  • In the deepest part of you, have you ever longed for the experience of raising a daughter? Or dreamt about what it would feel like to have a little boy about the place? There’s a reason thoughts of having a baby of a particular biological sex are shrouded in secrecy, self judgement and a profound shame. “Gender” disappointment is a real term with an unfortunate name (we all know there is a fundamental difference between sex and gender) today on The Mother Daze we dive into this taboo subject with microbiology, immunology & molecular genetics expert and author of The Babydust Method, Kathryn Taylor.
Kathryn breaks down her methods to dramatically increase your chances of conceiving the sex of your choice, based on the latest and greatest scientific research. We also unravel the intricate discussion on this matter, recognizing the damage that gender stereotyping has but also recognizing that grieving the idealized child is still a conversation worth having.

Another factor that is rarely talked about that doesn’t have to do with biological sex preference- is shaming pregnant women. I remember being pregnant with my third, and I said something on my fb page about my huge swollen feet and achy back after a long day at work. I had a friend say I shouldn’t complain about anything pregnancy related because I was so blessed to be pregnant with a healthy baby. It really hurt my feelings, so much so that it stings when I think about it 10 years later. It is possible to be grateful for my pregnancy, but also voice how hard it can be carrying a baby in your body.

We had three boys and then I loosely followed a timing and frequency method just based on some random articles I came across online. But it does sound like we came close to doing the baby dust method because for our fourth pregnancy we only did it once further from ovulation- and we got a girl! Of course I would have been thrilled with another little boy- but it’s so fun having a girl too. She is also the only granddaughter on both sides of the family and is now 6 years old :)

Great podcast episode!😊 im trying for a baby now, going on the 4th month trying, and it would be great to have a full episode on conception. I have started with all tracking (meaning ovulation sticks and all of that) and until now nothing. Everyone around me advised me to not track anything and let it go, but still dont know if thats the best approach. So yeah, it would be great to know your experience and the best method for conceiving naturally. Thank you!!❤

LOL my girl was an one-off sha-bang while I was visiting my home country. The craziest part - I was on my cycle day 40!!

I have three little boys and I would love another BOY. I mean I would be so happy with a girl but another boy to add to the pack would just be so wonderful! I'm looking forward to getting the book! Thank you for this podcast! It was such a fun listen first thing in the morning.

With my second pregnancy I wanted a girl. I had a classical cesarean it took a long time to recover with my first boy child. I really wanted a girl with my second child. I found out I was going to have another boy. I was depressed I dreaded having another classical cesarean. I was depressed for about four months before my second birth. I was depressed for at least a month after my son was born. I think breastfeeding helped me out of depression. I still remember breastfeeding him and see his little eyes looking up at me to this day forty two years later. Sixteen months later I had my baby girl.
