In high school, I did poorly in history, always thinking "What's the point learning all this old stuff?" I'm now 71 and I can't get enough of it. Funny how that went. Thanks again for doing these walks. They're informative and interesting. Oh. And don't apologize for showing too many pubs. No such thing, you know.
Ha ha I'm very glad to hear it! I've really found a deeper interest in British history by making these videos - something that I was never as keen on at school for some reason. It's always interesting to see how the history of the country (and the world) intertwines with local histories all around the UK - and of course the many pubs :) Thanks for watching and commenting as always - I'm really glad you enjoy watching these walks!
It does indeed! Especially when the sun is shining, Wetherby is a beautiful place to be :) Thank you very much for watching - I'm really glad you enjoyed the video!
My brother and family have lived there for nearly sixty years. I used to go dancing to the Old Mill by the river but it’s been pulled down and flats built there. Wetherby Show was brilliant.
It's a gorgeous town - I can see why they've stayed around in Wetherby for so long :) It's a shame about the Old Mill there - but Wetherby does still have a few of its older structures still standing, which is nice! Thank you so much for watching - I really hope you enjoyed the video :)
Hi I'm from Wetherby. 40 years I lived there such a lovely place, however it turned into a wine bar place, all the old pubs shut down, now Wetherby is for the rich
It really is! I love a walk in Wetherby and down by the River Wharfe - especially on a nice sunny day :) Thank you so much for watching - I really hope you enjoyed the video!
Thanks! I'm really glad you enjoyed the video - I didn't notice the near miss there when I was walking, good thing everyone made it out unscathed :) Thank you so much for watching!
I've lived in Bardsey so my local town centre, I've worked as a police officer and Wetherby was my station and beat, still visit too, my relatives did too before they passed, a big part of my family 😊
Wonderful! It's a lovely town indeed, and may I see a delightful place to walk on your beat too :) Bardsey I hear is an interesting place too - home to the country's oldest pub according to the sign on the road from Leeds? Thank you so much for watching - I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
You're welcome! The maps were actually a very helpful suggestion by a viewer in the comments before, something I didn't think to include at first, but I'm so glad they help to give a bit of context to each place :) Thank you so much for watching - I'm so glad you enjoyed the video!
I've been away from Yorkshire for a good 33 years now and still miss a few things and places so I'm enjoying your walks. I wonder if you could include Skipton, Settle & Horton-in-Ribblesdale sometime? Those towns mean so much to me.
Thank you so much! I'm so glad you're enjoying the walks and that they bring back some nice memories of Yorkshire! I've actually made a walk of Skipton, which you can see here: ua-cam.com/video/ZNVBI5s36CA/v-deo.html I'll add Settle and Horton-in-Ribblesdale to my list of places to visit too - so do stay tuned for those and more towns and villages from around the Dales :) Thank you so much for watching and for your kind words!
@@LetsWalkUK Just watched your Ingleton walk - wonderful place and area. I love the three peaks and when in the area I can't resist Ingleborough. I park just outside Ingleton and walk from there. Lovely route although a bit challenging in the winter snow and ice. Thanks for Skipton, I'll watch it.
As an aside I went to Foxwood School (Leeds) which bought The Golden Lion in Horton-in-Ribblesdale in the very early 70's and couldn't resist going to stay there and learn some outdoor skills as often as possible.
Can I just say, this is a brilliant channel. It would help me decide where to move in the future. Any chance of doing towns such as Crosby in Merseyside and North Shields, and South shields, Whitley bay? I think Bournemouth would be nice to see too. I've always wanted to visit there
Thank you so much! I'm really glad to hear you're enjoying the videos, there are certainly so many incredible towns to discover around the UK! Thank you very much for all your suggestions for videos - that'll require a good amount of travelling to get them all in, though I have a video coming in the future from Formby in Merseyside (just north of Crosby), so stay tuned for that :) I've never actually been to Bournemouth before - I'll make the trip to film a video soon thanks to your recommendation!
