    I can't explain why, but hearing the audience sing the English and Japanese lyrics makes me tear up a little. I guess that Queen had/has much love for Japanese fans.

      Freddie loved Japan and spent a lot of time there. Him and Jim took like a 2 or 3 week vacation there and bought a few million $s worth of stuff for Garden Lodge.
      Edit: By vacation I mean holiday and $ I mean £. Sorry brits😂

    I think it's incredible that a band would write a song in a foreign language for their fans. I assume this was because of their huge appreciation of their Japanese fans. just too cool. and it's a great song as well.

    I once met a Japanese girl (Tomoko) and told her the only verses I knew in her language: this song. I was just imitating Freddie’s pronounciation, and I was not sure about how right or wrong her impression could be. Her eyes opened wider and wider, as if she were under my spell. Could not believe the power of poetry. She was so moved, she said it was lovely of me to say those beautiful things to her. She did not know the song before, and she believed it was a real poem.

    Teo Torriatte-this song is divine, extraterrestrial. At all not can understand, why she is considered rare and not has an infinite number of watch and listening. It had to be performed at every concert. Freddy's angelic voice, especially "Be not gooooooone", the song is a mixture of pain, goodness, love, mysticism, sensuality, peace. The Japanese just love Teo. The coolest slow song in the Queen's repertoire. All fans should be aware of its importance. Often things not touched by Commerce are better.

    A new life grows
    The blossom knows
    There's no one else could warm my heart as much as you
    Be not gone

    It just blows me away how Queen could do heavy metal one minute and a then do something like this the next. They were (are) such geniuses. And somehow they continually created songs that had that "let's all sing together" anthem quality to them... Truly amazing!

    • @basstian
      @basstian 7 років тому +7

      AFAIK, they only did the middle-eight in 1982, because by then they had an auxiliary keyboard player, so Brian could move from piano to guitar in that part. The '79 versions (and perhaps '81 as well but I'm not sure) were just verses and choruses and Brian didn't switch instruments.
