  • Rob Hopkins co-founded the Transition Movement which has spread across the world. Here he asks why do we, as a species, do so little to prevent climate crisis and species extinction? We have many of the solutions yet we still do not act. Why?
Rob explores how Western culture is experiencing a failure of the imagination; in play, politics, health care, education, and civil society and asks, what if we found ways of unleashing our imaginations once again? What do we need to do this? What would happen? Could this be the touch stone of global change?
Filmed at Hawkwood’s Seed Festival in Stroud, which celebrates courageous climate leadership, creative expression and innovation in partnership with our natural world. Speakers, music, workshops, talks and more. www.seedfestiva...

What if ... (for some the lockdown has created that time, space and quietness to stop and observe) l don't want to go back to what was/is happening now - a fast paced deadline focussed consumerist society - time to take small steps

Well. Good on you. Quit your job, dig the backyard, but most people can't afford that

      @@RomanGolubev_A Karen suggested small steps.
what if we could find new ways of being communities that support each other? that share land to grow vegetables? to share skills? that help us feel more content with life?
I live in a rural area and there is just as much a need for new ways of being communities as in urban areas.
If we don't change then the next generations of humans are stuffed, as are many of the other creatures and plants on this planet. It probably also involves some political campaigning too. It is easy to feel overwhelmed, that there are no solutions...but maybe there are we just haven't thought of them yet; or haven't worked out how to make them viable.

@@flashblackrabbit totally agree with your "...but maybe there are we just haven't thought of them yet; or haven't worked out how to make them viable" I'm skeptical of the idea of usability of small communities as a solution. Humans have outgrown small community size long ago for a reason. Perhaps it may work in a small town, or a village, or it may work when people stop working full time and have much more free time on their hands.
