rooibos, or chai tea and black coffee, splash of lemon/lime in my water
For me protein is absolutely needed to feel satisfied. I tried the very high fat version of carnivore and I'm hungry a lot. So I upped my protein and I feel good that way. For me 80/20 doesn't feel good. I'm glad to hear that I'm on track wjth this.

Listening to my body ALWAYS works for me. Regarding protein and fat, I typically crave fatty meat. Had duck breast for lunch and pork belly for dinner, but sometimes I will leave a little fat. I don't plan it, I can just tell when I've had enough because it's no longer appealing.

I have a question for Dr. Cywes, however, that I hope he or someone can & will answer: IF, as he says, when eating both protein and fat, the body basically tells us when we've eaten enough protein bcz we just can't make ourselves eat more, how can it be that many carnivores, who eat only one meal a day bcz they no longer feel hungry after that meal, end up eating way more protein than their body can handle, with much of it converted to glucose? Why do they need to break those quantities into multiple meals? Why doesn't THEIR hormone system just naturally stop them from eating more than they can handle at any time? Do they just eat too fast?
@@cherylh4688 I don't know how many carnivores do OMAD. That would be interesting to know. I've tried it but it doesn't really suit me. I'm quite thin and can't seem to get enough food at one sitting. If you don't get a response from the doctor, maybe ask Harry Serpanos on his fine channel. He has fewer subscribers and typically answers questions.

As for carnivores on OMAD, I have seen many, plus have seen many carnivore commenters say they are eating OMAD as well!
I'm like you, however. Well, the opposite of thin, lol, but I can't eat and digest enough for my needs either in one meal. So I do 2MAD, which seems to be working well for me.
I try to eat 3 meals, but am always satisfied for so long after my first meal that, by the time I'm hungry again, it's too late to fit in a third meal! So I just have a warm cup of broth for my last meal instead.

@@cherylh4688 Interesting question. I think like learning anything, you get it wrong for a while before you get it right. Have you ever eaten so much your belly hurts? Thanksgiving dinner, maybe? Even if you are eating mostly protein, I think you can eat too much if you are not used to listening to satiety signals and are used to listening to emotional eating signals. It may take a while to learn.

I think, many people are just so used to overriding satiety signals after decades of eating hyperpalatable foods (sweets, salty snacks, all that ultraprosessed crap), that it takes them a while to adjust. And some people just may have permanent issues with their satiety hormones, for whatever reason. I believe, I fall into that category. I can and will overeat on basically anything, if I let myself, even fatty meat. Not lean meat, admittedly. Faced with plain chicken breast without any added fat or spices even my body seems to draw a line and voluntarily stops before the pot is empty. But just adding plain butter and salt is enough for me, to start 'binging'. Not completely unreasonable amounts...but enough to not loose weight and maybe even gain. Or just feel uncomfortably stuffed, after the meal. I can also tell, that I get a blood sugar reaction from too much protein, because my body cranks up the thermostat and I literally have to take off my socks and such to not be uncomfortable.
I'm not overweight or diabetic btw. But I've been on one 'diet' or another ever since I was a young teen and I've always been very physically active. I could stand to loose 10-15 pounds, though and I'll probably try a 'protein sparing modified fast' Maria Emmerich style for that. Which basically means, eating regular keto/carnivore to satiety one day and 'low carb, low fat, moderate protein' the next. To take advantage of the fact, that really just plain protein is the easiest to 'undereat' on.
Edit: listened to the rest of the talk and I see, that Dr. Cywes does not believe, eating plain protein is a viable approach. I've seen quite a few women claim, that they were finally able to loose weight (without 'feeling hungry all the time') this way. When eating high protein + high fat just didn't work for them it that regard, because they would still overeat on calories in the end. Guess, you can only consider the different approaches and then try for yourself. One size does not fit all 😆
It's my understanding that the essential hormones in our body are typically delivered by the lymph system - which does not have a "pump" of its own, but depends upon muscle movement to move things through the system. This is an added reason why movement, in one form or another, is beneficial to our overall health.

What I have found for me is to keep my ketones between one and three for optimal health. Occasionally like twice a year I'll do a fast and my ketones will go above three this is good for autophagy but if done for an extended period of time can also lead to muscle wasting. As with everything else in life, it's all about a good balance.
We definitely need to dig deeper into this, and with a slower dialog so that it makes sense to all of us.

I do not need any science to know what is the right or the wrong diet. My daughter told me years ago and I did not listen, because who listens to a little girl... but
lately my type 2 diabetes got a lot worse... like this I have just a few more years to live. I did everything my doctor told me, take my meds, eat normally (which is according to my doctor a diet high in carbs and low in saturated fat), exercise. He told me, not to worry, my pre-diabetes is WELL controlled he said.
Maybe it is already a month ago... I said bullshit. I cannot walk a single flight of stairs without severe pain in my legs, I take 6 different medications, NOTHING is well controlled... I am dying.
So I attempted to educate myself on the issue... I binge watched youtube... pure coincidence I watched a video which promotes KETO. It was highly scientific. Either the author is the best bullshit artist I have ever seen (it was Dr Lustig) or I am eating the wrong food all my life.
Since everything I was doing apparently did not work, lets do the opposite... being fat and constantly in pain is no life anyway... might as well do an experiment which may or may not kill me a lot faster.
I had my answer only a few days later, my blood sugar was down, lower than I had seen in years. So I also did the 18hr per day fasting, ate only fish, meat, eggs and cheese and I lost already 20 lbs and my blood sugar is hovering around 100 but it's a lot better than it was. Still a long way to go, but the gut is smaller too... and it has only been a month.
Again, I do not need a degree in biochemistry or whatever, I believe what I see on my own body, but I still watch this video... it gives me ammo to shoot down all these charlatans who stole so many years of my life with false information. I really HATE my doctor now...

Love Rob Cywes one thing I slightly disagree with is carbs are carbs all are equal. Glucose can be metabolized in the muscles brain red cells etc. All fructose has to go to the liver. If there is overload leads to a fatty liver leads to insulin resistance leads to obesity and diabetes. The Chinese were thin and healthy no diabetes on loads of rice. There are now 11% diabetics = 110 million. This is all due to refined starch addition. Sucrose = 1 glucose + 1 fructose. Please do something on this. Expert = Dr Lustig endocrinologist

Informative video! But was so geared toward athletes that it was difficult to tease out info pertinent to me. I am 65 year old female. Low carb/keto for 3 years, reversed T2, lost some weight to get to normal range. All the good stuff. Recently, like for the past 4 months, I have been experimenting with first lean protein, then BBBE (lots of fatty protein), then 80/20. My Hba1c has gone from 5.4 to 5.8 and my AM fasting numbers are 10-20 pts higher, and stay elevated all day! I am trying to figure out the best protocol to deal with this (Adaptive Glucose Sparing?). My take-away from this video is to try 20% daily cals in fatty protein (for me is 1 gram/1kg weight) - divided over 2-3 meals. I usually eat 2MAD 18:6 fasting, with an OMAD maybe 1 day a week. Minimal carbs, as usual. Start meal with fatty protein, even with a bit extra butter soluble fat to stimulate GLP-1 (insulin, satiety). I hope that the next video, and book in March, will focus on typical people and not athletes. Please let me know if I have understood this correctly.
I understand. I too grow weary of athletic jocks and fitness trainers being interviewed. Many if not most of them have never struggled with obesity and true addiction.
Bro, I lost 125lbs over 2019-2021 using IF and low carb exercise everyday (walking 5 miles a day, weight training) . A1C 6.5 from a high of 11. Was doing well. Last October I was feel off IF and low carb over about a month's time.
I have not been on coarse since then. Put on 50lbs over the last year. I'll get on IF for a week, then crash again. I'm a mental wreck. My addiction to the sugar/carbs is in full swing.
Ok. I'm starting today. I ate breakfast (don't ask😄) I'll fast till tomorrow 3pm. Low carb forward.

BIG PROBLEM! here in Aus everywhere I go to buy meat (beef) for roasting, the store butchers have cut away the natural layers of fat. We've seen this now, being done for about 18 months ... very annoying. We buy from supermarkets because it is cheaper than smaller boutique style butchers. It has become harder and harder to buy meat with all its natural fat left on!
It is complete bullshit this idea that a protein's natural fat is detrimental to our health. How I wish I could knock some sense into these retailers!
Ask the butchers to save you a bag of the fat trimmings.
Preorder and tell them exactly what you want!!!!

So interesting… after a 44 hour fast I made a lovely plate of steak, bacon, egg & cheese. I guess it was about 90g of protein and same for fat. I got half way and felt done. 3 hours later I finished it. Looks 40-50g protein is my max for one sitting.
I love hearing this, Sylvie! It gives me hope I can trust my body to do the same.
But then I wonder why some carnivores, on OMAD bcz they just aren't hungry anymore after their meal, as he said, still eat wayyy more protein than they can process at that meal, even including fat, and see their trig's, blood glucose, etc rising bc that excess protein is being converted to glucose. I wonder why THEIR hormones didn't stop them from eating too much at that meal. Confusing.
@@cherylh4688 I’ve always been fairly in tune with my body signals. I’ve learned to listen and pay attention to my body. But I was never really metabolically unhealthy. I lost about 20-25 lbs leaned out and limit sugary foods to the weekend and do a 24 hour fast at least once a week. Journaling helps. Write it all down, food, timing of your feast/fast windows, bowel habits, bloat gas or general malaise. When you look back you’ll be able to find your triggers or limits. Like I can do max 3/4 of cooked veg. 1/2 cup of salad. 4 donuts over the course of a whole day. But not more.

But to my surprise, after being carnivore for about 3 months, I had my first real dose of sugar recently - a delicious peach cobbler I insisted on sampling - only to find that while I handled the first half of a bowlful without a problem, when I finished the bowl an hour later, I got incredibly sick! So that was both disappointing AND reassuring, lol!
But thank you so much for responding, and so quickly! Your advice is excellent and much appreciated. I can't say I'm any of those enviable things at this stage of my life, tho' I was once, in my 20s, before pregnancy, motherhood and fast food! (I'm 74 now, so I can remember the day I first heard of McDonald's, when there was only one, it sounded like a clever idea, and I was oh so curious to try it!)
I will definitely take your advice, Sylvie, altho' I am getting better at recognizing satiety now; it's undereating that still trips me up bcz I am still figuring out what my optimum protein & fat intake is. But I think I am getting closer!

@@cherylh4688 OMG… this weekend I’m having Oreos & milk. I’m over the donuts. I don’t go nuts every Sunday. Usually one serving of a dessert is perfectly fine. For the eating enough aim for a range of 0.7 - 1 gram of protein per pound of your ideal weight. And make sure to get a minimum of 60g protein per day. I’m at 115 lbs now so I aim to get a min of 70g and see if I can get to 100g if I can. If you’re carnivore and not needing to balance carbs at all then you don’t have to worry about adding gobs of fat unless you’re eating lean like chicken breast, shrimp or tuna. Then you need to ensure to add enough fats. For steak just cook it in the fat of your choice add a pat of butter while it rests and you’re good.

But I'm just grateful that at this point, I can be almost as happy w a bite of butter, or at most, a little cup of sour cream or whipped cream and a sprinkle of Stevia or coconut sugar! As for the protein, while I'm still almost twice your weight, my "ideal" weight is not, and so I am striving for around 100g a day as well, split into two meals. That's basically just a pound of meat and about 3-4 eggs, but it's still a challenge for me on some days too. I WILL follow your suggestion, tho', & make sure not to let it drop below 60g. Some day when I have fully healed my gut & it's consequences, cured my carb addiction, and lost my excess weight, I may introduce one treat each week as well, just for the fun of again sampling new things. But for now I am focused on curing myself of arthritis, histamine and other food intolerances, as well as on muscle loss! And I'm happy to report that as of today, my arthritis pain is nearly gone & my muscle tone has definitely improved!

Another indicator is how long you can go fasted and not feel any change or dips. I can't do it all the time. But every so often a two day fast. I've yet to to longer. I probably should to see. Two days no water and i felt nothing, no dips no mental or body fatigue. I exercised the usual 20-40 min, medium/low intensity. It felt as if i had eaten and drank water. no dry mouth, very weird. I mentioned it to a few people and they said, you can't do that. I said i'm here and well. This is how some can survive and some don't. Wim hoff marathon in the desert no water? that is enough proof it's a similar thing to how adapted you are.
The ketones thing is so true. I used to get a little dizzy if I hadn’t eaten for a bit. Thinking I’d like to go on a month fast or something and my body couldn’t even handle 5 hours. Now on carni, I don’t face dizziness and my body can already do, 1 meal comfortably every 22 hours, before I start getting hungry.
Unfortunately I do at some point have to give up milk.
Jacqueline, I have mixed feelings about dairy too. Don’t know how I could eat even more meat, fish, and eggs, though to make up for not being able to eat cottage cheese and yogurt. I also eat cheese and a little milk in my steamed eggs. I get sick of eating meat and eggs and always working to get more protein on 2 meals a day.
@@bonnieo8 Oooh make just you mix your meats. I'm actually becoming addicted to this way of eating and very much not bored. Add eggs in the meat. TREAT yourself to cheddar cheese, don't make it a habit (not sure how natural cottage is, never liked it)

adequate (and natural fats) are definitely key to satiety, which is what most people have been bred to fear growing up in the 60s .. 70s, then 80s. the true curve of busted hypothetical thinking going back to early 1961.

300g protein is about 1.2 kg of lean meat, about a 1.3 to 1.5 kg steak, 2.9-3.3 pounds depending on the amount of fat. 2100 to 3900 calories. Definitely something to spread out over at least two meals, and a few cats and dogs. lol
I’m still into plants but only if high in fibre relative to carbs. Like what hunter gatherers would eat when they fail to find meat. Fermented plants like sauerkraut reduce sugars even further while retaining the fibre. Spoiled food basically. Freshly spoiled. I like the idea of high fibre on some low calorie days gatherer days, carnivore on feast days.
Real meat, fish, milk, eggs are way better than protein shakes.
Eat real food. Accept no substitutes.

Dr. Cywes! Fantastic interview! My 70 yo dad is on statins, BP meds, and blood thinners. He also has a pacemaker. Is it possible to get him off all those meds? I want him around forever! I know, selfish! He just retired and I want him to be happy and healthy. Currently he’s a bit low energy and likely low T. My mom thinks spinach and low fat is the way to health. She’s constantly chronically constipated. How do we break the brainwashing? lol 😢 also, do you have a Spanish speaker on your staff? It’s their primary language! I lost both of my parents in 2021, at 87, after the vax, but that's another story... but I understand your frustration.
My dad had a heart attack in the 80's and went in for all the low fat eating that was what the medical was saying. 20 years of promise margarine and dry chicken. He got sicker and sicker. He took statins, BP but I did get him off of warfarin. I found a cardiologist who called it rat poison.
Anyway, Dad mocked me when I tried to get him to eat more animal products and said, was I a doctor now? Doctors knew everything in his eyes. But he always liked steak so I made him steak when he came to visit. My mom was literally vegetarian, so no changing her mind. When Dad looked at the steak and said, but so much fat--I said live a little. You're 86 years old. If you don't want it, I'll wrap it and have it for lunch tomorrow my self. I did manage to convince him to eat eggs again. I took him studies that said eggs don't raise cholesterol. How did the appointment with Dr. C go?
Your mom’s constipation can be overcome by taking a tsp of MCT oil or olive oil at bedtime. But this is very individual. Maybe start with half a tsp. Can work up to a tablespoon gradually, but, watch out! When it comes, it will come quickly!
Is there a difference in satiety between olive oil, butter, coconut oil? Is limiting your salt intake recommendation just a way to sell more potato chips? If entering keto/carnivore increase your salt intake. Salt in your coffee. Salt in your water. Salt your food well. The transition will be much easier. You won't get hungry as fast if you are salting your fluids between meals when in k/c. Lack of salt will cause hunger. To much salt will cause thirst. My 2 cents to add to this jackpot of information.

Id like more info on the damage ive done to my body after 20 years of insulin shots in my belly. I wish i had been told to change my diet instead of being told my pancresae needed a break and then increasing insulin injects up to nearly 300 units over that time. Been nearly 0 carbs daily over the last 2 years but still hovering around 220 from 300. Doc finally tested my insulin and it was 14. Ben bikman says we should be 6 or lower. My last A1C in april this year was 6.5 after being 14 when i started zero carb woe.

A1C should be 5.7 or less.

Have you tried intermittent fasting, and some short fasts (24 to 48 hrs)? That might help.

Yes, that's true HbA1c 6.0 is good but try to get it to 5.6, it's better and means you're not diabetic, then you'd have to maintain your diet to stay at that marker. I wish you good luck on your health journey and God bless 🙏🌹

He is confirming what Dr. Barry Sears said 30 years ago when he wrote "the Zone". Recommended 5 meals a day, said you can't eat too much protein at once because liver will turn excess into glucose. The only thing is he thought meat should be lean and low fat and you add a few nuts and seeds for mono unsaturated fats so that cells can communicate with each other. If the info I saw is correct, then meat also has mono unsaturated fats, so hopefully, the meat will allow cells to communicate with each other too.
I could never do one meal a day.

Then you will spike insulin every 2 hours, surely.
I think the information is very very different. Sears promoted grazing, low fat. Not the same at all.

Eat a few nuts and seeds for fats, even just 1 macadamia nut with a meal, eat 5 times a day, that is ” grazing ”, leaner meats. Yes, that is what I meant.

As a strict Carnivore 5'4" tall female who eats at least 100 g protein and 100 g fat, I'm testing a bit low on total protein. Do I need to supplement.with amino acids to better absorb protein OR is my protein and fat ratio off and too much of my protein is converting to sugar? I've lost 244 lbs so far but still have maybe 40 to go. A!C 4.2

I’m noticing that even though I’ve been doing IF for 16/8, keto and lift weights at home 4X a week, at 49 and in early menopause I’m gaining mid section and thigh weight. I even began to lessen my cardio but still I feel as though I’m climbing an uphill battle!
Oh and I brought my protein up to 46g last week….😉
You may find more protein is helpful and a shorter window.
If you are lifting weights 4X a week, you will need to consume more protein, 1 gram for every pound of lean body weight. Also, if you are gaining unwanted weight, you should examine more closely the Total grams of carbs that you are consuming daily and reduce accordingly. There are tons of hidden sugars in processed foods as well. Make sure to read the labels on everything you buy at the grocery store. Try lengthening your fasting window to 18 or 20 hours.
I'm 76, very active, IF, and over 3 years have had to forgo all keto products first, then all home made keto baked goods and desserts, then fruits/nuts, finally vegs. Weight stall broken at last on carnivore 80% calories fat and 20% calories protein (less protein than I was eating on keto), no carb foods only incidentals from dairy. I was never able to do more fasting than about 16/8 due to frequent cravings, but fully satiated now on the 80/20 carnivore. God bless ❤️🙏❤️
