before I switched over to pumpkin seed oil and ever heard of mielle I used to make my own rosemary blend. Rosemary oil is very strong I had to mix like 2 drops with a 6 oz carrier oil like olive oil. I still have half the bottle left all these years later. If I mixed too much it would burn and thin the hair. Essential oils are not to be played with. they have to be heavily diluted.

That's what I was thinking about the oil...that some batches had too much rosemary oil for the amount of carrier oils used. Reminds me of those miracle drops...it was/is burning folks scalp and causing hair loss.

Thanks for clarifying the business side of these issues. I use Mielle products have no issues. Not this particular line just the moisture milk. I’ll withhold judgement until all the facts are known. I think this market and the constant need to follow trends is a huge factor. Folks need to go back to the simple things when it comes to hair care. I have and my wallet and my hair are doing just fine.

yep, my hair love love loves the rosemary line, im not going to stop just because some people have adverse reactions - that happens to everyone with certain products, I don't think it's as bad as people say it is. the rosemary line deep conditioner keeps my hair very healthy, same with the oil. i also have type 3c hair though - I am mixed, biracial, so maybe that's why.

I came to the comment section to say this exact thing. People always want to switch it up and follow new trends instead of sticking to what works. I’ve never used the rosemary line, but I have used other products from them and my hair is flourishing. I am wondering if the rosemary line is very potent and is being used by heavy-handed people. Maybe less is more with these particular products.

2 years ago today I had a washday. A few days later my hair was coming out in huge clumps and my texture changed. At the time I thought it was hormonal issues. Fast forward to last week I saw ladies speaking up about Mielle. I looked back at my hair journal and I used their cowash prior to the shedding and clumps. I’ve never had that reaction to my hair before or after. I’ve always been very careful about how I take care of my hair and health so I’m becoming more and more convinced the cowash was the culprit.

I tried the mielle products. Yes, my hair started falling out. Was on a great hair growth journey and it really pissed me off bc it had gotten so long. I started to make my own based on the major elements. I made my own rosemary oil with castor oil. It grew back. My hair got all the down to my but. I just cut off some inches and it feels great. Its still growing out so it isnt as thick as it was before using mielle but its getting there. It took nearly 2 yrs.

I think people need to definitely get blood work done to test their vitamin level. Also to find a routine /product and stick with it.

But the thing is the product is not purely Rosemary, if you look at the back of the bottle there is a list of different ingredients. If it was purely Rosemary oil then it makes sense to use a carrier oil. The fact that this product isn't means that the Rosemary oil is diluted. If people are complaining about hair loss and it's the same product across the board I believe them there is something that they added to the product that is causing the hair loss.

Buy some fresh rosemary and peppermint get your fav carrier oil. Put the rosemary/peppermint in a mason jar, add the oil until all of it is soaking in it. You can either put that in a pot of boiling water for 20mins, let sit for 30mins and boom, there you have it. You can even crush the rosemary, add it to boiling water for 10 mins, let steep for 10, add to spray bottle, spray hair after wash before conditioner. I’m telling you, you won’t regret it. Yes, you may have the money to buy these products but at what cost to your health. If your hair is falling out, what is it doing to your inside. Even if you get blood work done it can tell you what your deficient in and take the right stuff in your body to produce the beauty coming out, hair, nails…even your baby 🤷🏽‍♀💜

I've never used Mielle's hair products because they are too expensive, in my opinion. I don't believe that more expensive means better, or that you should have to pay alot of money to keep your hair healthy and retain length.
As a child my mom used VO5 shampoo, Blue Magic Cholesterol as a deep conditioning treatment, and Blue Magic hair grease as a styler and moisturizer, and my hair was strong, healthy, and past my shoulders.
I did try some of the newbies like from Shea Moisture, but I saw my hair felt more moisturized with my old school products than these newer ones. So I stick with what has always worked. Plus all my products together cost no more than 10.00 dollars and work well for me. It surly beats paying 10 to 20 dollars for a product that doesn't work.
Its messed up women are losing their hair though. I know all to well how traumatizing that can be. I went through it myself but it was due to high stress, and a autoimmune disease. I lost so much hair I had to completely shave the rest off. That was over a year ago and now with the right medication treating my disease, and I'm taking proper care of my hair, its growing back nicely.

@janeeseaustin3035 😂😂😂I may of gotten her products mixed up with another brand but yeah to me 10 is expensive for one product when your use to buying for less or you don't have much money to begin with. If all or most of her products is ten dollars alone for each individual product and you buy her whole line of five different products that adds up to 50.00 dollars which is expensive to me. Some of us including myself don't have that kind of budget to spend like that.

I had to read up on this today, specifically about the oil. Rosemary oil is very potent and from my understanding overuse will cause your scalp to become irritated and will make you hair fall out. It is recommended to put it on your scalp prior to washing and conditioning your hair. I put it on my temples after I lost my hair from covid. Only use the product for a total of 3 times since last year so I haven't noticed anything.

Very informative video. I have used the Pomegranate Honey line and the infamous Rosemary Mint Oil. I still use the former product line (as my hair likes the Pomegeanate Honey leave-in) but am apprehensive about repurchasing it now. I inherited a half bottle of the oil from my aunt years before the sale of Mielle to P&G and didn't have problems with it. I didn't purchase it after the half bottle was done (as it didn't seem to make a difference one way or the other).
I had one correction to make, the Rosemary Mint Oil is a ready to use oil. It's primary ingredients are two carrier oils (soybean and castor) and don't require additional carrier oils. So the TikTokers who said women who were directly applying it to their scalp were in the wrong are wrong themselves.

Love your review on this❤ I've never used any of her products at all. However, my bestie used the Pomegranate line and developed a horrible rash on scalp, and her face swole up badly a few yrs ago. For me, the way she and her husband went after the UA-camr LL for her personal review was out of line. Constructive criticism is a part of life. Get some thicker skin. Others still bought and liked it. Focus on them.
As far as the selling, that's her business. I think as a black consumer, we are rooting for these inventors and want to see them succeed, and a lot of money is spent. I think it frustrates many that lg companies love to swoop in after all the work is done and "take over" stating the person has a "say" in the business. But they don't completely own it anymore. Many of our inventions have been stolen or paid out with "them" holding the bigger bag, and they always certainly change something. It's the entire history behind it that I think bothers ppl the most. I pray a resolve happens for all involved and Mielle a continued success.

I'm not convinced the formulas are left untouched. If I'm not mistaken, the Honey Pot founder admitted because of the mass production and preservation method, the formulas had to change. I further believe formulas change because many of the products initially intended for textured hair, they have to make them more marketable for all hair types. I noticed it with Carol's Daughter and other brands. At this point, just use products that work best for your hair and create an effective regimen.

My hair has been shedding an breaking so bad and all I have been using for the longest is Mielle products and I thought it was due to hormones. I even have some new products I haven't used because videos like this have been popping up in my feed.

You can see a dermatologist and get a scalp biopsy and some vitamin testing… That’s what I did with hormonal androgenic alopecia treatment can make the hair loss worse than hair grows back thicker… You can look it up Rogaine and rosemary to shedding and then the new growth comes back thick.

I have been using the rosemary line and it is horrible for me. I used the mask and my hair was so matted, idk what happened. I had to another conditioner and took along time to de-tangle. It left my hair feeling rough and dry. The leave-in didn't help. I don't use the oil often but i do experience some some itching. I'm deficient in anything per my blood work.
I have been experiencing breakage but I didn't think it was the product. I will stop and see what happens.

I would get a professional blow dried cut maybe your hair was over cleansed. It sounds like the cuticle was damaged. I like rosemary for the scalp but not the actual strands because it’s astringent.

The reason their hair is falling out is because you do not leave oil on the scalp. You are supposed to cleanse it out with shampoo. Our scalp produces natural oil called sebum. And if that gets too excessive that causes hair fall. Do not take my word for it. Check out Cyn Doll. She made a video about this Mielle situation.

There’s no such thing as growth oil. Brittle and hard yet oily is how raw coconut oil made my hair feel so I stopped using it.

I think and only me. She pissed someone off in the youtube Natural hair community and now they are coming after her. It has nothing to do with selling out or anything like that because I am sure they all have Shea Moisture in their shower cabinet.
It's just a bunch of black women jumping this woman virtually.
They drag anyone who doesn't kiss their ring.
Yes, I used grease and nonblack mass market products.

I’m now seeing the lady who came against mielle years ago talking and it turns out it was more to the story than I thought…Originally we were led to think that she just received a phone call from the brand owners husband out of the blue after leaving a negative review and that her customer data was stolen… This was shocking and made me fear shopping with them… Now she shares that she actually had a working relationship with these people so now it makes sense how they had her information. of course the Mielle lady was in the comment section trying to work it out and give instruction on how to use the product… no wonder they wanted to sue her. Honey it had me not shopping with them the way it was told originally! I thought that they were stealing phone numbers!
People acted like she had left them positive review after positive review and was ignored for years and never acknowledged by Mielle and to me of course as somebody that loves the natural hair community on UA-cam and the work these ladies do I wasn’t down with that… I want to see them protected and compensated… so I stop shopping with them for years. Even though I really needed a protein conditioner. But it turns out she had worked with them before and also had said “here’s the price to take the video down!!!”
Now I know it’s normal for companies to pay for bad reviews to be removed but I kind of respect that they didn’t pay granted that they had a working relationship with her previously. that’s just kind of weird to go about it that way if you know what I mean. The young lady in question is now saying that the mielle owner told people not to work with her… Well yeah if a brand works with you and then you post a negative review and they try to discuss product being used in properly with you and there are other people in the comment section saying that the product is not being used properly and then you say pay me or the video it’s gonna stay up that’s a “money grab” if anything. If I were a brand I wouldn’t want to work with her based on what she’s saying. I may repost this comment… I feel like I was used as ammunition as a consumer.

So the women whose hair is coming out in clumps are faking it? Lying? With clumps of their hair in their hands? Are y’all hearing yourselves? Women from all over the world? Black women who are very very obsessed with hair? Steups.
