Thanks Dave for the invite and letting us in on what happened. Most people would be outraged over the video but you are one cool dude. That is one beautiful boat.
What impressed me the most of this incident was how you all treated each other. It was an accident. No one wanted that to happen. The way you all comforted the little boy was incredible. We clearly saw that the lady must have bumped into the throttle but you all chose to be patient and calm even after such a traumatic event. The reaction time to throttle it down, spiderman like. The boat is beautiful by the way. When I first saw it come into view I said Whoa! What is that! But what was even more beautiful was your treatment of each other. Concern for the boy, calmly dealing with aftermath, and no one losing it on that poor woman who I'm sure felt terrible. Much respect to the father and friends for showing us all how we should act. Alfred, your videos and style of interview are unique and enlightening. Thank you for what you do.
Proof that even the best of plans can go off course. The owner really seems to have his act together and I'm so glad he trusts his family to learn the ropes. Best of luck for the future and enjoy that beautiful vessel.
Alfred, this is easily among your Top Ten videos because it is a valuable teaching moment. BRAVO to Dave Bustamante and Jorge Suarez for speaking openly about this incident. We need more stuff like this on UA-cam. Thank you Alfred!
He shouldn't of because they made excuses when they messed up and instead of accountability or responsibility they brush it off that it could happen to anyone but that's not true. Only if they have bad habits and don't use safety precautions as intended or at all. That's my humble opinion. It's very misleading. George 100% messed up & now won't learn a thing instead of never making that mistake again. That button exist for exactly this reason and to give gas when starting with out flying off. Callous disregard for good boating habits. And no one will learn. Let's praise quick reflexes for how he responded to a potentially lethal completely avoidable that was all his fault. People do make bad decisions or forget, and that's believable & hes very lucky noone got hurt. But did he learn his lesson so it never happens again, I'm not so sure. Could this video be used to remind and show people what happens when you don't think - absolutely bit that's not what was done.
Thank you guys for explaining what caused the accident and especially for not cursing and using foul language. Dave and Jorge you are teaching the boys how to act and be respectful adults when they grow up. Thankful that no one was hurt during this especially your boys we need good young men to grow into better men. God bless your family Sir. 👍🇺🇸☝️🙏
Great teaching moment for sure. It is so easy to trip, slip, and/or fall on any boat. Whiskey throttle is always in play. My new Yamahas have a neutral hold button that I am happy to use when the motors are on and I am away from the helm for any reason. Thanks David & George for being willing to be talk about this situation.
Really cool of the owner to come on and explain the situation. I commend him on staying so calm at the time of the accident. Nothing to be embarrassed about. Props to you! Nice job Alfred as usual!!!
Great follow up. Really nice guys. Beautiful boat. What really impresses me is Dave said how important it is for other people to know how to operate the boat if he can’t. I see so many couples on Haulover and hardly ever do you see the women learning to drive those waves.
thankful all were safe and the boat had minimal damage. Grats for that. its a beautiful boat!! may you all enjoy for many years!! thanks Alfred for the follow up. my heart ached for the little guy. i grew up on boats so i sympathized with him. Hugzzz to all!!
Beautiful boat!!! I can see how the accident happened now. Makes so much sense with that seat flipping forward. Glad they were willing to share this story!!!
The first thing I noticed when it happened was how good of a Dad that he was. I have had plenty of stuff happen while boating. Nothing serious at the dock yet, but I am sure it's coming. I lost a prop on an old Johnson motor and had to go swimming for it. Luckily the water wasn't deep. I had that same Johnson engine quit in the middle of the lake and had to get towed in. Only to find that it was a coil wire that came off when we hit another boats wake. I got stuck on a sand bar with my current boat. Luckily I powered out of it, but I replaced the water pump once I got it back home. Bad things happen to everyone. We just learn from our mistakes and move on.
Excellent video Alfred!!! The owner was incredibly nice for letting you come to his home for a full explanation/demonstration of how this accident happened including the guy at the helm who left it for a blink an eye. There are plenty of videos showing the same thing where the captain leaves the helm with the engines running for a second and someone hits the throttles causing people to get hurt or scares everyone on board including the captain. This video should serve as a lesson for EVERYONE, even those with decades of experience on the water. It only takes one time for someone to get hurt or worse by one simple accidental action. 19:50 how it happened
Well done sharing this incident. I love his advice on what to do differently next time. I will also learn from this and do the same from now on when I reach the ramp.
They didn't take responsibility & I don't know why. In fact they are proud of how they responded to a completely preventable accident and blamed seat and other person. So wrong in so many levels. The boy messed up and if took responsibility would never forget to engage that button again making his lesson lucky to learn with out killing anyone. Instead ,he may have learned nothing .
Thank-you for clarifying the accident and I'm glad no one was hurt, other than embarrassment. That can happen to anyone, when not staying with your established procedure, ie: "Helmsperson only on boat, during recovery".
I worked for SOUTHCO, FOR 22 years.. We made access fasteners for many boat companies. I retired in 2006. The latches you use were called M1 .. it makes me proud to see the stuff we made on these boats. PS. they are still paying me ,, pension to this day.
A very informative video interviewing Dave, the DD owner and his Triple H Cat and his buddy at the throttle. Very level-headed crew who took the time to explain the mishap at the ramp. Moral of the story, keep people with bags away from the helm. Glad the boat or people didn't suffer too much.
No ,George is supposed to engage the safety neutral lock button every time he gets up out of the drivers seat when engines are on. George forgot and could of killed people. It's complacency with safety. Especially with someone sitting by the drivers chair. It's a 100% all the time no exceptions when you leave drivers chair w/ engines running. The captain could trip and hit throttles getting back in the helm. Luckily noone got hurt. Nice boat nice tour nice interview however Dave said only thing he'd do differently is get everyone off of the boat- that's blaming the lady who fell. It could of been George that tripped thus the safety button.
One of the best videos I have ever watched. Great job to all three of you to go over what happened AND how to keep others from having it happen to them. So great to see such awesome openness and willingness to help others. Something like this could happen to anyone at any time. i always try to haul out with just me on the boat, now that is a solid rule after watching this. All three of you deserve a huge thank you from the boating community everywhere!
Such an interesting lesson in how stuff happens. Rule #1, “everyone off the boat, thank you, love you, off the boat please” Wonderful interview, wonderful family, thank you Alfred
Alfred, I've been watching you since the beginning and love your show. You started out by making fun of people but now you're pivoting to really getting into what happened and why. Starting to love your show even more
Great incident recap video Alfred. So happy that no one was hurt. And thanks for the quick tour of the boat. Hope you can do a sea trial video of the boat in the future.
Great way to make a learning experience for all of us. Both Dave’s are class acts. Dave senior is a fabulous dad and is making a difference in his young son. Alfred, wonderful job on all levels.
Hey beautiful boat and house. Respect for the owner for coming on. You really didn't need to explain anything to us. Shit happens and it didn't go bloop bloop bloop.
I love this video. The boat is awesome, Dave is very chill and gracious in telling the story. A tremendous amount of insight and information for everyone to learn about boating. Thank you Dave and Alfred for sharing!
Wow! Great video! This video shows what actually happens sometimes on a boat ramp with 'experienced' captains. I'm glad you showed this Alfed. Things/situations are not always exactly what they appear to be. 👍❤🙏
Experienced captain ( singular) that become complacent with safety habits , yes. Not an experienced good captain then you would of just heard engines rev.
The way he reacted after the hit just showed how good of a guy he is I'm glad you was able to show just how humble he is and was able to explain the accident that happened so hopefully it happens less from learning from there mistake.
I like how real Dave and his friend were about the whole situation. Seriously thought it was more damage on the engine then a scuff. Great attitudes and no worries about petty stuff. We all make mistakes. Thanks for the update!
Alfred thanks for this. I deleted my comments from the original video not because what I said, but someone made some stupid comments about the woman and the little boy. It was a Hater.
Heath is a great guy. He witnessed an accident while towing a boat on US1 about 2am that involved my son. He stopped and ran over to check on my son who was fortunately okay. The other driver ran the red light. Heath gave my son his card in case PD needed a witness and Heath apologized, but said he was going fishing, lol. He earned my respect and the HHH is now my dream boat.
I've been boating since I was a kid and I laugh as hard as anyone at some of the non-damage related trouble people have. But the first time I took out a new Ski Nautique, the boat reacted in a way that spooked me, and I ran it right into the dock, just like that. I remind myself of that every time I see someone make a mistake. Thankful I had a good fiberglass and gelcoat guy back then...
Beautiful boat……thanks to the owner for explaining what happened n for showing the channel his boat…….hopefully someone sees this n can make accommodations on their boat to avoid this happening to them …n thank you Alfred
It’s unfortunate that accidents happen. The boat owner and his brother are class acts. Super happy nobody was injured Love that HHH. Hope your back on the water soon
All around great video Alfred and good to know everyone if okay resulting from that incident that could have been worse. Beautiful boat and thanks for the walkthrough.
When I saw the original, I saw it was not from negligence. I notice that lil Dave was just upset not afraid. George messed up & didn't engage neutral safety button when he got up from drivers seat. It's 100% his fault & just lucky noone hurt or killed. Its there exactly to prevent this. Completely preventable situation. Not seats fault ,not person who moved ( albeit shouldn't of been there or moving around when power loading . In fact may have to powerload but it's actually illegal in most states it ruins ramps making the dirt build up in one spot and it's inharently dangerous BUT I agree with bunk trailers is needed with some boats. Dave mistake not clearing boat, trusting Dave and standing in dangerous spot too early.
@@JaneBramucci He did not say it was not his fault dude they are explaining how it happened which was unfortunate and not intentional. They admitted they made mistakes and got comfortable landing the boat which led to the incident. Hopefully this video will help someone else not make the same mistake they did. Sophie person they never admitted to the real cause is my point. Lots of other excuses explained in detail but missed that George showed poor boating and made a potentially lethal oversight. They never once mentioned that he should have engaged the neutral safety switch whenever you leave the drivers seat with the motors running. Not once & it's basic boating safety. This type of accident should not happen. There's always time to flip the safety switch because it can kill.someone. do you put your car in park when you get out? In standard do you out emergency break on ? Especially with kids in it. Cmon.
I believe this is the same situation that occurred with the Two Conchs captain in the keys when a client leaned on the throttles and nearly sent the captain overboard. Which lead to a viral clip of them arguing across socials.
Great video Alfred, Glad to see that the boat has barely any damage and that Little David is just fine. That is a very nice looking boat and I hope you can get us a full walk thru tour at the factory to showcase how they build these and different options they offer. I am gonna try to find if they have an Instagram page to follow them and tell them I heard about them From Alfred!
Girl was getting of that helm chair, cushion/storage sprung forward and acted as a slide. Getting off seat to wait on boat or off of boat like they said they would’ve done different, wouldn’t have changed outcome. Rule of thumb when always tied up to a dock is to hit the neutral/throttle off button asap, good habit to have. Either way beautiful boat, and even better barely any damage. Boat looks like a solid tank.
Alfred, all I can say is AWESOME. Only you can give us the behind the scenes info to complete the story. Thanks. You are the best. I'm setting up my membership, well worth it.
I'm 66 and I've probably launched and retrieved a boat at the boat ramp a thousand times in my life. I would hate to have my worst day doing it on video for everyone to see. We all have a bad day every once in a while.
Chit happens, unfortunate but it's a beautiful boat. As for damage, Eh, it's christened now! Maybe be it has a delay engaging from forward to reverse to protect the gears. Best of luck guys. Good video.
No George didn't engage the neutral safety switch when he left the drivers seat with engines running to tend to the rope. The boat tour is great. But the boat has a safety to prevent this from happening if throttles get bumped . Boating 101. 100% Georges fault , not the friends fault. George knew better and responsible for safety of all on the boat.
It's not like George forgot the fenders were out , lol this stuff is dealing with people and powerful running engines with fast props. Imagine if he did this at the sand bar they just left? If he took responsibility and realized what he screwed up than a lesson would be learned . George has no clue. Dave engaged it when he left the boats w/ motors running. It's common safety sense. This is serious and not forgot an anchor out & George still has no clue. George would be at Dave's funeral after running him over stating it was an accident . It's actually very serious. That's really bad safety habits. Never leave helm with motors running w/ out safety switch engaged.
It happens. It happened to me on my flats boat . With my wife . Luckily everything was good I walked away from that with some bruises but we are good .
Long time subscriber never a commenter ....This is your best video Love your channel keep on keepin it real oh and thank the double D's for letting you do this ...Stay Sweet
I stand corrected totally Georges fault. When he put boat in gear to attempt loading he disengaged the neutral safety button and when george went to align the boat with ropes he left the helm with out engaging the neutral safety button. However Dave trusted him and should not have been where he was until george loaded it most of the way. My other comments correct but it was all george and Dave for trusting his friend. Lol. George should fess up. He just wasn't thinking ( which a captain needs to especially with a new expensive boat that isnt his). Lol. Omg embarrsssing . Hes too embarressed and friend Dave too nice to be honest. Dave should pay any deductables or dock damage too. He screwed up still totally preventable with better safety habits. Georges fault, its boating safety 101.
Hello baby cuda amigo’s! Welcome to the happy few community! We are the original Monti’s 💪💪💪🙌🙌
Thanks Dave for the invite and letting us in on what happened. Most people would be outraged over the video but you are one cool dude. That is one beautiful boat.
That boat owner is a outstanding person!! Most folks act a fool and here this guy is teaching us how to act and what safety steps to take.
He did handle it well and seems super nice . Still missed the learning opportunity to save his friends face

Respect for telling your story ! Heck of a nice boat . Thank you
BEST VIDEO I'VE SEEN ALL YEAR!!! GOD BLESS Y'ALL!!!!
awesome video...wanted to know how this occured and here it is...only Alfred (mayor) knows the boaters!
beautiful cat!
Dude it occurred only because George left the helm with engines running with out pressing the neutral safety switch. 🙄
Its a good day to be alive , thx Alfred.

But hell of a family great people don’t come across many like that blessings to the double Ds can’t go wrong with a brand new boat 💪🏻💪🏻
Great video and who would ever think about this. Well done and hopefully get her all fixed up pretty again!
I'm 66 and I've probably launched and retrieved a boat at the boat ramp a thousand times in my life. I would hate to have my worst day doing it on video for everyone to see. We all have a bad day every once in a while.
That's some solid humility. Plenty people lose their chit over stuff like that.
As they say, “Chit Happens”, so glad everyone is OK and those couple of dings can be fixed, easily.
It a beautiful vessel
His sons are so handsome and sweet!! My kids are grown and I’m on grandkids now, starting with 1. She’s a tiny dream.
Cool aspect of behind the scenes.. mucho gusto👊🔥
Thank God he was watching over you and your family
Chit happens, unfortunate but it's a beautiful boat. As for damage, Eh, it's christened now! Maybe be it has a delay engaging from forward to reverse to protect the gears. Best of luck guys. Good video.
No George didn't engage the neutral safety switch when he left the drivers seat with engines running to tend to the rope.
The boat tour is great. But the boat has a safety to prevent this from happening if throttles get bumped . Boating 101. 100% Georges fault , not the friends fault. George knew better and responsible for safety of all on the boat.
All in all, he is totally right accidents do happen. And it’s very fortunate that no one got hurt.
Wrong totally preventable
@@JaneBramucci when you’ve been on the water long enough things happen. Next time you’re out there, try walking on it…
It's not like George forgot the fenders were out , lol this stuff is dealing with people and powerful running engines with fast props.
This is what we call an RCA ( Root Cause Analysis). Bro I see a series of this cooking in the near future. great video.
Awesome video! What a great family!!!!
Alfred, does Dave know how to Dock the boat by using the engines alone ? Captain Keith Tight lines
wait for it!
I think the little guy was more upset than dad.
Great video guys. Awesome boat 👍
It happens. It happened to me on my flats boat . With my wife . Luckily everything was good I walked away from that with some bruises but we are good .
Long time subscriber never a commenter ....This is your best video Love your channel keep on keepin it real oh and thank the double D's for letting you do this ...Stay Sweet
boat suffered minimal damage considering
and keep life jackets on kids until they get off the boat
Luckily nobody was hurt and eveyone satyed cool. The one takeaway for the design is to get rid of the hinged seat but overall a solid looking boat.
Great follow up video Mr Montaner! I’m a new sub and love ur video commentary especially when Fred is in the area 😂
Boats that big shouldn't be allowed to use public ramps. They simply are equipped to deal with 40" long power boats
Amazing Video!!!! Great people.
The captain was awesome and wish him the best on and off the water take care a nd god bless
Wow, that is one fine looking boat,
Nice family with an amazing boat...
That boat is georgous!!
