Jesus had not been told by the Father(Holy Spirit) to go yet but he went immediately after he was told.

"My hour is not yet come" - same as John 2:4 at the wedding feast. YET! Jesus took action after each of those statements. Clearly, there is Divine meaning beyond our full understanding.
There is much to ponder in this. The Archangel Raphael in Tobit 12 states: "For it is good to hide the secret of a king: but honourable to reveal and confess the works of God."
Jesus, being both King and God, and the Word which cuts between soul and the spirit (Hebrews 4:12) pierces through this apparent conundrum with ease.
As to the NIV, there is a Protestant scholar who states that the NIV is so blurred that the mind of Paul cannot be known by reading the NIV. Dr. David Anders, on his EWTN radio show "Called To Communion" has named the scholar on his show.

Bro the ESV is wrong too! It says the same thing as the NIV. The KJV got it right.

@ you are correct the KJV does have the yet. either way it doesn’t need to be there. God thorough His Word explains it.
In my studies I reference KJV sometimes but I find the ESV more accurate to the actual Greek translation.
Seeing as the new testament was preserved in Greek only not Hebrew.
The KJV was written from a Hebrew translation which is more limited on translational meaning.

@ I don’t believe the ESV is wrong. I don’t believe he said “yet”.
I believe it was showing Jesus following the guidance of the Father against Jesus fleshy will.
The only reason I know for sure is I prayed for understanding on this verse. I thought what others thought, but I knew through faith God would never lie.
A couple weeks later I returned to John 7 and got a revelation from the Spirit of truth.
It was to show Jesus had a fleshy will. Not wanting to go like he told His brothers and he had not received guidance from the father to that point. That was not part of the plan Jesus knew. If you read the verses that I picked out above to show you that the Father had told Him to go After Jesus had answered his brothers.
There is a nugget of wisdom in there if you have eyes to see and ears to hear
@davidbledsoe6374 Bro, you are extremely confused. The King James did not translate the new Testament from Hebrew! That's not even a thing. You might be confusing the Greek Septuagint Vs the Hebrew Masoretic Text which is Old Testament. The debate over the NT is essentially the Alexandrian vs the Byzantine. (Also know as TR Vs MT vs CT)
Let's make it easy. The KJV is backed by 99% of all the manuscripts we have which is over 6,000. The ESV like all the modern Bibles (besides the NKJV) goes with the CT which basically only has 2 manuscripts to go off of. (Of those 2 manuscripts, they dont even agree with eachother!) They claim it to be better because it's "older" but even by the date (which i don't believe) is only dated about 60 years older than our oldest prior which aligns with the 99%. My brother, if you used your head for just a minute, you'd quickly find something wrong with the modern scholarly conclusion that it's a good idea to go with manuscript ignoring the 99% which have been used by Christians for almost 2,000 years. Do you honestly believe God would allow us to have the wrong words for all church history while leaving a bread crumb to only be discovered less the 200 years ago?! I used to think like you to till I started actually studying. That's when I went with the KJV and never looked back. If you want to use the ESV, go ahead. If you love Jesus and trust in Him, that's all that matters but the ESV is not remotely close to being more accurate. It's watered down and flat out wrong in every way it disagrees with the Majority Text (KJV)

@davidbledsoe6374 I just re-read your second comment. So you're telling me you know John 7:8 doesn't have the word Yet because you prayed and the spirit revealed to you that Jesus didn't want to go? Are you listening to yourself? He'd have been acting against the will of the Father, which would mean he wasn't perfect in all ways. Also let's not forget the fact that if he was able to know everything ahead of time, he'd known he was gonna go so he lied! Lol! You can't get around that! And I cannot believe you just said the spirit revealed that to you! Maybe the spirit of Satan but not the Holy spirit. Brother, I'm gonna pray for you

If you have to explain the variations text of the different bible, then the Bible is not accurate and is misleading. Trust the Holy Spirit of Truth that Jesus has sent to guide us till the end of time.
Traditions and doctrines of man are misleading.
