48 hrs. without heat or electric. In 40 mph plus winds of snow. It was as low as 30 degrees with kids in layers. Trying to save pets and contemplating it was a holiday. Just thankful to be alive. 💙 from Lovejoy NY

This storm was more like the 60s, not the 70s
feels like something catastrophic happens once a week these days. my heart is with the people of Buffalo & everywhere affected by this mess
I've given CPR for 5-7mins... and can't imagine giving someone air for 2 days.
Just those 5-7mins was exhausting (I was freaking out a bit tbh) eventually the paramedics showed up.
If they both weren't there, they probably wouldn't have made it... that story is so crazy! Hope there are bo side effects from being off the ventilator
Bagging isn't even close to cpr. They just squeeze the air bag, not to discount that they did it for 2 days, but it's much easier to do.
During code blues I couldn’t wait for someone else’s turn. Chest compressions are difficult.
I feel for the parents of that little one who needed a ventilator. They deserve so much credit for their strength and determination to keep him alive. It proves how strong a parents' love can be. I'm so glad this had a happy ending.
Thank the Lord that precious baby is OK. He and his family have been on my mind since I first saw this. Prayers to all still suffering; you are all on my mind and heart.

THOSE ARE REAL PARENTS RIGHT THERE! No matter what happens from here on out they have full trust and bond as the 3 of them will tell this story for generations to come. The storm of 2022 where me and your father stayed awake 48 hours keeping our baby boy alive. I hope the kid grows up to cure cancer or something incredible or has children of his own and just think how it all couldn’t happen without unconditional love.
I helped my now wife out of a drift in the big blizzard. Great time to be alive. Now as then some ppl don,t make it. Unfortunate but it happens. Prayers for the souls lost.

I old literally put myself in the firing line to save my kids if it means they survive a storm I will do my utmost to get them to safety, I'm in scotland fife and its one degrees here been snowing on and off, I don't love the snow as much as I did when I was a kid lol got two children of my own to protect, mother nature is pissed off all these volcanos going off uts either to hot or too cold, gotta find a balance ??

@@carla-tg1qp I choose a volcanic island. I've lived in extreme cold and 114° in Tucson. When you have to adjust your life and pay to survive the weather you're using less mental capacity than a flock of geese.
Humans aren't the smartest animals on the planet, they just happen to have hands.
We are the only species that destroys our own habitat.
Mother Nature is sweet in Paradise. 80° all year round doen't get boring for me. When it rarely dips into the 60s I remember what I escaped from in my youth. Lucky I made my first trip to these islands when I was in my teens so my frame of remefence while traveling rhrough all the other states and other countries, it was always in comparrison to paradise.
Now my ancestors are from da fife shire some 14 generations ago. Escaping that church/state thing. They were explorers and pioneers. Always moving West. I'm 4th gen San Franciscan and had to follow my ancestors lead.
When I saw the rest of the country moving into Calif. for the dot.com gold rush I went West for the last time.
How -blessed- -lucky- smart I was to choose the best spot of all the places I've traveled to over 25 years to put down roots.
In DEEP DANK volcanic mango dirt and unlimited water with a 365 day a year growing season.

I’m glad that I am older and not many years left. I grew up in the country at a different time and for that I am forever grateful. Society is breaking down. Weather is getting worse. I’m grateful that the infant survived. Retired medical here. You always need a backup for electrical.

In addition to the cold, the snow drifts are very dangerous, they are very compact, so even plow trucks have difficulty with them

Prayers to the people of Buffalo, NY. Thankfully those parents with the help of that team from Nicaragua Falls we're able to get their baby to safety. If you have BREATH thank God, because many have loss their lives doing something as simple as traveling or staying in their homes; not expecting this storm to come and wreck havoc.
In Saint Louis, we got some of this bad weather, but it melted and left. We all are praying for her and her family,, and everyone that got this bad weather. Glad the baby is doing well now.

In Nova Scotia we live for months each winter with just that kind of conditions. AND our winds knock down trees constantly that then tears all of the electric wires or knocks out the sources for power. We are mostly a rural province so no public transportation etc & not easy to get out of cold homes to take ourselves to safety. Almost dark now at 5pm. Been alone for weeks now in my own home but thankfully only had 1 outage in that time.
The sad thing is most modern homes here in the states do not have fireplaces. If you don’t have a generator like most don’t you pray that you make it through the storm.
There’s a reason nobody want to live there.

If you lived through the blizzard of '77 you'd know that this was not even close to being that severe.
I remember in '77, my father climbed out the second floor window onto the porch roof and walked down the snow that completely engulfed the entire first 10' of our house. My neighbor didn't "shovel" his driveway, he dug a tunnel to his car and we clambered over the top of the tunnel, which was still so thick that it held our weight. This storm, is nothing compared to that.

I've lived in Buffalo for every winter storm including 1977. This was not just another winter storm. More people died in this storm than in 77 and that's with us having better equipment

Ohh believe me it was bad!! imma trucker I delivered a load there today. The interstates were all shut down. Side streets piled with snow. 1 lane avenues, cars everywhere people walking around like an apocalypse movie. Yup I managed to escape this shutdown city hours ago. Boy was it hard! I had to take back streets to get out of here. I thank the lord Jesus for saving me. I got stuck I prayed to him then I get unstuck. Man everyone else who was driving got stuck and wiped out. I’m probably one of the few who got in and out in that city in 1 piece Crazy day!

@@skynight4620 Every 5/7 yrs we get slammed with the historic snow storms. I played in the 77 blizzard. Growing up made it more real. Now I have to move the snow and it sucks. Guess the old man was right. Wait till you have to move it. OH, the weather outside is frightful so go have some babies. Storms are great for population growth.
Not true in the winter 2020 we hardly had snow. I know this because I was able to get a new roof and siding to my house in Buffalo. This storm blew 8 feet of snow on my porch and front yard. My daughter is barricaded because of snow and she can't get out yet. This was an insane blizzard. I went out today with my sons and great neighbors. We got through about 3 feet of snow. Heading to my daughter tomorrow if the ban is lifted.

Blizzard of 77 I was 4 years old an lived in Queen NY. It's crazy. Igloos where dug out with coffee can into bucket into bath tubs ab toilets.

In contrast, here in Portugal, on the other side of the Atlantic, in Europe, we are experiencing one of the mildest autumns/winters ever. Very rainy and very mild. Temperatures hovering around 14ºC and 23ºC in the Algarve. Continuing like this, we will have a January/February 2023, very mild for winter.

Tahoe gets this much snow nearly every winter 2-3 times, plows and shovels ALL THE SNOW in a mountain climate. seems Buffalo needs to invest in more snow removal equipment.

The 1 of 2 storms we had this yr 2024 was two days after my birthday and i should've used better judgment but i picked my son up for his weekend stay and he almost got blown out my arm and it scared the life out of me, worse part it almost blew me off my feet and i weigh 170, my son is 6 and he may be 50, the storm almost took my baby from me
