Poor Herbie was completely misunderstood, he isn't aggressive, he is social and needs contact to other dogs. So good to hear how Herbie is being loved, appreciated and taken seriously. I love all animals and have two cats. I hate it when people say that cats don't bond or don't care about their people. Give Herbie a kiss from me, please!
I'm so so pleased that you and Herbie found each other💞 I'm desperately missing my beloved dog, but I'm not ready for my next dog yet. Not ruling it out because I know how much love and pleasure a dog can bring to ones life🙏🏼
Great story! Herbie is an amazing dog....and so lucky you chose him. I have a little white Chihushua, and a small Terrier mix...both rescues... I’m afraid Finny and Spencer are quite spoiled...as many really little dogs are... Neither is leash trained... In fact Finny, the Chihuahua does not like to walk. Fortunately, I have a nice suzed fenced in back yard for the little guys to play in. I am so glad my furbabies are in my life.... They have been such a blessing.. My husband died in January of 2014...and my guys have been a great comfort to me. I never come home to an empty house... 😊
I loved hearing all about Herbie and Max, too. Had 2 dogs, 1 Newfie & 1 shelter rescue German Shepherd + Papillion + Dalmatian mix (!). Loved them both & their very different personalities and styles. The mix, much like your Herbie, was a watchful monitor who was quite independent. The Newfie was more eager to please & food motivated, but at the dog park thought it her job to break up fights and keep the younger dogs from being “too” rowdy. They’re so fascinating. 😊 I’m sure Max & his partner & the baby will love the blanket.

I love Herbie! Great story. I'm a dog lover too. We rescued a "difficult" pup last year, but we were able to rehabilitate her with a good behaviorist trainer. I was a psych major, so it helped me to understand the techniques, but it's also important to do the homework--as Herbie's first family did not do. You are very commonsensical, Rox.

This was "timely". I really needed to hear about your rescue dog. We are in the process of replacing our rescued Irish Wolfhound who died suddenly a few months ago. There is so much to consider and you've given us some more questions to ask ourselves and the rescue shelter. I also wanted to mention that spring must have arrived in your area - You are no longer wearing a sweater!
I love your tale about your dog and its great to finally hear someone say that dogs are in packs and have pack behaviour. I have a pack of Shih Tzu. One day we were out for a walk and two staffies came running around the corner meaning business. The top dog at the time, a girl, she was maybe 8 ish then, saw them off. Their owner came around the corner wanting to know why his two tough staffies were being chased off by a little tiny weeny Shih Tzu! She at 11 now is in the top class at our obedience classes at our local training club. Shih Tzu are fantastic dogs and I would never be without at least one of them. My dogs also have stopped people being petrified of them and my neice who was petrified now lives very happily with two half brothers that I bred over the years. Its lovely to go see them all. That blanket looks really good, I will have to put it on my list of ones to do at some time! Thanks

I was so happy to see the notification of your video.. It’s early afternoon here, and you usually pop up in the evening... Must be the Tuesday thing.. Heriberto is adorable, and I enjoyed hearing his story.. He ‘s a winner.. I have two little digs,,,bith rescued from our local county animal shelter.. Fin is a whitecChihuahus, and Spencer is a Terrier mix..with some Chihuahua... They have been a wonderful comfort to me... The sad thing is that my Finny is getting old... The three of us are together all the time...
