- Cocaine Rodeo is the debut album by American metal/punk band Mondo Generator, released on Southern Lord Records in 2000. It was compiled of material recorded by vocalist/bassist Nick Oliveri with an Austin, Texas punk band and his ex-Kyuss bandmates. Recorded in 1997, the material was shelved for three years due to Oliveri's full-time commitment to Queens Of The Stone Age. Several of the songs were performed live by Queens Of The Stone Age, building up hype before the eventual release of the album.

A 100% solid album. Also, I met Nick Oliveri once and he is the only person in my life that had pronounced my name correctly.
One of the best!!!!
a more noise / punk rock approach to the former kyuss sound , an astounding effort , really !!!
Holy shit, Rated R is my favorite QOTSA album and this is blowing my mind right now
killer stuff man, this guy is cool
Holy shit! Where has this been all my life! What matters is that it exists there now.
I really appreciate the upload. I also dig the description you wrote up on it. I always like to hear the stories behind the bands and their music.
13th Floor = Tension Head
the only real difference between the two is that instead of saying "on the 13th floor" he says "on the bathroom floor" in tension head
I think I like the intensity of this version more actually.
Jumbo Blimp Jumbo also uses a near identical, albeit slower riff
@@samdavidson7022 nice catch. I never noticed that, but it's undeniable.
@@samdavidson7022 Fuckin hell I've listened to both for ages and never caught that, nice
Saw the guys in Brazil, Nick is a very nice person, original and the song is fuking awesome live.....Good drummer, flexible vocals, fucking awesome energizing riffs and a lot.... Thank you nick for the good show in Campinas!!!!!
bons tempos em campinas
That water in the desert must be pretty damn awesome. How in the hell can they produce so many good bands in such a desolate place?
There's nothing else to do other than playing an instrument and starting a band
rancho de la luna
Cause they dont have anything else better to do!
urgh there is not enough love to nuture mr nick. just too much amazin
Lot of Fugazi traits but that is absolutely no problem! :D
Simple Exploding Man is amazing
thank you, your a good man
I love the latest incarnation of QOTSA but I'd be lying if I said they aren't missing that something that is present here.
They're missing Nick Oliveri and Mark Langan. Josh is a poser
so i'm listening to Dead Insects and suddenly Kansas
When your stranded in a desert with nothing but a guitar, what do you do?
try to find help ?
drugs
Try to find electricity and the amp?
Take all the Dessert Session albums and a sheet of acid with me
go find the acoustic version of Simple Exploding Man, it's completely different but really great
Wake me up and get me high!
wow ! Nick is fucking crazy! amazing album.
Sweet
13th floor = tension head ?
Groovy as QOTSA but not poppy, which is great!
@@BigMacSoss I enjoy all the QOTSA stuff (except Era Vulgaris which I couldn't get into), but yeah, first three are a totally different ball game.
@@davebacon4 josh disbanded kyuss 3 albums to soon. he had a little kyuss still left in the tank.
@@BigMacSoss ,josh could quit the kyuss vibe cold turkey. therefor the albums up to and including songs for the deaf
Sound astronimic
Interesting album. I'm more into the traditional stoner but it's still interesting.
I hear some Black Flag
Nice question buddy!

Jajajaja
Good Kyuss song !
+tomdesavoix it's actually a cover, and not an original
hahahahahaha thats one of the funniest jokes ive heard...i hope you were joking otherwise ill still be laughing bcs you actually think that Mondo Generator is better than Queens of the Stone Age
My number is 666!! :D
fuck this is music, queens of stone age are too pop for my taste. kyuss are gods
I loved QOTSA around the time of this album. Now it's like a light version. I miss the danger that Nick brought to the show.
@@HannibalOrJustRex it seems like the more control Josh took over QOTSA, the worse it got. I've always loved his guitar playing, but I don't even know what that Villains (and the 2-3 before it) is supposed to be, sounds like a rip off of the '80s, the'50s, and disco.
