The fact that this information (formatted in such a succinct and peaceful way) is free..?! Thank you!!
I'm happy to hear it's of value to you :) Thank you for watching.
Incredible!
I don't know anything about sewing or pattern making and I simply understood everything.
I inherited a sewing machine and I wanted to try it, even if just for fun.
Gained one more subscriber.
Agreeeeeeedddd
I'm happy you folks appreciate it. Thanks for watching.
not just that, but the video editing and speech are such flawless that you can see he really has a passion for what he's doing, the guy is a legend
I have no idea why I'm watch this, I know nothing about sewing, but I'm just mesmerized by the way you present.
Well you are very kind. My work here is then officially done :)
Это так) я вообще английский не знаю
@@borisbritva9417 Вы не говорите по-английски, но все равно смотрите? Удивительный
Your tutorial is literally the only one I've found on UA-cam that actually explains WHY sleeves are drafted as they are and how to adjust for angle and how to match the armscye in a clear and simple way.
I am happy to hear that my video is of use to you. Thank you for watching and hopefully your pattern turns out as you wish for it to fit :)
I went to artschool to do visual communication, i like it but halfway through i found out that i really wanted to be a fashion designer above all. Unfortunately my life hit a long rough patch and im ashamed to say i didnt fight back the way i should have for a long time...11 years to be exact. I found your channel on instagram a year ago and was blown away by your talent. Im at fashion school now. Thanks to our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ i made it and your videos have been the only true source of inspiration and help, i strive to be like you one day. God bless You Mr. Quiring.
Thank you for sharing a bit about yourself. It's great to get to hear from the folks, like yourself, watching my videos. Good on you for being able to make it back onto the path that you desired. It's less about the time and more the fact that you eventually did.
I have been at this for hours now and finally I made my own pattern. I am beyond thankful to you. You are the most amazing teacher I have ever come across. I would never miss a class if you were a teacher. After skimming through 50 tuts I finally decided I will try this one and god, it has got to be the one of the best decisions of my life. I appreciate you so much. ❤ thank you for being so amazing!
Good on you for drafting your own pattern. I am glad to hear that my video was of use to you. Thanks for watching.
i cant believe i found a 40+ min video ONLY on sleeves for free! This is gold! Thank you so much! Ive always had to make adjustments on my sleeve patterns and never found a source on to how the modifications alter the final piece itself, thanks!
Oh, wonderful, I am happy that this video is of worth to you. Thanks for watching and hopefully you're able to sort out your sleeves, as desired.
I'm such a newbie, and I've been wanting to sew for years - I finally decided to start by patching my boyfriend's jacket. Neither one of us can find clothing with necks and sleeves that fit, and that's a big factor of why I want to learn. How is the process going for you?
You're a natural teacher. Clarity. Relaxed approach to the complexity of good sewing. Thank you
You are kind, thank you.
Brillant tutorial! Two things I might want to add: if you measured your shoulder depth, i.e. how much lower is your shoulder on the furthest point than where it meets your neck, you might be able to shorten the trial and error phase quite a bit regarding that detail.
Also: if you make your first prototype of just the bodice before drafting the sleeves, you can fix issues with the armholes without having to redraw a sleeve that wouldn't fit anymore after the adjustments.
I appreciate your thoughts and you bring up some good points.
I'm 21 years old guy I know nothing about sewing just today my mother taught me how to do a basic stitch just so I can fix my own socks lol but i think I'll give sewing a chance it seems so interesting and such a Great life skill to have
Good for you on getting started! If you put in the effort, it can be quite rewarding and empowering. Happy sewing my friend.
me watching this so i can make little clothes for my monster high draculaura doll: ✍️👁👄👁
Have you made the clothes yet, does it like them
I have absolutely no experience in sewing and I found this excellent. Even if I do nothing in this field such excellence deserves at least subscribing.
You are kind, I am happy to hear that my content is engaging and entertaining for you. Thanks for watching. 🙏🏻
Showing the sleeve pattern curled into a diagonal-cut cylinder is very smart. I'll be using that next time I teach shirts. Thanks, great videos.
I’m glad I’ve found this guy, ever since I’ve seen how his informative presentation is, he’s my go to design teacher. I’ve learned so much for a beginner clothing designer.
I'm glad to hear it.
By far the most detailed yet straight to the point video of a basic block. Better than what I've been taught at school 😅. Thank you so much
Oh wonderful, I'm glad to hear it!
I've tried sewing garments before and have always found the process so stressful and exhausting, your gentle approach and calming music (along with the detailed information about why the pieces are shaped as they are, fit fixes and pattern adjustments) are really helping me have less anxiety and get back into sewing! Thank you!
I'm glad to hear it. You got this!
I noticed in the description that you provided a link to the shears that you use. My mother supplemented her income for years by sewing custom fitted clothing for her patrons. She was quite good and took it seriously I suppose because I'll never forget one day when she caught my brother and I cutting cardboard with her shears. She let out the most blood curdling scream I ever heard which scared us and sent my father running to see who had been murdered. Some people are really attached to their tools. 🤣
Ha! Yes, a tailor's sheers are more precious then gold :) Thank you for sharing a personal moment with us in the comments here.
This video couldn't have come at a better time, been putting off starting on my first shirt for ages now and this is the push I needed!
Sometimes, things just come together perfectly :) Happy to hear it and let me know how it goes when you do.
Brilliant explanation of the sleeve pattern shape's origin--from the column sliced at an angle, then vertically. So clear!
Oh, wonderful, I'm glad to hear that it made sense to you. Thanks for watching and happy sewing.
Great to see you continuing this tutorial series, they're some of the most clear drafting tutorials on UA-cam I think.
I've already been experimenting with shirts circa a few months now. I can't wait to see your ideas about the collar, it's a very tricky area with lots of three-dimensional stuff going on, very sculpture almost.
Oh nice, I hope your shirt-making is going well or at the very least, you're seeing progress. Indeed, it is challenging. I've spent the past few weeks dialling in details on my own patterns. Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching.

Never have I seen a tutorial/lesson explained so well. Thank you. I just got into Cosplay and this knowledge is going to help immensely. Subscribed, liked, and so forth! Thank you.
I'm glad to hear it. May your future projects only get better! :)
12 days of giving began with a little something for Cornelius. Editing Corn gets most of it. Impressive videography, editing, camera angles, lighting and audio get the recognition for enjoyable viewing!
Yes, very generous indeed and I'll make sure to pass along every coin. Thank you. Also, he's blushing with all the kind words about his efforts. He say's thanks as well :)
Oh wow, I‘m just working on your how to draft men‘s pants and thought how awesome it were if you did more tutorials like this. :-)
Your style of explaining is so easy to follow and I‘m very grateful that you provided both inch & cm. Looking forward to do this one as well! Thx!
Oh, nice. Well, I am happy to hear that you are using the pants video and hopefully this one delivers for you as well. Keep me posted on how both projects turn out, it's always nice to hear from people who use the content.
Your method is very interesting and enlightening. What I also appreciate is your ability to teach. You explain each step slowly and methodically, you show how to make adjustments, and you offer insight about how to back out of situations that beginners will likely encounter. Thank you!
You are kind, thank you and I'm glad my content is of use to you. Thank you for watching as well.
Beautiful crafting 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻

This is brilliant, you've answered all my questions! I'm just preparing to start sewing again after a 6 month break, so I've come back for more of your excellent tutorials. Thank you!
Oh nice, I'm glad that my content was of use to you. Also, I am happy for you that you're back at your machine. Thanks for watching my video.
@@CorneliusQuiring Couldn't say it better myself, thank you so much for that video! I'm working on a dress with puffy shoulders, any link recommandation i could learn from?
Thank you once again!!
This is probably the most informative and well done video on shirt making I have seen. I'm going to go watch all your other videos now!
I'm chuffed to hear it. Thanks for watching.
I started watching this to help me with designing a nice modern tailcoat (I was also watching your video on that as well) but then started zoning out because your voice is so soothing
:)
What a great video, so clear, calm conscience and filled with information on good drafting. Thank you for taking the time to share
And thank you for watching! I'm happy to hear it.
Cornelius, thank you so much. I just found you on UA-cam & am now a subscriber!! I've been searching for the type of videos you have posted on constructing men's clothing. Now I can make my spouse's shirts for Christmas this year. You are wonderful and know your youtube channel is a blessing to sewist's like me. Again, thank you, thank you, thank you!
Oh wonderful, I am glad to hear that my video was of use to you. Thanks for watching and make the shirts for him turn out great!
My guy.. you are a real joy to listen to and learn from. I had my great grandmother's vintage sewing machine passed down to me and I've been trying to learn how to alter and make clothes - thank you for putting your stuff out there!!! You're good at this! Please keep it coming!!
Thank you for the kind words and thank you for watching. It sounds like you have a wonderful quality machine. Good luck with the alterations and sewing adventures.
This is Gold Standard for tutorials! The best….
Howdy Corn. This is one of those sewing tasks that’s given me a sewing mind block, dunno why. Your hard work makes it possible. I haven’t done it yet but, I will.. Thanks as always.
Well, I am glad to hear you see value in this video. Thanks for watching and good luck with your draft.
This tutorial of drafting a pattern for a top is just as good at the one on trousers.... you make it so easy to understand and follow. And I just love it. I have sewn a few garments using the Lutterloh system, and are satisfied by that, but are going to try my hands on your way next... Christmas is coming up, so it will be a new shirt for that.
Oh, wonderful, I'm glad to hear that you appreciate my efforts and thank you for watching. Let me know how it goes if you end up using this video. Also, I haven't heard of Lutterloh before, I'll have to check it out!
I simply can’t rave enough about your fabulous videos! Precise, To the point, and technically sound! Thank you, Thank You, Thank You!
Oh wonderful, I am glad to hear that my video was of use to you.
Very informative. I liked the fact that you explained so well the garment's malfunctions. That's the part that most videos like this are missing
oh wonderful, I am glad to hear that my video was of use to you. Thanks for watching.
literally just did your mens pants pattern tut yesterday. Excellent content as always.
Oh nice, well thanks for watching and thank you for the kind words.
Thanks man! Working on some truly tough but good looking clothes to match my lifestyle choices and these videos have been great!
Oh nice, well know that the challenge will be worth it. I too struggle with my own makes. Thanks for sharing a bit about yourself and thanks for watching.
this video is beyond awesome kasi chillax lang yung nagtuturo pero may vibe na kahit hindi mo iskip yung playback, arrive pa rin sa finishline.
🤠🙏🏻
After five samples / prototypes, I've finally made a linen shirt that I'm actually proud to wear. And I gotta say, I love the editing in your videos: no jump-cuts, no fast-paced attention grabbing shenanigans, just high-quality footage with succint, to-the-point, but nevertheless detailed explanations
Good on you! I'm glad to hear you kept at it. Also, thank you.
Thanks so much for this video! I truly appreciate the time and effort you take to talk through every detail and provide visual explanations. And to edit such a long video that is super easy to follow, and really you give us all that is needed to create the perfect shirt for our needs! And for free! You make a lot of people very happy, you know!
I sew a pair of pants with the guidance of your pants' drafting video (they turned out great) and for a long time was really hoping you would make one on drafting a shirt as well! And now you have! I will definitely try this out, and am also looking forward to the next video about creating a button-up shirt.. store-bought ones never fit me right. :D
P.S. I think it's cool that you keep the interludes short and informative, not dragging them out like many others do ;)
Thank you for the very kind words about my work. I appreciate you telling me. I am also glad to hear that your pants turned out well for you. Let me know how it goes with the shirt pattern once you get to it. I'm busy working away on the button-up shirt now and will post it once it's ready.
Thank you again.
Great video, thank you Cornelius! You really take the time to explain things clearly and the pace is perfect. You truly are a fantastic teacher, and the fact that you share it with the world says a lot about your generosity. Do you make custom shirts by any chance?
Thank you for the kind words and thanks for watching. For now, I am focusing my effort on creating this content only.

Cornelius!!!!! I so freaking love you!! I chance upon your channel n I LOVE it! I am a visual person n your explaination of step by step n also as to why, I can SO understand how to draft a bodice now. Most online tutorial n classes I go to, always assume I know the reason why of certain steps, n no explanation was given, n if I asked, they gave so technical whys, which made me even more confused. But you! You so patiently n calmly explained every steps! I so so love your tutorial! Thank you! Thank you! 💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖💖 You have me at first sight n follower now💖💖💖💖
That's awesome. I'm happy to hear that my video is understandable for you. Good luck with your project and hopefully it turns out well for you. Thank you for watching and sharing your thoughts.
It's really enjoyable to listen to what you tell about men's clothing, if you tell about the collar types on the shirt it's perfect.
I just had another person mention collars, so maybe I dedicate a whole video to this type of content :) Thanks for the kind words and thanks for watching.

Pure gold! Not only the how but the why…thank you thank you…custom fitting is so important for those of us out here with parts uneven!
I am glad to hear that my video was of use to you. Thanks for watching.
This is the perfect companion to the sewing books I have that talk about collars, pockets, buttons, and zippers, but don't actually talk about the rest of the garment. I'm used to just tracing the shirt that fits the most and then fixing where it doesn't really work (I have some teen clothes that fit okay, but the arms are too short). This should help me fix a few of those issues I couldn't quite understand what to do with.
I am glad to hear that my video was of use to you. I appreciate your resourcefulness. Thanks for watching and good luck with your future projects.
first of all, i like the country guitar sound on the background. You are so great a teacher. I am so new to sewing, in fact i don't know where to begin. I am so glad to begin with you after searching for a while. Thanks Man!
Oh wonderful. I am glad to hear that my content is of use to you. Happy sewing.
One advice on taking measures, taking it several times is a great tip, but I'd also compare your measurements with a size chart from whatever book you follow. That allows you to make sure you are didn't measure incorrectly and have a value off by too much.
This is a good point. Thanks for adding it in the comments. The book does come with a chart so that could be a good place to compare to.
This is sooo detailed and informative!! I haven’t tried making men’s wear yet, but this pattern making tutorial make me wanna try 😍
Oh nice! Well, hopefully you do get around to it :) Thanks for watching.
