    I’m a female producer and I’ve produced a film as my first production…and I was treated very bad by males I’ve employed trying to discredit me…that production was hell…spent most of the time with tears…but hey I’m still standing pushing my development channel and soon the channel to be on one of the streaming channel…and I’ve told myself that I won’t be a push-over 🤞🏿…to women out there never be discouraged by males who are trying to make you stupid

      I love all the assumptions.... People have the assumption that if they fail or are not successful it's because of their gender (especially females). Remember there are many components to a successful career and unfortunately we just focus on gender because it gets the most attention.
      By default women also inherit and adopt the victim mentality. A study was conducted whereby cosmetic wounds were placed on the faces of males and females. They were then told they would be interviewed for a job. Prior to entering the room they were told their makeup would be touched up when in actually the cosmetic wounds were removed. After the interview females reported that they were treated differently because of their cosmetic appearance (i.e the cosmetic wound), however objectively there was no actual wound.
      In a time where we have unlimited access to social media and entertainment, why aren't women supporting women? Recently I saw an advert by a few prominent celebrities talking of the lack of support and financing given to women in sport. Yet the same female celebrities who have millions of followers are not even subscribed to the female team captains on social media and they have not been spotted at a single sports game. Stop blaming "Patriarchy" on everything because I bet things won't be different in a matriarchy. Women should start supporting women and stop forcing men to support women. Look at the beauty and fashion industry. The majority of clients are women but yet women wouldn't support an upcoming female designer. They'll rather support the male Italian designer.

    I've been a scriptwriter in the industry for the last 16 years and Sonia is speaking facts. It's sad that some people in these comments speak from outside the industry and issue and assume we want to be "handed" opportunities and we don't want to work. From the dawn of Generations, look at the list of writers and you'll find female writers have been carrying this industry for years. We work very hard to make sure concepts are developed and developed well. Most of us now have taken our skills elsewhere where we can have equity and be treated justly. We live in a patriarchal country and if it wasn't for government involving themselves in most industries and making sure women have equal opportunity - ALL industries would be like the entertainment industry. It's simple: the industry is the way it is because it is NOT regulated so those in power easily get away with pushing preferential treatment instead of a merit based approach. It's that simple.

    Fantastic interview, Mpho! I really think that Sonia should do a podcast on this issue. It is HUGE. There are so many elements to it!She touched on societal pressures placed on women, and as a crew member, I see how societal pressures and the expectations that society places on women make it difficult for women to progress in an industry that demands so much in terms of investing our time to perfect our crafts, constant learning, networking and also mastering the business aspect of it.

    • @AndreaAltgayer
      @AndreaAltgayer 5 місяців тому

      I have seen and experienced"boys' clubs", but there are also incredible men in the industry who have always and continue to support me.We have incredible working and creative relationships. I think that one of the hardest things for us women to deal with is the social pressures of "having to tick all the other boxes" over and above constantly perfecting and mastering my craft. I choose to prioritise perfecting my craft as a camerawoman, jib operator, videographer etc.I'm happy to be on set at 4am and work 16-hour shifts, including on weekends etc.I'm more than happy to dedicate my evenings, weekends and time off to do courses, workshops and passion projects that I drive and spearhead myself.However, that leaves very little time for socialising and things that other people have time for.There are only so many hours in a day.

    I started Sista Bosso Magazine because of these issues, to give women a platform that they do not have to fight for. And guess what, Inmet men ALL THE TIME who try to convince me what a bad idea this is, some even go as far forcing us to feature them. It is seriously hard to be a woman, we fighy for roles in both relationships and work.
    But one thing we must never do, is give up. Keep your heads up basadi, we are winning, slowly but surely.

    • @just_by_luck
      @just_by_luck 5 місяців тому +1

      And that right there is the problem! business is not a charity organisation , it is wild to me how u think women shouldnt "fight" for success and opportunities just like everyone else .
      Men fight for things all the time the difference is we know life is hard and no one is gonna give us anything for free so we don't seat and complain about things not being fair , what's even funny is women have more programs than men to make them successful but yet they are still complaining . Men face ligit discrimination like jobs or position specificaly saying they are looking for women only , now that's descrimination but again we not out here complaining! Just imagine if there were jobs or positions looking just for only males ?! It will be in the news in the next morning with lawsuit and call for business to shut down
      Now I am not saying there are no horrible men out there trying to take advantage of the situation but there are laws in place to keep them in check.

    These conversations about female representation in various spaces are flawed… It’s like women are supposed to be given equal power whereas men have to fight for it every day.
    In this context of the video, no one is stopping women from being producers. But it takes a lot of work and investment. Question should be, do women want to be in those spaces? Are they willing to put in the work and sacrifice to be in those spaces?
    If this was genuine then women would make space for men in nursing, modelling, humanities etc… and vouch for equality. But they don’t.

From my perspective, definitely, being female is not a problem of being sidelined, there is more into it. Surely, there are more than 10 times male failing producers out there compared to female. And for that comes to probability and corruption relationships.

    That's how it's been from creation. Man NOT WOMEN IS THE DOMINANT CREATION. All through the Bible THE MAN IS WHO GOD QUESTIONS. When Eve was tempted and enticed Adam, God was angry at Adam. Many will not accept this BUT A WOMENS PLACE IS AT HOME. IF SHE NEEDS TO KNOW ANYTHING SHE SHOULD Ask HER FATHER OR HUSBAND. I am a Child of Christ and it His mandate that I follow NOT THE WORLD'S VIEW. I don't care what the world thinks of me. .. WHAT CHRIST HAS DONE FOR ME NO ONE ON THIS ENTIRE EARTH CAN MATCH.

    It's so funny that some women think they could catch up with men and what they have built.😂

    If men don't want to work with women why must men be forced to??? People should be free to work with who they want to work with without it being a problem. Last time I checked women don't want to date men and prefer to be single, and it's their right and their choice, and Nobody is forcing them to be in love with men. Why then must men be forced to work with Women if they don't want to?? Give men the same rights and freedoms. Please.

      Are you high? It's a free country, everybody should be allowed to work where they want to work, it's called a right. Choosing who I want to date is a personal choice. Men are also allowed not to date if they don't want to. Get off the drugs, please.
