The Patina Collective showcased a unique gem from their extensive Mercedes collection-the $1M 1000SEL Mercedes built for Princess Diana. The spotlight car was custom-built for Princess Diana's Middle East reception during the 1980s. This one-of-a-kind vehicle features bespoke gold accents, a custom SGS body kit, and an interior adorned with pearls. Although British royalty typically only uses British cars, this Mercedes served as a ceremonial showcase of respect. Despite never being driven by Princess Diana, its historical significance and unique craftsmanship contribute to its high valuation.

I import cars and the have to be at least 25 years old to import into the USA, unless it was sold new in the USA and then sent overseas. Really limits what you can import, so what these guys are doing is definitely special and genius.

@@akuaku1309 back in the 90s, from what I know, the 25 year rule wasn’t in effect and/or wasn’t enforced.

@@johnsonreppyou can still import new cars today…they just have to meet all regulations for cars currently sold in the US. The 25 year rule exempts the car from those regulations. In order to bring anything newer you might have to modify the car for emissions etc, which becomes cost prohibitive.
@@treedillinger5801 this is a very special case scenario. Most vehicles do not qualify. Show and display is also a very rare selection. Most vehicles that qualify for this have tuner shops that grandfathered in and approved by the fed. You can’t just buy any car and get it federalized. Doesn’t work like that
