      Incredible!
I don't know anything about sewing or pattern making and I simply understood everything.
I inherited a sewing machine and I wanted to try it, even if just for fun.

Hii!! I'm a student in the Textile and Apparel Department and I was facing a lot of difficulty with making a basic shirt pattern, let alone a shirt. The first shirt I made was a complete failure. A friend of mine was also having a hard time with the shirt-making process, but she came across your video and she made one of the best handmade shirts I've seen in my batch. She recommended me your tutorial, and I was surprised to find out how easy it is to make a basic shirt. The way you explain what needs to be explained, the video footage and the step-by-step tutorial was, simply, flawless!! I'm also in a desperate situation where I need to show a sewed shirt for evaluation soon, and I wouldn't have done it quicker if I didn't see your video. From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU

Brillant tutorial! Two things I might want to add: if you measured your shoulder depth, i.e. how much lower is your shoulder on the furthest point than where it meets your neck, you might be able to shorten the trial and error phase quite a bit regarding that detail.
Also: if you make your first prototype of just the bodice before drafting the sleeves, you can fix issues with the armholes without having to redraw a sleeve that wouldn't fit anymore after the adjustments.

I am just getting back into sewing, as I am one of those odd sized guys that nothing off the rack ever fits (think short, fat hobbit dude). Patterns for someone as off the scale so far as measures go are literally impossible to find, so I'm in this area of want (need) for creating my own patterns to work with.
What you just gave me was more valued and deeply appreciated that you will ever know, and I don't exaggerate. I now have that little "guide" via this tutorial on how to correctly fit my patterns; so that they fit my strangely odd measurements. This also gives me a better idea as to how I can alter the clothing I have hanging in my closet that are ill-fitting and in need of shortening and narrowing (when it comes to the neckline...widening).
My humble thanks. You helped a pretty frustrated man today who was just about to give up on being able to wear shirts that actually fit. Thank you so very much.

I noticed in the description that you provided a link to the shears that you use. My mother supplemented her income for years by sewing custom fitted clothing for her patrons. She was quite good and took it seriously I suppose because I'll never forget one day when she caught my brother and I cutting cardboard with her shears. She let out the most blood curdling scream I ever heard which scared us and sent my father running to see who had been murdered. Some people are really attached to their tools. 🤣

One advice on taking measures, taking it several times is a great tip, but I'd also compare your measurements with a size chart from whatever book you follow. That allows you to make sure you are didn't measure incorrectly and have a value off by too much.

This is an excellent presentation and explanation. A couple of my students are from indigenous cultures in which there is no written language, so explaining math concepts takes some skill since math is understood quite differently in their cultures. Also, I think for any student, it is helpful to hear the repeats of the information from different teachers, because it helps memory. New students are acquiring both information as well as “muscle memory” as they learn to use tools. I use a .3 mechanical pencil for consistency, and I encourage students to use a mechanical pencil because as the yellow pencils are worn down and sharpened, the thickness of the line varies. When there is a fat line abutting or crossing a thin line. Students often are not consistent when they measure from one side of each line or the other throughout the pattern. Differences as small as 1/16” duplicated four or more times, can eventually add up to quite a difference. I also encourage them to first place the point of the pencil on the paper, then align the ruler next to the pencil lead, and then draw the lines. And remind them to take an overall look to see if they have consistently lined up and drawn the line so that it intersects with the point marked for same, rather than alternating the side of the point where they lineup the ruler and mark the line. I learned all this from the late Roberta Carr who had some very interesting stories about how to mark and draw lines. I look forward to your other videos!
