The season pass and battle pass move super slow. Also the boss fights were more frustrating than fun, especially the Superman fight...that was atrocious. Still the traversal and gunplay make it so you can have a good time but it definitely needs more content. Kevin Conroy's Batman letter at the end of the game was a really nice touch. Nobody on UA-cam even mentioned it. When they showed the dedication to Kevin Conroy that really felt genuine. So not a $70 but definitely worth trying on a deep sale.

With this game, it's clear they were developing a Superman game that was canceled by Warner, just the fact that the events are in Metropolis is a hint for that. Consequently, Warner forced Rocksteady to make this game. Suicide Squad had been teased by Arkham Origins in a post-credits scene, so this game clearly should have been made by Warner Montreal. It was handed off to Rocksteady and then WB Montreal was working in gotham knight. The live-service game aspects, loot boxes, battle pass, that's clearly not Rocksteady's idea. Similarly, for the writing, it's no longer the same writers. The original Arkham writers were Paul Diny and the Rocksteady founders, and they knew how to write. The writer for Suicide Squad is an external person, and it's clear he didn't care about Rocksteady's saga. It's not even the same team anymore, other people have left the studio. Personally, I feel sorry for the studio having to make a commissioned game for Warner, and getting all the hate from the poeples. That's my take of the situation, but clearly, it's not surprising if it's true. Warner does this all the time, whether it's in movies, games, or other media. They constantly impose their choices on creators.
Is this misunderstanding or rewriting history? lol I don’t remember anyone being excited about Gotham knights or Suicide Squad, the reaction I remember from most people was more akin to “what? Why?”
I feel like Warner/Rocksteady listened to you directly Luke in how they literally changed their marketing tactics for Suicide Squad, it wasn’t until you mentioned how you would advertise the game that a few weeks later that’s exactly what they did.
I recall the same feeling for Suicide Squad that I had with Gotham Knights: wary, but optimistic. And just like with Gotham Knights, my anticipation plummeted once I saw some gameplay.
ill be honest seeing the original reveal back in the day with what was obviously braniac made me think a superman game by rocksteady was being made for a minute. then I heard Harleys voice and i immediately lost all hope. I felt more disappointment hearing her voice than when i found out some of my exes cheated.
You didn't know that WB execs were infatuated with the recurrent monitization trend that other companies like EA had followed and ignored the truth that SP aka single players don't want that in their games. Nor do they want their SP game studios forced to make multiplayer monitization games. If a company wants alive service game create alive service studio. Hire experienced live service developers engineers producers and directors. Hire those people and leave your SP studio and developers out of it. Now we hear that WB may make Hogwarts into a live service game. If they do that it will fail and the WB execs who pushed it should be fired.
7:50 Can't help but notice all the mobs just standing around doing nothing during this part. RS in their heyday seemed to think it was important to make the mobs look like they're an imminent threat, but these days, devs can't even bother.
Cyberpunk 2077 is the reason I watch Gaming news. I swore to know when a game is waving a 100x100m Red flag and punching it in my face. Maybe back then I just thought that Red flag is just their engine lol
When this was first revealed on Fandome, there’s another video with Sefton Hill presenting the first look at the game and from that bit I could already tell there’s been a change of vibe in the way he did it. He seemed less enthusiastic and not as confident in it as when he was in the Arkham era especially Knight. Now that he’s gone and the game has shown its true colors, I can probably see why
I got very lucky with Cyberpunk. I only encountered 4 or 5 bugs, that I noticed, but they usually were resolved by reloading the save. I had a ton of fun with the game at release. The only thing I could think as to why I had a great experience is that my computer is pretty mid. My computer could only run the game at 30fps no matter the graphic quality. Maybe it was just more stable at 30fps? I don't know, but I had no game breaking trouble with it and didn't understand what people were complaining about.
Probably because the best version was the PC version. I played it on a base ps4 and it was bad. I still had fun and beat the game and had a fun time but I had crashes and other stuff get in the way. I still stick by the game as being one of my favorite games but it wasn’t a finished game when it released.
@@RulerX.I get what you saying but if he didn’t talk about it the game would prolly die faster but he just keeps bring attention to it lol 🤣😂 so like he’s doing the marketing for them atp
I fell for Cyberpunk when it was announced and launched for PS4, because at the time I didn't have a new gen console. "It's CDPR. How can it be bad?". Then it came out and all I heard "Well you got it on PS4. What did you think was going to happen?". Don't give me that shit. Witcher 3 was on PS4. Horizon Zero Dawn was on PS4. Ghost of Tsushima! CDPR said repeatedly that it was gonna be fine. It took a lot for them to right that ship after that for me. Getting both current gen consoles helped with that. LOL But now Cyberpunk is one of my all time favorite games. I don't see that ever happening with SS:KtJL.
Today is the day you got me. I avoided Last of Us Part 2 spoilers like the plague. Wanted to play it on PC some day. Well, major warning for all the people like me, or the ones watching the show and excited to see what happens in the next season. This video seems to have a major TLOU2 spoiler coming out of nowhere. Really unfortunate.
If any good comes from Suicide Squad, is Rocksteady now knows what they are good at and what they are not. IF they ever decide to make another DC game, I'm sure it will be better than this.
I was out as soon as the announcement trailer released. The dialogue was atrocious in just those few minutes. Atrocious modern-ironic-disinterested dialogue + characters and team that are completely uninteresting + a typical modern "muh heroes are the bad guys" scenario = all the red flags.
If suicide squad took 8 years in development, that's around about the same time RDR2 was in development for, granted they are two very different games under different studios, but still just goes to show what happens when you don't have a clearly defined idea of what you want your end product too be.
I hate the game space now. You can't count on anyone or anything. Even if you like a game when it comes out (on the off chance a game works properly on release), they will probably change it and fuck it up. Like I love R6, but it is still changing after 9 years, and not just adding new operators. You constantly need to re-learn games and change your play style or loadouts or re-spec your skill tree. Annoying
Sometimes I can sit, listen, disagree then m9ve on but this time I can't just leave it... Firstly: gotham knights. There was lots of backlash prior to the games release. Devs did a gameplay reveal, and people popped off over the unconfirmed live service mt's. So yes, there are loads of suits because they did indeed talk back the live service game. Biggest criticisms when released was the locked 30 frames, some muddy textures and generic mission design. It was light on storytelling and there was a lot of grinding for crafting better gear. On the whole, personally speaking, I wish they designed this game to be a sing player open world story as you play through each character at deferring junctions of the game. I enjoyed the game controls and loved the animation, it feels fresher than the arkham games in this regard. (Controversial I know) Secondly; suicide squad. I think WB are the worst publishes in gaming right now. Clearly the envy rockstar and blizzard and want their piece of that cheddar. Rocksteady are not specialised in making games like this. Just like bioware aren't. Now WB want to churn the next hogwarts game into a live service game... so that's it, rocksteady do not make l/s games and we're forced into doing it. Everything else is just a by-product of that. I read a recent article from the devs who made the ori games, who spoke very candidly about the corporate greed in gaming now. Apparently they do not have shareholder investors so they don't have to push for maximum margins. They spoke on how as an example, they do not waste money getting more devs to show shareholders that they are growing when they don't need them. They went on to explain that this freedom away from shareholders also allows them to price their game more competitively and still have big gains in profit. The article also tprefrences Larian studios stance on the greedy models being adopted by publishers and how opposed they are. So this I think is the real story of suicide squad. I think they knew what they had to make, but didn't know how to make it thus the iteration you picked up from. Also the focus of story is not going to fix the glaring issue of the game and that is the mission/quest design. Generic, repetitive rubbish is the only way rocksteady can make a live service game period!
I think the announcement was the only thing that went right with this game. It was everything that followed that ruined the hype. From my perspective anyway.
I remember not being impressed with the trailer and its all been down hill from there. Lol. Looking back the trailer looks more interesting than the game that we got! Lol
Dude you gotta move on bro they can't hurt you anymore they have failed themselves and the audience giving this another minute of air time is just not worth it lol
A shame Rocksteady is done. Another casualty in the chase for a successful AAA GAAS game. Hope we see something interesting and worthwhile from the new studio formed by the founders; all this studio shares w the creators of Arkham games is studio name
Gotham knights and suicide squad’s failures are such fascinating cases. They share so much of the same problem that led these games down the path they’d take and yet still so unique in how they such in comparison to eachother. Gotham knights narrative was amateur and everything and anything you did in that game feels designed to waste your time to a disturbing degree but at least it had the vaguest shape of an Arkham game and its variety. Suicide squad doesn’t even have a real narrative, you just shoot and keep shooting and jumping around until something shock value happens for the twitch streamers to post reaction clips and write up essays over before getting right back to shooting and jumping.

I enjoyed it! I don't think it was amazing by any means, as there was a ton of repetition in the missions, but I think the character interactions were definitely a highlight.
I liked it too. People didn't even gave it a chance. And even if they did, they just did the bare minimum, and shit on it. Like I saw people complaining that the characters 'play' the same (I saw these same people spamming the same momentum ability trough the enetire game, because they didn't even unlock all the momentum abilities). Which is not true. Fully maxed, upgraded characters play very differently. Also saw people complain that the combat is slow. But there are ways to speed up the combat. You have to learn prfect timed strikes tho, that way your character will hit twice instead of once. Nightwing has a combat boost, which speeds up his combat, to a degree that it's difficult to control. ;P I really loved the character animations. I can recommend this game to DC fans, or fans of the four main character.
@@bloodyassault803 My fav was NIghtwing. His fighting style is so fast (if you unlock his speed boost powerup) I also loved his complicated history/feelings wirh Bruce, and the fact that he also had to deal with the expectations of him being the 'older brother'.
I’m glad even at that 1st reveal my thoughts were: “this does NOT look good, I don’t like this, I don’t wanna kill evil Superman I wanna play as Good Superman” & I was right.
I was skeptical from the very first trailer. None of the “humor” landed. It’s all that hacky Marvel movie humor that’s meant to target overly agreeable people who will laugh because they think they’re supposed to; not because they actually find something funny. And then the big reveal was that it was another “What if super heroes were evil” story that’s been done to death. Any hope I had that the game would actually be good was entirely based on me giving Rocksteady the benefit of the doubt because of how good their Batman games were, but at no point did I ever think anything they showed for Suicide Squad looked good.
gotham knights was bland and repetitive but at least it looked gorgeous, even that shot of the penguin office looks so detailed, and gotham looks stunning and one of the closest its comics counterpart. Not much to save in the story, and the gameplay was super repetitive. SS doesn't even seem to have any of that, has no style, UI is horrendous, and it's monetised to death. they managed to make GK a good game in comparison to SS
Well I don’t know i liked suicide squad was it over the top no not even was it grinding oh yes, it was but it wasn’t as bad as people making it out to be specially how games are nowadays they get will get better over time since the pandemic is over and people can get back to work
The whole premise of the game is just so unappealing in my opinion. If they had a Justice League member trying to save the rest it would have been a whole different story. That and if they actually made it into a campaign driven single player experience. Could have been spectacular because clearly a lot of effort went into the graphics. It's a shame they turned it into a free to play type design disguised as a AAA game.
I pre ordered this game was so excited came closer started seeing all the leaks and I was alright can’t be that bad then everything I feared about it I canceled my pre order and watched a few reviews to change my mind for every 1 good review I saw thirty bad ones that’s when I knew I made the right choice

One of the reasons why I bought a ps5 is because of these 2 games announcements, bruh. I didn't even buy both games
I remember being so disappointed when this was announced
Is this misunderstanding or rewriting history? lol I don’t remember anyone being excited about Gotham knights or Suicide Squad, the reaction I remember from most people was more akin to “what? Why?”
U gotta do this reflection for all these SCAM games! Everyone forgets the initial promise! Our brains are limited!
Even at this stage I thought it was gonna be trash. 4 characters = looter shooter. The writing on the wall was even back then.
I had the same idea and revisited Fandome last week to remember if everything happened the same
ill be honest seeing the original reveal back in the day with what was obviously braniac made me think a superman game by rocksteady was being made for a minute. then I heard Harleys voice and i immediately lost all hope. I felt more disappointment hearing her voice than when i found out some of my exes cheated.
No company or developer can be trusted, none. It's a sad world folks
When announced it had so much potential.
It never had any potential. It was made by sweet baby Inc. in a rocksteady skin suit. It was always DOA.
We gotta move on from this game.
We got to remind everyone what NOT to give to your audience. Especially since they had such amazing games prior to this.
@@RulerX.I get what you saying but if he didn’t talk about it the game would prolly die faster but he just keeps bring attention to it lol 🤣😂 so like he’s doing the marketing for them atp
Less players than a high school BUT ITS GOOD, LETS KEEP MAKING LIVE SERVICE.
Lmao those WB Execs who demanded this game must really be scratching their heads right now
always instaclick when Luke farms more content about suicide squad, never disappoints x)
You'd think after this game as well as the whole starwars BF2 and TLOU2 fiasco, people would learn not to get excited over game trailers again
I miss the days of good superhero team games like the original X-Men legends and Marvel ultimate alliance games
Arkane with redfall...😢 The makers of dishonored...
they never made dishonored, you dummie. they made prey.
Love when Luke literally spells it out. Looks like it's almost in crayon. LOL.
You know Luke's serious when he whips out MS Paint.
I was out as soon as the announcement trailer released. The dialogue was atrocious in just those few minutes. Atrocious modern-ironic-disinterested dialogue + characters and team that are completely uninteresting + a typical modern "muh heroes are the bad guys" scenario = all the red flags.
Yep, that + evil Superman...again, this is just the fourth or fifth time in about a decade.
(Controversial I know)
Secondly; suicide squad.
I was out the minute they announced the game.
For a game people don’t like, they love talking about it 😂
This lol 👏👏 or somehow he’ll find a way to bring it up lol
Welcome to UA-cam ya dunces it’s a review about a crap game
Its like watching a burning building.
@@TheForever206 yes but eventually you move on .. I don’t think he can lol 😂🤣😭😭
@billwalker1000 true but the season 1 update was like adding fresh building to the already burning building.
Hey dude your content is pretty cool. I like your demeanor keep up the good work.
sweet baby Inc happened
I think the announcement was the only thing that went right with this game. It was everything that followed that ruined the hype. From my perspective anyway.
I remember not being impressed with the trailer and its all been down hill from there. Lol. Looking back the trailer looks more interesting than the game that we got! Lol
Dude you gotta move on bro they can't hurt you anymore they have failed themselves and the audience giving this another minute of air time is just not worth it lol
Really milking the fuck out of this huh
Caboose will die on the suicide squad hill 😂
The developer team wasn't doing anything after the trailer dropped, just sat on their thumbs.
If Gotham knights was live service and Suicide squad was a story game Both games would have been better in the long run
Probably. I wish we could have gotten more case files in Gotham Knights. The ones we got were very good in my opinion.
This game never look good no gameplay only cutscenes when they show it
The moment I read this game was going to be a live service game, I stopped caring about it
Cyberpunk came back tho
From Software releasing a flop would be hilarious
demons souls and bloodborne were flops, despite loud minority who wont shut up about them. like bloodborne is almost 10 years sold less that the last of us 2 in 1 week.
@@vault29a thats NOT what they mean by flop in the gaming world. They are talking about QUALITY. Games are a flop if they arent good games.
@@vault29ayou have to realize fromsoft didnt spent 1/10 of what noughty dog spent on their game... So no, its not a flop... Compared to gta every game is a flop then, or is it?
@@vault29aYou can’t just expect a game is a flop if it didn’t earn as much as another game. A flop is dependent on the quality of the game and the budget they had for it.
I wasn’t to impressed seeing this was a pre-render. Even after I saw the real time 60fps cutscenes I still was gonna wait on gameplay….. & oh boy
I think I'm the only person who legitimately liked Gotham Knights 😅
Nightwing has a combat boost, which speeds up his combat, to a degree that it's difficult to control. ;P
I really loved the character animations.
I can recommend this game to DC fans, or fans of the four main character.
I enjoyed it too story wise. I enjoyed playing Red Hood, and in my next game. I'm doing Batgirl
@@bloodyassault803 My fav was NIghtwing. His fighting style is so fast (if you unlock his speed boost powerup)
I also loved his complicated history/feelings wirh Bruce, and the fact that he also had to deal with the expectations of him being the 'older brother'.
I think the reason this game got delayed its because some staff decide to put a diversity on this game and make the game bad
Go outside lol
That has nothing to do with anything here
Everything. Literally everything.
I’m glad even at that 1st reveal my thoughts were: “this does NOT look good, I don’t like this, I don’t wanna kill evil Superman I wanna play as Good Superman” & I was right.
oh too bad buddy. someone needs to grow up.
The answer to your question: BabyInc...😂😂😂
Is it feasible for GTA VI to be bad since the possibility of it being there
What went wrong? Everything. There is a one word answer to this
Shouldn't expect anything in the games industry. Yet lots of people are foolishly expecting great things from gta6
Just saying
Well I don’t know i liked suicide squad was it over the top no not even was it grinding oh yes, it was but it wasn’t as bad as people making it out to be specially how games are nowadays they get will get better over time since the pandemic is over and people can get back to work
The whole premise of the game is just so unappealing in my opinion. If they had a Justice League member trying to save the rest it would have
been a whole different story. That and if they actually made it into a campaign driven single player experience. Could have been spectacular
because clearly a lot of effort went into the graphics. It's a shame they turned it into a free to play type design disguised as a AAA game.
I pre ordered this game was so excited came closer started seeing all the leaks and I was alright can’t be that bad then everything I feared about it I canceled my pre order and watched a few reviews to change my mind for every 1 good review I saw thirty bad ones that’s when I knew I made the right choice
with 80+ hours all achievements ive been loving the game + season 1 its fun and addicting
Your face in the thumbnail is so awkward lol
The second Harley appeared in the trailer the game immediately looked like shit lmao
Literally everything was wrong with this game.
So basically, this whole franchise was one big CGI story????
The solution might be quite simple:
Stop.
Pre-ordering.
Videogames.
that is not the problem 💀💀
In another timeline Suicide squad is an Amaizing game
How come we never get a superman or iron man game??
I would love to zip about the skies in a game.
But no all we get is grounded based hero games.
Ironman is prime for a video game!!
The size of the elephant in the room is incalculable
That light was warzone and it was free
Wow that trailer aged like milk on a hot summers day.
Uh Joker Gay. Question answered
Well our spark of 202p was doom eternal
Luke speaking nothing but 🥶 honest takes on this disappointmenting game thank you luke 💯
Sefton Hill went insane
