Im watching this years after I’ve been in year 7 but it I had seen this in year six it would have been so helpful 😂❤ also you seem like such a kind a beautiful person ❤️
As a year 8 also, I have to say you're very mature both mentally and physically like most of my classmates look like year 5 and below. This video obviously does not apply to me anymore but one thing about the friends part in my opinion is that you shouldn't be too worried but always factor in the possibility that you may have no one to talk to for your first few weeks, I did not go to a school with any of my primary friends so this was the case for me and as I'm shy I can't just go up to someone and ask them to be my friend, I'm sure no one will have that confidence in year 7, whether they're a confident person or not. My advice is, even if you feel that no one is your friend just like stand near people because you don't seem lonely and if the people in your class have already made a friend group they may start talking to you too! I did not do this in year 7 much at all and I hope no one else does. Off topic considering I was just talking about the concept of making friends but one thing that definitely shouldn't be on your mind is the work level, yes the difficulty will increase but barely, I find that I could probably have managed year 8 work when I was in year 5 (I will admit I am a bit strong in academics). Also, even if you don't do well on assessments and work in general in year 7, don't worry, as it is one of the earlier years it doesn't matter, year 9 is when the work matters more and it is very important in year 10 and year 11. Also, don't have a big ego in year 7 because I guarantee you will be made fun of since you're basically a little kid compared to everyone else and the older years will assume that you're extremely annoying and immature so try to avoid them. That's all I wanted to say and this is coming from someone who was unlucky and did not get into any of my school choices as pupils were picked by chance instead of by doing exams, I go to a private school that only has one class for each year group and the classes only have 16-22 people max so it'll be very different in bigger schools. Thanks for replying, I wrote this comment about a fifth of the way in the video so I kind of repeated a lot of what you said, my comment was probably pointless. Sorry haha.

Good advice I remember being scared of getting detention 😂 I would do everything not to put a foot wrong did all my homework didn't talk in lessons. By the end of year 7 she gave me 2 more Lunch ones for talking and uniform. Then I got 1 from my form tutor and a textiles teacher so 5 in year 7 overall
i never had detention in year 7 (it was the 2020/21 year so covid was rife and they understood it was hard and didn’t pressure us. we also had online learning so it wasn’t possible for a few months) in year 8 i got 3 detentions for being late and not having the required equipment. in year 9 (currently) i’ve had 2 (was 15 mins late to english because i was tired and thought it was lunchtime so i was chilling. second detention was when forgot my pe kit twice when once is a warning). i should have gotten more serious but my mom got me out of a few uniform ones and my form tutor got me out of an equipment one. i’ve never had homework detention since although there’s been times when i didn’t hand it in on the due date, i did manage to do it and hand it in by the next day.

I’m so scarred most of my friend group is going another school and I feel so left out they will all have eachither and I have no one I’m rlly scared and stuff
As someone who has dealt with this situation (last year) don’t be nervous! The first two or three weeks I sat alone and it was awkward but I eventually got closer with this girl in my class called Aayu and now we are best friends, which led me to being in a friend group with people who are nice, humorous ( damn I sound like a 30 yr old lady rn what the sigma 😭💀 ) anyway so everything will be okay and I’m super shy so if ur not you’ll probably make friends faster! Just be kind, yourself and make sure you focus on ur work too 🫶🏻
I just started y7 this week and I’m rly stressed about it cuz the work is to difficult and I’m rly stressed cuz I’m not organised and I feel like everyone is judging me I also think I might have anxiety and adhd
I understand this feeling. I still feel like this in year 10. It feels really hard to feel ‘normal’ I always feel like an outsider. People think I’m weird and very distracted and hyperactive. I ended up not having friends until mid year 9. I’m so happy I finally have friends but sometimes I do feel like they don’t actually like me although they probably do. I’m trying to say, don’t go my way. The only way I ended up getting friends was being kind and being myself. Just be yourself and people who like you will end up being your friends and don’t worry about what people think because if you do it to much it becomes a habit and will be hard to get out of. I hope your secondary school journey goes well and I wish you the best. Be Kind❤Be Happy❤Be You❤
That one about loners sort of got to me. I'm in fourth year (Year 10 in the English system) and spend a lot of time alone because I'm autistic and want that. Being bothered is an easy way to lose myself. I'm not saying don't talk to people who are alone, but be respectful of their space. Not trying way too hard to fit in is a big one too. You have a good chance of just being a bother to those people, and they do not care about you, and if you ever get thrown out, it does not go well. And if you're neurodivergent like me, don't mask. It makes things so much worse. And with older students, you're best off steering clear of that entirely. The bother thing applies here too, but if you think you're hard, and if you're a first year, you're not, you'll just get a reputation for being irritating. And if you do get accepted by older students, those often are not people you want to associate with.
Hey there! I want to ask, if i have alot of friends in y10 and im a y7 (or gonna be) how often should i hang out with them? I wanna be around them but i wanna socialise with others too.
This helped my sooo much i was home schooled for 4 years i'm going in to year 7 in september and i had noo friends at all so this really encouraged me tysm❤❤❤❤❤🎉🎉
I’m in Y6 and im starting Y7 in September , but I’ve never had compulsory homework and I’ve already graduated, so i don’t know how t prepare myself for the homework , do you have any tips?
In year 7 the homework is (or atleast starts off) quite lightly, I remember in year 7 they would give us fun or simple tasks like to decorate your book (but this can also depend on your school) Don't expect piles of homework from the first day as they should be easy on you at first to adjust to secondary school. But when you do get much longer homework tasks DO NOT LOSE SLEEP over it. Think about how long you might take to do it and spend half an hour at a time and take breaks. And do not be afraid to ask for help from teachers too. Remember this is year 7 and the homework then is not too important (it's only gets harsher when you get to GCSE where it is more important) The teacher will not hold a grudge against you for years for some weeny little task that you didnt do in year 7. I can account to this as somebody who is in Year 11 going into year 12 in september (finished GCSE's now off to study A level) I have gone through the whole 5 years of secondary (some of it during lockdown too) I can assure that homework in year 7 is so unimportant compared what I had to do for GCSE (But that was partly because I was so unorganised XD) So don't lose your mind over it.
Been in 1st year (year 7) in Ireland for 4 months ( student from “mercy secondary school ballymahon” and here are my thoughts, - people are significantly more trouble making compared to primary school -people go all out for relationships (seriously) ;I would normally get a headache from all the perfume in the classroom (the teachers don’t open windows) -the teachers care more about the students who struggles and completely ignores the ones doing well -you can fall asleep really easily in class -I would say I learned more in these 4 months than my 8 years of education in primary school (especially maths) ;primary was so boring now that I think of it -teachers care more about your attitude than your ability -teachers give no advantages to anyone (Shout out to my maths teacher (Dylan Mulvihill) who recommended this video to me).
I'm going to hear 7 tmrw and these tips help and at the school I'm going to if you don't have your pencil case in your hands or with you at all times you get a detention but for the first few weeks they just give u what u need
I dont get homework until y11 and only get detentions when we go as far as being violent, but im still really unsure about it :(( I _can_ get homework if I want though, so should I?
You're really lucky if that's the case, no, homework is pointless and in my opinion, since you're so focused on getting it done you don't bother to think about it and in turn do not learn anything.

Super helpful for me. Going to high school in a week or so, and have mixed feelings about it. Me and my friends from primary school are all going to go together, and some new year 8s are going to walk us there (my family and his friends). Been super nervous recently, have EVERYTHING prepared, even though there’s a feeling I’m missing something. Really comforted me, thank you 💕
First couple weeks are difficult the the last couple months are jokes
i will be in year 9 but i wish i had of seen these but like i struggle to make friends but i made 1 cause i went to secondary school but my year 6 class like none of them was in my class i made only 1 in year 7 but then she got moved to another class and after that i had none but im nervous for my new school i hope i do make friends though
do you think I should make an ‘advice for year 9’ video? since I just finished it and I’m now going into year 10 :)
@@aprilmayluvsu yes please but im nervous for my uhm new school since it wont be mainstream but like im still so anxious abt it
@Misszebyrobloxvideos756 I’m sure you will be completely fine I promise🫶🏻 just be yourself and try and stick to a few decent people, but if you don’t want to don’t be afraid to just keep to yourself and I’m sure you’ll settle in 🙃 (this is coming from a girl that moved around tons of schools when she was younger btw)
@@aprilmayluvsu kk and i know what its like to move schools but i only moved in primary to like 3 schools then my first time moving in years lol but im sure ill fit in since most kids will be like me like with different needs and stuff but i will try not to be nervous btw new subscriber

Girls I rly need some help I’m going into 1st year which is year 7 in Ireland and I’m rly excited my crush asked me out and now he’s my bf and I’m starting school with my best friend and our other friends but my best friend is really nervous and keeps telling me to be nervous aswell should I listen or will I be okay and there’s no need to panic
Pls reply ❤
Its completely normal to feel nervous, but don't let your friends influence how you feel
@@aprilmayluvsu thanks girl
Just be kind, yourself and make sure you focus on ur work too 🫶🏻
@@Chvsrlotte awe TYSM ur so nice x this rlly made me better 💗💗🥰🥰
my brother is going to yeah 7 and it’s makes me feel so old
i really don’t wanna be friends with some of my primary ones in secondary they don’t let me talk to anyone else i don’t know how i’ll make friends 😢

What happens if your friend you made, made other friends but your nervous to approach them aswell
I say just go for it! What's the worst that could really happen?
I completely agree with this!! Thank you for commenting :)
Hey there! I want to ask, if i have alot of friends in y10 and im a y7 (or gonna be) how often should i hang out with them? I wanna be around them but i wanna socialise with others too.
I'm not really sure sorry! But just try to balance it as best you can :)

I can account to this as somebody who is in Year 11 going into year 12 in september (finished GCSE's now off to study A level) I have gone through the whole 5 years of secondary (some of it during lockdown too) I can assure that homework in year 7 is so unimportant compared what I had to do for GCSE (But that was partly because I was so unorganised XD) So don't lose your mind over it.
thank you so much for leaving this comment! this is really helpful to me aswell haha! (i’m going into year 9). good luck doing your A levels!!

Glad this helped!
Been in 1st year (year 7) in Ireland for 4 months ( student from “mercy secondary school ballymahon” and here are my thoughts,
- people are significantly more trouble making compared to primary school
-people go all out for relationships (seriously) ;I would normally get a headache from all the perfume in the classroom (the teachers don’t open windows)
-the teachers care more about the students who struggles and completely ignores the ones doing well
-you can fall asleep really easily in class
-I would say I learned more in these 4 months than my 8 years of education in primary school (especially maths) ;primary was so boring now that I think of it
-teachers care more about your attitude than your ability
-teachers give no advantages to anyone
(Shout out to my maths teacher (Dylan Mulvihill) who recommended this video to me).

I’m going to year 7 tomorrow in the uk thanks for the advice
I dont get homework until y11 and only get detentions when we go as far as being violent, but im still really unsure about it :((
I _can_ get homework if I want though, so should I?
You're really lucky if that's the case, no, homework is pointless and in my opinion, since you're so focused on getting it done you don't bother to think about it and in turn do not learn anything.
