Wow! First of all, I had never heard this song until just last month (December of 2022) when I heard Casting Crowns' version on the radio. It quickly became one of my "new" favorite Christmas songs! Tonight I went on UA-cam to listen to it again and I found THIS version! Oh my gosh, the voices of these men and women are incredible! Beautiful harmonies! I'd love to hear them live! I also like the location and how the whole video looks like it was done in two takes! That must have taken a great deal of rehearsal! Amazing! I'll be going back to listen to this one a LOT!
I'm so glad you guys covered the Casting Crowns version of this song, which is trully the best version of it ever done, in my humble opinion. And you guys knocked it out of the park!
I was supposed to get married at this Chapel and we had to cancel our wedding ceremony because of Covid. It’s been such a tumultuous and dark year for so many people, this song feels more prevalent than ever.
I pray for your marriage, and encourage you to be strong; but I am so glad you point to 'the light', and the light that comes from us all when we share Christ's love and peace. God Bless and Christ be with you.
Beautifully done Acapella - I first heard this on Family radio and I loved it. I jumped out of bed to my computer to see who was this group. I just listened again and thoroughly enjoyed it again n again. May God bless this group as you sing for the Lord God Almighty always. Tk you.
I have never heard of this song. David Jeremiah of Turning Point talked about it in his daily message. I truly appreciate acapella. I find musical instruments often times override the lyrics. Thank you for this beautiful version.
I loved the big releases from this group from ~4 years ago like Come Behold and My Ransom. Not sure how I missed this one last year but you have a great set of new singers! Blessings to you all in your education and ministries.
Doxology released a CD last year called “How Can it Be” and it’s available on Apple Music, Spotify, etc. this is the final song on the CD. Glad you enjoyed the video.
Spectacular arrangement of a really great Christmas carol. You've managed to make it your own without trampling on the original. Original, but still a derivative work that builds on the strength of the original (itself a derivative work). Very well done and performance was also great.
Seeing it from the beginning, and everyone's seated socially distant, I had to wonder when it was done; then everyone got closer......symbolic hope? This song was a strange blessing in 2020
The Peace the angels talk of is Peace between Man and God. Christ is our Peace and means of Peace If you have Him you have Peace while still on EARTH! Like I do!
Exactly. Most people (and I think the original author of this song as well) were referring to peace between people and nations--longing for that; singing as if wishfully thinking about it. This peace though is "peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" only through His shed blood on the cross--making peace by the blood of His cross, which was anything but peaceful. (Colossians 1:20). This same Jesus, in Matthew 10:34-36 said that "I have not come to bring peace but a sword." All those who have peace with God through Christ have been brought into conflict with those who are of the kingdom of darkness and "Will suffer persecution." (Philippians 1:29 and 2 Tim. 3:12.)
@@mikegoldfuss799 So true Mike - I love Jesus words "My PEACE I GIVE TO YOU ....John 14:27 My Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.] John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.] John 20:21 Then Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you; as the Father has sent Me (into the World), I also send you [as My representatives].” Also relates to the Angels saying "PEACE ON EARTH GOOD WILL TOWARDS ALL MEN (MANKIND)"
@@mikegoldfuss799 The author wrote this during the American Civil War, after having been notified of his son's serious injury. Therefore, yes, he was writing of peace between men. You are correct that the announcement of the angels referred to peace between the Father and His people, through His Son, Jesus.
Longfellow's poem I heard the Bells... helped a nation at civil war to find meaning in where there's good will there's peace on Earth. Where are the poets of today to help heal our modern world that no longer keeps GOD on the throne? The Bible is still the only book that has the answers.

Kirk McMillan That’s a funny story. In short, the first soloist (Matt, which is me) is also the beatboxer. When we recorded the audio in the studio, it was done in layers. After the group was recorded, we did the solos and then did beatboxing with beatbox bass (Evan). The funny part was once we had it mastered, it occurred to us that it would be impossible to have the lead soloist and the beatboxing together live. That’s the story of why you don’t see a beatboxer :)
