When my husband and I honeymooned at WDW, we booked Tusker House for lunch and we had no idea it was a character meal, we just thought the food looked interesting. I absolutely loved it, and I’m not normally a big fan of character dining (I don’t want to take the spot of a little one), but they were so organized about making sure the Fab 5 made it to everyone’s tables, let us know what path they would be taking through the restaurant, I was super impressed! Would absolutely do it again 😊
Breakfast at The Wave is also an amazing deal. $23 for adults and $13 for children for an AYCTE meal is a really cheap price, especially at Disney. There's no characters and no windows, but the food is superb, and there's that same 5 minute walk back to Magic Kingdom right after eating!
We went to Tusker House on our trip in April and it was awesome! My son is an extremely picky eater and we couldn't find anything he would eat. One of the chefs saw us looking through the buffet and and said "what do you want? I'll make it!". He came out 10 minutes later with an enormous platter of chicken fingers and french fries for my son. Can't say enough good things about Tusker House! The lunch buffet is delicious.
Really enjoyable episode guys! Pete it looks like you had a great night sleep last night because you were awesome in this, the reason why I keep watching Disunplugged is because you have such great knowledge and you're really informative about all things WDW, so to see you be calm and courteous to your fellow vloggers was refreshingly nice! I also really like Steve's tip about the California Grill Lounge, I had no idea you could order appetisers from the main restaurant to be eaten tapas style.
Great List guys !! I agree with all of your choices..and its great to see The Wave getting some love again...I also think Cape May Cafe could be added. I have members of our family who love this place and its pretty easy on the wallet. Again... great job !
Tusker House is absolutely incredible. I gotta say the Wave breakfast buffet is incredibly quiet and very, very good, too. We hit it back in February and it was great.
Idea for dining show ... best QS and TB service restaurants using DDP. I know this has been done in the past but with all the new restaurants an update would be great!
Excellent choices. Love the Tusker House for breakfast. Will have to give lunch a try. Thanks Steve for the info on the California Grill Lounge and great bit of info about coming back with your receipt to watch the fire works. Thanks Guys.
Thank you for this episode. We don't tend to go to Disney with a dining plan so it is great to learn of some more affordable options. We loved Tusker House and would eat there again in a heartbeat. Definitely trying out Trails End next time too.
Agree with most of your choices, as an honorable mention I would also throw in Olivia’s at Old Key West. Definitely more budget friendly (at least by Disney standards) than most and some very good food.
I had lunch at Tusker House in a whim when a bunch of people dumped it during a bad storm last time I was there, it is going to be my staple go to from now on, affordable, delicious and fun, and our server Cesar was the best
Last time at Epcot we had a 1:00 lunch reservation at Biergarten. We had plans for dessert at Les Halles before Illusions, but we were still so stuffed we had to skip it!
My last couple of trips to CA Grill I did exactly what Steve suggested and did the CA Grill lounge. It's pretty awesome! If you get there right at 5p when they open they give you a lounge table right at the windows. Though I would say the lounge is better suited for smaller parties of 3 or less probably. Also, I'm not sure they always allow this, but on my last visit last summer, our server let us order from the full menu and not just apps. So that was nice! But not sure if that is a case-by-case basis because I was always under the impression you could only order drinks, apps and desserts in the lounge. Cost-wise if you eat at the CA Grill lounge, my SO and I each had 2 drinks, each had a salad and then shared 2 apps (a flatbread and the ravioli) and each got a dessert and the meal was $170 with the tip. So even though eating at the lounge is much less than eating the full course dinner, it's still pricey.
Hey. Great videos. Keep up the awesome work! Was wondering when you were talking Germany the 33 Buffett is it the Biergarten Restaurant that you are talking about?
Trails End has plenty of salad type foods too--they have huge and sweet strawberries and fresh fruit. This would be great on a hot day. We've only stayed at Fort Wilderness, and love Trails End; we're coming down next during Christmas for two weeks, and we're eating at TE for the majority of our meals.
The Plaza seems to have excellent pricing - I haven't eaten there yet but plan to on our trip next Nov. Also, my fave TS in DHS is Sci Fi Dine In. Most entrees are $19 or under and another where I feel like you get such a good ambiance for your money!
My husband and I went to Tusker House for lunch and we hated it. We had a reservation and waited way to long for a table, the food was awful (and we are very open to all types of food). It was not cheap at all. It cost us $100.00 plus tip (luckily we had the dining plan). The character experiences were fun, the atmosphere was cool and our server was amazing, but for us it did not outweigh the cost and quality of food. Perhaps we hit it on a "bad" day, but we will not be going back here any time soon.
Our best table service value was getting pizza at Via Napoli in Epcot Italy pavilion. Split a $35 pizza between 3 people, you can't beat that...and it was delicious! Our best server experience as well. Nothing magical about the atmosphere, but it was still our favorite meal of the trip...the only one we will repeat next time.
Ferg, haha! No, hand feeding us would be the worst service! Our server was delightful, attentive and friendly, and surprised us with a free dessert for us celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary...all the servers came and sang to us in Italian! And $35 for a pizza may seem like a lot, but this is Disney. We could have each ordered a pasta dish for $26 each and spent over $75 for the meal, so to all eat for less than half of that...
I went to wdw in 2016 and now I'm going back in 2019 please tell me why the table service restaurant options are far more less than what they used to be. There are 21 less restaurants listed. I find this pretty insane!
You should do a show on keeping to a Keto diet in Disney. So many people are living this lifestyle right now and would benefit from some tips. I myself am low carb (not Keto) and would love to know my options out there! And thanks for all your content, it has been very informative. 😎
Denise Goldstein Any table service restaurant will be more than happy to adjust a dinner to suit your needs. Just ask. They are wonderful! For those with allergies the chef will even come out and talk with you...depending on the restaurant. Most of the high end chefs will do this. I speak from experience. They are awesome and takes diets and allergies very seriously.
Denise, I agree, the chefs in Disney are great about food needs, however I do think it would be interested to know which ones are better geared toward low carb or maybe some things that are diamonds in the rough ☺️
Question: can you guys talk about tipping at WDW? or if you have before can you direct to a video where it is discussed? Thanks, you guys do an awesome job on all of your shows!
With the discussion on budget friendly meals, I had a character meal at the dolphin last summer, and it was only $20, now I don’t know if they’re still offering those rates, but I’d love to see a dining show there nevertheless
Thanks! I can hear it now, Trails End pricing just went up to $60 a person. It’s good, we know. Stop raving about it. Disney doesn’t need any excuse to raise the prices. LOL
Im surprised the grove wasnt mentioned. Character breakfast at weekends with either buffet or a la carte. Cheapest breakfast to meet characters for $5pp
@petewerner can you plug out a show (discussion) every day. (Ryno and the team can host) I want to be able To tune in Daily for table discussions. Need more than my “daily fix).
Yes, it's the same as the main restaurant. The lounge is actually connected to the regular floor of the restaurant and inside the same room and just sits adjacent to it. Although I see many people not adhering to the dress code when I go unfortunately, which really sucks. I blame Disney for not enforcing it. So I don't recommend it, but you can get away with wearing almost whatever you want short of a bathing suit and flip-flops, and still get seated.
Sigh, with these prices I'll never convince my family to go to WDW. They won't go anywhere for a meal that charges more than $20 a person. Is there anywhere (ANYWHERE!) on WDW property that is less than $20 a person, and that doesn't consist of burgers, fries, corn dogs, and chicken strips?
You can get quick serve pizza and fish a few places. One place that you may be able to get some items for right at $20 per person is the Grand Floridian Cafe.
Tusker is not $35 per person for lunch. My wife and I just ate there for lunch; it cost $47 each plus tip. It was a delicious meal, but the video is very misleading. It is not a budget friendly restaurant.
I absolutely adore P but I have to wonder where hes eaten fried chicken. We ate a trails is a couple trips ago and it was some of the worst food I've ever had and a fried chicken was absolutely disgusting
Am I the only person in the world that HATES, HATES, hates the Tusker House buffet? I will say we only tried it for breakfast, but it was so miserable that I will not go back for lunch or dinner!! I'll GLADLY go to Rainforest Cafe or Boma for breakfast and Yak & Yeti for lunch on an Animal Kingdom day.
If your on a budget you shouldn't be at Disney world in the first place wait a little longer save some more money then go to disney world so you can have fun and ball out and eat whatever you want
Yes, I agree $60 is a lot of money, but finding ways to make an expensive experience more affordable can still be one way a family/group sticks to a budget. Just depends on what your budget is. If a $150 meal isn't in the budget, but a $60 one is that suggestion in my opinion is still in theme with this discussion.
Kellie Godwin Pete is talking to the audience and he's the host. Charles is there to talk to Pete and have a conversation with him for our entertainment. This is how it's done on any talk show. Check out any of the late shows for instance.
I agree (or disagree depending on how you look at it) with both of you. On the one hand, it's kind of awkward the way Charles looks at the camera, but on the other hand, I don't want him to face Pete and then we look at the side of his face the whole time. He's still one of my faves, though.
Just a tip for buffet breakfasts- get a later reservation (around 10:30) and you can experience breakfast and lunch options! 😋
One of my favorite shows the DIS has put out lately. Well done.
I am excited to see Pete back. He adds much more professionalism to the review.
When my husband and I honeymooned at WDW, we booked Tusker House for lunch and we had no idea it was a character meal, we just thought the food looked interesting. axh114 100%! we did the wave for breakfast before Epcot and we were shocked how tasty and affordable it was.
We went to Tusker House on our trip in April and it was awesome! My son is an extremely picky eater and we couldn't find anything he would eat. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE Tusker House. It is our all-time favorite character meal place. And the food is delicious!

Loved all your choices. I recently did the Wave for breakfast buffet it was really good and affordable.
Love Trail's End. We go there every trip. Nice tip by Steve on Cali Grill as well.
Great List guys !! I agree with all of your choices..and its great to see The Wave getting some love again...I also think Cape May Cafe could be added. I have members of our family who love this place and its pretty easy on the wallet. Again... great job !

Awesome episode. Just great. I wholeheartedly agree with Tusker House. You sold me on The Wave. Will have to visit next time we go to WDW.
Great episode guys!

Interesting choices. Thank you for the suggestions!
Please do a dining review of the Wave! That would be very helpful.
i realize it is kind of randomly asking but does anyone know of a good site to watch new movies online?
@Josue Felix Lately I have been using Flixzone. Just search on google for it =)
Agree with most of your choices, as an honorable mention I would also throw in Olivia’s at Old Key West. Definitely more budget friendly (at least by Disney standards) than most and some very good food.

well, this one got scribbled down in my little helpful hints book. Thanks.
Last time at Epcot we had a 1:00 lunch reservation at Biergarten. We had plans for dessert at Les Halles before Illusions, but we were still so stuffed we had to skip it!

Tusker house was the best meal I’ve ever had at Disney!
I love eating at Tusker house it is my favorite breakfast buffet next to Crystal Palace in Magic kingdom.
Kitsune sparrow I couldn't agree with you more!
We always recommend Tusker House, its the only buffet we frequent at Disney World. Never had a bad experience.
I think Cape May Cafe is the best value among Buffets in WDW. Without value as a consideration.....Boma hands down is the best Buffet in WDW.
Hey. Great videos. Keep up the awesome work! Was wondering when you were talking Germany the 33 Buffett is it the Biergarten Restaurant that you are talking about?
The Wave is one of my favorites!! The bar is nice, too and has good "bar food".
This should also be done for the universal show
Trails End has plenty of salad type foods too--they have huge and sweet strawberries and fresh fruit. This would be great on a hot day. We've only stayed at Fort Wilderness, and love Trails End; we're coming down next during Christmas for two weeks, and we're eating at TE for the majority of our meals.
Tusker House is amazing. You are not compromising food quality for character interaction. (DO NOT DO CHEF MICKEY'S!!!)
Looking forward to our lunch at Tusker House in three weeks!
The Plaza seems to have excellent pricing - I haven't eaten there yet but plan to on our trip next Nov.
Also, my fave TS in DHS is Sci Fi Dine In. Most entrees are $19 or under and another where I feel like you get such a good ambiance for your money!

keyman 66 -$35 pizza ? Did your server experience include them hand feeding you ? And wiping the sauce off your face ?
2 out of 3 of our pizzas were burnt to a crisp. March 2018

This is a great recommendation!
A filet steak and a glass of wine at the lounge could be had for the price of California Grill apps and cocktails.
Have you done a review of the Sunday Brunch service at the California Grill?
Pictures of the dining areas and food please!
Question: can you guys talk about tipping at WDW? or if you have before can you direct to a video where it is discussed? Thanks, you guys do an awesome job on all of your shows!

Well done. Again. 😉
I love Trail’s End.
Does anyone know what is considered "lunch time" at Disney. I'm curious what is latest time we can go to still be during lunch.
Pete what are your best tips on getting an ohana reservation on your 103 day?
Does Trail's End buffet include alcohol like Hoop dee doo Review does?
Double Jack and cokes are 12.86 a piece and Beers are 9.78 a piece Disney wide..... Ask me how I know.... LOL .... Just got back Friday night...
Thanks! I can hear it now, Trails End pricing just went up to $60 a person. It’s good, we know. Stop raving about it. Disney doesn’t need any excuse to raise the prices. LOL

BoSoxandMe they already do have a show every day
Is there a dress code at the California Grill lounge?
JANET WINSLOW yes, it's shown on the website.
Yes, it's the same as the main restaurant. The lounge is actually connected to the regular floor of the restaurant and inside the same room and just sits adjacent to it. I agree with your list. The Wave we recently discovered. Very nice place to cool off and get lunch.
I would say Olivia’s
my kids liked Chef Mickeys better then tusker house i liked Trails End brunch the best.
Our "next next" trip we plan to say at Wilderness Lodge. What's the best way to get to Trails End, from Wilderness Lodge?
GhostHostMemories the boat
👍🏽

If your on a budget you shouldn't be at Disney world in the first place wait a little longer save some more money then go to disney world so you can have fun and ball out and eat whatever you want
j burggg real talk if I cant ball out I dont go till I can ball out
sixty dollars for an appetizer Steve is silly. why have a theme to your show if you can't stick to it
Yes, I agree $60 is a lot of money, but finding ways to make an expensive experience more affordable can still be one way a family/group sticks to a budget. Just depends on what your budget is. If a $150 meal isn't in the budget, but a $60 one is that suggestion in my opinion is still in theme with this discussion.
Charles. Bro. Stop looking into the camera directly.
Why? Pete stares into it all the time.
Kellie Godwin Pete is talking to the audience and he's the host. Charles is there to talk to Pete and have a conversation with him for our entertainment.
This is how it's done on any talk show. Check out any of the late shows for instance.
I disagree. I feel like we are meant to feel included in the conversation.
Kellie Godwin ok.

Pete you look and sound sooooo bored! Good show otherwise!
Charles talks too much.
