i learned this drum beat a while ago..Ive bin playing the snare drum for 16 years (american civil war re-enactor) ive learned a lot of drum beats and fife music..by the way i live in the UK :)
Can't rightly recall the source. It was an historical book and I recall the section describing colorful Frency uniforms making excellent targets. Also it went on to state that for a given offensive, the French army marched out in excellent formation and the bands accompanied them. That was the last time soldiers marched to battle under such conditions.
@@robertcurry389 Yes, just watched a WW1 episode last night that showed this unit preparing to attack the Germans. They marched out in formation, bands playing, and colors flying. They succeeded in driving the Germans back. This was one of the many documentary series on WW1 on NETFLIX. I belief this was episode 4.😁
What about No1 Commando, led by Lord Lovat (aka Simon Fraser)? He didn't have a claymore, but a Remington .45-70 under lever. The piper with him was Bill Millin, according to wiki. This was made famous in the movie The Longest Day.
Where a can I find all of these. Attack, cadences to give commands, or retreat. My G-grandpa was a civil was drummer and almost got killed. But I'm a drummer and was always wanting to learn these.
@fireutility21 Last time it happened was in 2004, 4th battalion Royal Regiment of Scotland (The Black Watch), made a bayonet charge upon insurgent positions with Hielan Laddie being played on the pipes as they went in.
This is called the crazy army 2/4 and would not be used for a call to battle. Just because you saw it on gettysburg doesn't mean it was what was done (Just easier to loop in post production for the battle scene) A call for assembly is what would have been played. As far as drums go @blackeneer you can go to several places. Cooperman makes a good drum but if you do not want to spend the money george carroll with carroll drum service does an excellent job as well
@fireutility21 Well it worked fine back in the not so civil "Civil War," The calls let everyone know where they were supposed to be and what they were supposed to be doing. Think how confused they would have been without it. Different times call for different measures. Have a good one! :)
In the battle of El Alamein the british charged through the German mine fields into the face of artillery, led by no other instrument than the bagpipes.
In fact, the scottish are the only ones who still preform bayonet charges. There are at least two instances of scottish regiments that i can think of when scottish soldiers preformed a bayonet charge on taliban soldiers.
I wonder how freaked/confused our enemies would be if we marched into modern-day battle with drums, pipe, and bugle
I like your thinking
And fife
EXACTLYYYY!!!!!💥💥🤣🤣
I think they would immediately surrender because this HITS
Let's do it
I am a drummer for my Civil War Reenactment Regiment. This is one of the first calls I have mastered and played.
Jack- tropolis is there a way to get a long loop of this?
Ur a furry for gods sake
I remember this one from GETTYSBURG--the Confederate played it as Pickett's Division was forming up and starting off.
I still remember charging agaisnt stonewall Jackson

Probably talking about WWI.

@Fallenkezef Yes, I can't remember his name, but I know the Royal Commandos had a piper on D-Day
My living mate started to played this on his computers and I woke up, grabbed my rifle and ran outside to stand in a line.

Me tendrán que disculpar pero... está excelente, la bajaré como tono de llamada.
@fireutility21 They have instruments too, so it becomes a competition top the death
Just brought to mind "The Drums of the Fore and Aft."

What type of drumsticks did they use back then
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
yup just play it, it doesnt matter if theres 2 of you or 1, it should sound the same

Now I wonder if the American and British drummers ever had a drum off before battle? That would be cool.
This is not a call to battle, more of just a eat. If you were needed to quickly stir and get your gear, there would have been a long roll.
Could I use this for a video I'm making on the battle of Saratoga?
Yes lol just do it
@@matthewmerical767 I bet he’s still waiting
How sad, he never made the video...
Saratoga chips.
What is the name of this one?
In the battle of El Alamein the british charged through the German mine fields into the face of artillery, led by no other instrument than the bagpipes.
can anyone tell me what the drum march or song name is for when you go to a parade and the vfw marches with a drummer.
What was this drummer call used for ?
it was used to order troops to grab their rifles and prepare for attack during the revolutionary and civil war.
dude You are right
that would be bad ass
Shit just got real.
Sir I forgot my gun
'Call to Battle' is a bit vague. Is it 'Assembly' or another call?
Assembly is something else. This is a drum cadence called the Monumental Quickstep.
Так пионеры маршировали в СССР. Я 1953 г.р.

@fireutility21 Pipe? You mean fife?
@Weesel71
Can you please tell me where you got this info? Id love to read up about it
And come running with long sharp medieval swords!
IIRC the last time anyone did that was the Frency (figures) in WW1. The German machine guns were not intimidated.
Where do you get the drum
@fireutility21 British and Canadian army still goes in with Bagpipes. :D
i played four of these at once.
who's our enemy today mind i ask?
your link doesnt work :P
Bill Millin.
Beat to quarters
Charge bayonets is another command....
When its boys vs girls
Girls: we got this guys👍👍
Boys: MAKE READY YOU MUSKETS!!
People would be in lines with M16A1s.
@501darth no i mean pipe as in bag pipws
British Grenadier ?
I'd run
*Fix
@fireutility21 Forget that, scare the hell out of them with bagpipes
Charge bayonets!
DO YOU HEAR THE DRUMMING OF THE 99%?
fireutility: Ask the Brits - they (sometimes) do (at least pipes unless it is Rifles and they use real bugles, not cornets)!
GTA Liberty City Stories theme.
sounds kinda like Hell on Wabash
better yet battle horns from viking era
What if they had tenors or quints.
oh shit would get real really fucking fast
They would be laughing as they cut us down with mortars, machine guns, and rockets, as well as the occasional air strike.
probably "what the fuck"
Ela class lol

This is stupid, the bass doesn't even drop. What kind of war/battle music is this? They should have played some Spag Heddy or Skrillex
+ᅚ Excuse me but, the Civil war was in 1861, they had no "Spag Heddy" or "Skrillex" back then.
+Shasta Baney -_-
I'm only pointing out the truth.
