Wow! First of all, I had never heard this song until just last month (December of 2022) when I heard Casting Crowns' version on the radio. It quickly became one of my "new" favorite Christmas songs! Tonight I went on UA-cam to listen to it again and I found THIS version! Oh my gosh, the voices of these men and women are incredible! Beautiful harmonies! I'd love to hear them live! I also like the location and how the whole video looks like it was done in two takes! That must have taken a great deal of rehearsal! Amazing! I'll be going back to listen to this one a LOT!

I was supposed to get married at this Chapel and we had to cancel our wedding ceremony because of Covid. It’s been such a tumultuous and dark year for so many people, this song feels more prevalent than ever.

Spectacular arrangement of a really great Christmas carol. You've managed to make it your own without trampling on the original. Original, but still a derivative work that builds on the strength of the original (itself a derivative work). Very well done and performance was also great.

The Peace the angels talk of is Peace between Man and God.

If you have Him you have Peace while still on EARTH!

    • @mikegoldfuss799
      @mikegoldfuss799 5 років тому

Exactly. Most people (and I think the original author of this song as well) were referring to peace between people and nations--longing for that; singing as if wishfully thinking about it. This peace though is "peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ" only through His shed blood on the cross--making peace by the blood of His cross, which was anything but peaceful. (Colossians 1:20). This same Jesus, in Matthew 10:34-36 said that "I have not come to bring peace but a sword." All those who have peace with God through Christ have been brought into conflict with those who are of the kingdom of darkness and "Will suffer persecution." (Philippians 1:29 and 2 Tim. 3:12.)

@@mikegoldfuss799 So true Mike - I love Jesus words "My PEACE I GIVE TO YOU ....John 14:27
My Peace I leave with you; My [perfect] peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you.
Do not let your heart be troubled, nor let it be afraid. [Let My perfect peace calm you in every circumstance and give you courage and strength for every challenge.]
      John 16:33
I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace. In the world you have tribulation and distress and suffering, but be courageous [be confident, be undaunted, be filled with joy]; I have overcome the world.” [My conquest is accomplished, My victory abiding.]
      John 20:21
Then Jesus said to them again, “Peace to you; as the Father has sent Me (into the World), I also send you [as My representatives].”
Also relates to the Angels saying "PEACE ON EARTH GOOD WILL TOWARDS ALL MEN (MANKIND)"

@@mikegoldfuss799 The author wrote this during the American Civil War, after having been notified of his son's serious injury. Therefore, yes, he was writing of peace between men. You are correct that the announcement of the angels referred to peace between the Father and His people, through His Son, Jesus.

1 I heard the bells on Christmas day
    Their old familiar carols play,
And wild and sweet the words repeat
Of peace of earth, good will to men.
2 I thought how, as the day had come,
    The belfries of all Christendom
    Had rolled along th'unbroken song
Of peace on earth, good will to men.
3 And in despair I bowed my head:
"There is no peace on earth," I said,
"For hate is strong, and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men."
4 Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
    "God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, good will to men."
5 Till, ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day
    A voice, a chime, a chant sublime,
Of peace on earth, good will to men.

Kirk McMillan That’s a funny story. In short, the first soloist (Matt, which is me) is also the beatboxer. When we recorded the audio in the studio, it was done in layers. After the group was recorded, we did the solos and then did beatboxing with beatbox bass (Evan). The funny part was once we had it mastered, it occurred to us that it would be impossible to have the lead soloist and the beatboxing together live.
That’s the story of why you don’t see a beatboxer :)

    Happy Annunciation Day March 25th
    The History of Christmas
“Christmas” is a shortened form of “Christ’s Mass”
Shortened in the 11th Century through translations
Mass is what Catholic’s call their Church service.
Christmas is a Tradition and Not in the Bible.
Before 336AD Catholic’s celebrated Jesus’s birth on January 6th, the Epiphany. The day the Magi or Wise Men came to present the New Born Jesus with their gifts.
    Matthew 2
(Wise Men from the East) 2 Now after Jesus was born in Bethlehem of Judea in the days of Herod the king, behold, [a]wise men from the East came to Jerusalem, 2 saying, “Where is He who has been born King of the Jews? For we have seen His star in the East and have come to worship Him.”
Although not in the Bible, the Early Church Fathers tell us that there were 3 Wise Men or Magi and their names were Gaspar, Melchior, and Balthazar.
Gaspar (or Caspar), who has brown hair, a brown beard and wears a green cloak and a gold crown with green jewels on it. He is the King of Sheba. Gaspar brought the gift of Frankincense to Jesus.
Melchior, who has long white hair, a white beard and wears a gold cloak. He is the King of Arabia. Melchior brought the gift of Gold to Jesus.
Balthazar, who has dark skin, a black beard and wears a purple cloak. He is the King of Tarse and Egypt. Balthazar brought the gift of Myrrh to Jesus.
In 336 A.D. the first Catholic Christian Emperor, Constantine the Great, decided to celebrate Jesus’s actual birthday. He believed Jesus Christ’s birthday should be celebrated by going to Mass. Christmas is just a shortened form of Christ’s Mass. It is derived from the Middle English Cristemasse, which is from Old English Crīstesmæsse. Since nobody knew the actual day and there still wasn't a New Testament produced at the time. (Even after the New Testament was produced Jesus’s actual Birthday was still not in the New Testament.)
Constantine went by the Tradition of the Early Church Fathers to decide the date that he would call Christ’s Mass or today, Christmas. From the early days of Christianity, Early Church Fathers celebrated the Annunciation of Mary on March 25th and still is today. This was the day Mary was told she was now with child, and she would name him Jesus by the ArchAngel Gabriel where he said.......
The Hail Mary is in the Bible
Hail Mary full of Grace. Luke 1:28
The Lord is with thee. Luke 1:28
Blessed are though among women. Luke 1:42
And Blessed is the fruit of thy womb Jesus Luke 1:42
Holy Mary, mother of God. Luke 1:43
Nine months after March 25th is December 25th!
Christmas is on December 25th for this reason!
Since some people are against any type of Marian theology they will say Christmas was originally a pagan holiday called Winter Solstice. Pagan’s celebrated 8 holidays throughout the year. Many of those were celebrated for several days at a time. Christmas is on December 25th and is not on the pagan holiday of Winter Solstice (Dec-20th-23rd) and never was associated with it either.
New Years -The World follows a Calendar called the Gregorian Calendar named after Pope Gregory XIII (1582). Pope Gregory made this new Calendar because Julius Caesar’s Calendar ‘the Julian Calendar’ never accounted for the 6 extra hours each year properly. Pope Gregory implemented leap year ( February 29th ) every 4 years in the Calendar to account for the extra 6 hours each year. He also changed New Years from April 1st (Several Countries celebrated New Years on different days also the day changed throughout the centuries) universally to January 1st . That is why we have April Fools Day. ‘April Fools’ were the people who would not recognize Pope Gregory’s Calendar celebrating January 1st as New Year’s Day!

Early Church Fathers on the Epiphany & Christ’s Birthdate
Hyppolytus of Rome, Commentary on the book of Daniel (170-235 ad)
For the first advent of our Lord in the flesh, when he was born in Bethlehem, Wednesday, while Augustus was in his forty-second year, but from Adam, five thousand and five hundred years. He suffered death in the thirty-third year, March 25th, Friday, the eighteenth year of Tiberius Caesar, the same day the Virgin Mary was visited.
Gregory Thaumaturgus Four Homilies 4th homily (213-275 ad)
For even though the festival of the Epiphany of the Savior has past, The grace of the same yet abides with us through all the season.
John Cassian Conference 10 ch 2 (360-435 ad)
This custom is by ancient tradition observed that when the Epiphany is past, which the priests and bishops regard as the time of our Lord's baptism, and so celebrate the commemoration of either mystery not separately as in the Western provinces but on the single festival of this day,(1)--letters are sent from the Bishop of Alexandria through all the Churches, by which the beginning of Lent, and the day of Easter are pointed out not only in all the cities but also in all the monasteries.
Augustine on the Holy Trinity Book 4 ch 5.9 (354-430 ad)
For He is believed to have been conceived on the 25th of March upon which day he also suffered his death; so the womb of the Virgin, in which He was conceived, where no one of mortals was begotten, corresponds to the new grave in which He was buried, wherein was never man laid, neither before nor since. But He was born according to tradition nine months later, upon December the 25th. If, then you reckon from that day to this you find two hundred and seventy-six days which is forty-six times six. And in this number of years the temple was built, because in that number of sixes the body of the Lord was perfected; which being destroyed by the suffering of death, He raised again on the third day.
Sulpitius Severus Sacred History ch 27 (363-420 ad)
Under Herod, in the thirty-third year of his reign, CHRIST was born on the twenty-fifth of December, in the consulship of Sabinus and Rufinus, nine months from the Virgin Mary’s conception.
