19:20 The pillar snap issue is because the foundations (F) are a little off from the ceilings (C). You have pillars on the F's and pillars on the C's. The pillars snapping from the C to the F are not snapping onto the F pillar, but snapping to their natural distance. It just looks weird because your C's and F's are slightly off... Nobody likes their F's off.

My finals for a degree are coming up in two weeks and I'm from an Asian family. The pressure to perform is real, so much so that I've begun to talk to myself. But coming home everyday and just watching Sl1p and Z and Draxx play Ark is like that temporary whisking away to another dimension where I don't have to care a smidget about the stress to score. Momentarily my mind just clears up and all is well. I thank you Sl1p, you may not know this, but you're helping at least one student not go insane. :)

The pillar snap points @ 19:30. They are snapping to the other location of the nearby pillars. You have 2 sets of independent anchor points very close to each other, but not exactly the same location (as you noted earlier in the vid - the gap between your ceilings and the foundations). So the 2 snap points are relating to the 2 different anchor points you have up there.
I think your base would look baller with some glass walls - a skyscraper kind of stuff and things. I think there is a mod for this. Great video! I really enjoy your channel

The pillars are trying to snap to the adjacent ceiling/foundation, at the other side of the small gap you got there, thats the weird snap point you are getting. 29:30 Take some metal from the vault... put some metal in the vault :P
Quetzal's are also great dino transports. if you put a builbable saddle on and build a ramp up the back you can stack dinos on the back, and still carry one in the talons.

@Sl1pg8r The pillars snap exactly 1 "space" away from the middle of a foundation or pillar. So when u guessed where to play the thatch foundations and then built pillars it was trying to snap to either the pillar that is was on or 1 space from the other pillar. Hard to explain lol. Love the vids

Slip congrats on that great building. I am really excited to see it all in metal. Btw the next update is supposed to also bring flyer breeding according to the patch notes. There is a great thing I found out today about xp and that is when you are on a creature and you get shared xp your creature geta not you. This is a great way to level your creatures especially if they are freshly tamed.
the thatch foundations look like they're at the same level as the top of the elevator. if you wanted to make the elevator flush you could try building new ceilings out from the level of the foundations to check it. Wouldn't need the ramps in that case and the pillars wouldn't poke through the ceilings
With the base the part where the elevator reaches could be used for utility while the floor above it is more of an aesthetic/special item storage/baby hatching area
If your up for it you should build a enormous hanger that holds your Dino and have levels like 4 stories high somthing and then have elevators anyways best UA-camr ever slip good job
I think, you might have to be a bit careful when you convert the roof. You might not be able to place the metal ceilings on top and remove the thatch afterwards because the thatch roofs are already on the highest snap point of the pillars.
If you build a large bridge across to the rock formation nearby where you used to get metal, would it stop the nodes from spawning? If not you could do that, tame an anky, and just walk it across the bridge to collect metal and you won't have to fly all the way to the mountain constantly

You can tell a dinos burden point by looking at the weight symbol. They're fine if you fill up the body of the symbol, but slow down when you start filling the handle.
For future reference, the entire height of the foundation you are laying is determined by the first one you lay. If you had started closer to the higher area with your first foundation and then worked forward and backward, you could have covered more area without it colliding with the floor or being too high to lay without a pillar. I messaged you last week but I know that you are very busy.
That would be awesome if you made it a T because you could build it over and put a building under it and kind of connect them to make it look cool. You could also add an elevator under it too and make it a garage or landing spot.
Hey Sl1p you should think about using folders in your vaults. Just helps with general organising and makes it easier to have an overview of what materials you've got ;)
I'm not sure if it's just my gigantopithecus melee dmg, but he seems to get more thatch from beating trees down than any of my other tames. Of course he also gets overloaded with berries pretty fast as well.
Sl1p, now you have that upper platform laid out with foundations, could you replace the slightly lower platform across to the lift at the same level instead of using ramps? That would reduce the amount that the lift pillar sticks up too which would be a good thing.
If I could pass along a few ideas, Sl1pg8r...? You could build a "patio," as in a lip around the top part of your L base, like away from the elevator. It could be like a watch pad to see not only the beauty of Ark but also good tames. Add a few chairs, a bench or two... Really homey touch to a carnivorous world. You can't snap foundations to ceilings, correct. But foundations do snap to areas AROUND a pillar. So you can work around it by placing a temporary wall on the ceiling you want to snap a foundation to (so you go one block up vertically), place two outward ceilings on that wall (so you go two blocks out horizontally), place a pillar on the outermost ceiling, and you'll be able to snap a foundation next to that pillar (below the fist ceiling on the temporary wall): ultimately connecting the foundation to the ceiling.
Hey Slip...those pillar snap have to do with the pillars...pillars have a front to them....another pillar will snap one square to the front and back of the pillar. The Front is the same as the front as the foundation placement you discovered when doing the elevators.

Sl1pg8r! Build a Quetzalcoatl platform saddle and attach a ladder to the back. You should be able to get on the anky from the ladder.

you should make a wood deck on the right side of your base. Overhanging the cliff! build it with fences and wood torches!

you should add some kind of platform to land all the flyers inside, like a unloading station or stables but mostly for the flyers.
You know what I'm thinking, double the structure, put an island in the middle, and you've got a sl1ppy base for sl1pg8r.
You should totally build a couple lower floors that can be accessed while the elevator is going up.
