@@Falcun21 Watching both is an option and a wonderful solution. Seen both many times, but I favor Nay Nay. The orca segment, and the build up to it, when he yells "Let him go, he's just a baby" is sheer comedic perfection with the hand gestures at his sides.
Absolutely loved Mr Pinette. His Chinese buffet stories still make me laugh. Gluten allergies have been around forever, I was taught how to cook to avoid it. I was raised with Italians but couldn't eat pasta. Beer was off limits, so I just did not partake in alcohol. I am the ultimate designated driver. I didn't complain. I adjusted. Then, in the early 2000s, the younger generations boo-hooed about their food struggles (and so many other things), and gluten-free was everywhere and double the price.
The boat he talked about was a kayak not a canoe. And Pinette was always a fantastic comedian, his style was just so good. Whenever you need a cheering up, watch some John Pinette.
@Bren3669 "I lost 100 pounds and everyone said 'I can really see it in your face.' How big was my head? Apparently I had a face the size of a manhole cover and no one brought it up."
I'm from Ottawa. We have a canal that flows through a part of the downtown core of the city. They drain it in the fall a little. And yes, it freezes over and we skate on it. The water is not that deep, so nothing to be scared of. Beavertails are sugary deliciousness that is to die for. trust me. lol.
My brother and I grew up on a large lot that backed up to a creek. Every winter when that creek froze we were out there with our skates. We spent the whole day skating. We skated behind an older church that my dad bought. We had the key and there was a gas heater in the back. So we would skate as long as we could and come in and get warm. Great fun.
Pinterest was a great comedian and pretty clean as far as jokes go. That’s unusual in comedy and not the easiest thing to do. I still think his water park set is still my favorite bit that he did.
He was a great comedian. Another one we lost too soon. Check out Chinese Buffet, Italian Food, Get Out of the Line, Water Park, Indian Food, Nay Nay. All comedy gold.
You're fine skating on rivers and lakes up here, ice is real thick. I had my truck on the lake this past January. But to be fair we were still getting steady snow into May lol
He was a great comedian, and we lost him too soon. So many good sets, he knew how to do a seamless callback, and he was also an actor, both in films and on Broadway. He was more than just a comedian. Like Cedric, he was an entertainer.
I do hope you continue with John's comedy, it really is second to none. You should start at the beginning with his bit "Around the world in 80 buffets". It really lets you know where his roots in comedy are.
John Pinette has done some of the funniest comedy shows ever done. Just watch them, whether you react to them or not, treat yourself. Arguably the best comic delivery of any comedian, the non-stop laughing will make your stomach hurt.
I miss him. He never failed to leave me unable to breathe. 😆 I remember there being some people who had gluten issues. But it did seem to pop up like a trend.
Thank you so much for getting back around to more John Pinette. Hope you'll do a few more in the coming weeks or months. John has another bit about a store clerk trying to sell him a warranty that's hysterical.
Met him at one of his smaller shows at a community college nearby. We were walking in and he was outside the back of the auditorium. We said "Hey John" and he immediately invited us over to say hello and some brief small talk. Was really cool. Very down to earth person. R.I.P. John. We all loved ya!!!!
I was hoping he was going to say, "beaver tails!" when he asked, "Do you know what has gluten?" I would have died!!! Although "Everything!" was a good one too.🤣🤣🤣 But, I swear my sister must have been one of the first people diagnosed with Celiac disease (gluten allergy) back in '73 when she was 4yrs old. No one had heard of it before. And can you imagine how hard it was to prepare gluten free meals? My sister didn't have birthday cakes, she had birthday trays of rice krispy treats. I remember waking up in the middle of the night and finding her in the kitchen raiding the bread drawer. I never told on her because I felt bad for her and her cravings for grain flour products. And she would pay Holy Hell the next day with the reactions from it. She loves to bake and one of her first jobs was at Pizza Hut. I don't know how she survived it. At first it would just affect her stomach and mood. But in her older age she has had tracheal swelling and if she even has gluten contained flour get on her skin she swells and rashes. She still bakes but wears a mask and gloves while doing it and showers right after. She carries an EPIPEN with her all the time.
The "river" he is talking about is the Rideau (Ree Dough) Canal. The Canal is drained to about 1ft of water in winter and they freeze that. So even if it breaks (which they dont let you skate on when the ice isnt safe) you would be only in mid shin water
The "river" he is talking about is the Rideau Canal. And they lower it in the winter, so you are skating on maybe a couple of feet of water and it is about 26 feet wide. There is a whole crew of people who care for and maintain the ice. The ice has to be a foot thick before they let skaters on. This particular body of water is about as safe as you get for skating.
Oh, Britt you are missing a great experience. But then I'm Canadian and grew up doing that. Skating on the Rideau Canal in Ottawa is incredible. I've only done it once, but it was a great experience.
A fresh fried Beaver Tail is the only way to go. It's gotta be straight out of the fryer. The toppings go on while it's hot. Yes, totally unhealthy but to die for! Just don't eat them all the time, a once in the while treat. Edit: And yes this gluten thing came out of nowhere and is indeed modern day thing. From kid to early adult gluten allergies where unheard of for me, the same goes for peanut and nut allergies. There where no kids in school with peanut allergies when I went to school.
His stand up "I say Nay Nay" was one of the funniest shows I've ever seen by him..
His comedy special, "I'm Starvin'" is even better.

John Pinette goes to an Italian restaurant is a game stopper!
Yeees!
Pass that over here. I always eat when I'm sad.
Pass that over here. I always eat when I'm sad.
That's a good one, but the turnip story nearly kills me due to laughing so hard and so much that I can't breathe.
My mom is Italian and not really into stand up, but I showed her that bit and she cried laughing and started looking up all his stuff
There's not a bad Pinette routine, I recommend that rabbit hole.
This man lives in my head since the 90s.
"YOU BEEN HERE 4 OWWA! YOU GO NOW!"
My wife is Chinese and that bit had her dying. "YOU GO NOW!" She could barely breathe.
"Bigga boa, you come heah!"
One of my favorites. You will love his bit on buffets. RiP
Agreed!
One of my favorite comedians. Thank you for this reaction.

He has many more bits that I'm sure you would enjoy.
Thank you for this.
For the record there are physical locations to buy beaver tails. I believe the chain even has locations in the US.
Saw John in Ottawa and he was hilarious. RIP
I so love this routine. Thx Britt!!

Actually it's a canal that is 7 km long that you skate on through the city. They lower water level before temperatures go below freezing.
I bought a thermometer at Menards for $1.99 which offered an extended warranty for $5.00. I passed.
One of my favorite comedians ever. He's hilarious and a great story teller.

When a comedian brings back a joke into another one it's called a call back. It's classic professional comedy tactic.

You should do the one where he get's a personal trainer "I don't do up's, up's defies gravity, gravity is a law, I obey the law". fucking classic.
Listen to the stories where John goes skiing and goes camping.... "My family took me on vacations to see what happens to me." RIP John.
You got to watch the one that's nae nae that he does lmao, rest in peace John Pinette
The donut shops might have a beaver tail. In the south they might call it a "CRISPY"!
i got nervous when she googled beaver tails, but she probably has safe search on. no problem.
R.I.P. John Pinette 1964 - 2014.
This was one of the funniest sets any comedian has ever done. His rage is only matched by the early Bill Burr.
Yup, anytime I'm at the airport I make it a point to go to the check in counter just to make them work.

His France Vs Italy bit was my favorite. Check it out if you haven't.
Years ago, some stores would ask for name and address to be put in the system. Kmart used to do that,
We used to drive out on the ice and park our truck while ice fishing
he has a much better version of the warranty joke, someone probably knows the name of that bit, but that is a good one too.
You go now. one of his best jokes
RIP john, such a funny man, gone too soon
R.I.P. John. 🙏
