Pere Marquette 1225 Steam Engine Hands on the Throttle Event with Caboose Hop!

June 2024 finds the Steam Railroading Institute hosting a 1 hour Hands on the Throttle Experience with a complimentary hat! The crew walks you through how to operate the steam engine, and then has you take control of the steam engine and run in their yard in Owosso, Michigan.
At the same time of the Curwood Festival, the Yard Goat Caboose Train rides along with an open house for the grounds is ongoing from June 7-9th. This is running on the hour, and was pulled by 25-ton Switcher named Mighty Mouse. You also get to spin around on the turntable.
Pere Marquette #1225 was built in 1941 by Lima Locomotive Works in Ohio, and has been the stable for the Polar Express trips, and also used for the Warner Brothers film The Polar Express with Tom Hanks.
