  • Still digitizing my videos, some already deteriorating. Here's a clip from a Circle One show I shot a few short days before John was shot and killed by the police in Santa Monica...Sad day

The spirit of John Macias lives on in everyone in the crowd and on stage at every CIRCLE ONE show. I believe I have the flyer from this show if it was at Spankys...

Never heard of him or his band until I heard the ROLLINS clip about him from one of his spoken word shows. He sounded like a helluva character! I hated to hear the circumstances surrounding his death. Very sad!! R.I.P.
I've liked everything I've heard from CIRCLE ONE so far. I'll keep listening

I read an article about his death recently, kind of hit home. They concluded the article so well, describing the man as a helpful peacemaker that would protect others and promote unity. Last thing that was said that hit home was "I'm sorry no one was there to protect you". My fiancee is schizoaffective, I feel for this man not having someone or something around to ground him if(and likely was) he was having an episode. I wish I was old enough to have met him.

A peace maker does not use violence to enforce peace. This is fascist. he started instituting the bible in his music. Look up his song the gospel. I think cops need to die. But not in the name of god. I pity john. As I struggle with my mental health as well, and that's a fucked up hole to dig your self out of. This whole thing with John fascinates me to be honest. That may have been me if I was born in east LA in 1960. Jesus fuck the American mental health care system is a joke now, I couldn't even contomplate the fucked up psych drugs they used. Makes fucking seroquel look like harmless little smarties with little to massive side effects. And shock therapy. Fuck. John was put through hell to say the least. may he rest in peace. Or pieces. Whichever he deserves I guess. I still hate violence. (as long as it's not a cop!)

    • @joeywhiteside3729

@Mary Burdette well, honestly fair enough because I've done some dickish things on a bipolar mood swing that I would later regret, and the American mental health care System in its self is a joke. So taking this into consideration that is a fair point. I would never want to have to have hallucinations that scare me. He was only human I guess. Everybody tries to idolize him. Demonize him. But really he was just another person like everybody else.

@Timothy Wells hey, it admittedly I am kind of a pussy when it comes to violence. I feel that it is a vicious cycle that will only repeat itself. I believe in self-defense sure. What's wrong with pussy, you are what you eat. I don't know John, so at the end of the day I don't know. I am merely just fascinated by the story.

I was at this show and I spent a long time talking with John, agreeing to make the record that should have been recorded at least 10 years previously. I was very excited at the prospect.
I went as Youth Gone Mad were on the bill and Ena Kostabi had become my best friend by this time.
Incredibly, The Offspring were also on the bill and Dexter wanted to talk with me all night, or so it seemed. I just wasn't impressed at this point with them.
Strangely, I was never threatened by John. He should have been more than a footnote.
