I can't explain why, but hearing the audience sing the English and Japanese lyrics makes me tear up a little. I guess that Queen had/has much love for Japanese fans.
Freddie loved Japan and spent a lot of time there. Him and Jim took like a 2 or 3 week vacation there and bought a few million $s worth of stuff for Garden Lodge. Edit: By vacation I mean holiday and $ I mean £. Sorry brits😂

I once met a Japanese girl (Tomoko) and told her the only verses I knew in her language: this song. I was just imitating Freddie’s pronounciation, and I was not sure about how right or wrong her impression could be. Her eyes opened wider and wider, as if she were under my spell. Could not believe the power of poetry. She was so moved, she said it was lovely of me to say those beautiful things to her. She did not know the song before, and she believed it was a real poem.
I’m Japanese person and I can tell you the Japanese part of this lyrics are absolutely poetic and beautiful. Whoever translated this part did an excellent job. Always makes me teary eyed when I listened.
@@yellowowl it was translated (I think at Freddie's original suggestion) by the professional interpreter who was accompanying Queen on their tours. She worked with Brian to make sure it kept the sense of the English he wanted, while still keeping the same meter and a musical sound.
At the end of the video, when I saw Freddie's exhausted appearance, I could understand that he really sang live for the Japanese fans, and my heart trembled. Thank you Freddie and QUEEN for loving Japan. I love you forever too.
Actually performers like the Beatles and David Bowie, and others, have done songs in foreign languages or in part English part another language. ABBA did this too.
@@arceptor To be fair, the Beatles weren't crazy about doing those German language songs, and it was more cynical, like let's get this market. And Michele is a great song, but wasn't written specifically for French fans. With Queen, they really did have a strong relationship with Japan. Brian also wrote Las Palabras de Amor for South American fans.

This astonishing Brian May song is one of queen's absolute best pieces. So moving and such a tribute from Brian and all of Queen to Japan especially as they sing the beautiful chorus in the Japanese language. Just breathtaking.
He has the best voice in history the most powerful and you know when the crowd sing with him it’s amazing how strong and how much he loved his fans especially when they sing with him
Just when I think I cannot be more impressed and in awe of Queen I “discover” this absolutely beautiful song and then they sing part of it in Japanese!! Wow!! What a magnificently beautiful tribute to the people of Japan. They welcomed Queen so warmly and Queen were so humbled by the reception they received. Obviously the fans were thrilled by the song. Not many artists would take the time to learn such a challenging language to speak (which I heard Freddie do in an interview) let alone sing. Yet another quality that made Queen a truly remarkable band!! ❤️👑❤️
A band truly appreciates their fans when they create a song specifically in the fans' language. That is so sweet and beautiful. You can tell the fans here really appreciated it :)
