Nobody has commented on this in a long time. I just wanna say, this song is still incredible 2 years later! It was awesome from the beginning, but now it has the weight of this incredible campaign on its back. From the high seas, to the southern coasts of Wildemount, to the dark plains of Xhorhas, to the diverse cities of the Dwendalian Empire, to the chaotic sub-planes of Halas, and all the way back to the small town of Trostenwalde. The carny whose thread was severed too soon. The dark angel struggling for freedom of will. The naïve little girl who won’t let the world be taken too seriously. The goblin desperate to defy fate and restore the life she once had. The sailor whose desire for validation almost wrought calamity upon Exandria. The sad wizard who wants the break reality. The no-shits-given monk who’s learned to give a shit. The lonely gardener searching for his family and a purpose. This song represents something magical. When an episode, of any tone, ends and this song plays, it holds just the perfect soundscape for this story. When it ends on a particularly heavy or emotional note, this song means the world. @@ColmRMcGuinness It's so good. It's actually better than the art they show too, and some of it is unbelievable. Every time I hear this I just fall more and more in love with it. So glad, I finally wised up and started watching, so I could pick up that guys like you are out there. Brilliant, kudos!
This really is THE Theme for Campaign 2. Its got that grittyness, but also the triumph and challange. I love to see a fellow ‘Colm’ rocking it in the world with our Gaelic heritage, my Celtic brother! Amazing piece, I often use it as a centrepiece in my D&D games that I DM weekly and I always get questions where it’s from. I have never used CR music before so know that I don’t use this track because it’s related to CR, I use it on it’s own merits, and because it’s the equivalent of a hard rock power rock ballad that they would have in Faerun, or Tal’Dorei, Wildemount, Greyhawk, Dragonlance, and all other fantasy settings. Bravo!
no matter the community noone can say sth negative about this song, i can imagine and even prefer it as one.of the main songs i things like lotr, skyrim or even game of thrones.
Absolutely phenomenal work. As much as I love the visual art during the slideshows, I have to be honest and say that a majority of the reason I watch them instead of fast forward is the music you’ve made. I have a quick question- the little staccato change in tone that seems to ripple back and forth that occurs at 2:45 (I am not musically talented so I can’t even describe it particularly well)- what would you call that technique? It’s so audibly striking.
The music that plays during game breaks helps to capture the "heart" of the campaign. "Twin Elms" by Justin Bell is what played for campaign 1, and many of those who were there for C1 go back and listen to wax nostalgic. It hits you in the feels. You remember the good times, the tragedies, the goofy goobing, the losses, and the love of a found family. It's truly fascinating what power music holds. I got into Critical Role right as C1 was ending, so I watched C2 live from start to finish. It was something to look forward to every week for 3 and a half years. The booming onset of "Welcome to Wildemount" hits you like a rush of wind, and it just carries me back instantly to that world and those exciting nights. Laughing at these idiots and their mischief (chaos crew for life). The fear as they faced horrors beyond horrors. When new loves ebbed and flowed. When they overcame their struggles, and when they didn't, and suffered great pain. A story 3 years in the telling. I miss the Nein dearly, but their story continues on.
I prefer this over the “remastered” version. There is a fluid, natural, profound sound to it that I think the remaster lacks. There are additions to the remaster I do enjoy, but it is hard to improve on something that is already perfect.
Honestly I think the point of changing to the "remaster" was to have a change in music, as they used this as the art montage theme for quite a long time, while still keeping the same theme. Or maybe because it was getting to higher levels, (or "epic" levels,) they wanted to have a soundtrack that fit that feel?
@@Loafusbreadmyre I agree, they definitely wanted to “level up” the song, and it works, but there’s something different about the mix of the remaster. I think the bass levels were turned down. This original version, I feel it in my chest. Down in my PLUMS. The remaster doesn’t feel the same. I still love both. This song is fucking amazing!!!
Where i come from dnd is not a thing. I got introduced to mighty nein in 2019.This soundtrack + the fanart reel during the break is what brought mighty nein to life for me . can easily imagine this over a sweeping landscape of wildmount like the perfect opening credits scene to get your blood going; the dark cello adds the element of danger that effortlessly woven into the background of the story and the overall mystery but then the lighter notes have that whimsical nature. ugh, would listen to a 10 hour cut of this.
Despair, lamenting, but also hope. Three emotions I feel when I hear this. It's the sound of a crushing reality setting it only to have a tiny ray of sunshine, a chance, a fragment of possibility present an out. It's beautiful.
I can’t believe that I found this incredible piece of music a couple months ago while listening to Aiden Chan, and now it’s the official fan art music for Critical Role. What a way to make an entrance! Gorgeous music! Simply gorgeous!
Dont get me wrong the original song they used for the art slideshow was good. But this song is absolutely incredible. Gets me excited everytime i hear it. Amazing job here
sadness, triumph, joy, adventure, discovery, this music shoves me through all those emotions and more that i felt during campaign 2, a true masterpiece, dear god i don't know what i'd do without CR I wont forget to love you critters you're beautiful you're good enough you deserve it you can do it
So I've been watching critical role for years, hearing this song at the beginning of every single episode of campaign two, and I found you in a completely unrelated way a few months ago, but I only learned TODAY that you wrote this song. The world really is smaller than I thought.
Hey hey. I started campaign 2 almost two years ago and am I only about a little less than half way through it but everytime this song comes on without fail I can’t skip past it. It’s a go to on the playlist. It’s a song that brings me a sense of calmness and almost assurance that even if things are as daunting as they seem, it’ll be alright. I genuinely love this song, thank you so much for sharing it with the world five years ago.
I am just now watching through The Mighty Nein campaign, and I thought to myself, "This music during the fan art is awesome. I wonder where it comes from?" Apparently it came from you! Very nice work, it's truly epic.
The fact that this has less views than a normal CR Episode it is featured in every week... Still, It has to feel good to know that literally millions of people have heard your music, and when you think about it in those terms, it's pretty AMAZING!
When I first heard this (having never played the Witcher series) I was completely convinced it had to be part of the OST, given how much they’ve incorporated Witcher music into the new campaign. It blew my mind to discover it was a fan piece. Well done!!
I went to the Chicago Live Show back in February. The entrance to the place took forever to let everyone into the theater. We ended up waiting an hour and a half before the show started but during that wait they had the slideshow of fan art playing on repeat. With some music, if you play it to many times, you get bored after a while but not this song. Every time that opening played I would get that tingling in my spine like hearing it for the first time. Every art piece that was showed was that much more with the sound of Wildemount thundering around the theater. Thank you so much for the amazing music and I can not wait for your next piece.
Heard this for the first time tonight on stream. Amazing, epic feeling. Now with the video, it looks like you are also living my life goal of learning every stringed instrument in the world. Thank you for this; I'm glad to see that the cast/crew at G&S appreciate this as much as the rest of us.
Matthew Bohne Thank you very much! Hahaha I got my first cello last October and it spiraled from there. I held a twitter poll asking which ones to get next and it looks like I’m getting a Saz and a Tagelharpa pretty soon
God damn, boi! I was sure as heck this was an official soundtrack of the witcher 3. I kept searching for a lot of time until i discovered Who did It. Outstanding job
Heard this song in a critical role art reel and thought "wow this song is amazing! I come to listen to it and I HAVE to make a loop of this so I can just listen to it all of the time!
This is such a fantastic piece! My fiance and I stream Critical Role through our tv, and I genuinely got chills when I heard this on the full sound system. Something about that slide on the cello is just trance-inducing.
This piece really is amazing. At first I thought this was a cover of the song from critical role, then realized it's your original. This tune carries a lot of weight with it. It is powerful, yet has beautiful dynamics and chill moments, only to come back up to a heart-pounding energy again. It is inspiring for the future and nostalgic of the past all at once. At certain times, it will have you at the edge of your seat wondering what will happen next, and of others, it feels like it makes you sit back and think, "Man, that was a heck of a day...". I have heard this hundreds of times now and it never gets old. As a fellow musician, I ask you to please keep this up. Do not stop making epic music like this. I would personally love to see you make some longer battle music scores with similar power and a more subtle, soft bit for the quiet, serious, personal or romantic moments.
Fellow critter here! I am loving this music! It brings such vivid images to my brain! If I had to describe what I thought of this in one word, it would simply be EPIC!
I'm really hoping that after we get to hear this throughout the campaign, Matt uses this piece during a climactic battle/moment. I would lose my freaking mind! Chills every time, great work.
I just want to show appreciation for this piece. It has been years and I still love it. Someone used it in a instagram reel and I immediately was thinking back to the m9 and the campaign. I am actually thinking of rewatching it now. Thank you again for the music you make
I would love a more in depth analysis please! Also this is my new head canon for Wildemount Looking forward to listening to the rest of your stuff! After I listen to this again. For the 20th time. This hour. edit forgot about strikethrough
I woke up to that "BWAAAH" at the begining more times than i'd like to admit. Watching CR in bed is trully glorious. Jumping through the episode on the next night, trying to find the last thing you remember before dozing off is less so.
It's been a while since I heard it for the first time live on CR. I was absolutely amazed by this masterful piece of music. Those days, while listening to it, I was thinking about "is it thursday yet?". But today, while watching CR, I still think back to this effing great song and just how peace of mind it gave to me! Still listening to it. Still loving it. Thank you!
This is great. I love the eastern Europe vibes...this is so tied to campaign 2 in my mind now. I used to skip the bit between breaks, but not anymore. It's a joy to hear!
Glad you liked it! I wrote this piece coming right off the new year with 8 soundcloud followers and listening back on it sends me to the same place. Very excited to write more!
4 years ago I discovered critical role and began listening to it. I discovered this song and I made it a part of my life. I condensed parts of it to use as a ringtone for over a year, I looped it to use in my own personal dnd games, and I listened to it all the time. Then I started to get busier with school, and I fell out of listening to critical role, and I stopped listening to this. This year, I've begun to continue my critical role journey by finishing up campaign 2 because so much of my life is owed to it. So of course when I was watching one of the art reels and this song came on again, I was brought back to the very first moment I heard it. I left a comment here 4 years ago, and I'm leaving another one now because this song is so important to me. Thank tou so much for creating this wonderful masterpiece.
Omg I’m so happy I found this!! I love this song so much and I’ve wondered where it came from for a while. So happy to find that a critter was the one who made it
Okay. I, as a huge fan of the Witcher 3, legit thought this was from that game when I heard it. Blew my mind when I found out it was an original piece. Well done.
It’s so surreal to see this actually played out in front of me. The music to which I have laughed, cried, yelled, shouted, watched in awe as the beautiful artwork of so many critters rolls in front of me every Thursday. This is bringing me to tears just watching. Thank you for creating and sharing!
Critical Role is now using your piece of art! I was frantically searching the chat for a link to the creator. Boy oh boy do I love it, so powerfull, dramatic and a little bit sinister. I absolutely love it!
Thank you so much for composing one of my favourite pieces of music of all times! Reading the description really surprised me! I am hugarian, and played folk music for about 5 years. When I first heard this music a few months ago when I started watching c2, I loved it immediately. Which is a really rare thing for me, I usually only like stuff (songs, games, stories and the like) at first, and come to love it when I am discovering new details about it. It makes a lot more sense now!
This is the coolest song EVER... it’s perfect for Critical Role; epic and yet so emotional... Whenever I listen to this soundtrack I am filled with a feeling of longing I can not describe and god... it’s just amazing. Props to you man, you have no clue how much this song has improved my overall Critical Role experience 🙃

Despair, lamenting, but also hope. Three emotions I feel when I hear this. It's the sound of a crushing reality setting it only to have a tiny ray of sunshine, a chance, a fragment of possibility present an out. It's beautiful.
Back to listen to this after 6 years, damn time flies
I can’t believe that I found this incredible piece of music a couple months ago while listening to Aiden Chan, and now it’s the official fan art music for Critical Role. What a way to make an entrance! Gorgeous music! Simply gorgeous!
Dont get me wrong the original song they used for the art slideshow was good. But this song is absolutely incredible. Gets me excited everytime i hear it. Amazing job here
My reddit inbox will tell you otherwise haha! Gotta love Justin Bell's work, he's an absolute industry legend!
Thank you for the kind words!
@@ColmRMcGuinness there are seriously people who dont think this song is a masterpiece?
Dude ... thats so epic .... I want this to be Critical Roles new titlemusic .... E P I C ! ! !
Well, you got your wish ^^ (kinda)
sadness, triumph, joy, adventure, discovery,
this music shoves me through all those emotions and more that i felt during campaign 2, a true masterpiece, dear god i don't know what i'd do without CR
I wont forget to love you critters
you're beautiful
you're good enough
you deserve it
you can do it
So I've been watching critical role for years, hearing this song at the beginning of every single episode of campaign two, and I found you in a completely unrelated way a few months ago, but I only learned TODAY that you wrote this song.
Thank you critical role, for introducing me to this absolutely awesome musician. So far, every single on of your pieces have given me chills.
Dude, the Emotions I get from this just auto-playing while vibing to your music. What a long way everyone has come!
HOLY SHIT NEW OFFICIAL ART SONG I’ve been loving this and am so glad to hear it each week now.
That trill (for lack of proper term) at 2:45 always gives me chills.
This gives me chills each week I hear it on the show, it's gorgeous
I’m rewatching critical role campaign 2 because the mighty nein is my favourite and this song hits so differently when I hear it.
Everytime I hear this song my heart fills with joy. This makes my day every thursday. Thank you
3 years later, (Almost four!) I still get pumped listening to this version and the newer version.
I really wish this was on Spotify I absolutely love it, three years and still killing it
Me too!
I finally found it. The source. No, THE Source! Thank you for this epic masterpiece.
Sometimes you just have to come back to relive this amazing music from C2.
Was playing for honor with this in the background. So good! Again great job with this!
Sweet Ioun this is masterful. Gave me an almost Avengers vibe once the violins kicked in this needs to be critical role's new theme
No slow start, this just drops you right into the action. That first echoing cello slide always gives me chills. Amazing work.
This sounds like something that could have come out of The Witcher. Absolutely incredible. It makes me excited for the fan art breaks.
Thank you so much for listening! I just made this in my down-time, so seeing how far it making it on to the show is insane
Very much appreciated, man! I'd lose my mind more!
I just want to show appreciation for this piece. It has been years and I still love it. Someone used it in a instagram reel and I immediately was thinking back to the m9 and the campaign. I am actually thinking of rewatching it now.
Thank you again for the music you make
I would love a more in depth analysis please! Also this is my new head canon for Wildemount
Looking forward to listening to the rest of your stuff! After I listen to this again.
For the 20th time.
This hour.
edit forgot about strikethrough
Gold star! GOLD STAR FOR YOU SIR!
I had no idea this was produced by a single fan. It's breath-takingly beautiful and grandiose. It moves me to my very core
I am so sad I CANNOT LIKE THIS MORE THAN ONCE HOLY BALLS ITS AMAZING!!!! Thank you so much for sharing your talent with us!
I can't believe this doesn't have a million views yet!
Sounds like you've updated the official track for 2021, my fellow Dub, absolutely killing it man 💚
I woke up to that "BWAAAH" at the begining more times than i'd like to admit. Watching CR in bed is trully glorious. Jumping through the episode on the next night, trying to find the last thing you remember before dozing off is less so.
I have listened to this for my whole 9-hour shift on repeat and I still love it! so that says something :D Great work!
Thank you!
I have heard this countless times over the past three years. It never gets old!
Dude you should compose a whole soundtrack for their Wildemount campaign! This is phenomenal. I’d buy it in a hot second
I've had this piece on repeat in my noggin' for years because of Critical Role but I never found out it was from you... until now... SUBSCRIBED!
This is great. I love the eastern Europe vibes...this is so tied to campaign 2 in my mind now. I used to skip the bit between breaks, but not anymore. It's a joy to hear!
This song just goes straight to my heart. Idk how else to explain it but ughhh this music sends me to happy places!
And now the Official Mighty Nien fanart music! Congrats! :D Awesome Sauce! :D
Still listening to this every time i start writing a new campaign for my group, gets me pumped every single time :)
Well done.
Loved it. Great theme. Made me pumped to watch the stream tonight. Was freaking amazing along with the art. Will be looking at your other music.
DUDE!!! THEY DID IT!!! I'm so so so happy for you!!! You're sound was TRULY EPIC and NOW it's on for the WHOLE WORLD to hear in front of your favorite show!! WOOHOO!!! CONGRATULATIONS!!!
That slide on the cello is is wicked and my favorite part.
It's everywhere in Game of Thrones!
