Regardless of the drop in animation, TOG is in a shit situation where it’s so dense and packed that a standard 13ep anime is such a disservice, there’s so much that gets left out even back in s1.
I wouldn't say it's bad but more mediocre. Ep 1 had some great action and effects animation and the baseball fight also had some nice cuts. But outside of the action it's really leaking in basic movement, Charakteracting and direction.
@@ChrisB-hb4zzWhat are you talking about if the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse, in addition to having good animation, dynamism and the most common expressions in the characters, was the anime that replaced Telecom studios with tower of God, also between S1 and S2 you can notice that S1 does that the characters are much more expressive thanks to the artistic style, if you compare the comedy scenes of S1 and S2 you notice more freedom of expression of the S1 How are you going to compare the 4 horsemen of the apocalypse with what season 2 of Tower of God is right now?
Except the cooking process is ruined. We are in a slow portion of the story already but the anime is just making all of it worse. The tone is weird as fuck. Tense scenes just don't feel tense at all like the friends meeting FUG. The payoff is just not gonna be there. I can already tell. Ja Wagnan is garbage compared to the Manhwa. @@_Dante._yeah this all was basically just buildup to the main story, and tbh it should get better from here. Even in the original webtoon the first couple chapters were a slob to get through, so I understand the frustration.
For most anime, it’s less about budget, but mainly about who they bring onto the team, like how Toei has talent like Vincent Chansard on their side, the time they give to the staff to complete the anime, and then of course like you mentioned, experience.
Yeah, while watching you can even see where it could have been better. Some drawings are weird, bad and overall very stiff animation sometimes. Like with the scene with Khun recruiting Dan. He was talking with sb. He could have just looked at the pocket while saying he needs to hung up bc of Dan and then looking at Dan again. It would have much more impact and feel more alive and not so stiff. I think the fighting scenes are pretty good, not stiff, very smooth and . That's when you can see the difference between the animators who have experience and doesn't have it at all. And I don't think that it's a bad thing. People for gaining experience must work . But I blame the director for this. He should have watch it and reccomend a small, little things that shouldn't be a problem for new animators to do and still gaining experience. Hopefully after the're will gain experience the're animation will be much better and not as stiff. And the animation changed because of the manhwa style change. S1 style was very different from current style of the author. It must have been changed for it to not that different. It was also changed bc of the feel. Tower of God was at first like fairy tail world that wasn't really known. But the Tower isn't a nice place. As we get much more later into the story, tower of god chage from light hearted friendship in a fairy tail world into the cruel, not as beautiful cage that people climb without any consideration to one another. It's tower of betrayal. From lying, betraying, leaving others to killing your friends, family, loved ones. It's a cruel world, but doesn't mean that there isn't place for kindness. That's what team Sweet and Sour represents. They are kind to one another. They bond with each other become friends and will sacrifice for each other. They become like family. That's what current episodes try to show us.
Bro I feel the exact same way about the show as you do. The animation went down from season 1, I remember when season 1 was airing, people were complaining about the art and animation. I thought the art and animation was good. I really like the art from season 1, I haven't seen an anime with art like that. It felt different, like it was its own original style. Season 2 the art feels more generic, like it seems like some regular anime. (Its hard to articulate what Im trying to say) Like it doesnt have that same feel, and like you said you can tell when a show has passion and really puts in the work for a show like they did in season 1, I dont think that same passion is there this season and it shows when I'm watching the show. I dont know the schedule of the anime studio and staff and the work the staff puts into a show but it just feels lackluster. Like you said, TOG made an announcement for season 2 like over a year ago, and it's been 4 years since the last season, so why does it seem animation looks so clunky? Like they just started working on it and had to rush to get it out? Like I said, I dont know much about the work anime staff and their schedules when it comes to anime, but maybe thats a reason why the animation looks like that. I dont want to completely just shit on the anime I will give it credit for one thing, even though they have cut out some of the scenes that Bam and his new team just chilling, they are sticking more to the webtoon and leaving out less cuts that season 1 did, so its more faithful to the source material than season 1 was.
The animation from season 1 to 2 matches the webtoon. Originally people hated the season 1 animation. Now they want it back. If you're angry at anything, be angry at the details skipped. Anyone who says Bam, instead if Bomb, doesn't read TOG.
@@TheLastCrow5150 More like be angry with the fans who complained about the first season. Season 1 was honestly perfect, but the fans cried so much that somehow generic style is best style.
I started reading the Manhwa after episode 4 when we saw Khun because I couldn't wait anymore. The reason this season is kind of ass with the animation is because the TOG fanbase killed the hype and the money-making potential of season 1. I went back and reread AND rewatched season 1 + some yt videos comparing the two side by side, to see what they left out of the original content, cuz mf was bitching about it so much online. They left ALMOST NOTHING out of the source material. The only thing they left out was some filler/useless dialog, but even then, the only thing they should have included (slight spoiler) was the few scenes of Endorsi (the short-haired orange princess) and Bam training together (since it's important for later on in the story, no more spoilers). Season 1 of TOG was almost an 11/10 adaptation, staying true to the original manhwa. However, because so many cringe fans and UA-camrs complained about it online, the original studio didn't want to work on it anymore, because they saw no money in it. That's why it was passed to another studio, who knows how much shit the anime got last time, so that's why they aren't putting any SOUL/PASSION into the animation/content. The studio currently animating it, can make some visually stunning scenes, but they never animated a shounen battel manga/manhwa, just some slice of life type anime. Genuinely, season one was so good, that the fact that people complained about it blew me away. Sad to see such a good anime, and studio get ruined by the shitty fanbase. Still holding out hope that the animation studio somehow, makes the fights look good (cut it aint looking good so far).
Thank you thank you it’s like anime used to be a minority but because now it’s seen as such a cool thing and accepted nowadays the flux of critics and online reviewers who aren’t of the culture of really versed enough to have e opinions on what good anime is ruin a lot of things with their complaining
You said it perfectly, I knew deep down the fanbase killed it. Sucks man we really could got a Season 1 into Season 2 treatment and would been so fine like wine. Now the series is kinda ruined imo because even if they do better Season 3 they kind of butchered season 2 with this and we all know they will not remake it
those endorsi x bam scenes that were taken out was a god damn crime against humanity okay every single endorsi x bam scene needs to stay in the show and get the whole budget fuck the fights man
They might have the art style because people were complaining about the art style saying that they dislike it. But all of a sudden when they reveal the new art style those same people say that s1 art style is so good.
@@bastard8892 It is actually. I've seen so many people complained about the art Season 1 had, apperently they like generic stuff cause its considered good. lmao like Season 1 captured the webtoon perfectly.

I just don’t like how they show the scale of the tower, like a lot of the shots are closed in and it’s hard to imagine where they are/ the setting. I feel like more time on showing the setting and setting the tone for each game is key, for me at least. But also the sound track in season one really helped emphasize the seriousness of certain scenes but for some reason without it in S2 scenes feel flat. And a lot of characters are just introduced with no type or lack of background, at least compared to season 1, like bro w the baseball is an administrator that hates fug. Cool but we never get insight on why, or why we should even fear fug. Like the evil group trope is normally done in a way that they appear more menacing, and important but we get introduced to members in such a boring and mediocre way it’s hard to even care for fug.
Bro yall hated season 1 animation so they changed it and NOW YALL WNET THE OLD ANIMATION BACK people can’t make up there mind for once😤anyways this season was good 9/10 I have no issues with the animation it looks why better then most anime I watched🤷♂️
Been waiting for this one, I agree with the animation and the colours. You acually made me realise, the colours were the one thing i found off with the show. But story wise, i feel like they kept the same energy. I feel like they are building up to some good shit. But season 1 was top 10, no doubts.
Agree to disagree but people saying it’s a flop are not manhwa readers because this adaption is nearly like 98% source material building into season 2. Everyone was waiting for the animation for when our boi Mazino shows up because THATs where we decide if it’s a flop, and so far that “I’ll play with you, Baaaaaby” gave everyone the hype we waited for, plus daddy jinsung appeared and Karaka in the background. Next episode about to be FIRE!!!
I’m a manwha reader and this season has zero passion behind it. The art direction is terrible. The Mazino fight was mid af tbh. So much stuff is skipped as well. Just an overall lazy and cheap adaptation.
The studio can’t even be bothered to animate what floor people are on 😂 I saw anime only’s confused thinking Khun’s team was still on floor three becasue that’s what floor of the house Rachel’s room is 😂 Like…How hard is it to add a simple info card to display which floor we are on when we switch scenes?? This studio does not care
I love ToG and I have so many reasons to hate the anime... They did my man Leeso so dirty that it hurts me. A dude so smart and perceptive that he became one of Koon's best friends and one that he deeply respects... Reduced to a bunch of awful and unnecessary jokes. Dude was shown as being a pure GENIUS on intelectual level and yet the anime exchabges the scenes that show it for "hurr me funny me ridiculous no one treats me as someone smart".
If only ToG season 2 got the same treatment as solo leveling it would have been much well received, if the series had been given emotional soundtracks from sawano hiroyuki and if the drama scenes were played much better like in episode 2 when viole was reminiscing rachel's words or in the scene where wangnan was about to slay the enemy but decided to let him live. It would've been much better
@@roclip4861 keep telling that like the anime did such a horrible job. do you even see the art in the manhwa for S1 and S2? Fire my Asss. such an ungrateful fandom
As a manhwa reader. A lot of content was skipped in season 1 and some stuff from this season so far, but that's to be expected. TOG is a mix between One Piece and HxH. Length of One Piece and detailed like HxH. Unless TOG got the One Piece treatment of weekly or semi weekly releases, it's just unrealistic to expect things to not be heavily trimmed down. Now we are on arguably the slowest arc but we need to get through it for whats to come later. Now for animation. They could be trying to follow how the manhwas style went ugly to better overtime, but even its going to be like this its fine. We have gotten way to spoiled by constant amazing animation all the time. Not everything can have the budget to do that and thats ok. So far season 2 is doing a great job of saying faithful to the manhwa and thats all i can ask for. Edit. Also i would highly recommend you watch ani news on this. He does a good job of filling in some of the blanks.
i just watched a few episodes and switched to webtoon, im about halfway (?) through the hell train arc now, and i gotta say, the art has slowly caught up with the current anime. but even the earlier chapters so like season 2 episode 40 or sth have more soul than the anime, even if the art itself is worse
As an anime only I am so damn disappointed in the animation for S2. Luckily I am also a simple guy so I won't drop the anime PURELY because of the story. Will probably read the manhwa at some point
Im a huge tower of god fan and right now in source material this is a rough transition even for manwha readers because its so different and then in combo with the souless animation. The 2nd half on will be alot better and hopefully animation quality improves. This portion would honestly be better binged than a weekly format
I wish the adaptation was better, the webtoon has much better pacing imo and even in the early seasons of the webtoon when the art style wasn't as advanced, it feels like it has a lot more character in comparison to the season 2 anime style
Dude I literally watched this whole anime to see this video, like I just finished the latest episode and yes, you’re definitely right. After binging season 1 and 2 back to back I did notice a drop in the quality and I think you explained it perfectly in the video. It just didn’t feel like the same show anymore, the animation makes it look like any other anime and it’s really a shame. I remember when I first started season 1 I wasn’t a fan of the artstyle but it REALLY grew on me but it’s like bland now. I’m still trying to trust the process with the build up and shit but it’s still really sad to see a genuinely good series ruined by the animation
I get why some people are down on the combat but a lot of people aren’t aware of what’s been happening to studios due expensive animation costs. If they go all out on animation for every single fight they’ll go bankrupt and the show will be cancelled before even getting to the fights that are worth spending the money on. Of course I want the fights to look dope too. I just think there being smart and saving the money for the big fights.❤ Can’t forget the manga is where it is thanks to the story not animation. (Yes it’s drawn well but it’s a picture)
So, with your logic, Solo Leveling should already be bankrupt 😭. Their production was doomed from the beginning. They don’t give a fuck because (as shown) they know fans will support it no matter what.
@@rh___15__y exactly. It could have. It’s not really “my logic” it’s just looking at how much the animation studios make vs how much they spend. Like chainsaw man for example. They spent so much money on season one and didn’t make as much as they predicted. People were worried they’d cancel season 2 but despite not making the money they have fair they’ll make up for it during the second season. Spending that kind of money is a gamble. Not every show has one peace money. The reason they’re willing to take big losses is because whenever they do find a show that makes tens of millions it makes up for the anime that got canceled because not enough people supported it. It’s the reason so many reincarnation anime’s exists and anime’s that have some kind of game system like solo leveling and sword art online exists.
I thought tower of god season one ended, and then the studio went bankrupt like no game no life and other animes around that time but from seeing a lot of people bring up budget I think that might have been the case, but they picked it back up and I’m glad that they did. They just need to get back into that cycle so if we support enough we could see peak near season 3 ya know
I will say, the story does take place from Bam's perspective. Season 1, he was full of life, with a bunch of friends. Though sad experiences transpired for all, Bam cherished EACH and EVERY personality he came across, EVEN when they betrayed or attempted to hurt him :/ Season 2, comes after an a time skip, which we have no idea how long (as far as I can remember?), AFTER Bam has just been pushed to his *obviously unexpected* and untimely "death" by the person he cherishes MOST in his Life....and he doesn't even WANt revenge.... he just wants answers for why, and to make sure NO1 else has to die. HE DOESN'T WANT TO BE IN FUG. But if he doesn't...the entire Tower knows who his best friends are, they're freakin famous celebrities. And they will kill his precious friends, A TERM HE DOES NOT USE LIGHTLY AND REFUSES TO MAKE MORE of, because the LOVE of people is how they control him to complete their objective. So...when watching a story unfold, remember who's story it is. Bam is in a dark place mentally, but he still has an incredibly loving heart. Anyone else in his position would probably have noped out at the pressures of such responsibility, but HE is an Irregular for a reason....he doesn't want to play by the rules of Violence to win--only if it's the only option left. And even THEN, he'd rather sacrifice himself then let anyone else take the fall for him :'(
The Funimation buyout happened after season 1 so I’d be willing to bet it’s a completely different animation team, but I’m guessing. I really miss the storybook quality the season 1 animation had.
Why did they change the art form in the first season? I actually liked it and normally I always stick to the normal anime look but they could’ve kept it the same in the first season. First season art made the show look more brutal but the second season art turn…kinda…”soft”
love the jokes free sub. i started season 2 right after binge season 1 and it completely stopped me in my tracks.. like we dont get anymore of the crew from season 1??? horrible transition idk if i wanna watch ep 2 or finish after what im seeing from people online.
i watched S1, for the first time, in the past week or two. I then started watching s2 after it (just finished episode 6). So i dont have the 4 year gap, i see them back to back. Also, I was not spoiled about them in any way, never watched any review or anything. I 100% agree with you about both seasons and the negative contrast between them. its a shame. I'll still watch the season through.
Please don’t be disappointed, this was a slow arc in the manwha too but believe me stuff kicks off and it kicks off very soon. I’m way too excited to see the fights get animated… just know when you see Ran just know it’s going to be on sight and a good fight scene. I see Tower of God a Korean one piece, it’s here for a long time and a good time.
I'm on exchange in Japan at the moment and learning in the Japanese curriculum. While I can't answer they think s2 could be an improvement in anyway. I will just point out they do not teach how to write here. Like actually. They don't teach techniques or nuthing. They prioritize historical literature and kanji over actual story writing. So, that kinda explains why 50 percent of anime's plot lines are more flat then a Japanese girls ch-
So my complain is about animation and art-style, specially animation. I know that at this point in the manhwa neither were great, but the animation especially is starting to go from mid to bad. I really hope next episode carrys. In terms of pacing, i actually think the pace is pretty good considering the lenght and depth of the the next big arc, so they definetly had this first arc has a very introductory thing, and i think theres nothing wrong with that. I really feel like if they had mantained the art-style from s1 it would cover a lot of this mid/bad animation and would give more originality to the anime
When you go from JJK type animes to more story type, there's gonna be a big drop in the fighting animation. I completely understand where you're at. If this season will be like the first, it'll be the last three episodes that really leaves the impact that this show is looking for.
For me I think the story has kept the same quality but it’s different because we don’t have old baam and the lit ass cast we had before and I want to see them meet again but I do miss the old style I honestly don’t mind the new one it just looks like every other anime 😅
Not sure what fans want. Because this season is following the source material much better than S1. pp complained about S1 skipping so much, yea i prefer the animation of S1 better, but its definitely not ruined.
They improved on the animation, everything looks polished & at this point in the manga no flashy battles happen yet so pacing wise the anime is doing a good job
I don't blame you man you weren't the first to have these opinions. People were saying that back in 2013, when the webtoon was dropping. the rest of the meal will come. Just let it cook a couple of episodes.
so to answer your questions about why tog s2 is not cutting it like s1 did am just gonna leave this comment from reddit: Hey! So I just wanted to talk about some of the reasons why tower of god season 2, looks the way it does right now and why it is currently struggling. I am an animator myself that has worked as a second key animator and clean up artist. I have not worked on tower of god season 2 nor am I claiming to have worked on it. The reason I wanted to make this post is I am seeing a lot of MISINFORMATION being spread and it is very annoying and bugging me on a personal level. First off, no this isn’t a budget issue. I am generally surprised that this is a debate that budget = animation quality. A lot of anime’s with vastly different animation quality have the same budget. It is 2024, I am generally surprised this is still a thing people need to learn about. Most of an anime’s budget isn’t even directed at the animation. If budget was equal to animation, literally every single big i.p would have fantastic animation quality. Second of all, one of the most important things is what staff is working on a anime, what director, what producer. That is even more important than the studio itself. If a studio puts a bad director on a series, usually the series itself will look generally bad. When an anime is getting mad by a new studio, or a not as popular studio it is not necessarily a bad thing if the staff on itself is good and they have a healthy production. The reason why tower of god season 2 is suffering and will continue to suffer is because the director sucks and the production for tower of god season 2 was bad. Leakers like months ago have said this, and I remember making a post clearly about this and getting downvoted into oblivion. Them not having a lot of time to animate the season with a not experienced director equals a bad product.
I would treat it like one piece or any long running anime. Their art in the beginning mid compared to mid-late storyline. The fight for future is where budget need, manwa is still going on I believe
Current bit in the anime is the slowest bit of the whole story, but I do get what you mean about the animation its almost too clean/good needs to bring that sort of comic look back
The season 1 studio has been around since the 80s making shit like full metal alchemist brotherhood. The season 2 studio is much newer. I imagine that its way easier to animate like season 2 since it is much more generic. But Kevin Penkin is still holding it down for the underground on the OST
11:28 my man... if you read the manga/manhwa you'd be pissed from the very beginning... It is unreal how static images can pack more punch and feel then this season's animation... I'm very disappointed.... I foresee a cancelation in the horizon unfortunately :( Very one-punch man season 2 vibes...

Tower of god season 2 not turning into s1 or classroom of the elite s1 to s3 mid and max decent mid adaptation like horimiya s1 type if they give us 25 or 26 minutes of 1 episode with full 2 chapter adaptation .
Good, I hope it's not renewed for another season. It was all good(s1) until certain fans infected it with nonsense head canon relationships. This anime could have been great and MHA.

i think the artstyle was better in season one, but the adaption was worst (so far) there changes, cut scenes, rushed scenes, change in lines or atitude in the adaption of season 2.. but so far its not bad like in comperason, season 1 had did crimes (mainly taward rak and quant, but also lero ro and baam) with some decitions... if u'll stop compere the seasons and different studio decisions you might enjoy again from tower of god.. remember season one aired when covid started so it was some unique timing to watch it, everyone stuck in home looking for something new to binge, and tower of god was brand new for 2020.. hope you'll like this season by its end... even if less then season 1, but give it its own honorable place p.s. i know season 2 can be boring sometimes, when i read i literaly said to myself "new characters? i won't get attached to em, they all can die" and then they hit me and started enreting my heart too.. and when the story gotten abit better it was worth it.

I am upset about couple beats they didn't hit.
But the animation has been really good. It looks alot like the webtoon.
The animation from season 1 to 2 matches the webtoon. Originally people hated the season 1 animation. Now they want it back.

Everyone was waiting for the animation for when our boi Mazino shows up because THATs where we decide if it’s a flop, and so far that “I’ll play with you, Baaaaaby” gave everyone the hype we waited for, plus daddy jinsung appeared and Karaka in the background. The Mazino fight was mid af tbh. So much stuff is skipped as well. Just an overall lazy and cheap adaptation.
The studio can’t even be bothered to animate what floor people are on 😂
I saw anime only’s confused thinking Khun’s team was still on floor three becasue that’s what floor of the house Rachel’s room is 😂
Like…How hard is it to add a simple info card to display which floor we are on when we switch scenes??
It would've been much better
even solo leveling fight sucks. i wanted something level of jujutsu kaisen
Sawano hiroyuki for this kinda ass storywriting?? Lol you wish

I love Rachel, she's my favorite character ⭐️I hope she can make her dreams come true ⭐️
As an anime only I am so damn disappointed in the animation for S2. Luckily I am also a simple guy so I won't drop the anime PURELY because of the story. Will probably read the manhwa at some point
I feel like whoever is directing it is just SELLING
Bro why yall acting like this season has seven deadly sins animation😂
Season two honestly felt so slow back when it first getting released on the manwha. It does get much better. Especially with the workshop battle.
They made it feel just like the web comic the tone of the art changes the problem is it’s not as subtle as it is in the comic

I just think there being smart and saving the money for the big fights.❤
Can’t forget the manga is where it is thanks to the story not animation.
But why tf did they have to change studios 😭 the old at style and animation was farrr better
I thought tower of god season one ended, and then the studio went bankrupt like no game no life and other animes around that time but from seeing a lot of people bring up budget I think that might have been the case, but they picked it back up and I’m glad that they did. They just need to get back into that cycle so if we support enough we could see peak near season 3 ya know
The studio got changed
8:00 Viole's first appearance was so underwhelming on the anime... Dude was at a bloodbath there, people were all on a pool of blood.
I will say, the story does take place from Bam's perspective.
Season 1, he was full of life, with a bunch of friends. Though sad experiences transpired for all, Bam cherished EACH and EVERY personality he came across, EVEN when they betrayed or attempted to hurt him :/
Season 2, comes after an a time skip, which we have no idea how long (as far as I can remember?), AFTER Bam has just been pushed to his *obviously unexpected* and untimely "death" by the person he cherishes MOST in his Life....and he doesn't even WANt revenge.... he just wants answers for why, and to make sure NO1 else has to die.
I read this part 4 years ago just after finishing the 1st season, and they really dropped the ball hard... this deserved a better adaptation

Just wait for the workshop battle my dude. Everything kicks off after that. I highly recommend reading it though. It’s so good.

so to answer your questions about why tog s2 is not cutting it like s1 did am just gonna leave this comment from reddit: Hey!
Them not having a lot of time to animate the season with a not experienced director equals a bad product.
imo each arc after this is better than the last
Its the animation
bro the webtoon is so much better you should defo read it
Johnny Young Bosch is hitting bam.. it looks like the the webtoon its faithful in color
But Kevin Penkin is still holding it down for the underground on the OST

i think the artstyle was better in season one, but the adaption was worst (so far)
there changes, cut scenes, rushed scenes, change in lines or atitude in the adaption of season 2.. but so far its not bad like in comperason, season 1 had did crimes (mainly taward rak and quant, but also lero ro and baam) with some decitions...
if u'll stop compere the seasons and different studio decisions you might enjoy again from tower of god..
remember season one aired when covid started so it was some unique timing to watch it, everyone stuck in home looking for something new to binge, and tower of god was brand new for 2020..
hope you'll like this season by its end... even if less then season 1, but give it its own honorable place
p.s. i know season 2 can be boring sometimes, when i read i literaly said to myself "new characters? i won't get attached to em, they all can die" and then they hit me and started enreting my heart too.. and when the story gotten abit better it was worth it.
Kuhn and the umar meme is hilarious bro😂
Szn 3 will be the Workshop Battle.

Honestly kinda pissing me off too the animation is what made it unique and now it’s just like any random anime like story going great so far but the animation is not it idk might just be me
Low key they did a one pound man season 2 on us animation and art style wise
The artstyle threw me off so bad idk if I can keep watching
It's been awhile but I think in the manhwa Baam kills lurker. Correct me if wrong
